This is my second experience with FlooringRVA. I first had hardwood flooring installed by them (see my review on Yelp) and back in January 2018 I picked out and had carpet installed. It's now June so I've had time to settle in with my carpet and wanted to provide a review of the experience. I read lots of reviews and research things to death before I make a decision so I don't give people a high rating just to be "nice". I also consider myself to be be a little hard to please because I'm used to doing a lot of work on my home myself and I have a high standard of quality while being thrifty. That being said, I shopped around a few quotes and came back to FlooringRVA. Long story short...I felt the price I paid for what I wanted was spot on. I had a good experience with the two man crew that came to install the carpet and padding. And 6 months later things are still meeting my expectations. Robert, the owner, was the real reason behind going with FlooringRVA a second time. He personally came to measure and offer suggestions. I preferred to text and Robert made himself available at all times throughout the day when I had questions. I didn't always expect an immediate response but one was always received. I could tell he and his staff were committed to my being satisfied throughout every step in the process and I couldn't find that level of customer focus with any other competitor. The company finally started responding to my messages once I contacted the BBB. They said they would split the cost of repainting a room (suggested by the painter they provided) and I declined, given the lack of need until this issue arose. They said they would send a check to cover the cost of the painting (previously, the sent the painter out and had him bill their business). The check has yet to arrive and I question whether it will actually cover the cost of the paint job, should it ever actually come. read more

We hired Flooring RVA to refinish existing floors and install new flooring in our home. While the project was completed in November, our experience since then has been extremely frustrating. After the job was finished, there was no notification that the job was complete. In fact, several materials and tools were left scattered behind. We then discovered numerous issues and excessive damage caused during the process. This included problems with the subfloor, uneven stain coverage where the old stain shows through, gaps and transition issues, mismatched show moulding, and multiple baseboards that were torn off and not reattached correctly. There was also damage to surrounding walls and trim that occurred during the work. A representative from the company finally came out to review these concerns after numerous contact attempts. Upon reviewing the work in person, RVA flooring acknowledged that portions of the work were done incorrectly. We were assured the issues would be corrected and that someone would follow up to schedule the repairs. Unfortunately, that follow-up never happened. For months, we have made repeated attempts to contact the scheduling team to set a date for the agreed-upon fixes, but our outreach has largely gone unanswered. At this point, we are simply trying to have the workmanship issues and damage addressed as promised. We chose Flooring RVA expecting professional service, quality installation, and accountability. We are still hopeful they will stand behind their work and make this right, and we ask that someone from the company contact us to schedule the necessary repairs. read more

RUN, don't walk, this place is a joke. Whatever you do, DO NOT PAY before work is completed. Read the other reviews here, READ THE REVIEWS, they're telling you everything you need to know. We unfortunately paid in advance, the carpet got installed and as the installers were finished we noticed black stains in multiple places. Immediately let the business know. Instead of just replacing it, they wanted try a carpet cleaner, which I should have never agreed to, but I let them try. It didn't work. Then, instead of just replacing it, they wanted to come in and cut out sections to replace, which even their installer said they wouldn't be able to make match with the seams. Their answer? To cover those parts with transition strips. Cheaped out at every step. The lack of communication is insane, weeks will go by and you can't get a response without threatening to write a bad review. In the end we end up with mucked up carpet and no resolution because we paid up front. Do yourself a favor and light your money on fire instead of doing business with this place. read more

January 2024 my husband and I regrettably decided to use Flooring RVA. There is only one "team member" (contractor) working on homes, as it appears a sub-contracted few individuals came to literally throw our new hardwood onto our existing downstairs hardwood; and a second sub-contracted team to rip out the carpet and lay broken hardwood all over our upstairs and then decided they were done working and never came back. We hired a company to remodel our staircase frame which was delayed because we had so much trouble coordinating and ultimately had to pay SC $5,000 to fix what Flooring RVA did to our stair treads because the Bona Red Out product got so deep into the tread holes after 3 stair tread attempts that black lines remain. To start, it ultimately took 8 months to get on the schedule. In our experience, the length of time in between responses from owner (Robert) and project manager (Jonathan) is around 1-3 weeks. We were told the project would take 10 days. As a courtesy, we stayed in a hotel for 14 days with our two German shepherds to give them ample time. It took that entire time. We came back to find our "new floors" in devastating condition. When I reached out to Jonathan he told me the work was acceptable. I found this interesting given that as project manager he had never once stepped foot on my property, but I told him if he found this work acceptable then he wouldn't mind me posting pictures of the work all throughout VCU (where my husband and I work), the internet, and consulting opinions of the VA Attorney General, Better Business Bureau (BBB), DPOR and Virginia Ethics Committee. His tune changed, but it was still a very long road for us. We fought with them for months. They tried to redo the work several times, but the state of our home was still so upsetting and they gave us so much trouble that we consulted with an attorney; a recommendation by my realtor who had a client who also had to consult with an attorney after a similar battle with them. We found out through this that NDA have been used in the past to keep clients quieter after work has been fixed. We consulted companies to come in and fix the work, all of which were horrified. Luckily for my husband and I, after a lot of begging to resolve this amicably, the company made our home "livable" in November. Not as promised and certainly not as paid for, but livable. For the second time we stayed in a hotel and boarded our dogs, more added costs. Our near million dollar home has likely lost value, but this company wasted a year of our lives so we figure we'll just have them redone by Colonial Floors in a couple years and move on. Robert also promised reimbursement for what was never carried out (staircase renovations, moving the stove...), but per usual, I was ghosted. After I decided to write a few reviews and report the situation to the BBB, within 3 minutes I got a text from Robert with another excuse as to why I had been ignored for weeks. He asked me in good faith that he would make things right to remove the reviews. This was just prior to Christmas so I did. It is now Jan 15 and he is pulling the same song and dance. I have to contact for updates and never hear anything meaningful back. He claims he is waiting on his attorney for "advice". I figure even if my husband and I don't receive any reimbursement from this horrible experience, perhaps we can help prevent this from happening to others. As it is, one of our coordinators at work did not hear our story prior to also getting involved with them and is now going through it with them. I encouraged her to contact the BBB. I cannot even put into words the struggles and distress this company has caused us this year. In any regard, I highly recommend any individual looking for any sort of contractor contact the BBB, VA AG, and DPOR prior to hiring anyone. I wish I could leave 0 stars. WE WERE FULLY GHOSTED BY THIS COMPANY. MY TWO YOUNG CHILDREN, HUSBAND AND I, WERE LEFT WITHOUT A HOME FOR AN EXTRA MONTH DUE TO THE INCOMPETENCE OF THIS COMPANY!!!! My family and I had a leak in our second floor bathroom, Which flooded all of our second floor and a good portion of the first floor of our house. We had Servpro come out and dry everything which took about two weeks to fully get everything dried and ready to be Rebuilt. I posted in my private community page, We only members of our neighborhood are allowed to Post and reply (Ashbrook Neighborhood). As soon The drying was complete, I posted it in my neighborhood group Looking for recommendations that neighbors had used for situations like this, or for remodeling in their homes. The " President" Of FLOORING RVA jumps into my private messages about how they can do everything we need, they can get it done quickly, They have a giant showroom, They are all fully licensed & Can have someone come out the next day to give us an estimate, all After viewing pictures of the damage. The next day, a separate flooring person came and a separate drywall person came, I guess to do separate estimates? I was insured I would have a full estimate completed within 2 to 3 days. For a week, Robert avoided all calls, Facebook messages, and iMessages. (It's not like he didn't receive them, he wasn't even smart enough to turn off red receipts so I could see he was reading the messages) Week 2: I called the main showroom and speak to a kind lady who informed me she will get with the installation team and have someone call me. I give them 48 hours I called back and speak to the same kind lady, she knew me by name The second I explained what was going on and she was floored that I had not been contacted by a team member yet. The next day I receive a text message to Robert about how he's been so sick that it must've been Covid so he was unable to work (It's been close to 10 business days at this point, when I was told I would have the estimate in 2 to 3 days, Not business days, just days in general. One of the people who came out to give us an estimate told us it would probably be sooner because they would be stuck at home in the snow and wouldn't have anything else to do, but create the estimates.) So I replied to Robert and tell him I'm so sorry that he's been sick, I'm grateful he's finally reached back out to me, That I understand being sick and how it can put a real damper on everything, is it possible he can begin working on our estimate now? No reply. Week 3 - After 14 business days I've ignored calls and messages. I finally messaged and said if you don't want this project, just be honest And tell us, stop, dragging us along, And we will move along to a new contractor. I was once again promised I would have my estimate by the next day. I never received another phone call, message, iMessage, anything from this company. I'm still waiting on that estimate I was promised I would have the next day, and it's been over 2 weeks since that "next day". Do yourself a favor and Avoid this company at all cost!!!!! As I said, they will jerk you around, completely ghost you, and do nothing but waste your time. If they hadn't wasted 3+ weeks of our time, My family could be back in our home by now, our happy and safe place. My children could be asleep in their own beds, in their own rooms, In the place where they feel most safe and secure; at home. Edit: Since Robert did not post the screenshots he promised, I'll post them for the other customers so they can see the wait and the communication that truly happened. I'll be happy to go back through my calls and show where I called the showroom multiple times asking for help as well. After I left a bad review, he sure did contact me immediately because he's worried of other people saying it. And YEP, I said thanks for sending it. Maybe I'll change my review; so he would leave me alone because I'm not stupid enough to work with a company that ghosted me for a month. Unfortunately, they won't upload in the correct order, but if you look at the dates you'll be able to see. That first text message was a week after they had come out to do an estimate. I was never offered to come to the showroom to look around before the estimate. The showroom was actually never even brought up to me. HORRIBLE!!!!!! They talk fast, make promises and didn't deliver then over talk you when you express why you are unhappy. - They'll call you and quickly return calls when soliciting your business after that good luck. - During the sales pitch they promised a firm fitting floor luxury vinyl (LV) but sold me a floating floor, so my floor has soft spots and crowning throughout where the cement skim coat used on the durarock underlayment was applied. I complained while they where installing and the shop manager said put something heavy on it, it will settle and if that doesn't work we'll come out and make it right. NOPE... they said it was within the standard range and that I would have had to choose a different LV; mind you they pushed their exclusive brand (which is what I bought) during the sale because they said it would be a firm fit and then hid behind "well I'm not privy to what the sales rep said to you?!?!?" - Said they would start in 6-8 weeks ended up being 4 months and that was after repeatedly calling for a start date. - In November of 2022 Promised to provide me with manufacturer statement that durarock was an approved underlayment but wouldn't give me a name of the manufacture or any contact information; provided April 2023 after repeated request. - Restained my steps because the original was stain didn't look right but would not repaint the front of the steps even though they painted them the first time. - Offered me $1000 credit for "bumps in the road" but wanted me to sign a statement that I wouldn't say anything negative about the company. When I refused I was threatened via text with litigation if I spoke bad about the company and wanted me to sign another document before taking the final payment (I refused). -FINAL STRAW- Called the police because a check I wrote was returned because it was written on a previously closed equity line of credit. I acknowledged it was my error and promised to bring a tellers check (which I did within the hour of notification) but he still called the police and claimed in front of the officer that I stilled owed him money (which I didn't and proved). I'm left floors I don't like, trim that has gaps and stairs that I'll have to repaint. Communication is very poor. It took several weeks for the flooring to come in. We paid a hefty deposit so after numerous calls and no one calling back, we were starting to get nervous that we've been had. We amped up our calls stating our frustration and magically they said the flooring came in. The guys that did the install were very good. If you are looking for a turn around install quicker than 3 months, look elsewhere. The quality of work was good, though. read more

The folks at Flooring RVA ARE GREAT. We had a stair runner installed along with a vinyl floor in our storage area (basement.) The product selection is excellent, as is customer service. Jonathan, Laurel, and Brianna all worked hard to straighten out kinks along the way. As we all know, everyone has challenges with staffing. It matters how you handle those challenges, and Flooring RVA cares enough to meet any challenge for a customer. I even met the owner! This is a LOCALLY OWNED business, which is important to us and should be to everyone. I enthusiastically recommend them for any and all kinds of flooring. Excellent! We hired Flooring RVA to replace all of the carpet in our house. We talked to four companies before making a decision. Flooring RVA was prompt with giving us a professional estimate, and easy to work with from the start. We were given an excellent, affordable option for carpet that looks great in our home. The other companies took several days to give us estimates, even though they said they would have them ready that day. On the day of installation, the crew arrived on time and wasted no time getting to work. Start to finish, it took them only 5.5 hours to install carpet in four bedrooms, a living room, five closets, hallway and stairs. That included disassembling beds and moving furniture, then moving furniture back and reassembling beds. They made it look easy, and we love the way our house looks. The staff is kind and knowledgeable, the day I called they sent someone out with carpet samples and a free estimate. The owner personally made sure I got the best deal for three bedrooms and the hallway upstairs. The price CANNOT be beat! I got a beautiful carpet with nice padding at a steal compared to the garbage I was quoted by Lowe's. Four stars because the communication wasn't the best. I ended up having to call a few times to get an update on where my quote was, then where my carpet was, then a date for installation. I'm not upset because the main receptionist is the anchor of communication and she had been out so I get it but it's hard to run a business with a single point of failure like that. ( As in when she's gone things don't run the same.) Overall I highly recommend this company. The company was unprofessional, uncommunicative, and took three months to complete a job that they said they would do in four days. The two times we heard from the owner were when we signed the initial contract and when we asked to meet with him to pay our final bill They did the demo work and then called us two days later to explain that they didn't have the flooring materials. They blamed it on trucking delays due to COVID, but they should have known they didn't have the materials, and they shouldn't have performed the demo work if they weren't prepared to finish the job. And they should have told us more than twelve hours before they were due to begin installation. They couldn't complete the shoe molding, because they couldn't get the stain to match our flooring, which they had promised to do. We ended up painting the molding white by ourselves. When we met to pay the final bill, we explained our impressions to the owner. He never accepted his responsibility for his failure to communicate. read more

When I wrote my original review in May, the communication from RVA Flooring had become non-existent. Once my father visited the showroom in June, as a last ditch effort to give RVA Flooring a chance, there was some communication but not the level I would have expected, especially when you are spending thousands of dollars. So, I contacted other contractors and decided on Jeter's Carpet and Flooring. I have nothing but positive things to say about them. I called them on a Sunday (and somebody answered!) hoping to get carpet installed by the end of the week and it actually happened!!! (I always try even when I think something is impossible, and despite the threat of a hurricane my carpet was installed by the following Friday. INCREDIBLE!!!) Jonathan was extremely patient and kind with me even though I was probably driving him crazy with questions. The installers were incredibly kind and respectful and did an AMAZING job!!! They even added padding underneath my commercial grade carpet - this is going to make a HUGE, positive difference for practitioners who stand all day long! They were very nice super helpful but as many times as we went over the amount of tile I needed the order was still completed wrong. I even pointed out the mistake and it still was entered incorrectly. I also didn't think it would initially take a week to get the tile. I was unaware of this until the order was complete. I wish I had known this before bc I would have gone somewhere else bc we needed this ASAP. Then I am contacted by the tile guy after he realizes he's short tile, I had no idea. I thought we got the correct order when I picked it up. So here we are AGAIN waiting over a week to get 3 boxes that we are short on so the bathroom sits unfinished. A week seems to go fast but not when u have no full bathroom and no way to shower. My project is now behind 3 weeks so I am not really happy. I appreciate how nice they were but I just don't think I will go back for anything again. It's just been a huge pain. I should have gone to the big box where they had stuff on hand which is what I ended up doing for my other tile needs. read more

I was in the process of preparing my house for sale and I knew I needed my second floor carpeting to be replaced. The company I originally went with provided me with the carpet, pad and tack strips but they kept changing the install date. Despite them knowing the urgency of my project, I was not seen as a priority. Enter Flooring RVA to the rescue. I reached out to them on a Saturday afternoon via email explaining my situation. Although they were closing soon, I still received a response from Robert that he would reach out to me soon. The following day, a Sunday (and they were closed), Robert reached out to me and asked specifics of the rooms, providing me with a price estimate and install estimate by the following Saturday. His colleague, Elijah, called the following day to come by and measure the rooms and provide me a more accurate price. The price was spot on what Robert quoted me and they were able to schedule install for that Friday. That Friday Bob came when they said he would and finished the job, 2 bedrooms 18 x 13, hallway and 3 closets, by 1pm. I am beyond grateful to Robert, Elijah and Bob because they were professional, easy to work with and responsive to my concerns. Every time I walk on my newly installed carpet, I am always reminded how great a job Bob did and appreciate Flooring RVA for rescuing me from a troubling situation. FYI my house is currently under contract and we are scheduled to close in 1 week. Yay!!!! Thank you, Flooring RVA, Robert, Bob and Elijah. Great sales pitch by the owner, but was too good to be true. It all went downhill from there. We contracted with Flooring RVA to replace our entire first floor with new hardwood last summer, and after four months of back and forth, we were very disappointed. Here are some details as to why... Quality of flooring - we stated we wanted a larger board that opened the space; yet we have boards that average around 12-18" long creating a choppy look and feel. We were told to not purchase from Floor and Decor because they boards would be 5 feet or shorter. Higher quality boards would be longer than the boards at Floor and Decor. We stressed over and over that we did not want a choppy look with lots of seams, which is why we wanted a wider board. We agreed to pay more money based on what we were told and what was "sold" us vs paying much less at Floor and Decor (or elsewhere). And it turned out, that boards sold and provided to us (knowing what we were looking for) were all considered short boards; the exact low quality boards we were told to avoid. We would have seen this earlier if the wood would have been properly opened and acclimated before the job started but because of the cluster of the initial process and lack of communication, the first time we saw the boards, they were already laid on the floor. This is the biggest issue. We paid for quality and did not get it, based on what was said / sold to us. Expectations of process - we expected a planned section by section demo of the house; yet we had rooms demo'd before ready resulting in significant dirt/dust in upholstered furniture, etc. Quality of install - I had to point out numerous places where boards needed to be replaced and shoe molding needed to be installed Damage to property - While they attempted to fix some of the areas of damage, I still have holes/dents in dry wall and trim as well as scratches on cabinetry that was previously flawless On-site management - I was told to only talk to one person on site that purposefully avoided me, and the communications provided to the owner or on-site lead often didn't make it back to the actual workers in numerous cases. Lack of extra boards - I'm sure my costs included more than an extra 10 or so floor boards, which is what I was left with and could cause an issue in the future if boards are damaged/scratched Staining of steps - This was a cluster from the beginning that resulted in hotel stays and multiple 3rd party contractors to get the job done and it still wasn't to our liking (and there is poly on the flooring now from it) In the end, I wish we would have gone with another contractor that was more honest and up-front, even if it would have cost us more money. Maybe then I'd be happy to look at my floors every day vs. feeling disgusted by them. Shop elsewhere! read more

Great job done by Flooring RVA!!!! We had a kitchen and two bathroom floors installed by Flooring RVA and the whole experience went extremely well and smoothly. The price was very reasonable and all of our questions were answered completely at each stage of the process. From working with our salesman Jonathan, the skilled installers Brad, T.C. and Bryan plus the extremely dedicated work of their Operations Manager Rey Salmon it was wonderful. Tremendous customer service and professionalism from everyone. Jonathan was friendly, knowledgeable and took the time to be sure we were comfortable with our purchase. Easy to talk to and work with. He said it would be a turnkey job and it surely was; no work was required from us. Brad, T.C. and Brian worked fast and did a super job of putting down the floors all in a single day. They cleaned up as they went along and minimized the household disruption.
