In some ways it's even more impressive that way. There's a pool table, darts and arcade games on one side and TVs all around the area. High top tables are set up and spread out for COVID restrictions. Also beers are a plenty and inexpensive here. This is the last place on my list of dog friendly patios. The problem with Little Woodrow's is there are so many locations, which one to select? BF decided on the one in Bellaire because it was the closest to us and he's tired of driving out to BFE through a lot of traffic (but that's where most of these places are!). First issue immediately presents itself. Tiny parking lot, no spaces evident first pass through the lot. We circle back around, drive to the side and parallel park against the building. As we walk to the entrance, someone departs leaving an empty spot out front, go figure. Settle down on a bench on the outside patio. I go inside to see what the ordering situation is like and good gosh golly gee willikers, this has got to be the diviest dive bar I've ever encountered. But there are 3 or 4 dogs inside on the cement floor. I query "I can bring my dog inside?" Someone goes, "Sure!" But someone else - I think the lady bartender - smirks, "Depends on what kind of dog it is." Jokingly. Snarky. I think to myself, What the hell is that supposed to mean? I go back out, retrieve Jade, bring her inside. Yappy/snappy little dog incessantly barks at her. Kills me when a 15 pound ankle-biter challenges my 75 pound Saint Bernard/Husky mix. But the mocking continues. Hell's bells, I didn't come here to be the butt of y'all's jokes. So I leave and this is the part I find most disturbing. The door opens inward from outside. Isn't that a fire code violation? Aren't the exit doors of establishments supposed to swing open to the outside? Go research the Cocoanut Grove fire where nearly 500 people died because the doors opened inward and they piled up at the exits unable to get out. Outside I say to BF, "We're not staying, and I want to go to Nettbar instead." (Which has a really nice bartender [the guy with the beard] and was dead that night because of the cold and rainy weather.) The ironic footnote to this is we passed by the Little Woodrow's on Shepherd which looked every bit as divey on the outside as the one on Bellaire! There are quite a few Little Woodrow's around town and I've been to a bunch of them. The ones I've been to the most (and my favorites) are the Rice Village location and the Midtown location. They all have their differences. The Bellaire location is right off of Bellaire Blvd. I stopped by for a drink with my former boss on a Tuesday. First off, the parking situation isn't the greatest. While they do have a lot, they only have ten or so spots. I was lucky enough to snag the last one. As you walk in, you'll notice that this location has more of a divey vibe than the others. There's a small patio to the front and to the side of the bar. Inside, there's a long bar and some table top seating. Service was friendly and they have happy hour until 6 plus daily specials. When we were there, premium draft beers were on special. All in all, a chill spot to grab a drink with good prices. There just isn't anything that makes it stand out. read more

Since moving near this location I always found this location to be strange. It's literally a bar smackdab right outside of a neighborhood and next to the train tracks. There are NO other bars near by. They have a decent amount of parking, but I don't imagine this place being overran. It seems like this is just a local drinking spot for the residents of this area. It's what you expect out of a Woodrow's so affordable beer and some house wines. Simple straight to the point no frills kind of joint. It's nice because it's REALLY close to home and prices are great. You come here to chat it up with an old friend, it's not your party kind of bar. Visited with a friend on a Friday night, just for drinks. The place had a laid back vibe, and although the crowd wasn't very diverse, neither was it off-putting or uncomfortable. This is the kind of bar every town should have. You walk in and if everyone in the bar doesn't know you, they soon will. What you see behind the bar is what you get, if it is cold enough, then you have your choice of about 15 different beers. They only serve wine and beer, but amongst these professional drinks you wouldn't want to see anyone getting rowdy on whiskey. Although, I am sure if you asked, someone would have it in their car. We have been coming here for years...Moved to Fort Worth in 2017 and then back to Houston during covid. Glad to see they are back open. They have a pizza oven and make super tasty pizzas! So long story short, Farrah thought it would be funny if she planned a UYE bowling night at Woodrows. Which was a great plan, minus the minor detail that it's not a bowling alley. And though there are no lanes or pins to be had at Woodrows (obv), it turns out that it's a cool little neighborhoodey bar.. one that we ended up having a pretty good time at. Did not like it at all! If you are not a regular don't expect good service. I really thought it was like the other locations. This place was so quiet on a Saturday night around 11 ish. We were pretty much kicked out the place when they started picking up the chairs around 1 am you would think that after a party of 4 buying drinks back to back would make you happy considering is was empty with only two people at the bar. Decided to stop by when looking for a place to hang out near the Bellaire area that was open late. It was a Saturday night and not too crowded (plus). It is what I would consider a dive-ish bar though. Felt a little overdressed and I was in jeans. It's definitely more of your neighborhood, casual, dive bar. Come in flip flops and you'll fit right in. Bartender was friendly and attentive. There are some fun games you can play. Went to Little Woodrows today to watch the Texans squeak by the Titans today in a helluva exciting game. I have often overlooked this bar when trying to decide where to watch games on Sunday, but this place rocks! So long Chammps - keep ur uptown 'tude. Met a couple of friends there and soon made friends with everyone around our table -- not too crowded at all, everyone was just really laid back. and down-to-earth. Went to the bar to get a pizza delivery menu and the bartender had several to choose from and gave me her recommendations. As my friend and I were deciding what to order, one of the regulars named Gigi stopped by our table and offered us food from the buffet they were setting up. Her boyfriend was manning the grill outside and was preparing chicken wings, bbq, rattlesnake nuggets (not a typo) as well as 7 layer dip, chips, salmon spread, fried pickles, onion rings, fries, etc... how nice was that?? I probably go here about once a week, so I may be a little biased as a regular, but this is a great place. I have also completed the Big 50. Wendy has always been awesome to us. Always nice to have a bartender who knows who you are and treats you right. It's a bit of an older crowd, so a little more laid back. But, I enjoy a more laid-back atmosphere over the crowded fratastic atmosphere of some other bars. This LW's only has beer and wine, so don't expect to drop jager bombs all night. Take your popped collar and sunglasses at night down to a bar in West U if you want that crowd. Also, steak night on Thursday is pretty awesome. And lastly, they have Erotic Photo Hunt on one of the machines at the bar. What more could you ask for? read more

I've come a few times late afternoon/early evening and enjoyed myself very much. I returned for their steak night and after that experience, I will never ever go there again. I was on the back patio and a married couple (I believe they are the owners because they kept referring this to "My bar", "my establishment" etc. They were rude to me beyond words and bullied me until I left. Worse off, they actually clapped when I walked away. It was all over something I said that they misunderstood and fool the liberty of taking it way out of proportion. This place sucks, which sucks because it's 2 miles from my house. Went here on a Friday and it was a sword fest. The older lady behind the bar acted like she was in the weeds even though there were 6 people total in the bar. She told a guy to get his dog out of the doorway and was super annoying ( the dog was a sweetheart and everybody loved her). To top it off she basically ran everybody out of the bar at 1:30. If you've ever been to a Little Woodrow's you know the drill - faux dive vibe with a decent selection of beers. The one thing that sets this Little Woodrow's apart from the others is the crowd. It's a considerably older crowd, consisting mostly of med center professionals or Bellaire/West U couples - though not nearly as hoity toity as it may sound. Things to take note of - it is right by the railroad tracks. I actually enjoy watching freight trains go by, so this can be enjoyable. However, I have had a couple of friends delayed by about 15-20 minutes because they got stuck on the other side of the train. Little Woodrow's primary lot is a dirt lot and it fills up quick. The biggest problem that this poses is that if you're sitting outside the cars can kick up a lot of dust. This has gotten bad enough that my glass gets covered in a nice brown film. But all in all, it's a decent place to stop in and have a beer. read more

This is a nice Woodrow's, though incidentally my 1st one to try. The bar is pretty warm, and though there is no food to be had, vendors supposedly pop in and out. There is also a virtual hunting game; it was amusing to see the guys in our party compete over who could take down the most bucks, even if in real life, they would probably not hunt. We (3 females) went there after an afternoon bowling party. This is the sorriest bar I have ever been to. The barmaid was rude. It was raining and the roof was leaking in several places. An assortment of men came in around 4 PM, and it was just weird. A really skanky lady came in a couple of times and then left again through the back exit. She had shorts on and it was a sight that burned my retinas. We were wondering what was going on in the back! The barmaid purposely ignored my friend as she was trying to pay her bill. Such a cute place with a lot of character & fun atmosphere!! They recently brought in liquor & with it created one of the most diverse crowds Houston has to offer. The age bracket is very widespread with this being the original location. The management staff is so friendly & professional they make you feel at home while here.
