I decided to try Bungalow after a Facebook friend posted a glowing review about her experience. Luckily, I had the same great experience I went on a weekday during Happy Hour and everything was exceptional. The customer service...food (ribeye steak, green beans and mac & cheese)...drinks...grown and sexy atmosphere...old school R&B music/playlist. Top tier! Will definitely return

I went to Bungalow in downtown Houston to celebrate my sister's birthday and it was definitely a mix experience. The vibe is gorgeous with stylish decor, pretty lightning and they welcome you with a complimentary glass of champagne at the door which sets the mood right away. The staff also went around taking professional photos, printed them in a frame, and then offered them for $25 which felt a little bit pushy. Parking was frustrating, you can either risk the street or pay $35 for the lot next door, which just feels overpriced. The menu is small, and most of us ended with pasta, it was fine but honestly nothing to rave about. The complimentary smore birthday

We came on a Monday evening for dinner and service was so slow. It took our waitress 25 minutes from us sitting down to even getting us water, never mind taking our orders. And then once we put in our order, our entree arrived before my cocktail - I ended up cancelling it and getting a glass of wine instead. Food was ok. For a steakhouse, the steak was nothing to rave about. The mushroom side was also excessively salty. The best part of the meal was the dessert - the lush lemon meringue tart was delicious. It was also nice that they cut both the steak and the dessert into two for us. The restaurant interior is very nice but overall a subpar experience.

This review is a bit postponed so I can't recall a lot of details from my experience here. I came in a larger group to celebrate a birthday and remember the service being excellent! The champagne glass offered upon entry while we waited for our table to get set up was a nice touch. I shared the whole fried snapper and a side of brussel sprouts with my friend and we both gave it a 3.5/5. The batter was flavorful and presentation was okay. However the pricing on the menu compared to the quality of the food is a deterrent for me to consider coming back here. Everything we tasted was good, but not "wow" enough to consider it as a luxury dining experience. Cocktails were beautiful and tasty. More on the $20+ side which was fine with me given the quality of them. Parking in this area is a bit tricky though and you will pay $12+ with a little bit of a walk (a block most) to get to the restaurant. This area isn't that safe at night time either so another factor to consider but I know that is out of their control.

I think me and food at this place is cursed. Second time here for happy hour of course I loved the decor. I ordered some oysters and they were CHEWY and hard. Worst oysters I've ever had. They also have a very fishy after taste. I've never bit into an oyster and it was hard. I really want to like this place it's soooo cute but.... Also happy hour drinks taste like juice very little alcohol. Service was great wish the oysters has been too.

Elegant Potential I tried this restaurant as something new and here's my review. The locations is a treasure of its own filled with many photographic opportunities inside and out. Also very close to paid parking, literally you park see the mural, walk around the corner and you have arrived. Outside is busy and once you enter the doors everything transforms into a getaway of fine dining. You are greeted by the host upon entering and everyone is exceptionally friendly. There is a small lobby with front seating, pending a small wait, otherwise you are promptly seated. The dining area is spacious and some what dimly lit giving more of evening getaway rather than a lunchtime one. So you may need a flash for pictures or may be not. I will always love and appreciate the flexibility of a Chef that takes on the challenge of preparing something for a Vegan diet. My dish was a veggie and pasta, that was worth every bite and I would gladly eat it again. This was accompanied by tempura fried asparagus and a dipping sauce, if desired. I would say it's not n The server kept my glass topped, which is always a plus for me. Overall it was a really great dining experience. Cons: There is an unpleasant odor upon entering, that needs to be addressed. Brooms and dust pans or trash cans should not just be lying in the dining area unattended or used. Even if the trash is in transition it shouldn't be visible from time of Arrival - Dining - Departure. Until the next one Bye -Bye!

Took my sister out for her birthday while I was in town for work, and she picked Bungalow! Not trying to ruin the shock and aw but handing you champagne upon entry is top tier! This place was giving LUXURY energy and memorable experiences! The food was great I had an amazing time the service was outstanding! The fish was amazing and so was her steak! She had it prepared medium rare and Oscar style-- she was very happy!

I just want to that Alana for being a great server. Her attention to detail, and having great customer service made the time there a vibe. I enjoyed all the aspects of the dining experience. I would tell anyone please! Please! Please! Try it for yourself! You may like it! Oh and the food was A plus!

Great Experience, Is Worth Trying! Good experience overall, though a bit pricier than expected. The ambiance wasn't amazing but the drinks were great and the food presentation was exceptional. I found this place through a review on Instagram and it didn't disappoint! We tried a variety of appetizers and meals, including the flaming tomahawk steak... definitely a highlight. The drinks were solid, the vibe was good and even without reservations, we were happy to get squeezed in and seated with only a short wait. A little on the expensive side but overall a great experience and worth checking out!

If you're in Houston, Bungalow Downtown Dining is a MUST. From the moment we walked in, the experience was top-tier. They welcomed us with complimentary champagne, which immediately set the tone. Our server Alani was AMAZING super outgoing, attentive, and you could tell she genuinely enjoyed serving our table. She recommended the Plata Peche cocktail, and let me tell you... it was so good the entire table ended up ordering it. Now let's talk food everything we ordered HIT: * Apricot Chicken (~$35) - flavorful with the perfect glaze * Wagyu Meatball Pasta (~$30) - rich, well-seasoned, and comforting * Peruvian Chicken (~$25) - juicy and packed with flavor Sides were just as impressive: * Bruleed Cream Corn (~$12) - sweet, creamy, and perfectly torched * Mac & Cheese (~$15) - cheesy and indulgent * Asparagus (~$15) - cooked just right with great flavor Drinks were around $15-$20, and honestly worth it for the quality and presentation. As if that wasn't enough, they also surprised us with a complimentary dessert plate, which was a great touch and really completed the experience. Overall, expect to spend about $50-$80 per person depending on drinks but for the ambiance, service, and quality, it's absolutely worth it. The vibe is upscale, the presentation is beautiful, and the service is 10/10 across the board. Overall: 100/10 highly recommend. Definitely coming back next time I'm in Houston to try more of the menu.

What an experience! They set drinks on fire. We had smores, but we also had great service and absolutely delicious food! If you haven't been to bungalow you are missing out. We came here on a Thursday night with a party of six. You should definitely make a reservation. When we entered we were greeting with glasses of complimentary sparkling wine. We were right on time for our reservation and seated immediately. We started with the lobster bisque. It was buttery, filled with delicious lobster pieces. It was well flavored and had the perfect level of thickness. Our main entrees were the red snapper and the 8 oz filet mignon with truffle garlic butter. We shared an assortment of sides with the table including green beans, mashed potatoes, and Mac n cheese. My favorite side was the green beans. They were well seasoned and cooked well and not too hard so they still had nutritional value. The filet mignon with the truffle garlic butter was chefs kiss. It was cooked to a perfect medium that let the hemoglobin flow freely as I cut into it. Each bit was a perfect blessing. The red snapper was excellent! The fish was fried but so light and crispy. It was so good and seasoned well and it was so much food you can definitely share this fish. Whenever I come back to Houston, this place will be on the list.

I went for a happy hour and it was absolutely a vibe! The ambiance, the food, the drinks. Everything! I was greeted with complimentary champagne that was actually pretty good. I ordered a lemon drop that was not too sweet, not too sour, and surprisingly strong, especially for a happy hour drink. Chargrilled oysters: 7.5/10. They were flavorful, but the sauce was kind of weird and untraditional and not in a good way. It felt like an experimental flavor that didn't quite work for an oyster sauce. Creamy Seafood Dip: 9.8/10. This was sooo delicious! Creamy, flavorful, and packed with a good variety of textures from the onions and green peppers to the variety of seafood. The shrimp and crab were perfectly cooked. My only con: the toast it came with was a little too toasted for my liking, but that didn't stop me from eating up every last bite.

I went here on Sunday afternoon. The food was amazing good. I got the seafood dip and the Mac and cheese and the shrimp. My friend and she split the dip since it w We a shareable portion. The restaurant was really cute and welcoming staff I didn't like that the parking but it's downtown so yeah! It wasn't too crowded which I loved I think we beat the dinner crowd . I will go back and maybe sit at the bar.

Ask the Community - Bungalow Downtown Dining

How much is the reservation fee?

If you want to sit at the bar no reservations are needed. I believe the deposit for a reservation depends on how big your group is though

    Is there valet parking?

No however there is a pay parking right next to the restaurant.

    What is the dress code?

    I'd say, date night attire.

Does this restaurant accept Apple Pay or use tap?

Yes! I was able to go to the register and pay with my Applewatch!

How is parking, are there any garages close by or do they have valet?

It's parking directly behind the establishment. So very convenient and accessible. It is dark but that has nothing to do with the restaurant, that is the city of Houston. But we had an amazing time

Is this business kid friendly? **update**…

I feel like you could bring older kids. But it definitely is more of an adult vibe.

Do they offer happy hour drinks or appetizers?

Hello, we do offer appetizers but not happy hour at this time

    Is there parking offered?

There is a parking lot next to the restaurant. You will need to pay.

    Is there Valet?

No valet as of yet, still under soft opening so not sure if it would be offered after fully running.

Is there a place online to see the prices for the food? We have teenagers that would like to see if it is affordable for prom night

Appetizers were like $20-$25, entrees were about $35-$50. Sides are separate and I'm sorry I don't remember the prices of the sides.

    How is parking?

We had to pay $20 to park in the parking lot behind the restaurant on a Friday night. I believe you can also try to find metered parking on the street with us free Mon-Sat from 6PM-7AM and all day Sunday.

Even this time the GPS took us to an entrance that had us going the wrong way down a one-way, but we eventually figured it out I will say that the parking isn't all that great, but we were able to find a spot. If the parking lot is full you should be able to find street parking nearby Kanpai Club is a sister location to Handos. They share a kitchen and you can walk through an inside door access either. You can find the same cocktails and bites from Handos on the Kanpai menu, but there's also additional drinks and bites The bar feels like a Japanese Izakaya. It's a narrow space resembling a Japanese outdoor bar. It's intimately lit and well decorated. We did have to wait for two spots to open up, but that didn't take too long The bartenders were friendly, professional, and efficient. We went on a Friday night (fairly late), and they had two dedicated bartenders The cocktails were fun and were beautifully crafted. Most were served in novelty glassware. You can order classic cocktails, but both Kanpai and Hando offer a variety of signature cocktails. Most having some sort of Japanese or Asian fusion. They have beer, wine, and extensive sake list, as well as green tea and other nonalcoholic options The cocktails were tasty. The only one I was iffy on was their Espresso martini. It was poured from a machine and I guess there were having issues with it. The presentation was phenomenal. There was a roasted marshmallow garnish. The drink itself was far too Smokey in flavor than I like, or at least in terms of my espresso martinis The Yuzu Kosho fries were incredible. The flavors really hit the spot. The Okinawa Potato salad was both questionable to looks and and to eat lol. This purple mound of potato's had an interesting taste, look, and consistency. It wasn't bad, just... interesting and new Some tips: If you can't find this spot from the street, look for Handos. It's part of this restaurant Ask the bartender about the happy hour menu. And most nights they're open until 12am, but on Fridays and Saturdays they are open until 2am If you order food online (technically from Hando's) you can get 10% off using code: HANDO10. Midtown with their questionable parking makes me not want to go. Upon entering, the place is a nice, intimate setting, with a handful of seating areas along with bar and outside seating. Recommend bringing a light jacket as it was a bit cold. The menu had a variety of offerings, and noted that all drinks are $12. They are card only, so bring your card or tap to pay and also your ID. Because they are 3 feet from a school and are considered a private club, they comply with TABC regulations to ensure safety and efficiency in their business. From the variety of the drinks, I opted for my signature drink, an Old Fashioned, it definitely had a bite to it. I slowly sipped on it while I lounged in one of the seating areas. My sister tried the Starduster Ranch Water, and she didn't like it, I had a sip of it and it tasted like only way I can describe is like soap. Saw that they also have Mocktails and THC Beverages, I didn't try any of them. We headed out as we were trying to grab dinner and Starduster doesn't currently offer food. I did get to speak with Dylan again outside and he clued me in on a couple of things they are planning to do such as having food trucks and also open the upstairs for additional space. Overall, I know being new (had just opened last week) there are many things being worked on and do hope that things improve here and they add additional seating, it got busy for a bit and seating was standing only. Thankfully I was there early enough and got a nice cozy seating area. I removed a star because both my drink and my sister weren't really anything special, it tasted like they were premade and poured from a tap, I missed seeing each one be made. I did like that there aren't TV's inside, it helps maintain the personal interactions natural and focused. Outside they do have TV's which makes sense for bigger groups. Though the seating is limited inside, likely to maintain it as a cozy and intimate space, outside has a lot of seating AND they are PET FRIENDLY! In cold weather without heating lamps, don't think anyone would really sit out there. Once spring and summer arrive, it will be nice. On their menu they indicate "Weekly Specials" Spaghetti Western Sundays Monday Night Steak Night (not sure why it wasn't happening the day I was there, would've enjoyed some steak) Tarot Tuesdays Whiskey Wednesday
