Unfortunately, I won't be returning to Little Woodrow's after my experience here. While the drinks are severely overpriced, the reason I'm leaving a 1 star review is because of the behavior/service from the bartenders. In my opinion, the bartending staff appeared to make assumptions about who they believed would or wouldn't tip based on appearance, and I found that incredibly disappointing. My guest and I waited roughly 20 minutes just to get a single drink while multiple bartenders spent time talking among themselves. When we were finally acknowledged, the service we received was noticeably different from the experience of other customers seated nearby, who were greeted promptly, checked on frequently, and treated with a much higher level of attentiveness. What makes this especially frustrating is that I was a bartender while I was in college many years ago. I understand the service industry, I understand that tip-based jobs can be unpredictable, and I also understand that not every guest tips the same. Some leave 20% or more, some don't, and that's simply part of the profession. Personally, I always tip well above the industry standard because I've been on the other side of the bar. The problem is that it's not a bartender's job to decide, before serving someone, who is or isn't worth their time based on how they look or how they're dressed. Every guest deserves the same respect, courtesy, and level of service. Great hospitality means giving everyone a fair experience and letting your service--not assumptions--determine the outcome. I also think about the couples who work 60-hour weeks and only get one date night a month. Imagine finally getting that one evening together, looking forward to relaxing, only to have the experience soured because someone behind the bar decided you didn't look like you'd tip enough to deserve good service. That's a pretty disheartening and disrespectful way to treat paying customers. I sincerely hope management reminds the staff that exceptional service should be consistent for everyone, regardless of first impressions. Until then, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

The first note for anyone to know is that parking is very limited aside from the surrounding streets in the neighborhood. I highly recommend folks ride share here. The second note is it's very common to have to present an ID at these types of sports bars so make sure you have it on ya! This venue has a decent layout but there are some areas that are not great. Particularly the tables near the bar where one has to line up to order. Alot of people will queue up in this area which becomes tiresome if you're sitting at these select tables. It's just a poor location to have placed the primary spot for folks to order and I feel this could easily be corrected (having owned a bar myself). The outdoor patio has a fair amount of deck chairs and patio tables, some uncovered, others under an overhang. This can make for a bit of trouble if it's a rainy day. The space is decently sized with enough TVs to catch the main events. This leads me to service. There are no roving servers so this effectively means one has to queue up and wait to place their order. This is what I like to call adding "friction" to the point of sale. This bar is hit and miss with queue times. They can have the same amount of bartenders and sometimes it's quick, other times you could be standing there a good amount of time. This means you're missing out on conversation with friends or looking for the tv that has the event you're interested in while you wait. All of these types of struggles could be remedied with changing how they operate. This typically isn't too large of an issue on a normal night but it definitely is on event days / weekends. The bathrooms can get pretty messy at times too (at least for men). I've never asked the ladies I come here with how their side is but I'd certainly hope it's better. Now, that leads to food and drink. Food is limited with vendors that come in and serve whatever. Crawfish, bbq, hot dogs, burgers, etc. Their website and socials will list these sometimes though they are not always up to date. For drinks, don't come here looking for any decent cocktails or wine selection. Sure, they can make basic ones or have some basic wines but it's limited. This is a liquor/mixer and beer type bar where speed/volume is the focus for the bartenders. Overall, I don't dislike this Little Woodrow's location as it is a bit more low key than some of the others but it comes with some considerations too. I will say, I do like that they tend to have more main events than other spots nearby and the vibe isn't nearly as off-putting as some of the others. read more

I prefer bigger woodrows, but these ones are decent too. A Houston staple, and not somewhere I'd ever go of my own accord, but maybe I've been missing out, because our bartender (she has red hair and is stunning) is one of the best servers we've had the pleasure of dealing with. We'd definitely come back just for her. I think Little Woodrow's is a good place for people watching and cute people, and most of the locations have a good vibe and friendly bartenders, especially the one I already called out. They're definitely on the pricy side and I don't like that they are clearly a little overpriced, but still as far as Houston goes it's a nice local chain that I fully support. read more

My friend and I were waiting for our table at BB's across the street and decided to grab a drink at Little Woodrow's. 1st, we had to seat ourselves then walk to the bar to order. We were asked to provide ID's and start a tab. Ill insert, we are two African American men. I provided my ID and debit card and placed an order. My friend then provided his ID. While this is happening, a white guy attempted to order a drink while we were speaking to the bartender named Faith. It was extremely rude. Faith took one glance at my friends ID and began to laugh and said, "This ID is fake, are you trying to play me right now?" My friend and I were flabbergasted that she would think we would provide fake identification. I am a Director in the Texas A&M University system, and my friend is a registered Nurse. We are professional adult black men. Mind you, we were the only two black people in the establishment. Faith then asked my friend to provide two additional items with his name on it. He did so, yet Faith continued to accuse him of having a fake ID. No ID reading/verifying machine was used, only Faith's bare eyes and judgement. The ordeal went on as we attempted to prove the ID was real. People (white customers) began to look at us weird as if we were typical stereotypes. I do not stand for this type of treatment, and will be escalating the situation. Being wrongfully accused was embarrassing, wrong, and unprofessional. If two black men were unwanted at the establishment, say that. Don't hide behind false accusations and blatant racism. I will never return nor recommend. read more

We flew into Houston around midnight on Friday and after a seven hour flight (we had two stops) and my husband and I were in need of a drink. We drove past Little Woodrow's on our way to our Airbnb and decided to stop before turning in for the night. The bar was virtually empty. It wasn't until later into our trip that we discovered that establishments in the state of Texas are required to stop serving alcohol at 2pm. The bar was clean, most importantly so was the bathroom. Nothing worse than going into a tiny stall and finding it to be covered in urine. They had games for patrons to play while drinking. Also, while the inside wasn't too big, the outside area was very large. I am sure they draw a large crowd on the weekends. There was one bartender working this night and she was friendly. The owner or manger of the bar was also very nice. The drinks were good and strong, maybe a tad bit pricey, but that is the norm for bar drinking. All and all, nice place to stop in for a drink. read more

Cool bartenders, outdoor seating, and TVs for sports is my kind of thing. Plus based on the location, it's easy to navigate. I enjoy riding my bike on the bayou trail and making a pitstop here for a post ride beverage or two (after that you stop counting). Overall it's chill and relaxing where you don't have to worry about people bothering you; very refreshing considering how hard it is to find those these days. read more

Stumbled on this place while out and about and saw they had crawfish and decided to stop because BB's was packed. This place has an awesome vibe and the staff were awesome and friendly. The outdoor patio is set up with corn hole, connect 4, Jenga , and lots of seating. Sat down and had some beer and decided to get some crawfish from the vendor. The size of the crawfish was good especially for how early it is in the season. Little Woodrow's has a plethora of different beer on tap as well! This will definitely be a go to place when I'm in the area! read more

There are several locations, as you can find Little Woodrow's all around Houston and Texas in fact. Indoor and lots of outdoor seating. We sat at the bar this time around. Attentive bartenders. Beer, liquor, wine, frozen drinks, food. Happy hour from 2-7pm. Several TVs to watch the games if thats your thing. Super laid back with chill people (typically) depending on what game is being aired. All age ranges from 20 somethings to everything else. Dress is casual, nothing fancy. I've been to this Little Woodrow's many many times. One of my favorite locations with a nice patio. They have about 40 beers on tap and a wide selection of spirits. They also have nice specials which is a plus. One of my favorite things about this Little Woodrow's is the music. They have Touch Tunes which allows me to play the music I want to hear! They also have some sort of food option like a food truck or some grill which is great if you get hungry. It's also dog friendly! I love seeing all the doggies, typically all super friendly. LW has done wonders with this location compared to its predecessor. Managers and staff are polite, pour good drinks, and are very accommodating with TV programming. They understand that having 20 TVs means there can be more than one program playing, unlike some other bars. With that said, don't expect to come in halfway through a Rockets playoff game and get lacrosse or curling on the center big screen. They don't serve food, but within a 5 minute walk you can get Cajun, Mexican, Thai, or good old American foods....if you don't care for the food truck on site Wed-Sun. The downsides...the restroom is a bit cramped, and sometimes when there is a hippie-jam band or skate punk band playing at the venue across the street, you get a spill over of people who have difficulty making decisions on what to drink, or if they should shower this week. Overall a pretty relaxed place to get your drink on. At least until the hordes in Midtown start to migrate. read more

My friend asked me to watch a Rockets vs Warriors game on May 21st 2015.. I knew it was very hard to find a parking spot around the Heights area.I parked my car at some street. I arrived there.I saw many people who wore Rockets shirts. Of course, most people were rooting for Rockets.I couldn't get any tables and chairs.A lot of people.People were shouting "Let's go Rockets". I was disguised as James Harden. I had his trademark beard, But no one believed me that I was the real James Harden.He is 6-5. I am 5-5.It was too short for me to become James Harden. Unfortunately, Rockets were not in good shape.To my surprise, Rockets cheerleaders, Power dancers, came to the restaurant.People started taking pictures with the Rockets power dancers. I asked them to take a selfie. But I didn't look like the real James Harden. The dancer turned down the selfie. My buddy arrived the restaurant.Rockets recovered and attacked Warriors.Rockets 98- Warriors 99. 7 seconds remaining , James Harden grabbed his final rebound.He was supposed to make his game-winning shot.However, two Warriors defenders blocked him.The game was over. We lost. But it was still enjoyable.Great people, atmosphere.This was one of the great sports bar in Houston.I hope that the real James Harden can visit this great bar and enjoy beer! To start Woodrow's on white oak takes the cake for the "franchise"? Of Woodrow's in the Houston area. Been to every other one and they all have something in common and are great but when I want a warm environment, good service, and just a general good relaxed night this is the one bar I go to continually. Everything is on point whether it be the atmosphere, patrons, the outstanding staff or just the general layout of Woodrow's on white oak pins the tail night in and night out. To start Mel and Paul the managers of this location are great people. This doesn't mean few drinks, it means when I come in they are more than happy to conversate and always remember previous conversations of what is going on with me. I have see them deal with "asshole" folks and it is done with the upmost respect so cheers to that. Next, the bartenders. All are great but the one that really separates herself is Amber. She handles everything perfectly. Has a great attitude and truly cares about the job she has at hand. out of 5 stars id give her a 10!! One of the main reasons I come here is due to her. Again not discounts or free brews, she just understands customer service to the full extent. Cannot say enough how much I appreciate amber, she is a blunt individual and for me that couldn't be better. I've read bad reviews on this place and they should be nullified. They are extremely professional and after a long tenure of bar hopping in Houston this one has got to be my go to. I have always been a big fan of Little Woodrow's. While I was sad to see Beer Island close, I was excited to see a Little Woodrow's opening up in that spot. Great covered patio and a lot of LCD screens with your favorite sports event playing. Little Woodrow's has always had a decent selection of beer on tap and an impressive bottle selection. Saturday afternoon I had Karbach Rodeo Clown and a couple of Phoenix Double ESB's from Real Ale. As you walk in, the bar takes up the back wall and is to the left a bit. On the right are the restrooms. Just like Beer Island it's a huge patio destination and this past Passover weekend was perfect for such said patio. I saw people walking from BB's with Crawfish. I also saw the Pink's Pizza delivery guy drop off a few pizzas. I will spend some quality time at Little Woodrow's in the coming months. LITTLE WOODROW'S REDEEMED! I don't think I will ever go back to the midtown location ~~ for I have discovered LW in the Heights! I met Rachel B. here for a drink in the late afternoon, before the majority accept that their night will be as full as their pint glasses served on a fantastic patio area, so we had the pick of the tables. The two bartenders were extremely friendly and quickly got me a 512 Pecan Porter to start with. I was then able to sit and enjoy my beverage without the yelling, pushing, shoving, and headache you experience in midtown. The long version: Drinks - They have a full bar, but I've never tried the cocktails so I can't speak to that. The beer is fantastic. They have several taps, with a very diverse selection. It is dominated by Texas beer, but you can also find beer from the Pacific Northwest as well as some European drafts. Food - They don't have their own kitchen, but you can bring in food from other restaurants. My husband and I like to pick up food from BB's across the street and bring it over. They often bring in food trucks as well. Ambience - Very laid back. There are lots of TVs that usually have sports on, but often have the news as well. The inside is a little small, but they have a large outside seating area. Parking - They do have parking, but the lot is small.
