I did not have too much time to find a caregiver, so I called a few places that happened to be at the top of the list when I searched for "Home Health Care." I like to think of it as Home Health One found me instead of the other way around. They were the 3rd call I made. The first 2 companies had recordings and I was on hold most of the time. When I finally did speak to someone, you could tell they were trying to speed up the process more-so than I was, so I felt overwhelmed and pressured and hung up. When I finally got to Home Health One, I was able to speak to a real human right off the bat. She answered every one of my questions thoroughly, was extremely patient with me being a newbie to the process, and assured me my dad would be in good hands. That, she was absolutely right about. A nurse was in my living room with my dad the next day. Assessed him and even made him smile, which I haven't seen in a while... Both times, as soon as I arrive and check in, two nurses rush me to the back, they are asking questions, one is putting in the IV and the other is checking my blood pressure. My blood pressure was elevated both times. My most recent visit, she also took my bp over my hoodie sleeve and the first thing she says is, "You're going to need to get on meds." What "nurse" isn't aware of how blood pressure work? I just walked blocks, you didn't let me sit, you're talking to me, the cuff isn't on my arm it's on a sweater and you think my readings wouldn't be elevated? Also, how can 1 or 2 readings determine medication? Giving unsolicited medical advice to a stranger whose medical history you know nothing about is condescending. She could've simply said your reading is high, follow up with your doctor. On another note, the clinic is clean, beautiful, comfortable and the receptionist was very friendly. The first time I felt like the IV helped me a lot. This last time I didn't feel any benefits.
