Our last dinner while on vacation and it was just perfect. We had a photoshoot we did before dinner…read moreso we were all nicely dressed plus hungry. Food was amazing, place was gorgeous. They even made my son french fries when he insisted on that instead of pasta :P so yeah service was great. It was the perfect last dinner on our vacation.

So, after moving to GA recently, we decided to go back for my birthday. We enjoyed the atmosphere of the old Italian look of this place. We could not have asked for a better table location as we were all the way in the back and tucked away in the corner, very private and romantic. The only issue is the circular coach seating was worn out, and I knew with bad back I might in for an uncomfortable night. The service itself was professional, but not very friendly. While most staff members seemed to smile and appeared to be enjoying themselves, our waiter acted like he did not want to be there. As for the food, it just did not measure up to the past, as there was 1 great dish, 1 OK dish, 1 not so good and 1 just bad. We started out strong with Denver Lamb Ribs with a sweet Ginger soy sauce glaze. Easily the best rib dish we ever had. We debated on our next dish between the Lobster Cocktail or Stone Crab Claw and unfortunately went for the Crab as it had years since we had some. We both agreed the Crab meat did not seem fresh as it was mushy and the sauce lacked the tang of a traditional Stone Crab sauce. We both ordered the Crispy Scored Flounder as that is the reason we came here in the 1st place. The dish is a Flounder, that is scored on both sides into easy chunks to eat, with and Apricot Shallot Sauce. Overall, it was an OK dish, but not as good as either of us remembered as it could have used more sauce on top of the fish. We finished up with a poorly executed Bourbon Pecan pie. This dish looked (see picture) and tasted not much different than a Little Debbie pie you buy in boxes of 10 at the grocery store. This small round piece of pie had zero Bourbon sauce or flavor whatsoever. The dish seemed so out of place both looking and tasting, that I went to see what others posted on yelp, and what we were served didn't even come close to previous dinners experiences. Not a great way to end my birthday dinner.

At the last minute, we scheduled Sistah Patt's Tour, and honestly this is by far the BEST ONE, and we did several here and in Charleston, while visiting from California. Sistah Patt is incredible and inspirational, fact-telling, and is currently in projects in Savannah, bringing proper recognition and truth-telling. I wish I had done a little research on her, as I did after leaving her tour...oh my, I probably would have asked so many more questions, I had no idea of the advocate she is. Let me leave you with this: Who in Savannah can change a Squares name, from Confederate Vice President (Calhoun), to Taylor Square, to honor Susie King Taylor, born into slavery, who became the 1st Black nurse to serve in the Civil War and later open a school for African Americans in Savannah? YES, Patt Gunn Can, and it happened only 2 years ago! This is the Tour you will want to do. This is the "Remarkable Woman" you will want to share/ask/listen to.

It was about $45 per person which might sound a little steep but they take you to 16 stops all over the city and you can get on and off as many times as you like (just show your ticket!) They run about every 15-20 minutes and if you stay on for the entire ride, it's about a 90 min tour. Joey was our first guide and he was so awesome that we decided to stay on 2/3 of the way through (we only got off for a "pit stop".) He was hilarious and had dad jokes for days. We really enjoyed him. They also gave us some good info...if you're interested in the squares, sit on the left, churches on the right. Every seat near the window was excellent for taking photos. I'm glad I brought an external battery, I was taking so many pictures! There is no AC but they did give us fans! And there are a lot of good coupons included in their handouts. AND a really good map of Savannah. A lot of good info. I highly recommend!

The tour was filled with fun facts and just the right amount of humor. I was even told they're doing a special female-focused tour for Women's Day soon and have other plans for limited runs and more unique tours in the future! I can't wait to see what other tours are coming soon. *Note: I have medical conditions that often lead to fatigue and can sometimes making walking tours like this difficult, and one person in our group has limited mobility (trouble with stairs mostly). We discussed these things before starting the tour, and they were able to help modify it for easier walking routes and included a few short breaks without leaving anything out! that said, this tour is an excellent option for young kids and families!

They incorporated material from guests on the bus and peppered laughs throughout the tour. It was irreverent, a little raunchy in just the right way to make you blush. One of the highlights include Danny existing the bus and taking the show to the street with innocent bystanders becoming part of the show, all while narrated inside by Danni. We covered several blocks with Danny running through the streets and squares while we laughed in the air conditioned trolly. Our guides, Danny and Dannii, were bursting with high energy and delivered non-stop humor throughout the entire experience. They skillfully wove in fascinating historical facts about Savannah while keeping us laughing the whole way around the city. A quick heads-up: the humor does get a little risqué at times, so it's definitely not for the faint of heart! The highlight (or should I say lowlight for my husband's dignity) was when he received an unforgettable "lap dance"--or more accurately, a face dance. I've never seen his face turn quite that shade of red or heard him laugh so hard. It was priceless. If you're looking for a fun, lighthearted break from the everyday routine with a good dose of levity, we highly recommend this tour. It's a hilarious way to see and learn about Savannah!
