Cute fun park & hiking trail that leads over the bridge. Family friendly and dog friendly, great for a picnic

Dogs MUST be on leash and kept under control at all times.

Families BEWARE. This is a dangerous park with dogs running around violently. Even though the rules set by the city are very clear (Dogs MUST be on leash and kept under control at all times), dog owners don't seem to care about them. If City of San Jose puts up a rule, they should enforce it. I don't feel safe taking my kids there.

Big, clean, spacious & new... River View Park is a great place for both adults & kids to enjoy. The kids playground is on the smaller side & seems like it'd cater to kids ages 2-10 years old. The flooring is soft & made of rubber so you don't have to worry about kids running around, falling down & getting hurt. I also like how it's gated, so that kids don't wander/run off into the streets. There's a few workout stations right outside the playground where you can do push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, etc. There's also plenty of grassy areas for adults & kiddos to run around, play catch, kick ball, etc. My most favorite thing about the park, however, are the basketball & tennis courts! They're huge!! And so nice!! (see the pics i posted) I play tennis & basketball from time to time, so as soon I saw the courts...you could only imagine how excited I became. Another thing i love about this park is how clean the restrooms are!! Then again, the place is still relatively new. The only reason why I didn't give this place 5 stars is because there's barely any shade! My family & I came here on a warm & sunny afternoon, and we were all sweating our butts off. We all had to crouch down below a little tree and share the little shade it provided while the kiddos played in the playground. Overall, I like this park a lot. I feel safe working out here, taking my family & dog here, and really appreciate how nice & well maintained it is.

Wonderful new park in North San Jose facing a massive also pretty new set of apartment complexes. Very close to the VTA, this park is pretty much attached to the Guadalupe trail and has a life on its own. Lots of grassy areas, picnic tables (big) where you can play chess, nice chairs attached to the floor, a couple tennis courts and tons of cute facilities for children (and adults like me who like to play). I didn't see public bathroom, but yes fountains and a nice gazebo. A very pleasant park apt for everybody.

What kind of park has a zipline?!? THIS ONE. Two seating options, one with a harness for toddlers,…read morethe other for older kids (I even saw adults using this). The park also offers a fun and inclusive space for children, with climbing structures, sturdy cement slides, swings for both toddlers and older youth, a see-saw, merry-go-round, trampoline, and spongy material making up the ground's surface. The occasional squirrel, lizard, and butterfly too. As an adult simply looking for a place to relax while waiting for my car at an auto shop nearby, I was pleasantly surprised to find this park accommodating. Dirt and concrete trails weaving through the garden, lovely vegetation in spring, and a good amount of picnic tables and benches scattered throughout. Also, a shady area with fake grass and seats made out of smoothed-out logs and tree trunks, as well as adirondack chairs where I was able to hang out and nap while I was there. It wasn't too crowded or crazy on a Friday morning, though it got busier as it neared noon time. In addition, the place offers a parking lot and clean restrooms for convenience.

The play garden has everything kiddos love -- slides, one seesaw, one round spinner, one rope climbing thing (that can also spin), swings (bucket and standard), small water play area, and a Zipline (one for little kids 3+ and one for older kids). They also have an area with tables, where someone was having a party (no idea if reservations are needed though). Expect to wait in line for a turn of the park is crowded. The play garden is fenced off from the rest of the park. They have a restroom on site. They have a small parking lot that is nearby the entrance of the play garden. I noticed some people parked on a smaller side street and walked over. I'm not sure what other parking options there are otherwise. We would return if we're in the area again and if it's less busy. It's a solid park and play area for those who live nearby.

We visited during our trip to San Diego & oh my goodness, it was absolutely amazing…read more This is such a peaceful place to sit and enjoy the beauty of nature. Located inside Balboa Park, you can tour the museums in the area, but don't forget to stop and take a moment to smell the flowers at the Japanese Friendship Garden... There were so many beautiful birds, butterflies, koi, and plants I've never seen before. The grounds were very clean and well manicured. Pricing to get in was about $60 for a family of 4 (including student pricing for our children) which may be a bit steep if you have young children with thin patience.. however, if you are able to come in and find your Zen for a couple hours, this is the spot to do so. They offer free crafts for visitors- when we were there they were doing an origami workshop, which seemed very fun. However, our kids weren't up For it- so we did not participate. Would definitely visit again in the future!

The parking fee is....fair which means you only need to come here once or twice a year. To get to the Japanese garden you need to walk a bit to find the big gate? In terms of size it is medium length. Still being built yet good enough to walk around. Lots of lush green views and refined scenery verdant for miles. You could even think of it as a mini nature get away from the busy city life It's worth the trip and you could visit the other parks if you have time for it

I had a professional photoshoot here for a…read morevery special moment in my life a few years back and still admire the shots because of the intimacy this park brought to that moment. It's not a park to have a hardcore hike but one could definitely get a good 'walk' in as the trails are easy and the crowd is generally comprised of locals from the neighborhood. I have successfully completed a 5 mile "hike" multiple times here -- just had to keep walking up and down, and all around. The park also has workout stations -- although, many of them are closed right now due to COVID19 but an average person could get a good cardio workout and get in some strength based exercises here (pull-up bars, etc.). Parking is easy as this park is aligned with a huge residential area. P.S. there are no public restrooms with the exception of seasonal porta potties so you should probably go before you plan on visiting. P.S.S. this park is popular for youngsters to "be youngsters" after hours so be cognizant if you're trying to plan a romantic date.
