At least three of the massage chairs don't work properly (or don't move up and down your back or the functions won't change). The attitudes of the ladies are not always kind either. I walked in asking for a gel manicure. I was seated and was being tended to. A few seconds later a Caucasian woman walks in asking for a pedicure. My nail technician then begins tends to her instead. The manager proceeds to tell me repeatedly, "just a few minutes and she will be with you, she is almost done with her." I have lived in South Austin all my life and never experienced such blatant racism before. I proceeded to stand up, tell them they were wrong for treating me the way they did, and that I would be taking my business elsewhere. I will never go back. My pedicure was average...The two different individuals that worked on me and my daughter had trouble with communication. My daughter's manicure/nail set was not what she requested and the girl who worked on her nails was very unprofessional. Most importantly: The man running the salon is very nice and friendly! My overall experience was mediocre. When I arrived, I was seated by the hostess and given acetone to soak my nails. 25 minutes later, I was still soaking. So I took my own hands out and, I wiped off what little residue remained. Then I sat for about 10 minutes looking at my phone before anyone said anything to me, and then it was just to tell me to put my nails back in the acetone. I refused. My hands and nails were dry and there was no polish left. The lady who did my nails (Ha- on her license) seemed to be in a hurry. She tried pulling at one of my loose cuticles with her fingernail, and it wasn't until I asked her to cut it off that she took out her clipping tools. I don't think she had been doing SNS for very long. My nails are lumpy and uneven. 3 out of 10 are great. The rest are ... meh. One couldn't be evened out because there was too much of a thick white coat underneath. I'm disappointed that my experience wasn't better. Phenomenal service. When I come here I always ask for Tom. He is very patient thorough and educate you nail upkeep. The other girls are great too. I go to them as well. My 8 year old had lost her entire nail bed and I had them put tips on her and her nails grew & healed fast. Highly highly highly recommend. This establishment may be small, but don't let that fool you. They know their craft. I also bring my teen here to get her nails done. She loves this place. Of course the wine & champagne they offer doesn't hurt. Neither does the massage chair :).They also have non alcoholic beverages as well. Over all, I don't think you will regret the experience... I will probably never go back to this salon again. I went to Living Colors because of a friend's recommendation and I recently moved from N Austin to S Austin. The staff was very nice and friendly but the massage chairs were outdated and I was too tall to sit in the chair and have my legs down comfortably. When I asked for white wine they said they were out but a girl came in later and they gave her white wine, the wine glass was also gross and had residue along the rim. I got a pedicure and a set of SNS nails. The nails were TERRIBLY done and had multiple white spots where the drill had gone down too far and the color did not cover it up. My nails were jagged around the sides and looked disgusting. I got them removed 10 days later, even though I usually wait 3 weeks or more if done correctly. Do not go here if you want a full set of SNS + Tips. They played weird TV (bull riding?) and the TV's connection was spotty and the picture went in and out. The salon is small and not very clean. This place works if you want a pedicure and are on a budget. read more

I went with my friend to get a pedicure there and even splurged for the deluxe pedicure. What we thought would be a nice, relaxing experience turned out to be miserable and we could not wait to get out of there. The TV had a violent show playing the entire time, there was a man behind the desk that was playing a disgusting game with the employees and they were loud and very unprofessional. I had the pedicure done for an upcoming vacation and the nail polish chipped one week after the pedicure so I had to buy polish on my vaca just to cover it up. Will not be returning. read more

Bad customer service. Not coming back. I wanted a basic pedicure for $23. This includes a basic polish job. I explained that I do not want polish as my nails need to breath. I came here to get a quick pedicure and remove shellac. I was told it would be $5 to remove the shellac. So $28 total. I tried to explain that it makes no sense they charge to remove shellac and when I am not having them put a polish on. The guy said it's "owner policy". I said it's robotic and I left. You just lost a costumer for being robotic and trying to make me pay for something I wouldn't receive. It's not fair and equitable service. Also the hygiene is questionable. read more

Wow they really stepped it up here! I used to come in here when I lived close and I loved the ladies here. I moved away about 3 months ago but came in here the other day to get waxed and they remodeled since I was in here last. Not only did they remodel I believe they got new chairs! These chairs are amZing, never had one so good in a nail salon. Also, they gave me a free bottle of water! New to Austin and this is the first place I tried based on reviews. I had one lady do my pedicure and almost all of the manicure. Then a manager or someone who double-checks the work of the employees finished the last topcoat and a third lady then washed my hands and massage them. The service was great and they did a wonderful job! I wish I knew the women's name that worked on me because she was very polite. $25 for a basic pedi and $23 for the gel mani. They made all my fingers rounded perfect and look the same, believe me they are all different shapes and sizes so this is like magic to me! Even better yet, no pain! The place seems a little sketch when you pull up, but it's decent on the inside and has a large selection of colors to choose from. There's something about this little joint. Perhaps it's the owner who always calls me "baby" or the fact that they aren't pushy to upgrade you. This little hole in the wall gets the job done for little $$. Where in town are you going to get a shellac or gel manicure for $25? Most places charge at least $40. My only beef with this place it that up to three different people will do your service. Sometimes the owner will start my service and then another girl will take over because she needs to answer the phone (understandable). It's just a little confusing because I like to tip cash and I end up conflicted on how to split the tip. read more

They do the best pedicures! The deluxe and above includes paraffin :). They massage you for a long time and are very thorough. I messed up my toes and they fixed them. I messed them up again after I left and came back again the next day and they fixed them free of charge. Never really have to wait here either. The best! read more
