Just OK. The day we stopped for lunch at Llewellyn's on Main was cold and snowy. Hubby and I both ordered their award winning white bean chicken chili which was not great at all. Edible, but no way award winning today. I had a kids meal added on that came with a bare chicken breast and one side-meh. Hubby ordered fish and chips entree also meh. Covid has done quite a number on Main Street restaurants, but I wouldn't recommend this chain restaurant to anyone. read more

Fun bar that has many different seating options. We visited during St. Charles Christmas celebration on Main Street in December. A huge plus was the outdoor options with fire pits, it was so relaxing to have a nice cold drink outside near a fire! Great experience. read more

(Please note that this review has nothing to do with the wait staff - our server, Chris, was very attentive and somehow managed to remember all of our orders perfectly, including substitutions and picky requests.) Friend ordered a beet and kale salad, an item on their seasonal menu. Salad arrives and it's made with mixed greens. No kale in sight. Friend politely asks for a new salad. Waiter returns with a new salad, though this time the salad was entirely arugula. Salad Bro had took the time to make sure the salad plate was populated by what be believed to be kale (bless his heart, he tried...LOL). Otherwise, the food was good and the drinks were strong. Great food and interesting building. I have eaten here a few times and will attest the food and service is consistently great! Not good, but great. The Shepherd Pie is awesome! Large crock of love. All ingredients are very tasty. A meal does not seem complete without the bread pudding. The Best bread pudding in town. The building is a historic bank building. You can eat in the vault it accommodates eight comfortably. Lots of televisions with sports and great Pub fare! read more

Ambiance is everything here, but I came here to hopefully have some tasty pub food. Came away disappointed with the food. They served the unseasoned batter fried fish on a bed of wet lettuce greens, destroying at least 50% of the crispy goodness that defines the dish. The hamburger was served on a doughy wheat English muffin that was barely toasted, not a happy marriage of texture or flavor. How does a pub mess up these featured dishes?? Instead of whipped potatoes covering a dark rich stew w/ roast beef & fresh veggies, this had what appeared to be a brown gravy from a can on top of mashed potatoes & hamburger. Neat little location right on Main Street. Used to be a bank so they have tables in the vaults - a neat experience for kiddos I'm sure. A dozen beers or so on tap and a decent selection of seltzers. 15 or so seats at the bar with another 8 tables that each seat six - so a good place to bring a group. A cool little patio is on the outside with a view to the river. Bathrooms could use a spruce up. read more

Ordered black and tan and pub burger. Drinks and food came quickly. I'm not a fan of spreadable cheese on my burger, but it was ok. The burger was done correctly and the rest of the toppings were great. I could see the game from my table, and the ambient noise was not overwhelming or dead silent. The Shepard Pie came out just barely warm. The Irish Chips came out very dark, some looking burnt. Some were raw, meaning the fry oil was dirty. $4.99 plus $1.99 for melted pepper cheese. Not worth it. The corned beef and cabbage wasn't hot either. The corned beef had decent flavor. Not much cabbage nor potatoes. The margarita was okay. We had to ask for silverware. I've been to the Webster Groves location a few times, but wasn't aware they had other locations until visiting town for the holidays this year. My dad and his girlfriend were craving burgers and when my dad suggested Llywelyn's, his girlfriend agreed but specifically requested this location (which is not the closest one to their home). I can definitely see why: the whole street has that cozy, small town vibe and all of the trees and shops were lit up with Christmas lights for the season. It was gorgeous and although the area is crowded with other diners and shoppers we didn't mind walking several blocks to from the car once we found parking. Inside was absolutely slammed. A good sign re: popularity of the place, a bad sign for a table wait. We put our name in with a friendly hostess who said it would be over an hour, but that we were welcome to grab spots at the bar if they opened up first. We got lucky and snatched two chairs at the end of the bar within about five minutes of waiting. I had a Guinness (as I feel it is my duty at a pub) but my dad got a local IPA and his girlfriend got Pinot Grigio. They have an extensive beer list on a chalkboard near the bar which includes lots of local and regional options but they also had the classics on draft. Once we got our drinks (which was almost immediately, as the bartender was quick and attentive) I surveyed the place. I remember my dad telling me it used to be a bank that was built back in the 1800s and it does have that historical vibe. They even kept the vault and it looks like there's seating inside! I assume you need reservations for that section but I thought it was awesome. The high ceilings of the place kept the noise at a reasonable volume even though it was absolutely packed full of people. Onto the food: dad got a burger and fries, his gf got a burger and Mac and cheese, and I got their seasonal autumn salad (arugula, kale, apples, dried cranberries, candied pecans, and grilled chicken with an apple vinaigrette). For a pub, I didn't expect much of the salad but it was gorgeous and delicious and very fresh! I was impressed. My dad and his gf were, as usual, super pleased with their burgers and sides as well. This unintentionally became a short novel, so here's a summary: this time of year, parking will be tricky but the food is great, the service is quick and friendly, and the atmosphere is just what you want out of a pub environment. read more

We enjoyed a wonderful meal for my daughter birthday. Our waitress felt like the girl next door, and our food was delicious. They had wonderful comfort food options like the adult grilled cheese. Llywelyn's is a great bar restaurant located in several locations around the St Louis metro region. My favorite location is on Main Street St Charles. Located in a former Bank building, this restaurant has lots of character. Ask for a table inside the Vault for unique experience! Larger vault doors with massive gears and locking mechanism adorn one side if the main dining / bar floor. Try a Guinness beer and one of their tasty entrees and you will learn to enjoy Llywelyn's. Sweet potato fries, the Shepard Pie and Rueben sandwich are some of my favorites here. They have an inviting outdoor patio with an outside bar and TV. You can enjoy scenes of Main Street and the Missouri River.They have a room downstairs for private parties. First time patrons of this pub. Our family took us here because they loved it. Great atmosphere and just a cool pub. We had Jack as our server. He was outgoing and made our visit enjoyable. The Mac and cheese appetizer was delicious! I had the Llywelyn salad with ranch and it was very good. The pub burger would have been better with a brioche or regular bun instead of a hard English muffin. The beers were good as well. Jack was attentive and made sure we were taken care of. We had dinner in the bank vault so that was really cool. They say this place is haunted which made it even a better visit. read more

If you come for drinks you won't have a problem. The food and prices is where this place lacks. The food was very bland all around and my house made chips were black. I was very surprised they would allow that quality to leave the kitchen. I asked for a side of bbq sauce since the $15 burger was dry and had no flavor. When I got the bill I realized they charged for the side of bbq. For a family of 4 (including 2 kids) our bill was over $60. We didn't even have drinks. Came during a bike ride with the kids. Called ahead and ordered fish and chips for all of us TO GO Overall a lot of food. Fish well cooked and thick. Lots of fries. For 4 people, 3 orders was enough food especially if its a lunch and it's not outside. Price was about $45 for 3 no drinks. Comes with tartar sauce. The location is good, drinks and food are on par. But the customer service is below par. It's a colder day today, they have outside heaters and were unwilling to use them for our gathering out on the patio. Spoke with the manager about it and he said we aren't quite in that season yet. And we don't have propane tanks and the heaters take a different propane tank. Ok, well, it's 55 degrees out, they use the same propane tanks and there is a full tank on the patio. Really don't understand the lack of meeting. Customer's expectations! Disappointing!! read more

Went to this place around 2:30pm on a Wednesday, approximately 10 people inside...not a busy time. We're greeted and seated quickly,server took drink and appetizer order to start our late lunch. Food and drink delivered quickly ...great. Then ordered entrees for lunch, a bowl of white chili And a fish sandwich with fries. Food shows up about 15 minutes later. The chili is lukewarm at best and the fish us piping hot while the fries were COLD. Complained to mgr on duty. What a waste of time with him, he comped meal but never introduced himself and could not answer why the food was not heated to a proper health guideline so the Public won't get sick. Came here this afternoon because my son wanted to eat here for his birthday. Sat down at at a high top (the sign said for us to seat ourselves), and we were clearly visible to the wait staff and bar staff. We sat there for 15 minutes with nobody even acknowledging us. Two people bussed tables next to us, but they completely ignored us. Finally, a bartender came to our table and threw menus down at us and asked what we wanted to drink. She very clearly was annoyed that we were there and that she had to deal with us. She brought back our drinks and left again, never asking if we wanted food. We decided at that point that we didn't want to eat there, so I had to then go up to the bar and pay for our drinks do we could leave. Horrible experience, terrible service. The best word to describe the atmosphere is "hostile". Will not be going back. read more

I absolutely love this place! The staff are friendly and I always enjoy the food and mixed drinks! Their wine selection is wonderful as well. I had a funny misunderstanding there, not anyones fault. I am british, so "fish and chips" means "fish and fries" not fish and kettle chips. I got confused as i didn't think they'd serve kettle chips with their fish. The kettle chips were very good, but i certainly prefer fries with my fish. The waitress very kindly got me some fries even though i should have assumed it would be chips of some sort with how long i have lived here. Thank you, kind staff! It was a funny misunderstanding. We went in for the all you can eat wings on Mondays. When we asked for our next round the waitress informed us they got rid of all you can eat wings four days ago. It is still up and advertised online. We asked to speak with a manager and showed them it is still advertised online and they refused to honor it. There were three of us and we won't be back. read more
