Chicken Wings (Sweet and Spicy Sauce) and Fries

Still the best wings and fries combo in St. Louis until I'm proven otherwise. Right now it's the sweet best wing that's winning the battle. Also the side salad with provel is a sleeper. Very good. Great vibes and great people. Love it there. Any chance I'm visiting back home from LA each month

Famous Chicken Strips with sweet potatos. Sweet potatos were ice when I got them.

Went with a group as we were passing through. We ordered and our server never came back to refill our drinks. We had to flag him down when we wanted something. My food was cold and they didn't seem to time the dishes very well. Some were hot. Some were cold. The toasted ravioli was the best, didn't care too much for the nachos though as they needed something. I am not convinced they used the beer cheese on it. But our server never came back for me to ask. We also had to flag him down for our check. We noticed other customers were feeling disgruntled as well with the service and kept looking around. Server started out really well but then as the night went on, got worse and worse. Buddy ordered a beer and by the time the server came back (20 mins later) he didn't want it and said remobe it from the tab. The sweet potatos were ice cold, but the strips were hot and good, more breading then chicken though. Pros : ravioli Cons: service and food temperature

This was a hopping place on a Friday night!! They shoved 8 Adults and 2 kids in a little alcove at the bar so Thank God we like each other!!! The food was ok.... The Best were the Onion Rings and Pretzel Bites. The Wings were Luke warm and has sauce just dumped in them. My Salad was the last to come out as I think they forgot it. Please stay away from the Fish n Chips. These were not good. And I hate to say it.. but it was.

I got the Thursday lunch special which was a double smash burger with American cheese topped with pulled pork and bbq sauce and a side of sweet potato fries. The smash burgers with the pulled pork was delicious. The pulled pork needs to be chopped a lot more so you can get pieces of the smash burger and pulled pork in each bite. The sweet potato fries were not served hot. The fries needed more seasoning. The restaurant was very busy and had a party vibe going on. I got excellent service sitting at the bar.

Stopped at Helen's for happy hour and as always the place was rocking!!! We only came for one but the band for the evening was Trixie Delight...and the place was packed! Very cute decor for the holidays!! Check it out!

Helen Fitzgerald's is good, but not great. It's been around for a long time, and it has a similar menu to Syberg's. Our server was friendly, and the food was alright. I got the Chicken Tender Wrap with Syberg Sauce. No complaints but wasn't wowed. Overall, an aging restaurant but not the worst in the area.

Food is always great here! Honestly, you can't go wrong with about anything on the menu. It's a casual dining area but the bar is huge. Can get pretty loud sometimes, but definitely plenty of room and they have a party room in the back for group banquets. Service was so nice. Liam took great care of us this time and checked in plenty! He was great and the staff bussing and food running were so friendly! Love this place and will continue to suggest it!

Met up with some friends for a drink here, and am still trying to figure this place out. They were on the restaurant side when we got there and had already eaten. When we arrived the waiter came by and asked if we wanted a drink. No menus or drink list. Took a while to get 2 beers, and we had to ask about a menu to pick an appetizer. Beer was room temp and filled to 2 different levels. Just odd service. Next time, I think I'll try the bar side and see if it makes more sense, still not sure why this place is so popular.

Went to Helen Fitzgeralds and ate on the patio the service was a little slow about 20 minutes to get our drink order at first but after that it was consistent. I had the shrimp special and my wife got the roast beef sandwich with beer cheese sauce on the side. My shrimp was perfect fried crispy and tender on the inside. My wife's roast beef was delicious and the cheese sauce very flavorful. We also both had side salads with our entrées the greens order perfect lots of tomato and cheese very tasty. The patio is just a patio but it was just nice to get outside for it was a nice night.

Helen Fitzgerald's is a large restaurant and has a large bar area. They had it decorated beautifully for Christmas and I really enjoyed the festive trees. Our experience was good, but not perfect. There was apparently a banquet going on in a private room so our service was very slow. We got the Pot O Gold to share which came with Syberg's wings, t-ravs, sygoons, potato skins, and pretzel bites. They were all delicious. My favorite were the sygoons and wings. My husband liked the t-ravs and he doesn't even usually like pretzels but he enjoyed the pretzel bites. I got the potato soup and it was hot and yummy. My husband had the buffalo chicken pizza with the new NootBaar Sauce. He liked it, but sadly it came to the table cold. Overall, we had a great experience and enjoyed it.

The food is average bar food. The service was slow slow slow! We sat down and waited ten minutes for a service then we couldn't find her for anything. We now remember why we only go there for the bands and NOT the food.

Wednesday nights they have Trivia and I stayed for the first round, it was very current for the current event category. Get a pizza from Katie's, go here, have a beer, have fun!

There was a little bit of a wait but we were seated within about 20 minutes. We had brought our pup with us and so patio seating was the only option. We had a trainee as our waitress, who was just okay. Friendly enough but failed to inform us that food would take over 45 minutes after ordering due to large parties inside, and she failed to keep us informed during the wait. The more senior waitress waitress to our table was better after she realized what was happening. (We had two young children at our table who were getting hungry and restless!) Food was fine. I ordered the Cajun Benedict, which didn't taste particularly Cajun. I think it was just the andouille sausage that made it Cajun. The portion size was good, and it tasted fine. My kid ate a few slices of her pizza as well, which is a good sign. Overall, just an okay experience. I'd return but not going out of my way to do so.

A one of a kind dive bar that is great for Blues games. Originally a filling station in 1904, it converted into a tavern in the 1930's. Grandfathered with local liquor licensing, TGI almost went extinct in 2010 when longtime owner Frank Rodman passed away (RIP). In 2012 it was purchased by former Blues hockey player Jim Campbell and his wife, Jennifer (a Kirkwood native), who did a thorough refresh and renovation. Jennifer's great uncle actually owned the tavern earlier in the 1960s, so it was a natural return to the family. They have a full bar with reasonably priced drinks. Didn't see a food menu (need to confirm cause looks like maybe they used to) but bar snacks (pretzels and chips). Someone ordered pizza delivered which seemed like a good option. The vibe is like you are inside a house, with couches and a fireplace. They have a small back patio to enjoy nice weather and they do allow smoking outside. For games, there's Golden Tee, a jukebox, and steel tip dart board (which was kinda blocked by Golden Tee). If you happen to be in Kirkwood and feeling thirsty, check it out. I'll definitely be back to watch more Blues Hockey!

Then I typed in some great barbecue restaurants on Yelp, and there appeared Sawmill BBQ Pub & Grill.
