After roaming around the island of Capri all day, we came to Lo Zodiaco for dinner. Lo Zodiaco is located directly in the port of Capri, and was not as crowded as it typically is during the day and for lunch. We sat at a Table that was closest to the Marina and boats which was nice. The staff was attentive and broke down the menu, and several of the wines for recommendation. I asked about the Fish of the Day, and he said "hold on one minute". A bit later he came out with a platter of fresh fish with a lobster on top. I choose the Sea Bream based on his recommendation. And it did not disappoint. When the fish was served later, he had a small table next to ours, and then proceeded to filet and debone the fresh Sea Bream right in front of us. The fish was placed nicely on my plate with some excellent potatoes in a creamy sauce. It was absolutely delicious. My wife had the steak which she enjoyed. For dessert we had some vanilla gelato and a weird upside-down tiramisu which was amazing. We really enjoyed our dinner experience, and the fantastic service we received from the staff. This place has a great location right on the water close to the docks of the Marina Grande. We got off our private boat and since we were hungry, wandered into the first place we saw which was Lo Zodiaco. The servers were great to get us seated but they were not particularly attentive as we had to keep asking them to bring things (flatware, salt, more wine) My friend had a bit of an issue with the waiter as she asked for her salad to come without anchovies and the guy stood there arguing with her that these anchovies she would like. Well he finally agreed to bring her the salad without the fish, but of course, when it showed up, the fish were present. I fared much better as I had the seafood risotto which was really good. All kinds of fresh seafood atop the creamy rice. And I loved the dish that it was served in as it was large and was painted with a big fish! We also had a pizza that the server told us was too small to share and yet it ended up being the size of a medium pizza in the US. I'm guessing that they get a lot of people who want to share food here, but I wish they had just been a little more forthcoming as to the size of the food as we almost ordered two pizzas! Food: I ordered the fish of the day which was a 1.5 lb whole sea bream. They grilled the fish and basted it with garlic citrus-butter along with some fresh herbs. The flavor, texture, and quality of the fish were all superb. They also had sea bass available but it was well over 3 lbs and probably a bit too much for me. Spent three hours here yesterday eating lunch. The food is excellent and fresh. They have a great soup filled with seafood that they are known for, it comes in a bowl that fills your side of the table. The restaurant overlooks the marina and you can watch the ferries come and go. The bathrooms were very very clean and welcoming. We were waiting for our boat back so were there quite a while, never pressured to leave. During high season, it probably is different. but not yesterday! We had the antipasti of calamari and prawns it was amazing after trying various restaurants in Capri this by far was one of the best. For our main course my wife had the chicken prepared Capri style with lemon, orange and almonds her first bite of this dish her face fell and rose in sheer ecstasy I felt the same range of emotions as the chicken was so tender simple and flavorful. Capri has the best collection of restaurants with awesome views. This place is right on the harbor where the ferries all dock (Marina I guess) and the food was fantastic. The staff is helpful and very proud of winning awards on trip advisor (and rightly so!). The caprese pizza, famous for using Capri tomatoes and ingredients is the BEST pizza I've eaten in Italy so far. The cheese is perfectly moist, and the tomatoes are absolutely excellent. We ordered pizza that the menu explained had sausage and broccoli. Admittedly that sounds like a strange combo. As it turned out, the pizza had no broccoli, lots of spinach and not very much sausage. The location is pretty interesting right in the middle of the marina grande with boats coming and going every few minutes. There are ambulances going by and taxis racing amongst the crowd for space. The flies are fighting for their share of the food. We also got a Caesar salad that our waiter forgot to order for us and maybe it would've been better if we had just let that go, as it was pretty greasy and too heavy on the mayonnaise when it finally arrived. Our waiter asked if we enjoyed the food and when I said I didn't enjoy the salad, he said something in Italian and gave us a check without the salad on the bill. We thought that was nice until a young man ran chasing us outside of the restaurant saying he had given us the wrong check and demanded another €20. Eat elsewhere. read more

I can't say enough about Lo Zodiaco. My boyfriend and I went last summer and we still talk about how we have to go back again this summer. I found this gem online a few weeks prior to our trip and emailed the restaurant about reserving a table. Roberta emailed me with a confirmation and reserved "the nicest table available" and she wasn't kidding. We had a beautiful table outside next to the boats that were docked for the evening. The location is slightly out of the way in an area that gets quiet at night, which made for a intimate setting and a gorgeous view. Our waiter, Chocolatino, was incredible- he was engaging and gave great suggestions, we even let him pick our dinner for us. We told him we wanted to try a bit of everything and we were in no rush. We started with the crudo (hands down the best I have ever had), tried a few pasta dishes and moved on to a fish baked in salt that was delivered from a fishing boat that morning. The bottle of wine Chocolatino suggested was so good we had 4 shipped to us after returning home. The evening finished with espresso, house-made apple liqueur and homemade nutella filled donuts that were so amazing even my non-sweet-tooth boyfriend was in love. At the very end of the night a small fishing boat pulled up to the dock in front of our table to deliver the smallest, most delicate prawns you have ever seen. Chocolatino took several of them right from the ocean directly onto a plate in front of me- they were out of this world. Lo Zodiaco was incredible, from the amazing meal to the service, view, atmosphere, all of it. We even met the owner, the manager and his lovely wife Roberta who helped me make reservations. I should mention, we loved it so much we came back for dinner the following night and they did not disappoint. Came here for lunch yesterday after visiting la grotta Azzura. We had a beautiful table by the water but once again service was the issue. We ordered drinks and food right away because we were starving. The drinks took 30 min to arrive. Funny part is the food came out before the drinks did. We Ordered a pizza, calzone and octopus salad. The pizza and calzone were good nothing great. The ratio of crust to pizza was completely off. There was so much crust I could have fed an army of birds and barely any filling. The octopus salad was good, But I've had better. So here's where I really got annoyed. After our 2 hour lunch ordeal (extremely slow service) we wanted another round of drinks and I kindly asked one of the servers if we couuld get some more drinks. The old mean grouch clearly herd me but ignored me, so i asked again. Before I could finish my sentence that old prick turns around and yells "THE RESTAURANT IS CLOSED!!!!" Tourist trap of Capri! Through my Italy travels, I've been to Rome, Florence, Venice, Amalfi Coast, Milan, and Cinque Terre... And this was the worst meal I've had. After our nice private bout tour, we got off and was feeling very hungry and not only was this the closes since it was located right on the beautiful dock of Capri, but it also had lots of raving reviews on TripAdvisor. To start with the service, it was the most awful one we received... Our sever left a cold sour experience in the air and it seemed like for everyone that was dining there as well... Perhaps maybe he had a bad day, but he was really rude. The food... everything was very mediocre and overpriced. The raw fish selection was skimped, and not the freshest... So many reviews said the pizza was good here so why not get The Caprese Pizza when in Capri right? Unfortunately it tasted like a regular cold cheese and tomato salad on a a thick flatbread. The dough was so thick, tough, and wet. Our grilled fish of the day was over-cooked and bland. We were a group of four who wanted to just share a few things to hold our hunger up while we rush to get other things done in Capri... But just to order those three appetizer it took us an hour and a half to finish because everything took so long to come out. We ordered the top things that were recommended by the server and TA but this restaurant was one of the ones that serves small portions for an expensive cost with an underwhelming flavor on top of bad service. This was the worst dining experience ever that it really ruined my group of friend's mood after our amazing boat ride... I would never come back here if I ever visit Capri again. read more

Read the * because it tells you if fresh ingredients aren't available, frozen ingredients are used. Even the sauce was runny, the cheese was clumpy like what you get at he market. This place is among the best locations- right along the beautiful Capri coast. The food was also fantastic- surprisingly good given the touristy area. We were interested in what was fresh and our server brought over a huge blue lobster with eggs (caviar). The server didn't pressure us at all- we decided not to order it since we weren't that hungry.
