    Smoked vanilla latte

I finally got to try Loba! We swung through on a rainy morning for coffee and pastries. Loba has been on my want to try list for a while so when I found out we were just down the street, we finally paid them a visit! The outside is pretty unassuming but the interior is so cute! The staff working was so nice I wanted to talk to her all day. I told her this was my first visit and she gave me some recommendations on what to order. We went with the sourdough banana chocolate chip muffin, mole croissant, and emmie. Let me tell you these pastries blew our MIND. I wish we filmed ourselves eating them because our jaws were on the floor over how good everything was. The sourdough banana muffin was probably our favorite. It was moist and fluffy with a crunchy top - so good! The mole croissant: a crazy flavor combination! Sweet at first but then the mole and a hint of spice hits. The emmie was so unique too, the outside is crunchy but the inside super soft and light. It's slightly sweet and oat-y. To drink I got the smoked vanilla latte and my husband went with the 7 spiced mocha. Both were good! Definitely will be back to explore more of the pastries. I cannot wait!

I finally stopped by this neighborhood coffee shop today and it was lively, there was a steady line of people coming in while we ate there. Pastries were being refilled quickly! I ordered the emmie and a Chipotle scone. The emmie reminded me of a canele, crisp on the outside, soft and chewy inside, which I love. The Chipotle scone was a pleasant surprise and gave a great savory contrast, so I'm glad I got both. They didn't have matcha lattes (my usual go-to), but the friendly service totally made up for it. Even with a long line, the person who took my order was patient and kind, walking me through each item and answering my questions without rushing. The space itself is clean, cozy, and has those perfect corner coffee shop vibes. Definitely a spot I'd come back to.

Review is for merely one pastry. I assumed there'd be a huge line evocative of other Uber popular party shops so o showed up right when they opened. To my dismay there were only 3 pastries available while they were hard at work in the kitchen. I indulged in a banana & chocolate muffin which was actually pretty good albeit the chocolate flavor severely dominating the banana. I'd love to return to try their more experimental throngs I e seen online.

My friend brought me here and said it's usually packed with a line out the door but we got lucky and got in right before the rush. Still had to wait about 30 minutes around 11 AM. The menu is simple and seasonal so it changes often. I got a vanilla latte and a mix of pastries to try. The miso pastry had amazing chewy bread but the sauce was kind of confusing. I love miso but this version tried to be sweet and salty at the same time and didn't totally hit for me. Probably a 3/5. The blueberry sourdough cupcake was better. Tart and unique, 4/5. The elote pastry was so savory and flavorful, 5/5. Also loved the nutty one with icing on top. Sweet 5/5. By the time we left the line was fully out the door. There are maybe 7 to 10 seats inside so don't expect to sit unless you get lucky. I'd definitely come back to try more pastries and whatever seasonal drinks they have next.

Always a treat when visiting and they open at 8am on weekends now which is great. We tried: - Monkee Caramel Blondie - Strawberry Sourdough Muffin - Mary Jane - Coconana (coffee)

Loba Pastry & Coffee is such a bright, minimalist gem. The space feels clean and modern with warm wood counters, globe pendant lights, and tons of natural sunlight pouring in -- the kind of place that instantly lifts your mood. I ordered a latte (with the prettiest leaf latte art ), and it was smooth, creamy, and perfectly balanced -- not too sweet, not too bitter. You can tell they care about the details. The presentation alone makes it feel elevated, but the flavor absolutely delivers too. The vibe is calm but lively, with friendly baristas and a steady flow of locals grabbing their morning coffee. It's a great spot to catch up with a friend, enjoy a solo coffee date, or just soak in the cozy atmosphere. Definitely a neighborhood favorite kind of place -- simple, quality coffee done right.

Pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon. Heard great things and was able to stop by. There was a small line but it moves fast. I tried the almendra en flor, the seasonal drink. I liked it, although it was a bit more thin and watery coffee than I like. I also tried their coconut sourdough slice, which was great. Just a thick slice of sourdough spruced up with a honey syrup. I'd come back to try the pastries.

2025 Chicago. Cafe & Pastries. Emmie (GF) This oat-based custard resembles a French canelé. Crunchy dark outside, soft custard inside; a Loba Pastry staple Mole Croissants Croissant laminated with house-made mole. (Sundays and Mondays only) Seasonal Flavor (June): yellow mole with dark chocolate Blondie A buttery, not too sweet blondie, made with seasonal vegetables, topped with salted caramel and a little crunch. Currently serving a carrot blondie with a miso caramel, topped with crushed roasted nuts Overall, "I'm a fan." Note: Laptops prohibited

I lovedddd it here! The space is so cute with lots of natural light and good design. It's a little small, but we were able to get a table on a Saturday morning. The rush of people ebbed and flowed, but it was never unbearably busy. I got an iced oat milk latte and the cheese Quoin Amman and it was one of the best pastries I've had in a while and super unique! I will definitely come out of my way to come back here!

We arrived Saturday, just before 10:00 am, to a line that only grew by the minute - and for good reason! These pastries are something special. I swear there were literally hundreds of thin, flakey, delicate, buttery layers that made up the base of my mascarpone and berry jam topped pastry. The curry white chocolate scone was just as unique as it sounded and beyond tasty. The space is small and the team behind the counter is friendly, taking time to explain to each customer any pastry questions they may have before ordering. The back offers a long, rectangular window into the pastry prep room where multiple women were hard at work. Their pastries seem to rotate by the day, and I wanted to go back the next morning and the next and the next!

Great service, great selection of pastries, and awesome all around. Tucked away on a busy a corner, loba is a great pitstop for a beverage and bite. The pastries are made in house and you can actually see the process when you walk in. The coffee and non coffee options are made to order. The espresso is of quality and ive heard the cold brew is pretty stellar too. There menu always contains something different and experimental like curry white chocolate or mole. Definitely give this place a try.

Good Emmie, tasted like Canelé but in a different shape. The coffee was ok, but was too thin and not thick enough to me. I gave a 4 star mainly because the staff did not make me feel comfortable ordering my food. At first they asked me to go or for here (there were so many people inside at that time), but when I said for here, they asked again with a little sharp tone like, "do you have a table?". This made me feel less satisfied with Loba, even though I thought highly of them. Probably would not come again for such a crowded environment and experience that perhaps not being relaxing.

    Lico J.

I really this place. The pastries are unique, not overly sweet or with a lot of cream or other "decor", and the coffee is not bad. My favorites are the croissants and emmies. The emmies are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside - tastes like a bigger Canelé. They are always busy in the mornings on weekends. The space is small but cozy and people just wait in a line for their baked goods.

We got two cupcakes to share -- the purple velvet and the main squeeze. The purple velvet is ube butter cake, ube mousse, and ube cake crumbs. The ube flavor is both sweet and nutty and the mousse topping was light and delicious. The main squeeze is lemon cake filled with lemon curd, cream cheese frosting, and a buttercream lemon on top. Both were incredible, but my favorite was the lemon! I loved that the lemon flavor was light, and the cream cheese frosting balanced it out really nicely. The space is so cute inside! It's also a lot larger than I was expecting. We grabbed a seat at one of the tables inside to enjoy our treats. I will definitely be back with my toddler for a cupcake date soon!

I especially liked the longanisa breakfast sandwich and chicken adobo. I'm so glad that they were willing to make the breakfast sandwhiches beyond 12pm for some of us waiting in line. Fyi they normally stop making the breakfast sandwhiches at noon. Be prepared to wait in line for at least an hour, this spot is super popular. I also really enjoyed the chicken adobo. The chicken was tender and I thought the hint of sweetness from the coconut flakes sprinkled on top was a pleasant touch. I also really liked the Manila fog drink - it wasn't too sweet or overpowering. For the ube huckleberry basque cake - I mostly tasted tartness from the huckleberry and not so much ube, but it was good regardless. The staff were all pretty nice. When we arrived there was a huge line, so I wouldn't recommend trying to dine in unless you wanna wait for hours. Matcha latte (3/5): just ok, could use more matcha powder. Filipino Breakfast (4/5): upgraded to both meats which I'd recommend, solid platter but a little pricey. Hashbrown Sandwich (3/5): average, wish they included some kind of sauce like a chipotle aioli. Would skip this and get the Filipino breakfast instead. Apple Pastry (4/5): flakey and delicious. Ube basque cake (4/5): didn't really taste the Ube but it was still good. Overall solid spot for breakfast, I would come back for their Filipino breakfast and to try more of their pastries.

I was skeptical at first because it is a local chain, rather than a singular location. However, it lived up to the hype. Service: it was extremely busy when we came in. The line was almost out the door. They have a system in place for ordering and seating so it worked well and fast given how busy they were. We didn't have any questions on where to order or where to stand when waiting for a seat. The staff were friendly and helped us find a spot to sit at. Ambiance: classic cafe in a city. Loud chatter, but it's a vibe. Very colorful and fun interior with cool textural elements. We had a seat that was facing the street so it was fun to people watch as we sipped and ate. Food: amazing breakfast selection! We ordered the morning sandwich and barbacoa bowl. The morning sandwich had THICK scrambled eggs which were super soft and tasty. I could've used more salsa verde on it. The bread was barely toasted. I'd rate the sandwich a 3.8/5. It got the job done. The barbacoa bowl was "really good" according to my fiancé. A great source of protein, fresh ingredients, nice flavor, and great portions. He would rate it a 5/5. Coffee: I am a coffee snob so I am quite harsh when it comes to reviewing it. Their machine is a cute La Marzocco. Appropriate sized "for-here" glasses according to the drinks. Plus, they were really cute. Wide variety of drink selection from your standards to the more girly-drinks (if there is such a thing). We ordered a cappuccino and small hot mocha. Latte art 4.5/5, temperature 5/5, flavor 4/5. The espresso didn't stand out to me, very standard flavor profile. However, the chocolate in the mocha was delicious. It's more of a rich, dark chocolate. Nice thin layer of foam. We visited around noon on a Sunday, and after reading the reviews here, I wasn't optimistic there would be many pastries left. Maybe I should play the lottery, because luckily there was no line and a pretty good selection of pastries left. The staff were super friendly and there were so many unique flavors of baked goods. We decided to split several and opted for the blueberry cloud cookie, chai cinnamon roll, banana pudding croissant, espresso cornflake cookie, and potato focaccia. The shop was more of a small take-out operation, so we took the pastries to a nearby park to eat. Everything was absolutely divine! The group favorite was the focaccia- the creamy potatoes and cheese brought a rich flavor that was perfectly balanced by the fluffy bread. The chai roll was perfectly soft and delicately spiced, completed with that soft cream cheese frosting and gooey center we all like to see. My personal favorite was the banana pudding croissant- the dough was so crispy that I'm pretty sure others could hear the bite, and there was a generous amount of filling with fresh bananas and visible vanilla beans in the whipped cream. The espresso cookie was super soft- while I couldn't taste the espresso very clearly, I absolutely *loved* the caramel-coated cornflakes topped with sea salt. Super unique and would definitely order again. Despite their decadent appearances, none of the pastries were too sweet. Already plotting a return visit and can't recommend this shop enough!
