Peter Pan has the best donuts I've ever had! The donuts were incredibly fresh, fluffy, and soft,…read morewith that classic flavor you expect from a true neighborhood donut shop. The Boston cream had a rich, smooth filling with the perfect chocolate glaze, and the strawberry sprinkles donut was perfectly sweet and nostalgic. What makes this place special is that it's both affordable and consistently delicious! They have all the classic flavors but also some specialty donuts if you want to try something different. The old-school ambiance gives it a real Brooklyn charm, and it feels like stepping back in time. Just remember to bring cash because it's cash only; but it's absolutely worth it.

Peter Pan Donut & Pastry Shop is a classic old-school donut spot in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, renowned…read morefor its freshly made donuts, including favorites like Honey Dipped, Red Velvet, and Boston Cream. The shop has a retro vibe reminiscent of a 1950s diner, offering a wide range of pastries, sandwiches, and breakfast options, making it a beloved local fixture for over 60 years. During a visit to Greenpoint, Brooklyn, I decided to explore the local food scene. As I researched, this donut shop kept coming up as a top favorite among locals. My daughter and I stepped inside, and it was buzzing with activity. The place had a nostalgic feel, and it's a cash-only establishment. There are so many donuts to choose from, but my daughter went with a Red Velvet, while I opted for a Sugar Raise--a classic sugar donut because it was my first time here and I wanted something simple. The donuts were decent. The Sugar Raise wasn't extraordinary, but it was fresh. I gave my daughter's Red Velvet a try, but it didn't quite hit the mark; instead of a subtle cocoa-vanilla flavor, it was pretty heavy on the chocolate. The service was friendly, and I'm glad we took the chance to visit this longstanding bakery, which has been around for more than six decades.

These mini donuts are unreal. I could use these for snack during work hours, except I don't work…read morearound here, so that's a disappointment. Anyways, one order of the mini donuts, they are super customizable and if you need help picking and choosing flavors and toppings, the staff member can provide suggestions and pairings. I got the Ube and Pistachio and they both taste great, especially when they're freshly made and warm. I've also tried the Strawberry Covered Chocolates and those strawberries were massive. The problem with massive strawberries is eating them. If I had a knife, I could cut them into smaller pieces as eating them on a skewer stick got really messy. Also the strawberry itself overpowered any of the chocolate taste, so it didn't balance well in terms of taste. For sure favored the milk chocolate over the dark chocolate.

Such a great spot to grab fresh dessert! The items taste as good as they look and even though it's…read morea small stand, there are so many flavors. I opted for the mini donuts with strawberry and ube flavors with sprinkle and snowy milk as the toppings. I also added fresh strawberries - and did I mention that the donuts are made fresh? All of that for just $13. I loved the mochi texture of these treats and I am looking forward to trying to new flavors next time! I was also eyeing the croffles because they looked almost like ice creams. You can get these to go or if you'd like to eat as you roam around, the owner will put them in a paper boat/container for you. She was so patient and makes all of her treats fresh it seems. Can't wait to come back to try the croffles!

For so long, the Upper East Side was in desperate need of a really good donut shop. I'm not talking…read moreabout Dunkin, although there's a time and place for that. I'm talking about an establishment that makes high-quality gourmet treats. As you can imagine, I was thrilled to see this one opening in the neighborhood last year. I have been to Caroline's several times since it opened its doors to the public. I've tried a few of their items, including the glazed twist, Boston creme, coffee donut, and strawberry filled. The glaze twist is one of my favorites. It's wonderfully sweet while not cloying, and I especially enjoy topping it with the Bon Mama berry jam I have at home. The Boston creme is truly made with love. It's sufficiently stuffed with creme and topped with a thick layer of chocolate ganache - the expensive stuff! The coffee donut is also delicious. Of everything I've tried, the strawberry filled was my favorite. You can tell their strawberry compote is homemade and not too sweet. The dough is light and fluffy and generously coated with granulated sugar. What a treat!

Yet, at $5 a donut on average it was a bit pricey for this area. I went there a few times to try it out but I could not justify paying that much.
