I walked in on a fairly chilly night. I've seen Bear Donut a lot on social media, especially the owner of the store who also happens to be a dentist. I needed a sweet pick-me-up after missing a train home. While the ice cream flavors looked interesting, I opted for a blue coconut iced matcha latte instead. Aside from the striking visuals, the drink tasted great. There was sweetness from the matcha and the coconut but not super overtly sugary. I also got a box of four donuts. They're a little pricey, but each donut is a pretty hefty ring of chewy glutinous rice flour batter. I had them the following morning, and the donuts still tasted fresh. There was a little bit of oiliness from the frying, but it did not taste off or too greasy. I think this is from the meticulous frying process and good management of the oil. I got the Cookies and Cream, Rose, Lavender, and Pistachios. I loved the Rose and Lavender flavors, especially the lavender which had a solid floral flavor without being perfume-y. I look forward to trying other donuts and sweets from Bear Donut in the future!
I always love when the inside of a good experience is bright ! Walking into to Bear Donut - the vibe is vibrant and soft on the eyes. You immediately are greeted the magical looking donuts - colorful and appealing. There were so many that I wanted to try but I went with my peanut butter obsession and tried the PB&J culinary dream donut. It was loaded with delicious strawberry jelly and peanut butter. I would say my favorite peanut butter donut in NYC at this point . Airy, sweet, fresh - it checked all the boxes .
~*Donut worry, be happy*~ I love me some pastries! I stopped by Bear Donut, a dessert eatery located on 31st Street in the K-town neighborhood of Manhattan. It's an adorable shop with an interior that is reminiscent of a retro donut pub - a blue & white color scheme, white tile walls, marble counters, neon signs, mosaic flooring, etc. There's two small benches for eating in, but this is more of a grab-and-go spot. The display cases are filled with vibrant, colorful, and decorative donuts that are hand-dipped and topped with drizzles, glazes, and specialty toppings. Everything is freshly baked daily! Many of the flavors are Asian-inspired with Korean flair. They're known for... *Mochinuts - a donut in the shape of 8 connected dough balls in a ring with a crispy exterior and chewy interior made from sticky rice flour(mochi) *Brionuts - a cream-filled donut made with a higher content of butter & eggs, resulting in a softer, fluffier, and more buttery texture that's similar to French brioche bread In addition to donuts, they offer a variety of other sweet treats and drinks to satisfy your cravings - ice cream, soft serve, sundaes, matcha, tea, coffee, dessert lattes, hot chocolate, and more. Like the donuts, many of the flavors are Asian-inspired. The staff was friendly and helpful. I ordered two brionuts: *Double Milk Tea $5 - If you love a classic bubble tea, then this flavor is for you! The cream filling tasted EXACTLY like a black milk tea with tapioca pearls. The tea flavor was strong and full-bodied, but not too bitter. The bakers nailed this! *Strawberry Milk $6 - Not my favorite out of the two, but still enjoyable. After trying the milk tea flavor, this paled in comparison. The filling didn't have an intense strawberry flavor. I expected it to be more pronounced and tart. It was on the sweeter side and maybe tasted a bit artificial? The freeze dried strawberry topping and powdered sugar were nice touches. The dough was pillowy, airy, and filled with generous amounts of cream. I didn't really taste a strong butter or egg flavor from the bread. The fillings are fluffy and soft with a texture similar to whipped cream. They don't use custards, jams, or compotes - you might consider this a good thing because they would be a lot sweeter if they did! Overall, the brionuts weren't overly sweet or dense. The portion size was just right. So it's the perfect treat to have if you don't want to feel a heavy sugar rush. I definitely need to try more flavors! I wish I got a mochinut, but I'll save that for my future visits ;) They're opening a location in Englewood, NJ this month -- I cannot wait!!!
I tried the ube matcha and the banana donut, the matcha was nice not much ube taste but it was still good and the donut was delicious loved the flavor and definitely want to try some other flavors. The service was friendly and quick only one other person ahead of me. They have ice cream and lemonade. Not much seating in the shop.
Went to bear donut for the first time and the woman behind the counter was so great by explaining the donuts to me! I got a 4 box of donuts and they were absolutely delicious! They were all extremely fresh and I ate them the next day and they were delish too!!! Will have to go back to try their ice cream! Flavors were super unique too!!
Finally made it out here and honestly people need to be talking about them more for their mochi donuts! i got the espresso toffee one which had a really nice crunch as the topping and the coffee flavor was nice and bold and overall it was definitely on the sweeter side, though the texture of the donut was sooooo nice and chewy, and not too sticky/made your teeth feel sticky either. Definitely one of the best mochi donuts in the city. It's a shame they're a little out of the way in Ktown but i'm glad they're still open after several years of knowing about them and I hope they continue to stay open for a long time. Please show them some love, their mochi donuts are excellent, and best in the Ktown area for sure! They also have some other items as well including drinks and other dessert options so check those out too!
I've been to Bear Donut several times and would say that this is a pretty solid place. I personally think their cream-filled brioche donuts are one of the best since the cream filling is light and not too sweet. I haven't tried their mochi donuts, maybe someday! May 2022 visit: I got their thai tea soft serve and it was decent! Not much thai tea flavor going on but it was refreshing and satisfied my sweet craving. July 2022 visit: This time, I got their matcha brionut and it was soooo good. There's definitely a lot of filling inside so be prepared to have a napkin in hand to wipe your mouth lol. December 2022 visit: For this visit, I got their peanut butter and jelly brionut and dirty choco brionut. I enjoyed the peanut butter and jelly brionut more since the flavors were more interesting and unique compared to just a simple chocolate filled donut. July 2024: I don't remember the exact name of this flavor but I think it was a blueberry cream cheese brionut. This was way too sweet, I couldn't even finish it, and that is why I have to give this place four stars instead of five. I would love to try their double milk tea brionut someday though since I feel like it would be similar to the matcha brionut I had back in May 2022.
Pretty good donuts. Really liked the coconut mochi donut. The Dubai crunchy cookie thing was a mochi filled with Dubai chocolate. It was good but pretty dense. Maybe the strawberry one would have felt lighter. Would recommend the mochi donuts.
Wanted to see what the hype was about for these donuts! They have a pretty large selection of donuts to choose from. I was surprised about the texture. It's not your traditional donuts. It has tapioca flour inside which makes it chewy, like mochi. They also have a lot of variations of matcha! If you like matcha, come check this place out. The inside is very small like your typical donut shop. The staff are attentive and quick, just what you need for the morning rush before work!
Bear Donut is an adorable shop! Their mochi donuts definitely catch your eye with how beautifully decorated they are. I went with their pink chocolate donut (so pretty!) and it was texturally light & chewy. Really enjoyed it. Drinks were quite lackluster though. The seasonal Strawberry Lavender Latte's flavoring tasted way too artificial unfortunately. Next time, I would definitely try more of their donuts, but would pass on the drinks.
The CUTEST sweets shop I've been to in a while. I love the interior design. The concept is straightforward, modern and light without being overwhelming. I'm usually not a fan of donuts for breakfast, especially flavor filled ones as they tend to be too sweet. However, what I will say is the strawberry milk donut is on the milder side of the sweetness scale. I think it helps that the filling is whipped cream rather than icing or custard, really cutting that sweetness. The donut itself is airy, fruit topping was nice and fresh & overall was the perfect size portion wise. Bear Donut overall exceeded any expectations I could've had for a sweets and coffee shop. The prioritization of cleanliness and customer satisfaction/service is evident when you walk in to Bear Donut, so is a place I certainly recommend anyone visit. If I lived in NYC I would definitely be a regular here.
Really good donut spot with super nice staff and lots a very spacious hip and clean location. I tried the jelly and glazed. Both of them were amazing.

The Dubai Chewy Brionut is one of the best & most unique donuts I've ever had. The outer layer is like biting into a soft tiramisu mochi pillow. Then the sweet brioche layer. Finally, the kataifi & pistachio center. The crunchy sweetness of this beloved flavor combo is undefeated. The friendly staff deserve their flowers for this deliciously incomparable treat. Get your Brionut whenever you're near K-Town. This cozy & quiet donut shop also has a smaller cookie cousin (Dubai Chewy Cookie) to the Brionut. I pity the fool who doesn't get both. read more
I came here with friends on a Saturday afternoon because of their summer bingsu collaboration. We got one of each flavor to split and try all of them - the tomato basil, the bear oreo, and the matcha. I was a little excited and very skeptical of the tomato basil since that was a unique flavor. My friends loved it and it was their favorite but I absolutely hated it, but it was good to try nonetheless. The matcha was nothing special and the bear Oreo was actually quite plain and I feel like is not worth it. The base layer of the shaved ice was almost tasteless - didn't really taste like vanilla or milk, and it was just sprinkled with Oreo. I would rather just buy my own pack of Oreos and eat that. They have outdoor seating which was nice. read more

I've been eyeing Bear Donut for a while, and the first bite made the wait worth it. I usually avoid lavender-flavored anything (unless I want to feel like I'm eating a candle), but their lavender mochi donut changed my mind. It was subtle and fresh, paired with a perfectly chewy, pull-apart texture. I also grabbed a strawberry milk donut, which was the definition of 'cloud-like'--light, airy, and hitting that specific strawberry-cream craving. Came to try the viral dubai chewy cookie. The chewy exterior contrasted nicely with the crunchy interior. It was actually sweeter than I thought it would be. Heads up that the cup it was packaged in, smelled greasy which makes sense because it's a donut shop. But the liner smelled a little foul. It's nice to try once but I won't be getting it again. They're a cute little donut shop with an impressive variety of flavors, broken out into Mochi and brioche styles. I loved seeing a savory option, like the scallion cream cheese. While it did lean savory, I found it was still a bit too sweet, from the whipped cream. Overall, it was still delicious! read more

I was staying at Hyatt next door and saw that they have Bingsu. Went and got Marcha and Tomato Basil. Marcha was rich and deep flavor with excellent red beans inside. Tomato basil was amazingly tasty. The service was great. I highly recommend this donut place for Bingsu. read more

Stuffed donuts: 4/5 matcha ($5) - great matcha flavor, not too bitter 4/5 double milk tea ($5) - really good, just wish the tea was stronger 3/5 crème brûlée ($6) - not a fan since too sweet, but the caramelized top was a bit bitter which helps balance the diabetes sweet 2/5 strawberry milk ($6) - disappointing, don't get, tastes artificial maybe? read more
Saddest mochi donut I've ever eaten :( Maybe being from California, I've been spoiled with yummy mochi donut options. 1. Cookies & cream: tasted very chemically. Don't know what's wrong 2. We stumbled on this place going home. As soon as I looked in the window, I fell in love. I walked in And was greeted by the young man that worked there He was kind, courteous, and knowledgeable I asked about medical alternatives and the lady that was there with him quickly responded The assortment of donuts are really good I got a glaze for my wife who loved it and I got myself a peanut butter and jelly. It was amazing to the point where I licked my fingers!! My wife got a vanilla latte with oat milk and it was delicious I highly recommend checking the spot out read more
I got two lavender donuts for delivery. Unfortunately I only received one donut... which was kind of sad but the donut itself was sooo good! Perfectly chewy mochi texture, not too heavy or oily, and the lavender frosting was perfectly sweet. The cold brew latte was also really good! I came here at the end of the day, so selection was limited. I would say what I got was alright, but not fantastic. We got 3 donuts - rose, passionfruit, and strawberry milk. I didn't love the taste of the rose flavored donut, but the donut was soft and chewy. I thought the passionfruit one tasted better, and it also had a great texture. The strawberry milk donut was soft, but I didn't love the flavor of the cream. I would need to come back when they are in stock with more popular flavors to give a better judgment on the donuts, but overall I thought they weren't bad. read more

I didn't like mochi donuts , until I came here the pistachio, chocolate crunch, lavender and i believe maple something were outrageous. Soft and flavorful and not overly sweet. I had the lavender mochi donut with the swirl soft serve icecream. So good. The brioche donuts took my breath away. The tiramisu was 10 star. The chocolate powder like italy. The melon was like honey dew heaven. The filling was as good as the outside. The icecream epic. The ricotta and fig was as if the figs were plucked off the tree. The scallion donuts took it. 1000 stars. It was so ny. It was like a scallion cannoli cream but lighter and not as sweet. read more

This place is serving donut shop aesthetic and cold brews with a side of attitude. I had the lavender cold cream cold brew and it was giving floral fairy dream. My boyfriend asked for non-dairy milk but got moo moo milk instead--staff might need a little more training before they can espresso themselves confidently. Still, the donuts were a whole vibe, the branding is adorable, and the bear mural makes for the cutest photo op. Might be back to give them a second shot... if they remember the nondairy milk next time and would try some donuts! Don't come here after you already had a meal because you will probably end up eating another! The donuts are all so enticing, both the mochi and the brioche donuts. I was so excited to try the brioche donuts since that's not as common. I loved all the flavors but the standouts for me were the matcha and milk tea. The tea flavor was very strong and balanced well with the delicate cream. Can't wait to try more flavors when I have more stomach space. read more
Clean, bright shop with several seats inside and a pretty big outdoor seating area. We tried the passion fruit donut topped with chocolate soft serve, served with two little bear cookies as ears. The donut is more on the chewy side, which I like. The chocolate soft serve is my favorite. It's rich in chocolate flavor without being too heavy with the right amount of sweetness. I found Bear Donut as I passed by a couple times and saw they sell hot chocolate with marshmallows. So I came back later and got that. The hot chocolate was real drinking chocolate and you can get it with any type of milk. I got it with oat milk. The hot chocolate was on the border of too sweet but I still liked it. I also got some donuts. I got a box of 6. My favorite was the raspberry and the chocolate with chocolate cereal on top. I also likes the lavender. The seasonal strawberry filled one was ok. The plain glaze was the best. I also got a strawberry donut. All the donuts seem to be made with rice flour as they are all a bit chewy in texture. Tip: behind the donut counter is a rack where the freshly made donuts are. You can ask them what donuts are freshly made and request those. read more

Tried the tiramisu donut and it was delicious! Just the top layer sugar glaze was too sweet for me but inside the tiramisu donut was perfect and creamy !! Will come back try the double milk tea ! read more

I tried the Glazed Mochi-Pistachio donut and it was delicious and soft, not too sweet. I need to go back to try other flavors especially the cream-filled brionut.
