This is by far one of my fave Italian bakeries to get the Bomboloni (Italian donuts) where theirs are thicker then other places, soft and fluffy filled with generous different flavors of decadent cream. I was genuinely impressed by the quality and authenticity of everything I tried. Recently stopped into Zeppola Bakery, as I walked home from work in the chilly January weather. I won't lie: I was as drawn in by the warmth of this establishment (both physically and vibe-wise), as I was their treats. Though those looked terrific, too. Their freshly made desserts successfully beckoned me inside. And once I went in and scoped out their offerings up close and personal, I was pretty blown away. Everything looked so thoughtfully crafted and amazing...enticing, really...as though IRL reality had a filter on it. Pretty much everything popped OUT, but I had to choose one or two items, so as not to go overboard. Well, I chose a delicious looking Italian doughnut with custard cream as well as an incredibly seductive chocolate almond cake (which is gluten free, btw). When I went home, I announced to my spouse that Valentine's Day came early this year, yipppeeee, and we dug into these good looking goodies. They were both exquisite, as was their customer care there (in the bakery); so, I/we would def return for more yumminess. Thank God for the Italians. Everything looks great in the window and the cases and staff was helpful. I chose the Chocolate round croissant which looked so decadent. A cute little bakery that serves delicious pastries! I came by on a Thursday morning and there was a small line. I tried the pistachio croissant and the spinach egg feta on croissant! Walking past the street over the weekend, the beautiful display enticed us - so we got in and got a box of goodies. You can say that we were craving pistachio flavored things because we got the pistachio bambalone, pinwheel and croissant. The bambalone was good - but wasn't for me. My partner enjoyed it a lot. If you like donuts, this is a stuffed soft donut essentially. The pinwheel was really good - crispy and stuffed with soft pistachio cream - a nice combination. The croissant was my favorite- perfectly flaky and full of pistachio cream. All in all - they all were pretty good. My only complaint is that the prices are higher than what we get out of it. Almost always there's a line inside and outside and rightly so because they have a great amount of baked items that are truly delicious. Walking down from Times Square I noticed this little bakery walked over took a peek in the window called the wife and said what should I get? Past by on my way back from a broadway show. Everything looked delicious through the window so I decided to go in and order a donut. The visuals/aesthetic of the shop was beautiful and the service was pleasant. Once I got home and ate my first donut, I instantly felt gross from the taste of oil in my mouth. The second donut looked more promising but I was unfortunately disappointed. The Nutella and chocolate was delicious but once I hit the actually pastry part I was completely disappointed. I felt like I was drinking a bottle of frying oil. Very nice little bakery and pastry shop in NYC. They have many awesome and some unique items on their menu, and I got to try their Nutella croissant and cream Bombolone. Both were very good. There's an area in the back, away from where you order your food, where you can sit down and it your pastries and drink your coffee. I had to scurry off to attend an event so I didn't get the full experience. The Nutella croissant was good, but I can't say it blew me away. It was pretty fresh and filled with a good amount of filling. The bombolone was very good, though. Like an Italian donut filled with cream, or pistachio, or a few other fillings of choice. The bakery is well lit with a narrow hallway that leads to the back where the dining tables are. I ordered a mixed fruit tart which was scrumptious. The fruit tasted naturally sweet which complimented the pastry cream perfectly. Regrettably, it is just too small. I finished it quickly, so my friend treated me to a second tart. Hooray! The cannoli was bad. The cream tasted not homemade. Kind of plasticky. The drinks were okay. The hot latte was scalding! I couldn't hold the cup and waited like 15 mins to drink it. They have three different sizes and shapes of croissants filled with a cream filling. They have a big ball-like one, a big square one and a thinner round one. Like a pinwheel. Came in here on a whine while walking to Times Square. The Mortadella sandwhich and Nutella donut were incredible! They warmed the sandwhich for us and it was some of the best food we had that night. After two back to back dinners in K-town, four of us walked around searching for a dessert shop. Found this Italian balery on Yelp and decided to walk over since there were so many good reviews. Looking through the storefront window, we were excited. So much color and interesting items. However, we were all quite full, so decided to share one giant Pistachio Cream Bombolone. Sadly, the bombolone is nothing like what I had in Italy. It was very dense, more like bread, and not fluffy as I hoped it would be. I guess it was late at night and it's been sitting there for a while, but I cannot imagine it being much better fresh. Stopped in as this was on the bucket list for a friend, and we tried one of the round croissants (chocolate and ) and a classic custard Bombolone. They give it to you on a wax sheet in a little basket (cute, but not practical when trying to cut it, you have to angle high). Knives/forks/napkins at the counter or above the return bin area before you walk to the back. Bus your own table. Bombolone was excellent - think of a Boston creme but much better. Rich and sweet donut with a solid amount of custard inside. The round croissant we had was a little less good for me - mascarpone cheese was ok, but the chocolate on the croissant was rich and enjoyable with the round shape and pearls of sugar on top. Overall not a bad bakery, I've had better croissants (different shape) but the Bombolone was excellent. Will be back for those! the croissant with mascarpone filling was extremely light on the filling and the croissant itself was almost stale. Maybe because we picked them up at 8:30 pm on a Friday and they were sitting all day. Still for $7 a croissant, it should be fresh. The bomboloni (donut) filled with the same filling was also stale and tasted like it was a day or so old. You can't sell us two stale items for $14. Not good. Came here in December 2024 during a cold night. My sister and I wanted something sweet after visiting Bryant Park. We got two of their supreme croissants. One being chocolate and the other being pistachio. The only thing about the croissants I did not like is that they all had the same filling. At first, I thought the chocolate supreme croissant was gonna have chocolate inside and vice versa for the pistachio, but they all had the same filling. Accidentally discovered when in Manhattan once,walking out of the Penn Station (it's really closeby). Might be my luck,but whenever I come,there's always Italian tourists inside - so I'm assuming it's Italian Bakery that's Italian-approved! :) I personally love their rolly croissants with pistachio cream along with a cup of double espresso to balance out the sweetness. We ordered the pistachio crème filled donut with a tiramisu latte There was a lil snaffu with our latte--we wanted it and asked for it hot but it was entered as an iced so we just took it. Wasn't a big deal. Also they denied our request to have the donut heated a little which in my opinion would have taken this donut from okay to oooookay! So it was just okay. It was a good recommendation, though. Staff was happy and helpful. Latte was a latte. The tiramisu cream didn't add much at all even after I stirred it in. It was worth a try, but not with the hype. The desserts were overly sweet and heavy on the cream, making it hard to finish even one.
