    Short rib sliders

Delayed review, but we go so often! We went last Wednesday before thanksgiving and started with their potato skins. They were good, but some a little too crispy. I finally got to try their short rib sliders and OH MY GOD. They were amazing. Run to get these! They were extremely tender and flavorful. May be the only thing I get now on. Their tator tots are very yummy too. My husband got the meatball sliders and was extremely happy with the flavors and the sauce was tasty too. He would not recommend the onion rings. They were very bland. The bartenders are always very friendly and check in often. It can get crowded at times, but we usually find a good spot at the bar. Really cool local spot with plenty of beer options.

Nachos - 7/10 Wings- 9/10 Love the vintage sports bar vibe. Staffs are nice. Their wings are pretty famous and worth the penny. Nachos were huge. Would definitely try other items sometimes.

This is such a hidden gem in Stoneham! My boyfriend and I were looking for a chill sports bar to watch the suberbowl and found this place on google and decided to give it a try. We got the bbq wings, potato skins, and a cheese pizza. Everything was delicious! The pizza especially was SO good. I was truly not expecting such great food! The draft beers were also super cheap - around $6.50! They also had mini tvs at a bunch of tables so every seat is a great spot to watch a game. We will absolutely be back!

I have returned to 438 after visiting some 6 years prior. This day I visited with my daughter and her friend. It was an early afternoon in mid-December. Upon entry, we saw that the restaurant was relatively quiet. A few customers at the bar watching some ballgames and a few booths occupied by couples. We were immediately seated at a table with several tv's around us. There was not a bad seat in the room if you wanted to watch the ball games. We were approached pretty quickly by our waiter and asked if we wanted a drink. We all ordered water and a soft drink. As we all reviewed the menu, we noticed how many different choices there were for lunch! It was great.... all sorts of appetizers, salads, main dishes and side dishes. Something for everyone! I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with some fries. My daughter ordered the same thing and my daughters friend got a burger with nothing on it. The split a caesar salad, as well. The food came rather quickly, which was great. We split some chicken fingers for an app and we polished them off right at the same time our main dishes came. All three dishes were excellent. French fries were good and chicken sandwich on my plate was excellent. The one negative thing that I would mention and it is not a big deal, is that the chicken was kind of thin. It was well cooked for both my daughter and I but the pieces were on the thin side. Again, no a big deal but a mention. We finished up our meal and decided on no dessert so we were on our way out the door rather quickly. We all enjoyed our visit......food was good...service was good and price was great! We plan on coming again....maybe during the NFL play-offs

If U enjoy kitschy vibes + all the locals at the bar + surprisingly elevated menus (still stacked with plenty of pub staples, though) + absurdly kind & attentive waitstaff waiting on U -- then U need to dine at 438 pretty soon...OK, George? The booths are cushy & the wings are tender. Need much more? Beer....so many selections on tap! Cheers! Support local.

It was fine. Servers are super nice and accommodating. The food was okay but large serving sizes I thought. The fry basket was giant but not very good. The menu is large though so lots of options.

Well pretty much regulars but not anymore. Before Covid on a Wednesday night had to send Filet Migmon back three times; it came out Pittsburg not near rare .Recently, sat outside but the exhaust from people picking up at Three Amigos. Our pictures were taken because I went into Three Amigos to tell them to tell customers to shut engines off while people are dining outside next door. Well, I will not tell you how unprofessional the manager (owners sis) was. Taking our picture when leaving. Food is really hit or miss . Overheard a customer say usually the mash potatoes aren't as good as they were tonight. Baked potato skins were microwaved last night. Par baked then microwaved. I called the landscaping trucks that was running while they were waiting for good from Three Amigos. He told me I had too much wine. One glass. Ignorant. Kept truck running for 15 minutes. 438 should have done more. Stop reusing menus. Delete picture we will not be back.

I have been coming here now for almost a year since I moved to Stoneham. The food has never dissatisfied me always on point. Donna and Phil on the bar always make you feel welcome and drinks are great.

Buffalo chicken potato skins with a side of ranch. Huge portion!

Especially the home made biscuits. These were amazing. Hot, flaky, very much home made with a maple butter that is sinful. Entrees were mushroom tortellini and eggplant parm. We started our evening in the outdoor dining area as the main dining room is a bit loud and it was a beautiful warm evening with the sun starting to set as we arrived. We salivated over the drinks menu but decided not to imbibe and save our use of calories for later. We started with the Stuffed Mushrooms, which were 5 large mushroom caps stuffed with a meatball like stuffing. They were really yummy and somehow escaped into our bellies before I could get a picture. Whoops. For entrees, we ordered the Pasta Louise (penne with chicken, artichoke hearts, and more n a creamy sauce) and Steak Pasta (penne with thin slices of steak, feta, and a light dressing). Both were delicious. The Pasta Louise is popular for a good reason - it is full of flavor and definitely worth ordering again! The steak pasta was good with a much milder flavor profile. The ingredients for everything tasted fresh. The only disappointment was the bread and butter which was a white scali-style bread with little plastic butter packets; I prefer dipping olive oil and spices with a heartier bread. The service was prompt, personal, and friendly. The main indoor space is a bit loud for my taste, so I will prefer to go again when I know I can sit at one of the pleasant outdoor tables. Of the many Italian restaurants in the area, this has been here for decades with good reason - they have a solid business. Enjoy!

I found myself in familiar territory and surroundings when I returned stay the Lakeview Inn hotel…read morefor a night, away from metro Boston in early May 2025. I arrived here via uber and decided to have dinner at the hotel's main restaurant, the Lakeside Tavern. This Yelp review is for the restaurant only and not the hotel. I arrived here around 9:30pm. I opted to get dinner here first before checking into the hotel for the night. The service that night I was here was crazy slow. They had loud live band music and the vibe here was generally an older crowd on a Thursday evening in May 2025. I found a seat next to the bar near the kitchen and after 15 minutes of waiting for someone to take my order, I walked to the cash register and waited for someone to arrive. I ended up getting one of their signature meals for the evening and that was that. Since it was close to 10pm that evening, the music was winding down. I ended up waiting about 20 minutes for my food to arrive. It came in a takeout container with a plastic bag. I would have gotten something at Boston, Logan International Airport, but it was after 8 PM when I arrived and nothing in the terminal was open for me. With that said, I was happy that the Lakeside Tavern was open for anybody and everybody who was wanting to be there. For lunch, dinner, or just hang out and listen to live music with adult beverages. For me, though, I just need dinner after a long day of travel to Boston from Honolulu. I was glad that they were until 10 PM, otherwise I would have took an Uber to see what was around at the time near the hotel that serve food. The overall experience at the lakeside Tavern here in Wakefield, Massachusetts was typically OK, although I was starving and wanted quicker service that night. While the service was very slow, it was nice to partake in the live music that night. The ambiance was chill and friendly. The service was friendly and welcoming too. For the most part though, the experience here was pretty good and most likely will come back again get my troubles permit me to do so. I'll try to get here as quick as I can, but then again their travel is normally the same as it was 10 years ago. The restaurant itself was very clean, although it was dark enough to wear I can't see much. I just was glad that this restaurant at the hotel I was staying at for the night was open and grateful that they were still serving food while I was there. If you decide to stay at this hotel, consider dining in the Lakeside tavern because it is basically on property. You don't need to go elsewhere for your meals if you don't need to. If you're lazy like me, this restaurant is your best bet if you're staying at the hotel. Definitely recommended if you are one of those people who just don't wanna leave the hotel for some reason if you're staying here at the Lakeside inn in Wakefield Massachusetts. The Lakeside Tavern is located inside the Lakeside Inn in Wakefield, Massachusetts. As soon as you enter the lobby, the entrance to the restaurant is on your left. Can't miss it. It is physically located at 595 North Avenue in Wakefield. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. As far as parking goes, they have a generous and huge parking lot for anybody and everybody who wishes to come here to stay or dine. Or both. Please share the parking spaces with a few other commercial retailers in the vicinity. There is a bank nearby, if you need cash. There is actually public transportation service to and from the hotel into Boston. I did not know this until my most recent trip here and decided to save a little bit of money and ride the local bus service into downtown Boston from Wakefield. It was pretty cool. Don't recommend it if you are traveling in the evening and don't know where you are if you are a tourist. So yes, there is public transportation options to and from the hotel, and they will depend on your original destination, whether it is the Amtrak station or Boston Logan international airport in Boston. And with that said, they have a limited menu, so be prepared for anything they have. The prices here were decent for any restaurant in the area. But if you're desperate and hungry, it's kind of worth it, especially when you're staying at the hotel for the night and you're starving. Which is what my situation was at the time. It was a quick stop for dinner that ended up being something other than quick. But if you like the loud live music to decompress after a nice day of traveling or a hard day at the office, consider coming to the lakeside Tavern for a good meal and to decompress. I'm sure they have alcohol service here, but I did not want to drink so late at night. 3.5 stars for the overall experience, mostly for the slower than normal service. But it is pretty good 5.0 stars for the location, because I was staying here. Support local! C+

I had a steak tip salad that, I have to say, was absolutely heavenly. The steak tips were cooked as ordered. Deliciously marinated, buttery tender and nicely seared over a most excellent salad. What makes a salad "most excellent?" you might ask. Well, I'll tell you. It was dressed perfectly. Just the right amount of a flavorful house dressing. Neither dry nor sopping. The generous portions of lettuce, tomato, cucumber, feta cheese, and more were all in a perfect proportion to one another, chopped small enough to render a knife unnecessary, except for the steak tips. Last time in, I chose the Fusilli Mac and Cheese with Pulled Pork. Not only was this extremely good, it was extremely large. It provided dinner for me for two nights. There seem to be a lot of regulars here, at least in the Mondays I've been in. And the place is hopping busy. The music is good. Maybe a little loud, but, hey, I'm old. They're a jovial and friendly lot. And, Becca, the bartender, is super chill. She's friendly, attentive and she mixes a good drink and pulls a good draft. I can see myself becoming a regular!
