I usually go for strong coffee, so I was pleasantly surprised by how well-balanced these drinks were. The flavors came through nicely without overpowering the coffee -- just the right amount of sweetness. They don't look super fancy or over-the-top, but the quality is there. Friendly service and unique options make this place a hidden gem. I'll definitely be back to try the Mexican Sidecar latte. read more

As I've said before, I really enjoy trying local coffee shops. We happened to be in the area so you know I had researched some local coffee shops to check out. I found a couple places, but LOCAL COFFEE BAR got me after seeing Pandan + Palm Sugar latte on the menu. I love pandan flavor and I had never heard of pandan flavored coffee so I was definitely intrigued. We ordered online through the link on their Instagram. After ordering, it said the order would take about 45 minutes. Initially we were like "really? 45 minutes?" But it only took about 15-20mins from ordering to getting our drinks. Which isn't bad considering the fact that they were very busy with customers, plus people still waiting to be seated. They're located inside a restaurant (whose menu looks so yummy that we decided to come back to try their food). But currently, it's all outdoor seating and only staff members are inside. I'm not sure if you can order food/drinks in person - but you should be able to since they've got employees stationed behind makeshift counters once you get inside. My boyfriend got the cookie butter latte which he enjoyed (rare since he's a coffee snob) and I got the pandan latte. So. Freaking. Good. You can definitely taste the pandan flavor but it's not too overpowering. Really enjoyed this drink. So sad that this place is so far from us. If it was closer, I already know I'd be getting coffee here a lot. But, I will definitely be stopping by for coffee whenever I'm (even just sort of) around the area. read more

My order: Iced latte with oak milk and overnight oats! The coffee was a perfect consistency, very smooth with a great smell and no sour taste. The overnight oats were also solid, but I thought the strawberries could be a bit more fresh. Note to people who are looking for a study spot: This is a very busy and loud brunch restaurant (Take Your Seat) with very little seating! I was able to grab a seat because I arrived pretty early, but they give a 90-min limit for all guests. The wifi is stable and the ambiance is still great with noise cancelling headphones, but this is definitely more of a social spot. I will 100% be coming back to get some coffee for take-out though. **It is located inside Take Ur Seat** (took me a while to find) I came here to support a local small business and although I really wanted to like this place given their unique latte flavors, it just didn't do it for me... Pandan + plum sugar latte (hot) $5.50 (According to their website: Pandan is a green leaf used in a lot of Southeast Asian desserts, it has a nutty and vanilla taste to it. The Palm Sugar adds the perfect amount of sweetness to this aromatic drink.) -Who would have thought pandan + Latte, but not what I expected. -This was one of the first places that I tried that incorporated pandan into a latte. I was really hoping for a more bold pandan flavor, but it was so faint like it was never even there. I even tried mixing my drink more to see if the flavors sunk to the bottom, but no just taste like a plain latte to me. -It didn't have that bold espresso punch I was hoping for nor was it sweet enough to my liking. -But with that said, as a "plain" latte it was pretty good, and although I like sweet lattes, I didn't feel the need to add more sweeter to it, but it is just not how I would normally have my lattes especially if I was expecting the PANDAN flavor to be there. (For reference, I am used potent pandan flavors that they have in Vietnamese desserts) -On the plus side, I am glad the espresso was not sour, and although not bold, it was very smooth to drink. Cookie butter latte (iced) $5 -I liked this one a little more than the pandan latte, but not by much -I did like how it was sweeter and a good balanced latte, but again you can barely taste the cookie butter (more faint in my opinion compared to the faint pandan). In other words, it taste like a sweeter "plain" latte to me. -So as a "plain" latte, I would choose this over the pandan one. However, this is my opinion and maybe you will enjoy how their lattes taste with having that small hint of flavor. Definitely not worth the premium price if you are expecting a flavored latte. Setting: -Too bad there isn't indoor dinning because it is super cute inside! -They do have outdoor seating given it is inside Take Ur Seat and can have a delicious meal while enjoying some coffee Overall: Staff was nice and gave good recommendations on the food side of the menu (highly recommend getting food from Take Ur Seat). But as for the coffee, I think they can improve on getting that PUNCH of potent flavor in their already good tasting lattes. read more

Local Coffee Bar also serves Asian flavored drinks that go along with the menu items in the restaurant. A new coffee spot in Chino Hills located inside a new brunch place called Take Ur Seat. We came here on Saturday for a soft opening event. You can also check them out in Instagram @localcoffeebar for upcoming events. We ordered Milo Dinosaur and Pandan+Palm Sugar Latte. I was skeptical about ordering Pandan+Palm Sugar Latte because I thought it would be really sweet. However, to my surprise, it was just a perfect amount of sweetness and the coffee wasn't overpowered by the Pandan or the Palm Sugar. My boyfriend got the Milo Dinosaur and it brought back memories from our childhood. You can also substitute the dairy/regular milk with almond milk if you're lactose intolerant. Came here on a Wednesday without checking the hours online to find out they're closed! Learned my lesson and checked hours for Thursday, Yelp said they were also closed (I mentioned to the staff so I'm glad the hours are changed now!). Finally came on Friday, ordered cold brew for my partner and pandan latte for myself. Cold brew was too sour and bitter for of our liking, will not order again. Pandan latte had an sweet herbal taste, I was recommended it as it may be the "nuttier" version of vanilla latte (something I usually order).. it's definitely not my taste! I wanted to try a new place and decided to give Local Coffee Bar a try. Their menu was a little different and a few drinks intrigued me such as the Pandan + Palm Sugar and Milo Dinosaur. After placing an order, I didn't realize I would have to wait over half an hour for two drinks. It really seems they were catering to their dine-in customers over their take away customers as two girls who came in after my sister and I were immediately seated and brought out drinks shortly after being seated. For $12+, I expected to be a little more amazed by their drinks. For the Milo Dinosaur, it really wasn't anything special and tasted just like an Ovaltine/Chocolate milk with a fancy name. Wanted to get a special coffee for my mom and she requested something from this location. According to the website the hours are Mon-Sun until 2pm. I called over and over to verify the hours but no one answered. When I arrived the location was closed during business hours but workers were inside chilling. There was a sign on the door that they were sold out. It would be nice if there was someone answering the phone or there was some sort of an outgoing message indicating that the hours posted on yelp are not valid. Yesterday was our first time going to the Local Coffee Bar. We instantly loved it right when we walked in the door. The workers were so friendly, and our waitress was incredible. Now, I never actually tried the brunch spot here but I've been here a number of times for one thing and that is the Pandan Palm Sugar latte. I am obsessed with it. Very disappointing. I went out of my way to patronize this small place instead of going to a Starbucks. We ordered a cappuccino and a tea, they hinted that they were expecting a tip, but when we asked to sit in their open eating area, they said that was for reserved guests only and asked us to sit outside on the bench. If that wasn't enough, my supposedly black tea tasted more like herbal tea. I informed the server that this tea doesn't seem to have enough caffeine as a normal black tea would, but she didn't seem to care at all. Just want o drive home to have a real cup of tea. read more

We were in the area for a baby shower at a local park near by. We were early so my daughter looked up this place on yelp. Like others have said, it was very difficult to find. As stated it's inside of a restaurant. It was a Saturday, we get it, it's busy. We ordered 3 drinks that cost 21.42. We gave the person our card he told us to wait outside for ten minutes and he would text us when our order was up. My daughter gave them her cell number to text. Fifteen minutes later we go and pick up our drinks and on our way to the park. Four hours later on the 210 freeway on my way back to my home an hour plus away my daughter gets a call from this so called coffee shop saying they were having a glitch in their system and that our payment didn't go through so they would need my card number to pay again! I was driving so I didn't stop to check my bank so I had my daughter give them my information. When I got home and checked my bank it showed both transactions as pending. Now I'm mad! Anyone who knows me knows you don't play with my money. I immediately called. No one answers the phone so I left a kind message stating what happened and for them to call me back! Meanwhile I'm watching my bank account. That was Saturday. I never received a call back. I had a family emergency on Monday and was in the hospital with my husband so I wasn't checking my bank account. I finally checked on Wednesday and sure enough they double changed me. I immediately called and once again no answer and no response. Unfortunately this time I had to threaten to call my lawyer. You may think, "Really over $21.42?" Yes really!!!! It's the principle! This is my money and if you are a Legitimate business you would call the customer back, apologize and maybe offer a free drink next time for the customers inconvenience. Did I receive any of this? Absodarnlutely not!!!! On Thursday I checked my account and they finally credited my account. Still with no apology or call back! Horrible business practices!!!! I got an iced pandan+ palm sugar latte with decaf coffee and oaf milk and omg it's sooo good! It's very balanced. Not too sweet but just enough not to be bitter 10/10 recommend! It almost tastes like if I had a milk tea with boba, it's probably the palm sugar that gives that flavor. My bf got an iced Mexican sidecar which was also super good! I am a coffee addict and I prefer Cold Brew but since the COVID-19 virus I've been stuck in California (I'm from Illinois) and I always need my morning coffee!! THIS REVIEW IS BASED ON COFFEE ONLY I'm a bit hesitant to write this review, because I didn't try the food, but I will re-review once I do. The coffee bar is located inside Take Ur Seat (a promising-looking brunch spot) which is in the corner of the plaza, with ample parking available. There is also a restroom that is baby-friendly, with a cute changing station. My boyfriend and I went to Local specifically to try the coffee. We ordered an Iced Pandan Latte and an Iced Cookie Butter Latte. When we ordered, one of the employees (possibly the owner) suggested that I get the Pandan Latte got, but I really only like iced lattes. Unfortunately, neither of the lattes were that great. There was nothing really special about them, and we waited over 10 minutes to get them. Despite the coffee being unimpressive, the location was great, staff is friendly, and the food looks promising. This pop up is located inside another shop (TakeUrSeat). The owner was extremely nice and made sure to introduce himself and ask about his coffee, which was delicious. They have unique flavors. I got the spanish latte, but I want to also try the pandan flavored one (I fell in love with pandan after getting pandan flavored water at pok pok in portland) Overall, 4.5 stars, but I'll round to 5 because they're new I want to see him succeed. My favorite coffee place in chino hills! Their cookie butter is amazing! And when you're not feeling like coffee try their matcha sua da! The baristas are so cool and really nice! Not to mention, they are inside a delicious restaurant! Take your seat! The belly to belly bowl is to die for! And their TUS fries is so good, I personally like it with out the onions and with the pork belly. You must try! It's a perfect match!
