This was our best meal in Eureka. On our final day in town we decided to try this spot based on the great Yelp reviews. It was the experience we needed after a host of poor service and unwelcoming attitudes at other ES establishments. McGarity's is everything you would expect an Irish pub and restaurant to be. There is a leprechaun out front for photos, super friendly and attentive staff, and a menu chock full of feel good and filling food. We started with an appetizer of cheese curds. Get these for the table. They were cheesy goodness with light batter and were delicious. For our meals I got the burger and the kids got shepherd's pie and chicken alfredo. Both looked great and there were plenty of leftovers. Portions are huge here. My burger was cooked the way I liked and had a great beefy juiciness offset by fresh lettuce, tomato, and onions. The thing I didn't particularly like must be some sort of Arkansas or Eureka rule because everyone does it. Condiments were in little packs on the table. I would prefer that at least the mayo be added in the kitchen so I am not disassembling my burger to squeeze mayo on the buns but every restaurant was this way. Despite that, this was a great experience. All oher Eureka Restaurants can take a page from McGarity's and the place would be much happier. read more

The colcannon was different from what I usually experience in Ireland; however, it was delicious! They charred the cabbage and it lended a depth of flavor to the dish.It was very tasty. My grandson had the macaroni & cheese and loved it as well as a helping of my carrots. He loved them both! My daughter had the quail appetizer with jalapeños and it was the biggest hit, so juicy with just the right amount of heat. ATMOSPHERE: this place is so cute and fun. We asked to sit in the snug and I was able to show photos of the Crown Saloon in Belfast and how similar they were. SERVICE: is outstanding from in and out the door. First, the parking lot is SMALL and the other businesses around are very clear they'll tow you. We had to park across the HWY at the Harley store and go across the road. So worth it! The staff are friendly and had great suggestions and tips for the menu and how to enjoy our time there. The portions are BIG. Delicious Caesar salad, great beers on draft, very good egg rolls, had the blackened red fish and that did NOT disappoint! The fries are big and crispy and the Rueben was outstanding. The atmosphere is terrific. Irish setting with Irish music and decor. Ordered the Irish Nachos as an app . We didn't add a protein, but boy oh boy these were amazing! The serving was very large and there was no shortage of cheese, ranch and pico. Now I'm full but I am not stopping with that. I went ahead and ordered the Shepherds pie. This did not disappoint as it was loaded! The mashed potatoes were homemade and mixed so well with the beef and gravy. I couldn't finish it, but it made a fantastic lunch meal warmed up in the microwave. My wife had the French dip sandwich and really liked that as well. The brisket wasn't the greatest, but overall the sandwich was good. She ordered a side of onion rings and said those were good as well. 2nd visit from last year when I first reviewed them. Great restaurant with great prices. The atmosphere is really nice with a full bar when you first walk in. We were seated, early on a Fri night. They do get busy. Ordered the Ruben egg rolls as appetizer that came out pretty quick. Just ok with the dip. Again I had the Shepherd Pie and it came out Huge. Came hot and very good. Husband had the beef stew this time and said was good with Alot of potatoes in it. I still think he liked the sausages with fried cabbage he had last visit. NEG was waitress this time, Andrea M. I did mention it was freezing inside with vent blowing directly down. 4 different tables the woman had a jacket on. Also now it was cool outside , misty weather. She said they changed it alittle but Air came right back on. Even with my jacket on , We froze... Also I had asked for more dip sauce for egg rolls that we never got. She did stop at table and mention it after we were already in the middle of our meal. So I would say food really good. Appetizer Egg rolls were $16.00, so maybe skip them. It was hands down the best steak I had ever had from a restaurant, Seasoned great and cooked perfectly rare like I ordered. The redfish was cooked perfectly along with the shrimp, the sauce over the fish was absolutely delicious. Sides were phenomenal as well and the drinks were crafted perfectly. We had good service and received a discount since our hotel was in close proximity, unfortunately the food was not great. Mom ordered crab cakes meal and I got Fish, Shrimp & Chips meal. Her crab cakes were mushy and honestly over-sauced. She ate most of one of them. My shrimp were huge but flavorless. The fish was more like big fish sticks. I mean, they weren't store bought necessarily, but cut into stick shapes. The batter on them was also not flavorful, despite me adding malt vinegar, salt, tartar sauce (which wasn't great), etc. I don't do mushy peas, but Mom kind of liked them. The chips were pretty good. I ended up eating the rest of my meal later as a late-night snack. It still wasn't all that flavorful, but it was edible. read more
