This is an interesting concept. I haven't decided if I like it or not. I think it may take a couple of more visits to other locations to help me make up my mind. Imagine a shopping mall food court with six or seven vendors, each with its own kitchen. The seating area is shared by all of the guests. Now make one minor but major change. Have everything come out of one kitchen. I noticed that there are currently 11 Local Kitchens in Northern California. They do not all serve the same food. You'll just have to check out each location. Nor is every menu item from each vendor being offered. But it does allow you to order from one location (your phone or their kiosk. When your food is ready, you also pick up from one location, everything at the same time. The dining room was relatively clean. We were greeted when we stepped in. Beyond that, everything else was self-service at our own pace. I do not use self-checkout in any retailer and refuse to use the kiosk at McDonalds. But then I haven't gone to McDonalds since they got rid of the $1 sodas. The music was too loud. It wasn't deafening but when our order was ready and our name called, I barely heard it. I think they had called us several times. Thai Tea - Boba Guy's - 4 - Yup, tasted like it should have. Meltburger - The Melt - 5 - We added lettuce and tomato and omitted the jalapeno-pickle mix. Three Cheese Classic - The Melt - 5 - Who doesn't love a simple Grilled Cheese Sandwich? Crispy, greasy toasted bread sandwiching three gooey cheeses. Yum! Melty Mac - The Melt - 5 -This the only Mac & Cheese that I would order again. So many places don't know how to cook their macaroni soft without turning it into mush. And the cheese is soooo melty! Quesabirria Dipping Taco - Nopalito Taqueria - 5 - They don't look like much but when you dip the taco into the beef consomme that comes with it, all the flavors just seem to come together into a cohesive flavor bomb. The salsa added just the right amount of heat. Another winner! The three of us shared these dishes and still had leftovers. One of the staff was policing the dining room as we were finishing up and asked how we liked our food. This could have been a 5* experience but I'm just not a fan of kiosk ordering. read more

I've been coming here ever since I discovered it through social media. I am happy that this location is near me and I don't have to drive too far for some Boba Guys. The place is quite spacious and fills up fast. If you go on a weekday, the service is pretty quick. On weekends, I found myself waiting 30-40 minutes for our food, but on weekdays, it took less than 10 minutes. The workers are very friendly and answered all my questions. I've tried a handful of things off the menu but for this review I'll highlight what I had most recently. Sushrito- Latin Ninja Sushi Burrito ($16): A refreshing and light dish. It has a delicious yuzu dressing on the salmon and some crunchy onion pieces in the burrito that add a nice crunch. 5/5 Proposition Chicken- Fried Chicken Tenders ($10.95): It has a tasty spice rub on the chicken. The breading on the chicken is different from your typical fried chicken, but delicious nonetheless. 4/5 Spice Fries ($3.95): The fries have the same seasoning as the chicken, so the flavors are similar. They came out piping hot and crispy. 5/5 The Melt- Macaroni & Cheese ($5.29): The portion size is quite small. The macaroni was slightly cold when it came out, and the cheese on top wasn't entirely melted. It was bland. 2/5 Boba Guys- Strawberry Jasmine Fresca: It's so refreshing!! We had the boba which was delicious. Vietnamese, Mexican and the chicken sandwich. Everything was so good. But what was great was the waiter who was making sure everyone had everything they needed with their orders. From the minute we walked in Zayn, I think his name was? Said welcome, come on in, if you have any questions let me know. We were about to leave but he convinced us to stay. We were so glad we did. Once we had our food he walked around to our tables and others and asked if everything was ok. He also was so polite, ended up getting us to order the boba- so glad we did. During the said event I got to try Proposition Chicken and The Melt and so when I saw the list of shops they have in San Bruno, I had my eyes fixed on the other ones I haven't been to before. Square Pie Guys is first on the list. We tried the Mush-o-roni and The Big Von and got our Detroit style pizza cravings satisfied. Overall, Local Kitchens is a great addition to this part of San Bruno. Lots of parking space, fast service, and many food choices. Great place! Went here with my mom today for lunch. The people who work here are super friendly and courteous! A real pleasure speaking with them. The ambiance is inviting and very comfortable. I could have stayed there another hour and taken a nap on their couch. The food is DELICIOUS!! We ordered two Sushirittos a Shrimp Tempura and a Crab plus an order of shrimp tempura and a strawberry tea to wash it all down with. The Sushirittos were super delicious! As my 96 year old mom would say "YUMMY". Delicious tender tempura shrimp wrapped in rice and nori. (The same as the crab Sushiritto) Both were super delicious especially if you dipped them in the wasabi mayo! Gotta try this it's wonderful!! The shrimp tempura were just as yummy too! What a great addition to San Bruno! Love that there's a dine in option here, with outdoor seating as well. Now I don't have to drive so far for my Sushiritto fix. Seems like a good chill place to eat in, but I had mine to-go. Got a text right away to tell me it was ready and before I grabbed it on the counter, one worker double checked to make sure it had everything (it was missing a sauce!) I stop by sometimes to pick up food to go. Their website is pretty easy to use and you can also sign up for their loyalty program so you can get a $10 reward after you spend X dollars (I think it's $100 or $150). Their selection is decent but more catered towards burgers, pizza, fries etc. I wish they had more Asian offerings which would be great! This place is not the cheapest but food is expensive these days. Expect $15/person for food or so. I do like Proposition Chicken and the Square Pizza Guys. The chicken is always fried nicely but it is not too greasy. The pizza is large and you can easily share a pie with another person. It is however not really traditional pizza (it's Detroit style and very thick). I always use a fork and knife to eat. The pizzas pair well with ranch dressing! However, the quality of the drinks weren't the same compared to the actual shop. I can only imagine how difficult it might be to have to learn to make 5-7 items from every restaurant. There is plenty of parking right next to the restaurant. The inside of the restaurant is clean and has great space to hang out with friends. The chairs vary from dining room style to some living style seating. The lighting is bright and the music is also a lil' loud. The fries from the Melt were disappointing. They were a lil' hard and the seasoning did not help with the flavor. The MeltBurger was good, but there wasn't enough stuff in it to be great, such as lettuce, tomato or an onion. It was just beef patty, cheese and pickles. The Sushirrito was very pretty. Grabbed the Geisha Kiss from the photo. The veggies and tuna inside were fresh. Besides soy sauce, I could not taste any other flavoring. The sushi rice and seaweed kept it altogether. There is a crunch from some chips, but it kind of reminded me of putting tortilla chips inside a salad.. I do not know if I would order this again. Square Pie Guys pizza was delicious because it was hot and fresh out of the oven. The cheese pull was pretty good. The corners and overall crust had a satisfying crunch with the fluffiness of fresh baked bread. The flavor was aight. A lil' bland so added sriracha when I ate the leftovers. The menu is limited at this location. Recommend this place to take a group of friends who are indecisive on what to eat. I was introduced to Local Kitchens by another friend up the peninsula at another location, and ended up being impressed with the selection of different foods, so I had to hit up the LK closest to me. I have since been three times to try out various offerings: -Square Pie Guys: Had the pepperoni, sausage pizza, and at first was turned away by the price, but seeing the pizza itself, it's pretty hefty, and eating it, it's pretty filling! Local Kitchens is a fast casual location that offers food and drinks from multiple local restaurants (literally in the name) - you can check your area for which foods your specific LK has. It's unfortunate for me that this specific location has Boba Guys, so there goes my money and waistline. But, so happy they are here because there isn't another location nearby and I looove their drinks. I've only tried Sushirrito and Nopalito here; fan of the former, but don't go to Nopalito if you want that truly authentic Mexican food. There are plenty of Mexican restaurants in the area for that. However, my toddler and infant both loved their rice. $3 for a small cup of rice that they'll eat... I'll take it! The indoor seating is fairly clean, but I can imagine how packed they must be during weekdays since YouTube is right around the corner. Food also takes a fairly long time during weekdays as well. The wait isn't so bad during the weekends. The last time we were here, a hornet was buzzing around and shout out to the brave worker who took care of it for us. Seriously. We were all so scared! And lastly, I'm not a huge fan of receiving marketing emails/texts from restaurants, but if you like LK's food, they do regularly offer discounts (up to 50% off!) here and there by subscribing to them. read more

Ever since boba guys in Burlingame closed down, this is the closest option, but since this place is not a boba shop first and kind of a "jack of all trades" type of restaurant I think that everything here is just average or below compared to their original locations. Came here on a Wednesday afternoon, there was no one in the restaurant, the screen shows that there is only 2 pickup orders infront of mine but the estimated time for 1 drink was still 15-17 minutes. 10 minutes go by and turns out my drink was already done but I was still not notified and my order on the screen still says "waiting". Their system may look cool but it does not work properly, a staff had to ask if I was waiting for something since I was the only person in the store. We took a detour while going home only to find out that the staff locked the doors prior to Midnight. Their door and yelp both states they'd be open by that time, and I noticed that the staff purposely avoided looking our way while they were cleaning even though it was 30 minutes before officially closing time. Advice to staff: Change your hours labeled on your door and yelp to accurately depict serving times. First off, I have to say that the service here was absolutely on point! The workers were super accommodating, nice, and patient with me. I ordered a pizza from Square Pie Guys and a chicken sandwich from Proposition Chicken and both items were delicious. The chicken was nice and crispy and well fried. Not too much batter was on it and the chicken was extra moist and juicy. The pizza was one of the best Detroit pizzas I've ever had and I'm honestly surprised that coming from a ghost kitchen it still managed to taste that great! I got the Big Von with pepperoni, white sauce, Italian sausage and Mike's hot honey. The crust was fluffy and chewy and all aspects of the pizza were mouth watering. The pepperoni was crispy and spicy, and the Italian Sausage added mini flavor bombs to the pizza. Like a moth to a flame I have returned to Local Kitchens. This time, I brought my vegetarian wife! The staff was superb as they welcomed my family into the restaurant. They asked if I needed help, but at this point I figured I'm a local ;) They had an exciting new burger on the menu by a celebrity chef (can't remember his name but have always wanted to try his food)! So naturally I ordered it, I got the SOB and it did not disappoint! The bacon jelly and onions were to die for. Truly nothing in the Bay Area even comes close to this. I also had the Woozy Fries which again, are deserving of the Nobel peace prize. I don't think there is a conflict they couldn't resolve. My wife got a pizza from SPG and it was divine. We live a few blocks from one of their locations so it was a no brainer for her! Do I mind the drive from the city to Local Kitchens? Absolutely not. Ordered the birria tacos, and they were not very good. The tacos lacked filling and the birria meat was not seasoned well. The consomme also was not very rich in beef flavor. It fell flat and just tasted kind of like tomato juice. Compared to quesabirrias from other places, this one felt like it was shortcutted. Service was great, got some free chips and salsa to enjoy. Hummus is too thick and flavorless, Lemon Tahini was not flavorful either, BOTH are just too thick. The vegetables were pickled, yet too bitter for my taste buds. This Local Kitchens is located right by the entrance of the Bayhill Shopping Center. There is some parking right by the front entrance and more in the shared lot. I believe there are 9 restaurants at this location - each spot offers a smaller menu of desserts, drinks, and / or food options from the menus of the original restaurants. Not much service, as this is a micro food hall kitchen and ordering is through their tablets. I did have some simple questions about the menus, but there was no one at the front, so I waited for an employee to come to the front counter to hand out the orders - she could not answer any of questions, but she did go to the back to get someone else to help me. I ordered from Boba Guys and Sushirrito here. The boba and sushi burrito I ordered were not the best compared to the other Local Kitchens, as it did not taste as fresh or was not correctly made. When we first came in, we were greeted by a friendly staff member who offered us complimentary water. The staff for our entire duration were absolutely amazing! From helping us order food to serving the food made the experience 10x better especially with it being our first time here! The food was good! Came here mainly to try Tam Tam Rice and their broken rice and Vietnamese coffee was amazing ! Coffee was sweet and creamy. Didn't taste super strong or bitter. The broken rice was moist and had a ginger/chicken flavor which was delicious, meat was flavorful. It was an Americanized version but still very good. Honestly better than most Vietnamese restaurants around the area. I live in SF so most of the other things on the menu like Boba Guys, Square Pie Guys, and Sushirrito I've already tried or could get it in the city but could see coming back for lunch with my husband and toddler so they could choose what they want to eat and drink. Shout out to the guy working the counter who is always super friendly and willing to help. The Sushiritto was more on the wet side. My drink jasmine green tasted watered down but the boba was alright. My jasmine green had Straus half and half, 25 sweet but I thought it had too much ice in it. Ordered online Next day 2nd trip Ordered: PROPOSITION CHICKEN - Fried Chicken Tenders PROPOSITION CHICKEN- Prop Spiced Fries BOBA GUYS - Jasmine Green and strawberry matcha latte both with boba NOPALITO TAQUERIA - Chips and Guacamole SQUARE PIE GUYS- Mush-o-Roni Got the chicken tenders again still crispy, I like the Parmesan sauce that comes with it. The fries tasted alright. Chips and guacamole were good. Had to get the square pie guys from the good reviews mentioned on Yelp. The Mush-o-roni doesn't look like the picture advertised, it has less toppings. The taste you can tell they added sugar on top, tasted good, reminded me a little like a sweet bun I would get at an Asian bakery. I loved the pepperoni, tasted crispy, sweet and spicy. This time I changed the jasmine green boba guys drink to 50 sweet but there was no ice level option. Still tasted watered down so next time I'll try a different drink. read more

My kids love the food and the variety of what we can order. 2thumbs up for the Local kitchen

Initially found this place on instagram and was excited to see a place that had multiple food spots in one location. Tried a sushi burrito and a drink from boba guys. The sushi burrito was okay - nothing special and a little bland in flavor. My matcha latte from boba guys was okay as well, a little sweeter for my taste and the tapioca was harder than I would like it to be. read more
