I swore I've completed reviews before but for some reason they are showing. This visit is started with the salsa flight as usual (zucchini, Chipotle and Verde tomatillo). I also enjoy the queso blanco. as it was a little chilly outside the BIRRIA QUESADILLA PLATO was a no Brainer. I also highly recommend the heirloom primo margarita. Service was great.

Carnitas tacos in hard shell

Local lime is the best Mexican food in the area. I have ate here many times and the food has always been consistently delicious. This time I had the steak and shrimp fajitas. The steak in their fajitas is the best quality steak you're going to find at a Mexican restaurant! I also love the fresco bowl, their tortilla soup and our course queso! My husband loves getting the carnitas tacos and asks for a hard shell. He says the hard shell makes all the difference! It's off menu but they can put any taco in a hard shell. We also love the Texas two step margarita with mezcal. Perfect spicy marg with a little smoky flavor! On occasion I have had slow service here but the food always makes up for it! We love sitting at the bar because the service there is always quick and they have very comfy bar stool chairs!

I heard and read a lot of good things about this place so I finally had time to stop in and see what all of the fuss was about. The restaurant is cute and it has a really good vibe especially for cocktails with friends or after work. I just walked in with no reservation and was helped and seated by friendly staff. I ordered the Birria Quesadillas and it was Delicious, moist and juicy. I will definitely go back and try other items from the menu. Maybe next time I'll try a cocktail.

We went here as a group. Local Lime is here in Germantown, located amongst the shops at Saddle Creek. The restaurant's name is written on the building and the interior is clean, bright and inviting. Our server was friendly and helpful with the menu. They have something to fit every palate and dietary need. For appetizers, we had the salsa flight appetizer, where you choose three to try along with the skillet queso. There's one salsa made with zucchini, and it was light and interesting. For entrees, there was the shrimp and brie quesadilla, fajitas, fish tacos, and curry shrimp tacos with cilantro rice and black beans. Everything was fresh and tasty. We had a really good time, and if you're in the area, you should give this place a try.

Some friends and I went to Local Lime for dinner on a Saturday night. Since they don't take reservations, we were told the wait would be about 25 minutes, but it ended up being closer to 55 minutes. Once we were seated, we ordered drinks and appetizers and asked for waters for the table. After some time, our server returned to let us know they were out of queso dip, but didn't offer an alternative. When she came back after initially forgetting our drinks, I placed an order for different appetizers instead. The food arrived before we ever received water, despite asking multiple times. I ordered the queso flameado, which was good, along with the chorizo tacos. I also had the passion fruit margarita, which was tasty, though the portion was small for the price. The atmosphere was loud and very busy, it definitely seems like a popular new hangout spot. Overall, the experience was just okay. I'm not sure I'd go back.

Great atmosphere, fresh and authentic food, and stellar service! The shrimp tacos, beans, and rice were my favorites. The richness of flavor in each dish was eccentric. My sister ordered a bowl and she enjoyed it. I loved the vibrant colors of each dish and the plating options. Each meal was under $25. Some entrees came with the options of two sides. We had such a great experience thanks to our waitress, Britany. She was so personable and attentive from the moment we sat down. She made us feel genuinely welcome and checked on us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. I really appreciated the suggestions she gave, they were spot on and made our meal even better. We were visiting from out of town and she made the choice of this restaurant perfect! The food is amazing and the environment is so friendly! Everyone was so welcoming.

Waiting for Take out

I'd heard about this restaurant since moving to the area, but difficulty with parking in this plaza kept me from trying it. After our lunch today, I wish I would've been more patient in the past. The atmosphere on a Monday afternoon was noisy, but pleasantly busy. Good sign. We ordered takeout yet only waited about 10 minutes max. They have designations on their menu for food allergy and sensitivity patrons, with a larger selection than most Mexican restaurants. The food was very good, fresh, not greasy or heavy. There were no chips given, or any extras like sour cream, salsa or guacamole unless you pay for it, but the entrees were very good and unique when compared to other locations.

It's been a while since I visited Local Lime, and I have to say, I love this spot! I chose to sit at the bar, and as usual, I immediately knew I would order the Fresco bowl with ribeye and the street corn--my absolute favorite. In fact, as I write this review, I'm craving it all over again! I also had a piña colada, which is strong but delicious. I tend to drink it quickly before it melts, as it changes flavor a bit when it does, but it's still my go-to every time I visit. I can't remember the bartender's name, but he was fantastic--very attentive and made my experience even better. I always enjoy myself at Local Lime, and if you haven't been yet, you definitely should!

Salsa Flight and Queso with chips

Went to lunch Tuesday at Local Lime with friends. We arrived at 11 and we're seated very quickly. The service was pretty good. We had one waitress and then changed up a few minutes after and had another waitress. She was excellent and attentive. She checked on us from time to time and very nice. i think her name was Laketha. The decor of the restaurant has some southwest hints with bright colors. It is modern looking and reminds me of an upscale cantina. We started off with the Salsa Flight. That is always tasty and has a variety of flavors. The queso was creamy and hot. It was a good consistency for dipping and not breaking the chips. My tuna tacos were very good with a lot of vegetables and blue corn taco shells. My sides of cilantro lime rice and drunken pinto beans added greatly to my dish. Good food and friends made for a great lunch. We will return in the future.

Local Lime is the perfect refuge for Mexican fare located in the middle of an upscale shopping plaza with Madewell, Anthropologie, Victora Secret, and Free People. This block is a heaven for a shopping and lunch date with your girls. Local Lime is absolutely gorgeous, busy ambiance and delicious latin food to boot! The best thing is you are not locked into buying their set tacos, but order them a la carte! I personally love their Crispy Ahi Tuna, Chargrilled Ribeye, Pacifico Fried Fish, and Local Carnitas tacos. The Crispy Ahi Tuna is the only taco that comes in a crunch purple corn tortilla shell while the others are a soft flour tortilla. Both Crispy Ahi Tuna and Local Carnitas are bursting with sauce and juicy flavor. Recommend you try the both! The "Pacifico" fried fish is less flavorful and my least favorite of the four.

We went here on a Saturday for lunch and it was packed, but we got seated immediately. We had a really sweet waitress that asked a lot of questions to make sure our food would come out as we liked it. Everything was so fresh and amazing and had cute decor. Very chill vibe and loved the vegetarian options.

Local Fresco Bowl (chicken)

A must-visit when in Germantown! The inside of this restaurant was absolutely adorable! It had modern costal vibes and felt very cozy. We started our dinner with a salsa flight ($6 for 3 salsas). My favorite was the zucchini-based salsa. It was very different but incredibly flavorful. The chips were really good too- you can tell they are made in-house. I ordered the Local Fresco Bowl and added chicken. I asked for a side of the crema dressing which only made the bowl all the more tasty! My boyfriend ordered the carnitas tacos which comes with your choice of two sides. The tacos were definitely the best bang for your buck, but the bowl was my favorite of the two dishes. I'd love to return and try more from the menu!

Amazing. Fantastic. A must try. A gem in the sea of mediocrity…read more Go for the Taconganas vs the street taco. You wont be disappointed. We enjoyed the barbacoa and the carnitas and yes, even the veggie. I read a review about it being just cabbage and pico...but that is the exact description. It was grilled to char a bit and was delicious. We did prefer the red salsa over the green. A bit more spice and more flavorful. Taconganas were served with a side of cabbage and I found myself adding it to everything even though I was weary at first. I look forward to returning and trying more things. Birria Ramen sounds perfect to me. Run and enjoy! ( Ps. The service was delightful. And the atmosphere was fun and casual. They even had cornhole boards and life size connect 4. We ordered six tacos and two drinks, and our total came out to around $35. The food was definitely good. The meat was flavorful, the tacos were loaded, and everything tasted fresh. The tortillas held up well, and the toppings complemented the meat without overpowering it. The drinks were refreshing and paired well with the meal. That being said, the biggest issue for me is the price. While the tacos were tasty, I don't know if they were $35-for-lunch tasty. Memphis has no shortage of great taco trucks and taquerias, and honestly, you can find similar quality at several other spots for less money. The service was quick, and our food came out fast even during the lunch rush. The outdoor seating was nice, and the overall experience was enjoyable. I can see why Taco Nganas has such a strong following. Would I come back? Yes, but probably not often. This feels more like a once-in-a-while treat rather than a regular lunch stop. The food earns high marks, but the price keeps me from giving it five stars. Overall, good tacos, good service, and a good experience. Just be prepared to spend a little more than you would at most taco trucks. 4 out of 5 tacos.

The restaurant was not overly busy, which made the entire experience relaxed and enjoyable from the moment we walked in. The first thing that stood out was the service. Everyone there was welcoming, patient, and genuinely friendly. Since it was our first time trying a few things on the menu, we had several questions, and the staff took the time to explain everything without making us feel rushed. They gave recommendations, explained the toppings and flavors, and helped make ordering easy. I decided to try the specialty hot dogs, and honestly, they were amazing. They were packed with flavor and loaded with fresh toppings that worked perfectly together. The combination of creamy avocado, fresh vegetables, sauces, and perfectly cooked meat created a unique flavor that was both fresh and filling. Every bite had something different going on, and you could tell the ingredients were high quality and made with care. The presentation alone looked incredible, but the taste backed it up completely. The atmosphere was comfortable and casual, making it a great place to sit down and enjoy good food with family or friends. Nothing felt rushed, and the overall vibe made the experience even better. If you are looking for something different from the usual restaurant options and want flavorful food with friendly service, Las Tortugas is definitely worth visiting. We will absolutely be coming back again.

3.5, I think? This was a tough one for me to rate…read more My aunt lives near Las Tortugas and I've been reading about and thinking about visiting for years whenever I'm in the Memphis area. The stars aligned on this most recent visit and so I got to try them. This location in Germantown is a little easy to miss signage-wise, but Google Maps got me here easily. The parking lot is small but paved nicely and easy to navigate. The inside of the restaurant does feel like a deli, with a counter to order at and a small but reasonable amount of seating. The restaurant's accolades are plastered on walls and the glass windows around the food prep area and it's fun to read the history and writing about this place. There is one semi-essay seemingly from the owner, directed at patrons, grousing about customers having certain expectations about the food they're served (Tex-Mex versus authentic Mexican, for example). The owner is adamant that authentic Mexican is served here, and I have no reason to doubt that at all nor expect anything different, but I must admit the tone was rather off-putting. I can see how it would be frustrating to have your food, your work, be misunderstood or misinterpreted, but it kind of felt like I was being lectured when I hadn't done anything, lol. At any rate, I walked up to the counter to order. Service was adequately if not /especially/ friendly. I placed an order for a sandwich (Tortugas de pollo) as well as a limonada (fresh-squeezed limeade) to go. I waited at one of the tables and my order was ready for me in a reasonable amount of time. My favorite thing was the limonada! It had closer to an Icee texture than a juice or limeade texture but I really liked it. Pleasantly sweet and sour and very refreshing. The sandwich was good if not mind-blowing. Maybe my expectations were just a little too high. One problem was that it got pretty soggy very, very fast - it took me less than 10 minutes to get back to my aunt's house and unbox my food and in that time, the bottom piece of bread on my sandwich was close to falling apart. Some of the chicken was also a little too strong-tasting for me; it's hard to describe but I imagine we've all had chicken that's a little too obviously...well, chicken, lol. Not super mild tasting meat, I guess is what I'm trying to say. That aside, I enjoyed the texture of the cheese and the heat of the peppers. The top slice of bread was also nice and crusty. The sandwich came served with a handful of chips less generous than it appears in the photo and some green salsa. The chips were a little over-fried for me but decent enough, and the subtly spicy salsa went well with them. I think the greatest sticking point for me is the price vs. the quantity of food vs. the relative enjoyment. My meal was a solid bit over $30. I prooooobably could've split the sandwich with someone else and been okay, but given the relatively paltry amount of chips, I was also okay eating it as a solo diner. I think if the price had been a little lower, or the portion of chips a little bigger, or the enjoyment of the sandwich a little greater - any one of those things - this would probably round up to a 4. But ultimately the sticker shock and somewhat condescending vibes lead to a lower rating from me. Idk, I would definitely say this restaurant is worth a try and I'm glad I experienced it and would recommend trying it to others who enjoy this type of Mexican food. That said, I'm also not completely confident I'd return on another visit to Memphis. Well, okay, I would definitely for the limonada. That thing was awesome. ;)

tl;dr - Awesome tacos, reasonable price, food truck setups, DO NOT PASS THEM UP!…read more I'm no stranger to tacos, and my stint in SoCal around the San Diego area for a few years only solidified this. That said, the quest for a good taco never ends; however, it has ended for me in the Memphis area. I can say, with no exception, when I want a taco, Taco N'ganas is my JAM. I've been to very literally all of them, because, when the craving hits, the call must be heeded. I can say that they all have virtually no difference in food quality. Some are easier to get in and out of than others, and some have more parking than others, but neither of those would sway me in driving to one over the other or opting to "wait" if I were nearby a specific location. One thing I will say, if you special order tacos, especially to-go, give it a quick peep to make sure all is as it should be. The couple of times I've ordered (correctly) online and things haven't been as was ticketed, the folks working the location were quick to fix it. Now, the good stuff... The burritos and quesadillas are the size of your head, so bring an appetite (or a friend) for those beasts. The tacos...the tacos are another thing, entirely. The street tacos are your standard street tacos size, and STUFFED with the protein of your choosing - again, a "taco Connie Asado," so I've tried them all and they are all good, depending on your mood/taste - I go with barbacoa/birria and/or al pastor. Then, there are the taco n'ganas, which are similar to the street tacos, but elevated to the stratosphere. There are cooked more like you would see traditional birria tacos prepared - dipped in a yummy consomé and seared on the flattop until the oerfect balance of crispy and soft...again, stuffed with ample protein of your choosing. They are all food truck setups, so while they have seating, it'll be bottled beverages sitting outside, unless you get it to-go. Honestly, the setups are always well-appointed and clean, so I don't see that as an issue - even with the heat and humidity of the summer months upon us and forthcoming. If you aren't hungry yet and on your way to one of their locations around town, then we aren't going to be friends. If you're still with me, why aren't you on your way to one of their locations to satisfy your NEED for some of the best tacos you'll put in your face?! You can thank me by supporting this local gem.

They brought out complimentary chips and salsa--definitely a highlight. The chips were seasoned (not your typical plain chips), and paired really well with the salsa. Super flavorful! For drinks, I ordered the Tornado Jumbo, and my husband got a Tornado with Hennessy added. Both were really good. I especially liked that each layer had a distinct flavor--some places make colorful drinks that all taste the same, but that wasn't the case here. We ordered a single order of steak, chicken, and shrimp fajitas. While the flavor was good, it did feel a bit heavy on the vegetables and a little light on the meat. When the dish first came out, it included bacon, which we weren't expecting and don't eat. However, the staff handled it well--they apologized and quickly remade it without any issue. Great customer service there. Even with the single order, we were able to make about five tacos, which was nice. My daughter ordered the kids' cheese pizza with a side option (fries or rice and beans). The pizza was similar to a frozen-style pizza, and she didn't care for it, but she did enjoy the chips, rice, and beans.
