I do not recommend storing your belongings with this company. In November 2022 their main gate…read morestopped working, meaning the facility has been open to anyone 24/7. As of the end of March 2023, the gate is still unsecured and is never closed. I had escalated my concerns to local management multiple times and they didn't have any sense of urgency around this and kept saying the issue was to be fixed "next week". One of the employees even said to me "well, you haven't been robbed". They also have had issues with their lights being on at night which has added to my concerns regarding their security. They do have cameras but this does not prevent anyone from entering or exiting the facility. I even escalated to their corporate office multiple times and no one ever acknowledged my concerns or got back to me. If you search online you'll see this has been an issue in other locations and people have been robbed. There is a new manager at this location who does want to improve things but she has limited control and it's clear this company does not care about the local security issues and I'd highly recommend avoiding them at all cost.

RODENTS and RODENT FECES…read more I rented a unit from Avon Self Storage for more than 10 years while I was living abroad. When I returned in November, 2016, I discovered RODENT FECES in nearly all of my personal effects (sofa, furniture, clothing, etc.). The owner will no doubt suggest that this was unique to my unit, but I had the opportunity to inspect other units at the same location and my unit is by no means an exception! To the best of my knowledge, there is NO perimeter rodent control and NO rodent traps or poison in the buildings. Most professional storage facilities use either or both methods to ensure the protection of their clients' property. The only solution the owner offered was to set traps inside my unit in the future if I notified him of a rodent issue. That's a bit odd - what is the benefit of setting traps in a storage unit once rodents have already infested it? Thousands of dollars of furniture and personal effects now need to be replaced or professionally cleaned. The only compensation the owner provided was 1 month's rent deducted from my final bill. That's a bit cheeky. He is well aware that he has a rodent infestation problem, the large sum of money I have paid him over 10 years and the damage that was done due to the rodent infestation. My suggestion - find a rental unit at a facility that either has active rodent control (perimeter and in each building) or a facility that is entirely sealed in a multi-story building. These facilities may charge more, but at least you have the peace of mind that your property will not be contaminated with rodent feces.

I made it clear that I had a lot of large, heavy furniture and I also told them the sizes of the two storage units that I wanted emptied and brought to my new house. I specifically asked if it would all fit and if they would make multiple trips. I was quoted a price for six hours including tax. They did bring most of the large, heavy stuff but took NONE of the boxes. Now I am left to empty half of a 10x25 unit in MANY trips in my car. Not only that, but one of the movers spent a lot of time trying to get out a splinter (using tweezers that I offered) and using the bathroom and the other guy stood around waiting for him. This caused me to be charged for an extra hour. I'm grateful for what they did, but it wasn't as much as I was expecting. I'm older and on a limited budget so I went with the lower priced option because she said they would handle it, but they didn't and now my arthritic knees and back are paying for it.
