I met Yumi by chance one random day I decided to go to the mall and my husband and I were just tossing the idea of buying our first home together. I'm under 35 and was recently a first time homebuyer. As you can imagine, being a young person looking to enter into the Hawaii real estate market can be a hugely challenging and stressful experience. I was assigned to a Locations agent whom I never met but had communicated with via phone and email. I wanted to set up viewings of apartments while working with a lender, but that never happened. I just got the feeling that because I was a young first time homebuyer, I would not be at the top of the list of priorities when there are older couples looking to buy million dollar homes. There was one very good real estate opportunity near my workplace I lost out on because of this agent's dawdling. The lender also was not helpful. I asked to be informed of grants and government programs available to first time homebuyers in Hawaii, with a certain amount of income, etc., but I was not told anything. Frustrated and feeling like I was working with people I could not trust to get me the best deal on a home and loan, I cut my losses and researched online to find a realtor and lender who would be more flexible with my needs.
