We've been coming here for several years. It's just a great little place with great trees and super prices. They supply the saw if you don't have one. They have porta-potties in case you have to do your business. They sell swags, wreaths, and Santa makes an appearance every time we're there. Douglas firs, grands, noble. They have it all. I was disappointed this year when I went. It usually is a wonderful experience. There have been many options when I have gone, but there were few this year, and the pre-cut ones were costly. The workers there are friendly, but it has gone downhill; most of the time, it is excellent, and there's hot cocoa and even a little lake, but recently I have been let down. read more

Our first time at Loch Lolly and reading the reviews we were hesitant but were pleasantly surprised at this quaint, adorable farm. There is no $5.00 entry fee and there are plenty of 6ft plus trees to choose from. Staff was very friendly from start to finish. We found a great Noble tree right away. They provide a saw. No chainsaws allowed. There is a station for you to bale your tree ($2.00) but we were happy to tie it up on our car. After roping our tree we enjoyed the gift shop and wreath shop. Bought a cute little snowman ornament to remember our visit here. Enjoyed the fire pit by the loch/lake and fed the ducks. Beautiful coastal forest and well run place to get your Christmas tree. Santa was also there but we did not have any little ones with us . It looked really cute inside the Santa shop. Also a beautiful drive out to the farm. We will be back next year. read more

We swung by to pick up a tree and see Santa and were not disappointed. We found a perfect tree for a great price, and Santa was there and he was on point and our granddaughter loved him... Great service from the staff as usual and we were on our way with our tree all bundled up in no time... One of our favorite tree farms! read more

I love this Christmas Tree Farm. We came here last year because a friend of ours recommended it and ended up coming back this year as well. They have a little "village" in the middle of the christmas tree's where they have a pond and 2 little houses...one has gifts the other has wreathes and garland. Sitting on the porch of the gift shop is none other than Santa in his sleigh, at least that is what my 8 year old swears "mommy, it's the REAL santa". Last year as we were walking up the stairs we said her name..when she climbed on Santa's lap he said "Well Molly, it's nice to see you this year! You've gotten so big!" Her eyes got REALLY wide and she looked at us and smiled, barely able to tell Santa what she wanted, it was amazing. When she got off his lap and walked away she whispered "That's the real santa! He knew my name without you even saying it!!!!" She looked so happy. This year she was going to "prove" it was the real santa and made sure we didn't say her name, and by magic again he knew, the pictures were priceless. Check out their website, they have reindeer that visit there in their early season, turkeys, a goat and lots of trees, any kind you want. Their prices are reasonable for u-cut and they will bind it for a dollar and help you get it on top of your car : unless you are a pro, then you don't need them :) Bring your kids...it's a great experience. read more

First off, a disclaimer....these are nice folks. That said, they need to consider closing the farm for a couple of years. As I said a couple of years ago, the place was shopped into the ground at THAT time and trees don't grow like weeds so.....we returned this year just to see if there was any hope of a tree here - that's a big "no". If you're looking for a 3-4 foot tree, you might be in luck, but I think that's the minority of folks - the farm is extremely picked through. They had a handful of pre-cut trees down by the bailer, but they were pretty pricey and were clearly from a farm further up the mountain so why not just go there instead? I will for the next several years. Good luck to the Loch Lolly folks, and thanks for a couple of years of great trees! read more

Pros: Santa was fantastic, the (free)hot chocolate stand next to the pond was nice, and the reindeer was a cool. Cons: The reindeer are in a dungeon, barely any trees, precut trees are waaaay overpriced. Would not recommend- left without a tree and followed signs for another tree farm about 15 minutes up the road and found the farm we'll be going to from now on. read more

I can't compare different tree farms, as this was my first. There is a paper map given at the entrance to guide the location of all the types of trees on the farm and their prices. The live Santa Claus for photo ops was great. I got some guidance fastening the tree to my car with provided twine from the owner himself, I guess I looked pretty pitiful in the rain trying to figure it out. For that, I'll vouch for this farm as a great business that cares about their customers! Definitely keep the map, and remember the roads are one-way so you have to loop around to get back to the main area where they shake the bugs and leaves from the tree and bind it for transport. read more

This was my first visit to a Christmas tree farm! I was really excited for this experience with my family. Greeted by smells and the *live reindeer* sign, I was expecting... Just... More? They have an amazing selection of trees! Plenty of signage. And hey, they even throw in a saw. Reindeer was fun for me, as I am easily excited by animals. But the "live reindeer" sign that leads you to the farm doesn't prepare you for that underwhelming reindeer experience. As we drove out with our tree, we were told our "little cutie" would cost $47. A tree 3' and under is $20. The tree is 4 feet fall. I'm a little disappointed in pricing. I'm happy with the tree, but I don't think we will be back because of the expenses. read more

We've been visiting Loch Lolly since our daughters first Christmas and twelve years later, until today, looked forward to our time cutting down our own Noble. Visiting Santa is definitely a must do and having hot chocolate near the fire, lakeside, is also a great experience during a cold wet or sunny and cold weather. Absolutely everyone is pleasant to talk to and we always purchase a wreath and ornament from the store. This year was different! When we were greeted at the gate we advised we're looking for our Noble but we were told we could cut our own. They didn't want the wrong trees cut. We were disappointed but understood and were told we could select some great pre-cut Noble trees. We did exactly that and didn't think anything about cost as none of the pre-cut trees were priced. When we checked out at the gate we were told our 8-9ft tree was $53 but then he realized it was pre-cut and charged us $87 for the same tree. When I challenged the price because we wanted to cut our own tree but told we could not his response was "you can take the tree off your truck!" Um...nice response in front of a twelve year old who just selected the "perfect Christmas tree". We, unfortunately, will not return to Loch Lolly. If you're going to not allow customers to cut their own tree that's perfectly understandable. However make it clear by telling them or adding pricing to pre-cut trees. Don't surprise them when their kid has selected the tree. The only thing Loch Lolly has going for them is the Santa! He is an incredible Santa! I know they're all very good friends and volunteers his time to be on their farm. I hope they never lose him! read more

Cute tree farm. Trees were pretty small or way too big. Most trees were 6' and under. It was either that or a 12 foot tall tree. No in betweens. Must be because of the tree shortage/weather situation. Their saving grace was the Santa. He was so great and made our kids feel so special. We got a small tree...but might head somewhere else next year for a larger tree. Never saw the reindeer everyone posted about. read more

Love this place! They have a large farm w/ a good variety of trees, they have a pond w/ geese (?) that you can feed and free hot chocolate, they also have a couple of reindeer in the barn. Santa is usually waiting for the kids to come sit on his lap on the gift shop porch. We have been going here for several years and have never had any issues. We usually get a Nordmann (Looks like a blue spruce) which kinda has that frosted look to it, they will shake it & bail it for you for just a $1. Everybody there is very friendly and very much in the Christmas spirit. read more

The Good: Farm was great, nice layout, lots of nice tree's, nice pond for feeding the geese/ducks, shop was good. The reindeer were a lot of fun to check out as well. The Bad: Make sure you bring a tape measure! They seem to be over charging people on their tree's. We rented a Uhaul 4 x 7 trailer, had 3 trees in it with length room to spare on each of them. When we were leaving they wanted to charge us for trees that were over 8 feet, on all of them. This is when the guy "eyeballed them", I asked him to measure with their stick, came back and still said they were over 8'. Told him the trailer was only 7' long, and then that is when the guy in the booth chimed in with "it looks like your trailer is bigger than you thought it was". After doing some arguing and insisting that the trailer was only 7' long, and that they should re-do their measuring stick they charged us correctly. Be careful, I fear they are over charging most people for their tree's. They first thought we only had 2 tree's, I corrected him and said we have 3. If I do good by someone they should do the same for me, especially during Christmas! read more

We went to get our tree the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The selection for Nobles and Grand firs was very limited,but we were able to find an 'ok' tree. We had to pay $43 for this sub standard Grand fir which was barely 6 ft. It is already shedding too many needles, and we are fastidious about keeping it well watered. Overall I am very disappointed with this tree farm and will not return, unless we go just for Santa with the grandkids. read more

This used to be our go-to tree farm for quite some time. The lake is neat and Santa is always outstanding with the kids. We always get ornaments at the little shop and a hotdog with hot chocolate. The problem is that over the last 2 years it's been difficult finding a tree. We prefer a noble and they just don't have the trees available for cutting or they are too little. We always go the weekend after thanksgiving so I know we're not getting there too late in the season. I do see very nice pre-cut trees by the shaker/bailer, but this farm charges an outrageous premium for these pre-cuts. So we basically have the option of cutting down a smaller (or visually unappealing) tree for ~$50 or we can spend ~$80 on a 8/9ft precut. No thank you, it's time to replant some trees for the upcoming years or not cut down the nice ones so you may charge a $$ premium. And in case you're wondering, we left both years disappointed and without cutting down a tree. (Which is the point of going to a tree farm, correct?). read more

Well... First off, let me say that they do have a huge selection of extremely nice trees. They even have the "Silver Tip" flavor of Noble Firs that I prefer. On the other hand, I was massively underwhelmed by everything else about the place. The appearance of the "gift shop" and the attendants where less Christmas and more "Deliverance". There is no assistance whatsoever, you have to wrangle the tree you cut back down to the office on your own. There are no kneeler mats or even cardboard, just kneel in the mud, and the dullest saw in the state. On top of that, I was charged the 8-foot price for a 6-1/2 foot tree. Despite the really nice tree, I won't be going back. Wouldn't have gone in the first place but it's one of the very few places that are open on a weekday, our usual place isn't. read more

I've being going to Loch lolly since I was a young girl and now I take my family there. I love the pond and free hot chocolate. Their Santa is amazing, it's been the same one for a few years now. Yes you have to walk your tree to your car or bring your car close to your tree. Maybe city people expect more from a local family farm but you won't catch me complaining about it. This is a tough call, 3 or 4 stars. The nice selection of trees bumps it up to 4 stars. The positives: as noted a wide selection of trees of different varieties and sizes, they had real Reindeer to check out with tremendous antlers, Santa was on sight, free hot chocolate and coffee by an open-air covered fire pit, some food for purchase that looked A-ok, and there was snow on the ground (thanks to mother nature - and independent broker not affiliated with this location so I am told). The negatives included disorganization in how they operate. They have limited staff to help get the trees from the farm to the car. actually there was no staff to help with that task. i was there with small children who were there for the experience and not really able to help carry an 8 or 9foot tree. There is no central drop off point for the tree due to the parking situation. You need to get the tree to your car and go, you can't pull up to pick up the tree. The car flow situation on a crowded day is bad and this makes it really difficult to get around the farm. There were limited shaking and bailing stations (I saw only two, and you need to carry your tree a fair distance to get it there and then take it to your car, another long walk). There was a long wait to leave as you pay from your car on the way out. This makes for a log jam of cars on busy weekend days close to christmas. it would be much better to have a tag for your tree so you can go pay, and then simply leave. Despite the negatives its a fun experience to cut your own tree, be able to walk around a beautiful tree farm, roaming up and down great terrain, and spend a few hours taking in some christmas cheer and atmosphere. read more

Taking advantage of sunny weekday weather, I looked around for what tree farms might be open throughout the week. Since I was going with my parents (who have cut many trees over their lifetimes, but probably don't need to cut any more) in search of a large tree, I also needed a place that offered cutting assistance, shaking, baling, and help loading. Loch Lolly promised all that, which made it worth the fact that they charge a bit more than other nearby farms. Unfortunately, they didn't deliver. We arrived in the afternoon to find one poor guy running the place by himself who was unwilling/unable to leave the gift shop to help us. It was late to start looking for another place to go, and the man said he was expecting a couple more workers soon, so we decided to stay, find our tree, and get help cutting it when the two others returned. Mind you, we took our time looking around. Even so, when we were ready to cut our 11-foot tree, we had no help, but with the sun low in the sky we needed to go ahead. After my father and I finally brought the tree down, we checked again for assistance moving it. Uh-uh. We were told we should lift the (probably 300-lb.) tree onto the car ourselves and drive it over for shaking and baling. Ah, no. I had a tarp in the car, so my father and I rolled the tree onto it and tried dragging it toward the gift shop. After about 15 minutes of that nonsense, the other workers finally arrived, put the tree in their 4-wheeler, and drove it off. By the time we caught up with it, the tree was already baled -- without being shaken (they had taken it to the 'other' baler not near the shaker). By this time it was almost dark and my Christmas spirit had fled. The guy at the gift shop could probably sense my mood and didn't charge me the buck for baling. Yippee. So, Loch Lolly did not live up to its advertising, but I still gave them three stars because driving directions were well marked, they had nice trees in fields easy to navigate, and the two helpers expertly loaded and tied our tree to the roof rack in the end. Just be aware that if you go during the week you shouldn't expect help of any kind...or any of the activities geared toward the kids (Santa, reindeer, hot chocolate, etc.). If you're a do-it-yourselfer who doesn't need the extra stuff, there are other, cheaper options. read more
