I love this Christmas Tree Farm. We came here last year because a friend of ours recommended it and ended up coming back this year as well. They have a little "village" in the middle of the christmas tree's where they have a pond and 2 little houses...one has gifts the other has wreathes and garland. Sitting on the porch of the gift shop is none other than Santa in his sleigh, at least that is what my 8 year old swears "mommy, it's the REAL santa". Last year as we were walking up the stairs we said her name..when she climbed on Santa's lap he said "Well Molly, it's nice to see you this year! You've gotten so big!" Her eyes got REALLY wide and she looked at us and smiled, barely able to tell Santa what she wanted, it was amazing. When she got off his lap and walked away she whispered "That's the real santa! He knew my name without you even saying it!!!!" She looked so happy. This year she was going to "prove" it was the real santa and made sure we didn't say her name, and by magic again he knew, the pictures were priceless. Check out their website, they have reindeer that visit there in their early season, turkeys, a goat and lots of trees, any kind you want. Their prices are reasonable for u-cut and they will bind it for a dollar and help you get it on top of your car : unless you are a pro, then you don't need them :) Bring your kids...it's a great experience.

I always loved seeing their flowers as I drove by. I never did stop by, and now I live in Hillsboro. It's not that far of a drive, but I don't drive by very often anymore. Well, I saw a water color painting class event on Facebook being held at Blooming Junction. My sister and I have been really getting into doing water color painting. I signed us both up. I was excited not only for the class, I was really interested in checking out what Blooming Junction had to offer! I'm so glad this opportunity presented itself. Such a lovely nursery, all the plants looked so healthy and well cared for. It's much more than a nursery though. There was a market to buy fresh produce and other sundry items. I was delighted to find Bubbies brand pickles. I find this brand at other stores, but the dill relish has been illusive. I was just thinking to myself this morning while making chickpea salad how I wished I had Bubbies Dill relish..and lo and behold I find it here! So happy! My sister and I strolled around before our class started. Bought a drink in the market to sip on throughout the class. There was a water cooler also in the workshop area. We had fun getting in touch with our creative side! After class ended, we strolled around some more. I ended up getting the Bubbies relish and strawberries. They were so sweet! There are so many things to see besides plants. I am sure I will be back!

DO BUSINESS ELSEWHERE…read more The attitude of the employees, in particular the heavy weight, back-country prick who told me to "leave the property. This is a wholesale business and if you aren't buying something, leave." (Exact words). Context: I ride around town on a classic scooter. From time to time, I like to stop and look at a map. This is what I did today. I entered the lot through the entrance, parked my bike, having never gotten off the bike and checked the map on my phone. I hadn't been there five minutes. Mr Heavyweight, back-country prick in his white truck approached me and stated, "Can I help you?" I said, "No thank you. I am just checking my map." Mr Heavyweight, back-country prick, "This is a wholesale business and if you aren't here to make a purchase, then leave." It wasn't, "Then you will have to leave" or "This is private property," it was "then leave." Nowhere does it state that this is private property, that there is no trespassing, "if you aren't here to buy something , leave" or anything to that extent. Mr Heavyweight, back-country prick who drives the big white truck because, well you know what they say about guys who drive big trucks... Mr Heavyweight, back-country prick, if you aren't the owner of this establishment, then I hope your boss sees this and recognizes how you are representing their business. If you are the owner of this establishment, then, well you don't know the business I was preparing to begin with Cascadian Nurseries.
