During a time-crunched Boston day, my girlfriends and I struggled to find a brunch place to eat in Boston the day of (lesson learned for us)!, but we were 1000% lucky that we got one of the last few morning spots at Sunnyside All Day Brunch Cafe on a Saturday! Walking in, it was ABSOLUTELY packed and super busy, but luckily with our reservation, we were seated within 10 minutes! I had been CRAVING Chicken and Waffles and BOY it did not disappoint! I was served with the most perfectly made waffle with butter that just fell into the crevices and melted along with the most PERFECTLY CRISPY CHICKEN! I was extremely hungry, so I absolutely devoured it, but it hands down had to have been one of the best Chicken and Waffle plates I've ever had. Although I didn't drink the Espresso Martinins, my friends that did drink it enjoyed it thoroughly. Despite how packed and busy they were, the service was FAST and our waiter was so sweet and attentive and the vibe was just so fun and lively! My daughter and I stopped into Sunnyside to grab a last breakfast before we headed to the airport. It was really close to the airport and our Airbnb so we took it as a win win. This joint is so colorful, bright and fun! Walking in, you are bombarded with fun colored decor, sports memorabilia and perfectly set tables. We were instantly greeted and helped at the door by the hostess. My daughter and I had our luggage with us so it was sweet of the hostess to hold the door for us. We were sat at a booth by the bar. We got such a great view of the bar and outside tables. We looked over the menu and they had a little bit of everything breakfast. My daughter got orange juice started and I got a cup of coffee. The gentleman that was serving us today didn't have a great personality. He was pretty dry which didn't really set the best tone for a great first impression. I got the All American breakfast with bacon. My daughter got the Spanish omelet. Both came with potatoes. So while our food was being prepared, my daughter and I just kicked it. Our food was dropped off after a bit. To be honest, I found my plate humorous. 18 bucks for a few small rounds of hashbrowns, 2 eggs and 2 pieces of bacon. I guess when I read potatoes on the menu, I was expecting POTATOES. Country potatoes, a slab of hashbrowns.... Being from Idaho, these "potatoes" were not it. My breakfast was pretty basic so yes, the eggs and bacon was good. My daughter's Spanish omelet looked decent. She ate about 2 thirds of it. And a couple hashbrown rounds. Overall, the location, setting and concept of brunch all day is great. Could the plate look more exciting? Yes. Could my server been more kind? Yes. Could my server actually served my daughter and I? Yes. Could I have gotten refill on my coffee? Yes. My server did the bare minimum which I find annoying. I just feel like for a beautiful venue the service didn't match it's vibe. My server was far from bright, colorful and happy. I look forward to heading back to Boise today for a real breakfast with real portions and real potatoes. I really wanted to like this brunch spot but I was beyond disappointed in service and variety. For starters we walked in with no reservations and were seated immediately on a Saturday around 12:30. That was nice. Food 6/10- hash was burnt but eggs and English muffin were good as well as the little mini hashbrowns . French toast was really good though . Now let's talk about the cons : 1- for those that cannot have whole milk in your coffee, prepare to drink hot tea or a cocktail because they only have a whole milk option which was beyond frustrating. 2- service was mehhhhh. More servers than tables yet it seemed as though they were rushing us out as they kept eyeing our table and the other couple behind us yet there were plenty of empty tables. I love the concept of an all-day brunch cafe and wish there was more of them in the medford/somerville area. I visited with a friend for my birthday and it was delightful. It was packed at 11:30 on a monday (memorial day), so we were sat in the back room. The ambiance was still great back there but service took forever, probably 25+ minutes just for someone to come to our table. Our server was an angel and so apologetic for the wait. It was definitely not his fault because it seemed he was the only server for the whole place, so just a staffing issue. He comped something for us to make up for it and it was so appreciated it. We started with pomegranate mimosas and the french toast sticks which were both so yummy and both a great size. I love the idea of brunch appetizers! I had the smoked salmon benedict as my main. I loved the hashbrown circles and the taste was great but I was expecting poached eggs like a traditional benedict. Stopped by for late Sunday brunch with the family. This place did not disappoint! My girls absolutely loved the hot chocolate, best in town! Strawberry cheesecake was the best I've ever had and I don't even have a sweet tooth. I absolutely loved this plate. So fluffy, not overly sweet. I'm a plain pancake type of girl and this did not disappoint! The hash browns here were outstanding, super crispy without overly cooked. My girls did not want to share. I had an expression martini because who does brunch without one? It was perfect. I had the spinach and tomato egg benefit and I loved their twist on the English muffin. - apple chicken sausage is a must have. My 5 year old did not share! - don't leave without the bacon, touch of maple and cooked to perfection. What an interesting dining experience. We had a 930 am reservation and were seated promptly. Water was brought to the table. Reviewed the menu and I must say, was disappointed by the limited options. Make the very best of the experience. Order for baked potato hash. It was five or six large tator tots with cold congealed cheese on top. Not really edible. And my friend did not want me to send it back but that would have been the correct choice. Within literally minutes our entrees came. She had the red velvet pancakes and I the egg white omelet with english muffins. The pancakes were delicious and portions huge. My omelet was good but not special. What was curious was the english muffins that came pre buttered and no jams or jellies. They were good but no condiments. When I asked the server points to a container of Smucker jams, like you would get at Ihop. Also the food came to the table warm but not hot. The vibe in the place is great for kids. I ordered a Cranberry juice, the Western Omelette with Potato Hash Browns and no toast. If only you could substitute the toast for a Pancake even if it's a up-charge, that would have been great. I wish a meat option came with this order. I ended up ordering a Pancake and additional side of Bacon. Everything was really good. My sister took me to Sunnyside All Day Brunch Café in Boston for an early birthday brunch, and I was excited to try it as I'd heard from a few other girls that it was really good! They have outdoor seating, but since it was already pretty warm out (and I sweat ), we chose to sit inside. The place is super cute and decorative, with fun touches like a table full of games and a Rubik's cube inspired wall design. I started with a hot coffee, and the menu had a ton of options. I don't usually go for pancakes, so I was happy to see French toast and waffles on the menu too. I went back and forth between the cookie dough French toast and the chicken & waffles, even though I wasn't totally sold on the maple barbecue syrup it came with. Still, I took the risk and ordered it! We also got the Million Dollar Bacon appetizer because it looked cool when other people would order it. It ended up being one of my favorite things. Sweet, crispy, and just really delicious. My sister ordered the Cookie Dough French Toast, which looked amazing and it tasted amazing (she let me try it). We both got mimosa flights which contained four different flavors, but honestly, they all kind of tasted the same since the champagne overpowered the mixers, not necessarily a bad thing, just something to know. My chicken was crispy, juicy, and tender so so so good! As I guessed, the maple BBQ syrup combo wasn't my favorite, and since it's already poured on the plate, it was hard to avoid. But I still ate most of it and enjoyed it overall. Our server Carlos was super attentive, and we never felt rushed, which made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. Breakfast at Sunnyside was easy to plan from afar. We were coming to Boston from Maine and needed a place to eat before heading to Harvard. The location was easy to navigate- hardly any traffic, had FREE garage parking (what?!) and offered reservations. It honestly didn't feel like we were in the midst of the city! My son enjoyed his cookie dough waffle and I thought the caramel banana french toast was delicious. My daughter didn't like the chicken and waffles as much as she had hoped. The bbq sauce from the chicken is also drizzled over the waffle and that just made for a weird flavor profile. It would have been better to have syrup from the waffle on the chicken, if one condiment was to be chosen. The ovewhelming hot chocolate was loaded with a nice thick layer of fluff. It stayed hot for so long that he was unable to drink it with his meal so we actually took it with us in a disposable cup. Service was fast and friendly. Games were available to keep the kids busy. The location was clean. I would say that the prices were a bit inflated considering the baseline cost to make a pancake/waffle/frenchtoast. The ONLY quibble I had is that this location is a bit hard to get to if you're in tourist mode - so we added a $50 roundtrip Uber to/from Seaport. Bar that, we absolutely loved Sunnyside. The pumpkin waffle was a knockout and the French toast was exquisite, avoiding the "too eggy" pitfall of many subpar toasts. They were fully/appropriately staffed for Sunday morning rush, so everything was seamless. I was a little disappointed with their coffee and juice selection, there wasn't much variety. The service was kind of slow and we had to ask the server for refills on coffee, it wasn't offered, not sure if that's their policy though. The food was really good and everyone enjoyed their meals. Made last-min impromptu breakfast plans before my mom's flight. We needed a quick spot close enough to the airport with easy parking. I came across Sunnyside and it looked like a cute spot that met our requirements. It's about 10 mins from the airport and has a parking garage (free for 0-3 hours). It's located at Hood Park which seemed like a nice little park area. The restaurant itself was super cute and had a fun vibe. They have indoor and outdoor seating - the outdoor area is covered and has turf grass, high tops and regular tables, and string lights. We opted to sit outside since it was a nice day and not too hot. They serve breakfast and lunch and have a decent spread - lot of unique sweet treats. We opted for a Benedict and Blueberry Belgian Waffle and side of the maple chicken sausage. Both were excellent! The service was good and we were able to get in and out within the hour. Given we did have time restraints, I did make a reservation (maybe an hour or two before) but we would have likely been seated quickly anyways as it was not packed when we arrived. 10's across the board! The best pancakes any of us have ever had. We tried so many things on the menu over our 4 day in a row visits. Classic pancakes, fruity pebble pancakes, red velvet, banana French toast, omelette, fruit bowl, kids meal! I have a peanut tree nut allergy. I was nervous but when I didn't see anything labeled with nuts on the menu I asked our server would it be safe to have French toast, she spoke with her manager and chef and the manager came to tell me while they were unsure about any cross contamination with French toast they knew pancakes would be safe for me. My allergy order arrived separate from the group meals and they came to the table specifying nut allergy no cross contamination. Made me so comfortable, enough so to eat them 4 days in a row. Beyond grateful. Thank you guys! It's completely child friendly, with toys, coloring supplies and fidget items to keep kids enjoying their experience. Indoor and outdoor seating. A cute, sweet staff. Overall a great vibe. Free parking in garage above restaurant, be prepared to take stairs both ways! While the weekdays were easy to get a table, we arrived on weekend to an 1.5 hour wait because of brunch but was able to get in after speaking to the manager after our frequent visits to be squeezed in sooner. After hearing great things about Sunnyside, I decided to head down here, but ordered online takeout on the way since I had an appointment to go to. I arrived here 15 minutes later and briefly parked out front, ran inside, my bagged order was all set to go. I enjoyed my impromptu breakfast in my ride. The only issue was that part of my order was forgotten. I mentioned it several times to both the waitress and the server, and each time they reassured me it was on the way. After the third check-in, the kitchen finally sent it out -- but by then, I had already finished eating. I was ready to leave a 3-star review, but the server went above and beyond to make it right. She spoke with the manager, who removed the missing item from the bill and even comped my coffee. Reservations/Wait Time (4.8/5.0) - There are options to make a reservation, which is recommended if you plan to dine during the "brunch rush," especially on weekends. We arrived on a Sunday morning around 11:15 AM and were told that there was a 20-25 minute wait. We ended up grabbing some seats at the bar, which was first-come, first-served with no wait. If you're looking to sit at a table and don't want to wait, then a reservation is recommended. Ambience (5/5) - definitely a cool spot for brunch. From the "fun" menu to just the great vibe, it was a great spot to enjoy brunch with your partner or with friends. Service (3.8/5) - with sitting at the bar, you still get access to the full menu; however, you are at the mercy of the bartender based on how busy things are, as they are making drinks for the entire restaurant. Unfortunately, in our case, there was one person behind the bar, and although he was hustling the entire time we were there, service was pretty slow, and we waited quite a bit. No knock on the guy as he did his best; however, we waited quite a bit for menus, putting in our order, and even a cup of coffee. In all fairness to the bartender, they should've got him some help to handle the brunch rush. Fortunately, we weren't in a rush, so we managed to be patient, which he acknowledged even when we asked for our check. He did eventually get some help, but even when we asked for something as simple as salt and hot sauce, the individual helping deferred back to the bartender to help us, which resulted in a longer wait for us. We ordered blueberry pancakes, the mixed berry French toast, and a few sides (eggs and bacon). All items were great! The pancakes came in an order of 3 and were massive, as were the French toast with 3 pieces and fresh fruit all over them. We finished our meal with a mimosa flight, which came quickly and included orange, grapefruit, and pomegranate mimosas. The food came out quickly, hot, and had great flavor. Price (5/5) - for the amount of food you get, and what you pay for, I would say it was reasonable. Our bill total was about $75 and that is inclusive of an 18% tip. Overall Rating - 4.73 out of 5. The one thing that dragged this score lower was the service. The longer waiting period while sitting at the bar was a bit disappointing, but the food and portions made up for it. About 90% of the food tasted like it was reheated frozen food -- the kind you could easily make at home, not something you expect to pay restaurant prices for. On top of that, our drinks never came. After waiting, I had to ask who I assume was the manager. While she was trying to fix it, I saw our waiter give her attitude and, from what I could tell, claim we never ordered the drinks. Thankfully, the drinks were taken off the bill, but the whole interaction was uncomfortable and unprofessional. For how expensive this place is, the food was extremely mediocre at best. Service was slow- had to ask for more coffee, waters. Food was mediocre- a lot of frozen product pre made breakfast items. Seems like they are trying to cater more towards little kids breakfast. Waffle was still raw/ mushy inside and the " little blueberry muffins" dry and tasteless. Coffee was lukewarm. Some staff very inattentive. Parking in garage is free up to 2 hours. This breakfast joint is located only 10 minutes from the airport and was just what we were looking for! I wish I would have known about this place when we initially flew in to Boston and were starved - don't make the same mistake - eat here before or after your flight ;) The service was great, attentive server, helpful host, the manager even held the doors open for us while we wheeled out our luggage which they kindly allowed us to store to the side of our table. There is an indoor eating section and an outdoor patio, both decorated warmly & beautifully with lights, paintings, and various seasonal decor. We ordered the classic breakfast, breakfast sandwich, French toast, and a bagel (to go). All were great and the price was right. Totally reccomend :) read more
