A plumbing store like Locke's is a gem. You can take any broken part there and they will either have the replacement in stock or can order it. I call local plumbers Hiller for emergencies, but even the Hiller plumber told me to take the shower valve to Locke. I had even tried taking the shower valve to Home Depot, but even they had no idea how to help me since my valve cartridge was stuck in a brass tube. It was Saturday and Locke was closed, so I had to wait till Monday... I also like Locke because they can help you with older vintage sinks and toilets. Call me crazy but my wife and I love colorful old toilets and sinks. We bought a yellow sink from them and I used some parts from their shop to refurbish an old pink toilet I picked up at an estate sale. The guys who work/own the shop are really knowledgeable and will talk to you about any strategies for fixing it yourself. Our bathtub spout has been dripping slowly and irregularly for a couple months. We tried to replace the spout with diverter and also shower head but didn't fix the problem. Finally decided to replace the shower faucet (the adjuster), took the inside parts to Home Depot but found out the parts were 40 year old design and they no longer have those in stock. We tried to google online to find out where to order these. Luckily Locke Plumbing has these items for sale. Checked google reviews and they are great. We placed the order online and received the package within 3 business days. Email communication was smooth. They also sent us a tracking number once the order has been processed. Recently the 2 way diverter valve on my bathtub quit working. I took it to JOSCO (our local plumbing supply house in Austin) -- they said the cartridge is permanently sealed in the housing so there is no way to extract it from the housing (or they were unwilling/unable to do it). Either way, they said they could not help me, and I should buy a COMPLETE new Roman tub set! I was unsatisfied with this answer, so I looked for a similar diverter valve online. That is how I found Locke Plumbing. I found a similar looking valve online (SYM-4-458) and emailed Locke Plumbing to ask if it would replace mine (I sent a photo of mine along with the request). I received an immediate response asking why I didn't just replace the cartridge. I related the info I was given by the folks at JOSCO and was told that in 40 years in the plumbing supply business they had never seen a diverter valve that DID NOT have a replaceable cartridge. They offered to look at it for me, so I sent it to them by mail. After receiving it they promptly disassembled the valve into its components and told me that although they did not stock the cartridge it was available online. They returned the valve to me with a print out showing where I could order the cartridge. I ordered the cartridge from that vendor and when the part arrived I had no trouble installing it and re-installing the repaired diverter valve back into the tub deck. Locke Plumbing went above and beyond what I expected. They took the time to help me with competent advice and, even though they did not have the part needed to make the repair, they showed me how I could obtain it. I am a 62 yr old female in NY state and working on 60-year old plumbing in my house, trying to keep it original and Locke was THE ONLY PLACE I can find the parts I need for my American Standard toilet and sinks. Service and pricing are great, this is my second purchase and will most likely buy again as the original plumbing wears out. All the local plumbers tell me you can't get anything to service these faucets or the toilet. Years ago, before the Internet, I had to replace a toilet simply because I could not get the parts to fix it, but with the second bathroom which is hardly used, I was finally able to locate the flapper valve unique to the American Standard toilet I have and replace it myself, as I am doing now with my faucets.
