Lockhart Smokehouse is located inside of Texas Live! tucked away in the corner closest to Globe Life. The space is pure bbq joint with lots of woods, metals, neon lighting and chalkboard signs. The space is pretty large, like most places located in Live! It features two full bars, a large indoor dining room with booths, standard eating and high tops and then opens to a good sized outdoor covered patio. It's a walk up, order and receive at the counter type of place. Usually one person is ordering, one person is getting the hot sides and one is cutting the meat. So you get your food on the spot without delay. Speaking of food, they have a limited or focused menu that features brisket, chicken, turkey and sausage by the pound with offerings of hot or cold sides from the classic Mac n cheese to blue cheese coleslaw and even brisket deviled eggs. We all went with the brisket, baked beans and Mac n cheese. While that wasn't any of our first or second choice, as we wanted the special burnt ends, but they were out then I wanted the jalapeño sausage, but again, they were out. So we walk went brisket. The brisket was decent, less fatty than other places I have had, which I can appreciate. However some pieces were moist, and others a bit dry. There is a small station that had containers of pickles, onions, etc...and their house sauce. Just a single sauce type, so if you aren't a fan of a tangy version of your classic bbq sauce, then this ain't the place for you. Service was friendly, even when they were telling us they were out of stuff. The manager also brought us a small apple cobbler on the house, which was a nice touch. Overall, decent spot with some tasty, albeit not mind blowing, bbq. Solid 3.5 stars. read more

My wife and I had a very distressing experience at Lockhart Smokehouse recently. We walked up to the counter and saw that the posted price for brisket was $16.00+ for 1/2 pound of meat. While that price seemed outrageously high, we decided to proceed by ordering 1/4 pound of brisket each. Based on the posted price, we expected the price to be approximately $16.00 for the combined 1/2 pound of brisket. The meat was placed on the scale and we were informed the price would be $37.43. The look on my face must have been frightening. The girl at the cash register said, "I put the meat on the scale and that's what it told me to charge." I explained what our expectation was - 2 x 1/4 pound x $8.00 = $16.00 (plus tax). She said nothing. I must give credit to the manager-on-duty who immediately stepped in and discounted our meal by 50%. In spite of this very thoughtful gesture, the experience left a very bad taste in our mouths. Sadly, when we got to our table and opened the wrapped barbecue, at least 50% of our purchase was fat and had to be discarded. read more

Christina (or Christine, we were too busy eating to confirm ) hooked us up at the bar with Deep Eddy's grapefruit vodka + soda + lemon and a Miller Lite. She then convinced us to try the BBQ. Now, I'm not a big BBQ fan, so I was fully prepared to be "meh" about it. Instead... I was wildly surprised. We grabbed a half pound of turkey, small mac & cheese, plus all the fixings--bread, BBQ sauces, pickles, pickled onions, jalapeños. Built our own little mix. As you can tell from the photo... it was absolutely awful (read: sarcasm). We demolished the whole thing. When my bf got back and saw down we spread everything out we realized they had given him turkey breast instead of brisket so I sent him back and when he went to let them know they denied the mistake and made him pay for the brisket instead of just admitting to misunderstanding we ended up throwing away a pound of turkey breast which I hated because I don't like wasting food. Aside from that the brisket was delicious and juicy the side of pickles and jalapeños with every bite made it even better! The sides were amazing! I could probably eat those baked beans with a side of jalapeño sausage for the rest of my life and be happy! It is very crowded so be prepared to wait in a long line and wait for a table but the football ambiance while waiting is great they have plenty of TVs and bar seating as well if you find a spot to sit in. Great tender salty taste. 100% recommend. Beans were also delicious. Deviled eggs were good but I'd pass next time. They were out of macaroni and cheese which is what I wanted. Also wish I would had gotten the potato salad. Sausage was good. I like mine a firmer. It is moist and chewy but good flavor. I was however disappointed in the ribs. Maybe they were days old. They were over smoked and tasteless. They had the strange tender toughness to them when it was cooked enough to be tender but over cooked or reheated to loose it also. Either way they had no flavor. This place deserves all the stars in the world! We decided to eat here at it is located right next to the stadium. I ordered the jalapeño sausage, a small mac & cheese, and a small coleslaw. As I tried each item I was in shock they were all so amazing!! I immediately googled where the nearest Lockhart was to my hometown, to my dismay, there is not one within three hours, and my heart broke from there. I immediately googled the recipe for their coleslaw. It had some kick to it and a special crunch, and it was the best coleslaw I've had in my entire life - I promise you. Friends and I came here for lunch after our tour of the neighboring Globe Life Field. I ended up ordering the beef brisket, a serving of the original (not the jalapeño -- because I'm a delicate little flower when it comes to spice, haha) sausage, and a side of the Lockhart slaw (along with 3 slices of bread). I probably would have ordered a portion of the pulled pork as well - just to try it - but they didn't have any available at that time (a bit of a bummer, especially because they weren't super busy or anything). The sausage was probably my favorite part of the meal vs the brisket which seemed both overly fatty and had bark that seemed excessively burnt (with no real taste other than 'burnt'). The Lockhart slaw was okay, but I'd probably try the bleu cheese slaw next time. All around, just a very average meal. The service was friendly & the ambiance was inviting. I wasn't necessarily a huge fan of the large amount of butcher paper used to wrap individual meat orders, because, especially with bread slices inside the wrapping, it seemed a bit awkward to carry around (the wrapping came open easily). Also, as you're unwrapping everything, your table can become quite overwhelmed with everything and messy - especially as you're trying to share space with others who have their own food orders. TL;DR the main highlight of this Lockhart location is the convenience of it being within Texas Live / nearby Globe Life Field (and not too far from AT&T Stadium). Wasn't especially impressed with the brisket here, and would've preferred the pulled pork. If you're looking for bbq in Texas, perhaps visit the flagship Lockhart Smokehouse location in Dallas instead (I've never been there, but Texas-based friends have said good things). Based on our previous experience, we came back this time to try their meats. Our party tried the turkey, brisket, ribs, and both types of sausage. The brisket was hit and miss. Some cuts were good, but others had too much fat that hadn't cooked through. Lots of grease saturated through the wrapping paper after just a short walk to our table. Last night (Saturday, July 26th), we entered Lockhart Smokehouse after the Rangers game. After waiting in a long line to get in, we quickly realized it was way too crowded. We also discovered we couldn't get to other parts of Texas Live! because access was blocked. When we tried to leave through the entrance, we were turned away because of the still-growing line outside. We then went to the marked exit near the food area, only to find it blocked from the outside by a man with dreads or braids. He refused to turn around or communicate with any of us, even as several people were clearly trying to get out. He ignored a woman who was knocking on the glass while having a panic attack. We had to physically push the door open to help her out. Shockingly, the same staff member then pushed us back inside and blocked the exit again. We went to the front of the restaurant and begged the staff to let us out. They eventually agreed, but only after telling us we were "going against the flow." This entire situation was completely unacceptable and incredibly unsafe. Blocking a designated exit is illegal. Ignoring customers in visible distress is inhumane. Whoever was working that door should not be in a position of authority, especially in a hospitality setting. We will be filing an official OSHA complaint. Lockhart Smokehouse in Arlington should be held accountable for these dangerous and irresponsible actions. read more

Was the worst tasting BBQ I have had living here in North Texas. I am from Central Texas near Austin, so I know Lockhart BBQ and Elgin Sausage and others. I also have been to the one downtown Dallas and that one was superb, not sure what the issue is at this location. The ribs were dry, sausage color seem off and a little sour taste to it. My wife and I were in Arlington on a mini vacation to see the Texas Rangers and the new Globe Life Park, and surprised to not only see a large entertainment complex next to the stadium but a Lockhart Smoke House location. We have been to the original location in Lockhart, but this place smelled smoky fresh. We had arrived for lunch were there was a game later at night, so may have explained only a handful of people here. Based upon their menu I was a Texas Vegetarian by ordering Turkey and a side of Potato Salad. They also have the normal beef and pork where my wife got some of that. You order first and then find a place to sit. The staff was nice and friendly. The ambiance is small Texas country store with the smell of wood smoke in the air. With the large wood tables it makes it perfect to spread your butcher paper on and organize your meats and sides. White bread is provided to make roadside sandwiches or to dip in your bbq sauce. The turkey was very smokily seasoned and soft to the bite. The potato salad was interesting and not really to my liking as much. Perhaps because it had brisket in it. Overall it was very good and being from Austin with top BBQ places all around its nice to see Arlington get a taste of it. read more

I'm surprised by the number of poor reviews. My brisket was outstanding and so were the deviled eggs. The brisket was as tender as any I've ever had and the bark was excellent.
