I had key fobs/keys for a Honda Element that I had purchased off the internet that I needed programmed and duplicate keys made, since I had purchased it used with only one set of keys. I called the office and they scheduled Edgar to come to my place in Oakland within a couple hours of calling. Edgar reached out to confirm and gave me an ETA, and later to update ETA when he ran into a slight delay. When he arrived we discovered that I had the wrong chip in the keys due to some change they made in the middle of that model year, so my keys were not going to work. Audi dealer wanted to charge $542 to replace lost Audi key. In addition, I would have had to wait 3-5 business days for them to get the key, make an appointment and then go there with my spare key and car. I found Lockology, spoke to David and Alex. They could drive from Oakland and meet me at my house in San Francisco. They had a key in stock. In any case, I was traveling, so I made an appointment for Saturday morning. Alex was very respectful, sent me appointment reminders. On appointment day, David, the owner and locksmith arrived. What a great bunch of guys. Alex answered and I told him I was stranded in Alameda with a key that had broken in half for my 2003 Volvo V40 . He had to hang up to call his guys in the field and check if they had blanks, and he says "don't worry, I'll call you right back!" That's when I remember, omg yes, this could be really stressful, but this one was easy peasy. Alex did confirm they had the blanks and an ETA of 90 minutes, which was totally understandable since the "best" time for people to have car / key trouble is our first day of real rain, of course! I only had myself to blame for walking out of my apartment without my door keys (had instead grabbed my car keys) with nothing else in my pocket except my iPod as I was going out for a run. As I was beating myself up, the most weird and surprising coincidence in the world happened - I saw the Lockology van parked on the corner of my apartment building. GREAT service bad a great price. Have a 2003 Volvo S40 that I lost my last set of keys. Since it was sitting in the BART parking lot, if I had to use the Dealer, I would have had to tow it to the dealership while waiting 3-5 business days for the replacement keys. AND THEN would have paid nearly twice as much for only one key. This group came out the same day (within only a few hours) and had me in the car and with two new transponder keys. So thankful we have alternatives to the dealers because they certainly act like we don't. read more

These folks are on hit!!! I went to the Honda dealer in Oakland on Saturday (9/6/2014) for a new remote key and they told me that it would be $250 for a replacement. I did not need a replacement, I just needed a new housing for my remote control. I walked out of my room this morning and I have the habit of turning the lock from the inside as I walk out. Made breakfast and forgot something in my room then lo and behold...I forgot my keys and wallet. Definitely couldn't go to work without them. The old card trick doesn't work because the door frame blocks you from doing it. Also didn't have the supplies to pick it. Thankfully I had my phone and internet access so I got on yelp and just called the first 5 star place close to my apartment (Eastlake area). He actually arrived in less than 20. Very friendly and easy to talk to even as he's trying to shimmy open your lock. Took maybe 15 minutes and I was back in my room again. My basement door was jammed. The last locksmith I used had a 70% increase in service call charge between this year and last year. That's just ridiculous so I called around for other options. Simon was courteous over the phone, but there's a bit of confusion back and forth about the quote. (Like was the service call charge on top of the estimate or inclusive of the estimate.) But we did get it resolved, the quote was reasonable so I scheduled an appointment for later that same day. Soon after I made my appointment, Frank called to see if he can come earlier since he was nearby. He arrived in a jiffy and got to work on the jammed door. After getting it unstuck, he gave us some advise on how to get it fixed and what would be most reasonable given our circumstances. In a word, Frank rocks.
