My family and I had a great experience at Loda Bier Garten. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Definitely recommend!

Worst service in Mobile! Come here only if you enjoy waiting 1.75 hours for cold food and 30 minutes for a cola. Came here with group. We waited nearly 2 hours for cold, incorrectly done food. What I received wasn't my order. They claimed the big table was being held for a party that isn't here and never was. I don't think this party ever existed. Waiter disappeared and the manager we were supposed to talk to never showed up. Parties after us got served, at left before wet got food. Never ever again. read more

Rolled in around 5pm on a Sunday and, as the sign stated, I seated myself. Sat at table for 11 minutes before any server made contact with me. Music so loud, I wouldn't classify this as a restaurant, but a bar with tables. Ordered the Giant Pretzel as an appetizer, never came. Ordered Pork Schnitzel and after visiting Germany at least 150 times in my life, I would give this dish a 5 out of 10. Server apologized for the missing pretzel and offered to bring after meal. Giant Pretzel was very buttery, but also very hard, I would give this a 5 out of 10. German restaurant in the middle of Mobile, AL is a great idea, however my assessment of this 'Beir Garten' is that this is a very popular bar, serving mediocre German dishes. I would say it would make a great place to grab a beer. They have many taps. Few of them worked when I visited. Ordering a beer was a slow process of elimination. The food is ok. Decent, large burger. They were out of fries too. They have many of those hipster novelty burgers you generally would expect at a Texas state fair. The waitresses were friendly. It smelled like a sour rag and was full of flies. I imagine this is a better late than early option. read more

Told the waiter that I didn't like them because I was expecting nachos with a chili flavor and asked if I could swap them out for something else and he said they don't allow that. We can here from out of town for Mardi Gras, not knowing where to eat and stumbled upon Loda. Had amazing food and the server Tara was absolutely amazing. She was so attentive and made sure everything was perfect! We will definitely be coming back. read more

This place was really cool because it allows doggies, Loda Bier Garten went all out and even had water bowls out for the pooches! The wait staff was so darn nice and attentive they simply could not have done a better job! The hors d'oeuvres (does anyone know how to spell this pesky word without checking? I think not!) were great, fried pickles, shrooms, wings, etc. If you haven't tried a Loda burger yet, you are missing out bad! Great burger and I love the sidewinder fries! Beer you ask? It's sick, they have so many you can't believe it! I'm a non-drinker and I still love this place. Try the Abita Root Beer, best root beer you'll ever have! Very interesting menu, but after trying a variety I stick with the pork schnitzel. It takes me back to Germany which I absolutely love. It is a little hard on the pocketbook so I have to watch my alcohol consumption..... it is a fun spot in Mobile. Beer list is amazing read more

This is a sports bar with a lot of beer options. Not a beer garden. The food I had (fish and chips and pretzel) were mediocre and the service was non existent. If you like sports being blared in your face and fried food try it out but sit at the bar. Otherwise you will never get waited on. read more

Stoped for lunch on our way through Mobile. Not far from the interstate. I had the tuna salad. The wasabi dressing is excellent. The setting was great. Over 100 beers on draft. Wife had a tuna BLT which may have been even better than the salad. Service was good for a downtown weekend lunch. In and out in 35 minutes. I wish this place was closer to home!!! read more

Horrible service. Young man acted like he had no desire to be there or to serve me or anyone else. 10 minutes task but I want to then nothing nice to get our drinks. Waiting 20 minutes he came back and asked if I would you like to order some food. I told him I guess I'll have to order it to go now since he had taken so long to even get a started. We both ordered the same thing chicken strips honey mustard fries with beer cheese. When we finally got back to work we found we had not any beer cheese which is an extra charge if you want a second cup there's an extra fee for using your credit card so if you decide to go there I'll suggest having cash. I love the selection of Bar and pub food here! I started with a Bavarian pretzel that was super delicious. I ordered the Courthouse burger for lunch. It was a juicy burger with bacon, cheese, and a delicious buffalo bleu cheese butter! It was one the best burgers I've ever had! I couldn't leave without trying the Grown Up Ice Cream Sandwich...a scoop of vanilla ice cream between two glazed doughnuts and drizzled with chocolate syrup. My daughter, Son-in-Law and and I were recommended to come here for a specific beer that the first restaurant was out of. Unbeknownst to us a Mardi Gras parade was going on so we chose to eat upstairs to have a few drinks and just a little something to eat without too much crowd. Nikki and Hunter went above and beyond to make us feel so welcome. They let us try samples of just about anything we had questions about as their beer selection is so large. By the end of our visit we almost felt as if we were family and long time friends. This place is a must if you are a beginner beer drinker or an expert. Even if you don't drink you must go just to try the amazing German chocolate cake & service. Everyone who works here was great! We had a great time and enjoyed our waiter so much. He was great to talk to and gave great beer suggestions being that there's close to 200 selections to choose from. We actually had several servers and kitchen staff stop and speak with us and they were eager to see if we needed anything and make sure we were enjoying ourselves. Was visiting Mobile, so I wasn't sure where I'd want to go. Looked for a nearby place as I wasn't keen on going too far in a strange area. Picked here due to the online menu. It was on a Sunday, but the crowd at 8 pm was solid. It's just a bar, with a single row of tables downstairs with some added seating upstairs. We were greeted immediately by the bartender. We were told to seat ourselves, which I am leery of, since in crowds, it's easy to get lost. We weren't despite going upstairs. Service was very good. There are approximately 100 beers on tap and the server offered suggestions and a sample to aid my decision. The crowd trended young. I'm 47 and my wife is 52, and we were old enough to be parents to half the crowd, and were older than I'd say 99.99% of the crowd. That was fine, it doesn't bother me. Had the donut burger which was a bacon cheeseburger served between two cake glazed donuts. Nice crispy crust, not too much sugar. It was delicious, but it's not as good as a regular burger, which there are plenty of on the menu. I had the 5-Cheese mac n cheese, which was completely mediocre. The donuts also feature in the ice cream sandwich desert, which was two donuts with vanilla ice cream and chocolate and caramel drizzle. Overall experience was good, and I'd definitely go again if in Mobile again. Not a fancy place, but I'm used to it, being from New Orleans. read more

Took my Mom here while we were in town for my Dad's surgery. Wonderful beer selection! Waitress was AMAZING and very knowledgeable of the taps!! I am from MI and we have Micro-breweries all over, was surprised Mobile doesn't have even one so this place was a great find! This place has all the beer you can dream of! However the bartender's are so cool they don't even have to bathe, the smell of humanity from their armpits and the accompanying I recently vomited while smoking a joint breath really makes you want to speak with them as little as possible, which by the way is just fine with them because you have no idea how "cool" these guys are. Just order a bud or a Miller lite to feel the true color hospitality ( that's not stink eye they just have to be cautious not to get their blonde dreads caught in the cooler door). The food is bold! Until I tried this place I had never had sashimi chicken wings! Fried crispy on the outside with a cold pink raw chicken center since I advised the suburban Rastafarian bartender I was unaware of this style sushi he gladly yanked them away and slam dunked them in the overflowing trashcan. I asked if it was ok to have the house made pretzel which I only waited 28min for however I smiled and took a bite to my surprise the bartender failed to mention that sand was added to the pretzel batter...what a bold statement by the chef. I was just not cool enough to eat here so I asked for the check which still included the chicken sushi wings . Smiled paid my tab plus 20 %. And thought this w as definitely a once in a lifetime experience for me I guarantee it. read more

The place is very busy and crowded. It kind of has a casual sports bar feel. We sat upstairs which turned out to be kind of noisy and dark. The beer list is great be you even have the option to make your own flight. Each of my friends got some version of a sandwich or burger. There were s few complaints of stale bread or the brioche was too thick. I ordered the nachos without chili (I am a vegetarian) and added diced tomatoes and lettuce which would have been nice shredded. I also ordered the "fried never frozen" shrooms. They were breaded with corn meal which was good but they were very bland so I was disappointed. They served them with an "aioli" which was much more like plain mayo with some green specks. I would recommend making a ranch or onion dressing and cutting it with sour cream instead because the aioli is a failure. The service was great and one of the bartenders came over personally to help my friend edit their cider flight when they did not have what she ordered.
