OMG. I have a home in Suncadia and took 8 people there after a golf outing. Hungry guys. The special was a 'torta' as their signature dish. $19/$29 depending on half or full. WORST and comically bad sanwich ever. Three of us had it.. DON'T. Terrible. Burgers were ok and fish and chips were the best of the bunch. Also, terrible service. The kind when you have to go the bar to get the bill and the place was essentially empty. Then, of course, they add a 20% tip. Bad food, bad service. Nice to have captive customers. The setting is beautiful, the staff were very nice and friendly and helpful. So service I would rate 4-5 stars. But.... The rooms are so worn and gross. Our room had trash in it from previous guests, stains on the bedding, and my feet kept picking up stuff from the carpet. So yucky. I cannot believe the amount they charge for this experience. I've honestly stayed at a cleaner and more comfortable Motel 6! Food is mediocre and super expensive. No fridge in the room for self catering or even cold drinks. I'd always heard how great Suncadia Lodge is but we will not return. Maybe would stay in a nearby Airbnb or similar but wouldn't stay or eat at the lodge again. read more

Worst hyatt experience. For the price of a suite you get a cheap Airbnb experience. The room was not cleaned. No one for three days did nothing. Chat through Hyatt did nothing although they claimed they will. Hyatt sucks and Suncadia is no value for the company. Could not get through the front desk most of the them. Also resident make so you can't use certain roads and some pools that you thought it was a part of the resort. Stay a way rip off. read more

REVIEW IN COVID TIMES This review goes for all those couples and/or families who are wondering how this place works in COVID times. I've always heard good things about SUNCADIA, they're always fully booked (winter break, spring break and summer,) and I can totally see why. The whole place is so beautiful, the forest, the mountains, lots of trails combined with SUNCADIA facilities (golf course, pools, skate rink, etc etc) = perfection. We came in WINTER and got lots of snow. We brought our own sleds and had a blast sliding. We swam in the pool (I'll talk about it later) but most of the time we were outdoors. And here's the thing, we enjoyed our stay here because IT WAS PRETTY EMPTY. In a pandemic you wanna avoid the crowds, right? We stayed from Monday to Wednesday and most of the activities were CLOSED pffff LOL (no skate rink, no water slides, tubing opens on Wed to Sunday) SO... if you wanna enjoy their activities you better stay between Wednesday and Sunday BUT be ready for a crowded weekend (eeeek!) The lodge pool was out of order, their fire pits were flooded (too bad because they have complimentary s'mores kits); however we were able to have fun tubing $20 per person and it was empty just for us. There's no room service in COVID times, but the bar and the restaurant (Portals) are open, no need to make a reservation. Also they have TAKE OUT choice (pretty convenient and safe) For breakfast they also have a coffee shop, in my opinion is too expensive and very limited BUT in COVID times I guess it is the best alternative. They've implemented a series of safety/healthy measures: no cleaning your room unless you request it, no need to touch the phone or tv remote control, everything can be done from your cellphone. And for the indoor pool/fitness center you and your family need to have a reservation. read more

Great room, great service, great views and great food! Loved the whole environment and would differently return.

Bottom Line: the area and resort is nice. The service and hospitality staff are generally terrible and distracting at best. You'll have maximum opportunities to take advantage of the resort fee that you are paying for. Service & Hospitality: generally unhelpful, easily annoyed, and there's a perspective that there's a proverbial "chip" on mostly everyone's shoulders. There are of course exceptions: valet staff, select Nelson Farm workers, etc., but not the rule. If you tamper your expectations and don't think about the amount of money you've spent to stay here... then you'll get to enjoy the surrounding view that this Resort is built on. Lodge/Room: we stayed in a 2-bed room suite and it was generally nice. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. The appliances that were in the room were operable and in good condition. There was no housekeeping during our 4-day stay and to be fair the front desk informed us of the non-service. They did, however, offer to exchange dirty towels and provide additional amenities on request. Although our view was of the resort- it was still great and breathtaking. Food: there is no room service at the lodge. However, you can place an order for pickup at the in-house restaurant (Portals). We ate at the actual restaurant for dinner and breakfast and both times were underwhelming. Food was either bland (dinner) or very salty (breakfast). The service here was great and the wait staff was very attentive. You cant beat the view either and the price of plates cost from a range of $15-50. For a family of 4- expect to pay about $160-225 with drinks (cocktails/wine). Won't complain about the price since it is a "resort." Swimming Pool: the outdoor pools are open but the indoor pool is closed for construction. Although relatively cold for May, the outdoor pool was heated to accommodate for the chilly weather. It was relatively large and people went in and out regularly to keep the headcount at a comfortable level. The outdoor pool also had a concession stand so that people can grab lunch. Plenty of places to sit and lawn chairs are available. Resort Fee Activities: we took advantage of Nelson Farm activities, shuttles, s'more night, face paintings, and lawn games. Activities were well spread across and accommodating. The face painting line for the kids were relatively long (15-20 min) but compared to Disney lines... goes by fast. Overall: probably will not come back. While the view and resort feel... was remarkable... the hospitality and service unfortunately left a bad taste in my mouth. I would recommend this place to only those that had some cash to throw around and were looking for a "glamping" feel but would tell them to highly temper their expectations of getting assistance while at the resort. Essentially- if one grew up in New England, Philadelphia, or New York City- the hospitality is about the same.... Maybe worse here on certain days so choose wisely. read more

Although it was a short trip for my wife and I, we enjoyed our stay. We ate at their restaurant and had one of our best experiences with the staff. Our waitress was above and beyond in service and explaining their trend of buying locally. Even going to the back two times to ask specific questions about their coffee beans and dessert. We ordered the arugula salad with salmon and the chefs choice pasta. For dessert we ordered their carrot cake and lavender ice cream. Both were created in house and exceeded all expectations! Views, trails, outdoor pool, room and that's only in the one spot on property we stayed at. We ended our trip with the spa right next door. Wow is all we have to say. The customer service there was phenomenal. We ended up getting a couples massage and words can't describe what that experience felt like. The attention to detail was very professional and we felt so welcomed. Overall this is our new sanctuary away from the city. We will absolutely be back. There's even houses in which our whole family of 9 are able to stay. Family vacations or romantic get aways. read more

Lodge at Suncadia - Drinks and a beautiful view for our dinner - Hotels Near Me - Cle Elum, Washington

To set the scene - I booked a 2 night stay in February 2021 to celebrate my husbands 30th birthday. We are generally not the kind of people who book expensive hotels - so this was a splurge for us. I was confident that the investment would prove worthy - but unfortunately, I was shown time and time again that Suncadia is woefully overrated. CHECK IN PROCEDURE First of all - I called TWICE prior to my booking to confirm that check in was at 4 - because we were driving from quite a ways away - and I didn't want to be left in the cold (literally and figuratively). Both times, I was assured that we could check in at 4. One representative even said they'd even write down that I requested early check in. "Great", I thought! So, on the day of our check in, we arrived promptly at 4 - but were told by the front desk that "check in starts at 4 and goes till 5 and later". I was shocked and annoyed. We drive nearly 2 hours to arrive on time - so that we could make the most of our $620 2 nights (you read that right - $620 for 2 nights). Unfortunately, we then proceeded to wait 40 minutes, in our freezing cold car until we could check in and bring out bags inside. Not a great start. Once we finally got the call that our room was ready - 40 after 4pm - we pulled back up to reception and asked for a cart. I was met with a stern, and unfriendly "we don't give out carts - we can bring one to you and take your things up for you - but we don't do that". So in reality, they force you to use one of they're employees to bring up your bags so that you're indebted to tipping them. "No thanks", we said - and we shlepped our food and bags up to the room without carts (okay, again - not ideal). THE ROOM When we got to the room, we were reasonably pleased, but somewhat disappointed that our room did not feature a fireplace - as specified in the booking photos. Moreover, the duvet was dirty and ripped, and the kettle on the stove was still full of someone else's water. While the decor was dated, the room was otherwise clean and tidy. Fine. Unfortunately, we soon found out that dog friendly hotels are not great for folks without dogs (or those with a fear of dogs). We proceeded to listen to LOUD barking in and off for our entire stay - and he was clear that staff had no concern for the way others pets infringed upon our enjoyment of our stay. It's unclear to me why dogs are apparently allowed on all floors - it would seem more practical to have only certain floors that are pet friendly so that other guests are not disturbed. Another big "miss" for Suncadia, there. HOUSEKEEPING After our first night, I was hopeful that housekeeping might drop off more coffee (they only left us 2 caffeinated K cups for a 2 night stay), but was disappointed there as well. I guess I'll give them a "pass" for that, because the lack of housekeeping could be Covid related - and that's fine. I just wish I knew to pack my own coffee. The booking said that coffee was included, so I had assumed there would be enough for the length of our stay... nope. "AMENITIES" Regarding the pool/hot tub situation - both are open, but not being monitored whatsoever for Covid regulations. The hot tub is rather small, every time we checked, it was packed with 6-8 people - meaning that they were not nearly 6ft apart! That was a no-go for us - again, unfortunate. I would rather have reservations, and KNOW that a limited capacity spot is available - rather than checking many times - and seeing the same non-covid friendly situation each time. One thing that future prospective guests should also note - nearly ALL of the "amenities" cost money. With the exception of the lodge pool, and the resort fitness center - everything comes with an added expense. We found the pricing to be astronomically high - especially considering the price required to stay on property m - you'd think that more of the "amenities" would come included - or at least for less than $20/person... OVERALL I'm sad to say that our stay felt like a MASSIVE waste of a 2hr drive, and $620 price tag for 2 nights... from the extremely dissatisfactory check in experience, to the dogs, pool, and added fees for "amenities" - I'll stay at a freakin' Best Western next time and save hundreds. Love love love!! Baci and I loved our recent stay here. Stunning views! Clean room. Great hikes/ stairs and so much to explore. The lobby is quite pretty and empty. Parking is plenty/ self park or valet. The rooms are somewhat spacious. I love the views. And the stars are super bright at night since you are in the middle of nowhere. Not much to do here except to hike, walk, realx! Golf course is gorgeous! The pools are well maintained and by reservations only ( covid measures). Restaurants are open but limited hours. There's a bar in the lobby! Or the Swift water cellar on the property ( a short 4 minutes drive or with free shuttle). Pros: all the nature/ views! Clean rooms. Cons' elevator traffic, hard to reach staff/get help/ bell desk etc. But overall, its such a stunning place you wont mind the minor issues. And we had a kitchen/plates/ utensils/ dishwasher and all in the room. We didn't come prepare to cook but if we did, this would be a place for it. Some of the glasses and plates are a little dirty in our room but nothing a little wash cant fix. It is pretty hard to reach housekeeping for most things. Texting is easier if you have hyatt concierge help. Overall, beautiful place!! And we love how dog friendly they are. $75 per stay per pet. Worth it! read more

It is beautiful here. Perfect for families and kids. We took our dog and stayed in a pet friendly room. Well sadly our dog found candy (chocolate ) not once, not twice but four times! The room was not cleaned very well. A empty water bottle was visible on the floor between the tv cabinet and desk. Dust bunnies everywhere and smashed bugs on the wall (see picture). Another bummer but we totally understand, dogs aren't allowed in the restaurant. But staff was wonderful and we sat outside with our dog. The food was excellent for all 3 meals we ate on the property. We will be back without our pet and hopefully get a cleaner room. read more

We have been coming to Suncadia for several years now, and are SO happy to hear that the Lodge is receiving an extensive facelift. The brand new lobby area, restaurant and bar are phenomenal, and we were told the rooms are all being remodeled in 2025. They definitely need it! For the most part, the staff is great. Sure, there are some employees who don't look particularly happy to be working there, but that's not so unusual in the hospitality business. The new lobby restaurant, The Source, is great! Very good variety and pretty reasonable prices. Very creative and tasty cocktails. All in all, the resort is beautiful and definitely worth a visit. read more

I was very much looking forward to the first post-pandemic visit. I brought my dog on this trip to celebrate his one-year adoption anniversary. After driving 1.5 hours we arrive to the Lodge at 3:45pm. They told me that the room wasn't ready and they'll call me when it's ready. I didn't think anything of it since check-in is at 4pm and I was a bit early. 4:30 rolls around and I check back, they said it's not ready and it'll likely be 5:15 due to housekeeping delay. They said check-in is supposed to be in the 4:00-6:00PM time frame. Nothing in their email communication indicated that info, because had I gotten that in advance, I wouldn't have left my place so early. I check back again at 5:15, and they said it'll probably within the hour. It's our first outing and there were a lot of people in the lobby waiting for check-in as well. My dog was starting to shake from all the stimulation. It was too hot to have him be outside. Finally, at 6:00PM (after 2 hours) I got a text saying the room is ready. I get into the room and found chip crumbs on the floor and a plastic knife by the desk. Next day, I also found some plastic rings (like toys?) that fell behind the credenza (see picture). So the the extended time for cleaning still resulted all the trash in the room. I was so tired at that point, that I decided to do room service. The line rang unanswered. I call the restaurant direct number and was told in-room dining is not available which would help if they had a recording. I asked about dog treats since the website indicated complimentary treats for fido, and the front desk said they don't have that. The extra pet fee is for cleaning (again, I find that term highly ironic). I bought a soda from their cafe, looked at my receipt today and saw they charged me for two. I feel like I'm cursed on with the hotel's service. The upside is that I did get a $100 credit towards dining. I checked two times to make sure it's there as I'm concerned I would be charged. The other nice thing is the surroundings. Really serene, scenic, and great walking trails. All in all, I don't think the place is worth the amount given the condition of the room and poor management/operations. This is a Hyatt hotel and touts itself as a luxury resort when it doesn't feel that way. I won't be returning. read more

**TRAVELING DURING COVID-19** PLEASE BE SAFE, PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING, & WEAR MASKS IN PUBLIC SPACES. This was during our stay over the summer. We stayed in the one bedroom suite @ the lodge. If you're trying to get a hold of anyone at this resort, GOOD LUCK because they are way too busy and way understaffed to be operating in that kind of capacity especially during a pandemic. They are also owned by Hyatt now so business per usual. Money over safety. We wanted to know what their Covid safety precautions were and what steps they were taking to keep their patrons as well as their staff safe. Apparently, it's nothing. Just wear your mask and sanitize your hands. *eye roll* We had stayed at another resort on San Juan islands and they took covid precautions seriously and went above and beyond. They kept their rooms clear for 24hours in between each check in. Blasted the AC so that the air could be cycled out. Wiped down / cleaned / sanitized everything. At Suncadia? Probably nothing other than a quick clean between check ins. No late check outs b/c they are booked out aka NO WAIT TIMES between guests. OK -__- Their rooms are NOT clean. Surfaces are not detailed. We are clean freaks so of course we packed our own cleaning supplies and wiped down ALL surfaces b/c kids touch EVERYTHING. It was dusty in that room. Views were great, but room was not clean. Also, good luck trying to social distance while trying to get back to your room. There's only ONE ELEVATOR and there's always people waiting aka tons of people traffic. No access to the stairs unless its to go down. Sigh We packed all of our food to cook in the room because we wanted to stay away from crowds b/c hello we're still in a pandemic, folks! Pro tip: pack your own cookware and please wash their dishes etc before you use them. Just sayin! The views can't be beat, but it's insanely windy at Suncadia. Is this normal? This was our first time there and winds were insane. BRRRR The pool at the lodge is first come first serve and the amount of people allowed in is restricted. Our balcony is overlooking the pool and I must say, it's quite a bit of people in there for their limited capacity rule. Pool opens from 10a-5pm. For the other pools - reservations are required, about 24 hours in advance, I think, and only for a limit of 2 hours per reservation. The Nelson farm pool they close down the pool and do a cleaning between each reservation group, so that's super nice. The shower facilities are nice as well. At the other pool - I'm not sure if they do cleanings between groups since we did a night reservation at 7pm and that may have been the last reservation for the day. It's windy and cold so I didn't enjoy the pool as much. Overall, I would probably not return to SUncadia. No amount of beautiful views will ever replace customer service, safety or cleanliness. And if its always windy there regardless of the season, then nope, sorry not sorry I will not be returning. All of these other 5 star reviews that I see are quite mind-blowing to say the least. read more

We had been to Suncadia twice before in the winter, but our summer experience was beyond amazing. We ended up enjoying the resort so much that we extended our stay for 2 more days and we were lucky enough to be able to keep our original room as well. Activities 1. The swimming pools are open for use BY RESERVATION ONLY. You can make reservations online 48 hrs before your check-in day. They also take breaks throughout the day to sanitize and clean the pools thoroughly before the next batch is allowed in. 2. If you want to swim and enjoy the cold, refreshing water of Cle Elum Lake, you can walk down the 1000 steps and reach the "Riverfront Park" where you can enjoy the sun, have a picnic, or swim! 3. There are MANY trails and loops around the Suncadia property to hike and bike. Bike rentals are available at the Pavillon for $10/hour. 4. You can also rent kayaks, stand-up paddle boards and other equipment at the Pavillon. 5. Horse riding is another option but we didn't end up having time for it. Food 1. There are several restaurants on the Suncadia property, and if you are willing to leave your parking spot, you can find some great eats outside of Suncadia, near Cle Elum and Roslyn. 2. We ate at Swift-water wine cellars last time we were here and the food was good, live jazz music added a nice touch to the festive season of December. They are very popular so advance reservations are highly recommended. 3. This time we ate at the Portals restaurant on the main floor of the Lodge. The food was DELICIOUS and the service was AWESOME. They offer take-out options, in-room dining, and dining in at the restaurant/outside seating at a limited capacity. Again, reservations are recommended!! I liked Portals more than Swift-water cellar because their food was more refreshing. Swift-water is delicious as well, but all of their menu items are super indulgent and "rich" tasting whereas Portals offers more balanced dishes. 4. The coffee shop on the main floor has a great variety of espresso drinks to choose from, as well as other items like chai latte, hot cocoa, and some baked goods depending on when you go. Although our drinks tasted good, $5.27 is a bit pricey for a 8 oz latte in my opinion! I also wish they were open for longer, they open at 6:30 am and close by 12:30-1 pm. Other notes 1. The service overall is spectacular. From the front desk to the hostess at Portals restaurant, everyone is super sweet and helpful and genuinely want to ensure that you have a great experience at Suncadia. 2. I'm sure there's more to do during the winter season too, but I would recommend going during summer break (as explained above) 3. I wish they would install water filters/gallons/vending machines around the lodge because it was 90 degrees almost everyday and it was hard to find cold, drinkable water since the coffee shop closed early and the restaurants also took cleaning breaks between operation times. 3. Masks are REQUIRED to enter the property and must stay on at all times. There are posters everywhere reinforcing that as well. All the staff members were wearing gloves and masks and I don't recall a moment where I saw someone without a mask! Thank you for such a great experience, we will certainly be back! read more

What a disappointment this hotel has become. I've stayed here years ago and had a good experience. Now it's like staying in a three star hotel off the freeway. If you are looking for a luxury experience this is 100% NOT it. The staff is mediocre and helps you as little as possible. The hotel is being remodeled and the way they have things set up for the guests is highly inconvenient. We had to go outside to a food truck to get our coffee in the morning, it was about 30 degrees and snow. We tried to get help from the valet and couldn't find him. Even after the hotel texted him he stayed off to a corner talking to a buddy and drinking a Red Bull. I will never stay at this lodge again or at any suncadia property. Go stay at a Hilton close by. read more

PLEASE READ this is a very fair and honest review. Beautiful setting. Facilities are very nice but poorly maintainted. Good size rooms/suites. Friendly staff. Lot's of fun activities for the kids. It's clear that whoever coordinates the activities takes their job very seriously. The heated outdoor pool was magical in the cold mountain weather. Things that were broken: the in room dryer (a real pain when you have kiddos with wet snow clothes). The sauna at the exercise facility. One of the slides at the exercise facility. One of the outdoor spas at the exercise facility--this wasn't marked so there is a nasty surprise when you walk in in 12 degrees lol. The carpet was stained--looked like something a good cleaning would have taken care of. Looks like the carpets haven't been cleaned in a very long time. Also, it seems like this place is incredibly understaffed. Here's what I mean: 1. When you try to call the front desk, the phone just rings and rings. No one picks up. Took about 10 calls to finally reach the front desk. 2. I asked for towels several times that were never brought. I understand limited housekeeping due to COVID, but you just can't run a hotel without plenty of linens available for guests. 3. It took several requests to get 2 extra blankets and pillows. When they finally came (3 hours after requested) we were all asleep. They rang the doorbell until we all woke up and collected ONE additional blanket when we had requested two. This was at almost 11pm after making a request at about 7pm. 4. One night, we went to check our car out of the valet. When the attendant left, a shuttle pulled up and we realized that we could simply ride the shuttle to the restaurant. We told the other attendant that we were going to take the shuttle and to please leave our car in the valet parking. When we got back from dinner, we discovered that our car had been left out in front of the hotel, running, for almost 3 hours. Tayvon, the bellhop, was the best part of our customer service experience. He did an excellent job and was very friendly. I'm sure there are plenty of reasons for all of the above. However, this room was over $500/night after taxes/fees. One or even two of the above issues is easily overlooked. This is billed as a world class destination resort. I don't write reviews very often--usually only when things are especially good or especially poor. These issues should be corrected or the prices need to come down. read more

The lodge is nice although a little maintenance could go a long way. Siding pieces missing of the side of the lodge, in our room, a 1-bedroom although nicely aquatinted, needed some upkeep. The carpet is loose and Hilly and desperately is calling for a carpet stretching in 4062. It would literally be a trip hazard for an elderly guest. The dining table is loose and wobbles. On the upside, a full kitchen with frig and freezer is very nice. the toilet leaks so it keeps sporadically filling 24/7. We were told no maid service, yet when we returned to our room, it had been serviced which was a nice surprise. The front desk people were adequate, no one seemed to happy to be working there. The bed was comfortable. Overall is was a relaxing stay but the lodge needs to upkeep. read more

I asked for an early checkin of 3pm. We arrived at 2 and they said the room wasn't ready but I could complete the paperwork and they'd text when it was ready. We hung out in Roslyn while waiting, so it wasn't horrible, but I didn't receive a text. We finally returned around 5pm and were able to go to the room. After setting up in the room we received the text saying it was ready. We found a stain on one of the bed comforters, a baby bottle full of milk under one of the beds, the soap dish in the bathroom had soapy water in it under the new bar of soap (as if it hadn't been cleaned before we arrived), and the toilet bowl was dirty. We were also surprised that the room didn't have a dorm fridge. I understand it's not a living suite, but most hotels I stay in have a small fridge you can use for leftovers, snacks, or beverages. All that aside, the grounds, breadth of activities, room views, multiple pools, and dining choices made it an excellent stay. And the staff were 100% friendly and helpful. read more

If I could, I would rate the Lodge at Suncadia as 3 1/2 stars I stayed here for one night as part of a company off-site meeting since it was relatively close to our office, but far enough away for a getaway. The meeting room had all of the electronic features that we needed, and the food was decent. The room was nicely furnished, in a country modern kind of way. If you can, try to walk down the huge set of stairs at the back of the lodge, down to the river. I have to admit that I am a little afraid of heights, so it was not easy going all the way down. You do get a nice view of the water for your efforts, though. read more

I stayed here as part of a company off-site, and I have to say that I really enjoyed my time! The management and staff really went out of the way to provide excellent service and great activities. For instance, they had planned an Amazing Race style scavenger hunt for us, sending us around the property to find different clues and accomplish different tasks. They also set up some fun games for us like ping pong, billiards, and beer pong. Their service and catering was also very good. There wasn't that much variety each meal, but day-to-day, the meals did change quite a bit. The facilities are also pretty high quality. Though, I do have to say my living room did have a bunch of ants and bugs crawling around. It was a little nasty, but it could just be because the sliding door opens up directly to the outside. Speaking of which, the outside facing the river is absolutely gorgeous. The 1000 steps leads right to a river at the bottom of a beautiful valley -- it's an amazing sight to wake up to. Overall, I can't speak about price because the company paid for it, though things did not look cheap. The service was always extremely friendly and informative, and they definitely took great care of their guests! read more

Great location and views. Probably the worst run place I have ever been. Horrible customer service. We simply wanted a ride to the restaurant/winery on site and it took 40+ minutes. When I asked the front desk when the shuttle would be around (which upon checkin they said "just runs around the property all the time") I was told that I needed to request a ride. This is my second time here and the experience was the same. It appears it makes no difference how nice you are to people, the level of incompetence never changes. Someone, somewhere, please find another spot to do this well at or for the sake of the continued success of this property, get it together. A quick addition. I'm really sad about writing this review. I've been coming here for almost 10 years and it has always been one of my favorite places to stay. Unfortunately the Suncadia of long ago is not the same. It used to be a four seasons hotel and has now changed to a Hyatt property. The service has definitely changed and so has the clientele. The pool went from a nice relaxing experience, looking at the beautiful scenery and enjoying nature, to garbage left everywhere, white claws, cowboy hats, Bluetooth speakers blaring Kid Rock and trump beach towels. Now there is nothing wrong with any of these things, just not the experience I would expect while staying at Suncadia. I would like to think this was a one-off but unfortunately witnessed many more similar events. read more

Just returned from a trip there and we have pretty meh feelings. Around the holidays they have a 4-night minimum stay which was way too long, so that was ick. There's lots to do if you're under 10 or over 21 but not much for in-between. Either way, beware - for the activities that are available, everything comes with a price. They advertised sleigh rides. It costs extra. They advertised ice-skating. It costs extra. Inner tubing etc. The room was comfy but cramped, Which was super disappointing because we'd upgraded to what we thought was a larger room. Bed was very comfy, I slept great. Housekeeping did a fair job, beds weren't well-made, towels were flung over the shower bar, pieces of garbage were on the floor. The food in the restaurants (Portals and Gas Lamp) were good but holy crap meals were expensive. And we had a few unfortunate dining experiences including finding a long hair baked into the breakfast buffet eggs and finding a bug in my water glass more than once. Bartenders are great and the many sitting areas are comfy. But our whole family was disappointed. read more

Staff was very friendly but this place needs to be cleaned up... there was garbage all over the ground and they closed the only access stairs to the river. The fitness center and pool was a huge disappointment. The outdoor pool was freezing and someone told me the boiler was broken so that's why... I had to have someone else tell me this and not any staff member. 56 degree spaghetti was ok, a little over priced. Overall staff was very nice and that's why I give it 2 stars. Horrified by the dumbest process they have established. First we were told that we can only book the outdoor activities 48 hours prior by using a link on an email that will be sent out 2 days before arrival. That email never arrived. Not in junk mail, nowhere. I called to complaint and received a text message that include a link. My wife and I stayed at Suncadia Lodge on 4-6 October, and as a frequent traveler and repeat guest at Suncadia, we were extremely disappointed in our stay. First, the cleanliness of the property was severely lacking, especially considering that we are still in a pandemic. In our room, we found a dirty Q-tip, the Keurig coffee maker was filthy, and a spill on the coffee table had not been cleaned up. The carpets throughout the property had not been vacuumed recently and the elevators were dirty. We didn't receive room cleaning during our stay, nor were we informed that it would not be provided. The maintenance of the property was far from what I recall from my last visit. The hot tub was not operational, and again we were not informed at check-in nor compensated; the $33/night resort fee included this as an amenity that we had planned to use. The draft beer system in the bar was not working, only one fire pit on the property was operating (not the one overlooking the river view), and throughout the property, the furniture, doors, walls, and baseboards were scuffed and damaged. It was clear to me that the property is not adequately maintained to the standards of other Hyatt properties or from my past stay at the Lodge. Finally, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff was very poor, with the exception of the valet and the Portals and 56 Degrees staff. We received no welcome at check-in, especially as a Hyatt elite member. The front desk staff provided no description of elite benefits or room upgrades, no description of hotel amenities (we had to inquire specifically about ice and the s'mores package, which were only available upon request at the front desk), and not even directions to the elevators. Our initial room assignment was an accessible room, which did not have a bathtub; we had to request a change and were assigned a room whose view was blocked by a building roof. Finally, upon checkout, we were not even asked how our stay was. Overall, the front desk staff demonstrated no interest in serving and retaining customers. As a result, we have cancelled plans to stay at Suncadia later this year and in the future, and I will avoid future stays at Destination Hotels unless I am made confident that the service is commensurate with the brand and my travel expenditures. read more

What a neat find! We were looking for a nice, relaxing resort in the woods and were so pleased when we landed at Suncadia. This place has everything you need to enjoy a few days, or longer, in the woods. The accommodations were quite nice and the staff are plenty friendly. We took advantage of the many on-site activities, including: - Free s'mores every night from 7-9. - Hiking down 1,000 steps to and around the beautiful Cle Elum River. - Horseback riding through the local forest (this costs extra). - Amazing aquatics center with indoor and outdoor pools, as well as two water park quality slides! - Played cornhole on the lawn next to the pool - and lost! - Saw plenty of wild life when hiking on the miles and miles of trails. Our room had a fireplace and full kitchen, which made it nice to be able eat some meals in our room - there is a Safeway in town about 4 miles away. Only one negative was that we had a hard time getting things (toilet paper, Kleenex) refilled or delivered to the room. We found it best just to ask at the front desk and wait for it there. Nice lodge with spacious rooms. Get a Mountain View if possible. The bar area, grand room and common area are very festive around Christmas. People are friendly. Rooms are slightly worn and lighting isn't great in bathroom. We had a 1 bedroom suite with kitchen and washer/dryer. Had a few mishaps with washer/dryer but otherwise great stay. My second time staying here. I stayed about 4.5 years ago before my son was born and it was amazing. Now its ok. I stayed here with my folks and my better half and my son. Two separate rooms. Both one bed room suites with kitchens. In both rooms the dishes were dirty. My parents dishwasher kept breaking and having to have the circuit breaker flipped to reset it. Their oven was filthy. My parents couch and end table both had duct tape on the cushions. Their door trim around the entry door was split and paint peeling. Our room again dirty dishes. Our dish washer had broken glass in it. A melted drink cap. And the prior user had run a cup full of tobacco chew packets in the appliance. The microwave handle was broken off. Our carpet had multiple stains. The staff has been really nice and responsive. The dinning options during covid are not ideal. Take out or bring your own food. The views are killer. The basic property is great to walk around on. I think the property is trying to follow covid restrictions as best they can. However for me to want to come back for this "luxury" price point. The lodge needs to be updated and consistent in its cleaning. read more

To say I was disappointed after our visit here would be an understatement. With as much as they charge to stay, one would think the walls wouldn't be paper thin so we could hear every discussion our neighbors would have, they'd not run out of blankets each of the nights and the beds wouldn't feel like one was sleeping on a lumpy floor. If I wanted a similar stay anywhere else I'd stay at the Econolodge on Hosmer in Tacoma. Extremely disappointing and an unpleasant visit. It's too expensive to ever give it a second chance, which is a bummer because its potential to be an amazing place. read more

NOT with the $$$ - dirty, run down and understaffed! We were so excited to stay at the lodge. We've rented houses before but never stayed at the lodge. It was the worst service I have ever experienced at a high end Hyatt hotel. First they say check in is at 4 - but then when the room isn't ready at 4 they tell you we'll check in is between 4-5:30 ! We didn't get our room until 6 - I had to call twice and finally just went down to get our luggage 30 minutes later. No one even answers the phone at the front desk - I was on hold forever every time I called! We had pool reservations, which were very hard to come by, and our kids got to spend a whopping 20 minutes at the pool because of the room and luggage debacle and they offered no other time to make up for that. They had 2 people checking valet and bags - 2 - on a night that they were booked at 100%! While waiting for our room - there was no seating indoors due to COVID - they told us we could sit by the fire outside - except no one lit the fires! When we did get our room - it was a huge disappointment - it was dirty - the bathroom clearly hadn't been cleaned very well as someone else's hair clips were still hanging in the bathroom. The hot water never did work our entire stay. They supplied us with 1 roll of toilet paper for 2 nights and four people (and yes you can ask for more if you want to sit on hold and wait hours for it to be delivered). The fireplace facia was falling off and the bricks were stacked on the edge. There was no bedding for the hide a bed - yet we clearly checked in with 4 to our room. We got sheets after 2 calls but they put us on a 'wait list' for a blanket - we never got that blanket until the next evening! They have all these COVID rules about social distancing - except apparently they are exempt from the occupancy limits so they are 100 percent booked - and there was no social distancing. So while they are 100 booked - they are woefully understaffed - this clearly is a management issue and I felt bad for the employees. We paid nearly $500/night for our two night stay - for a dirty, run down lodge that was woefully understaffed and not able to provide any of the promised experience. It's too bad because the winery is awesome, the fitness facility pool and golf course in the summer are great - the lodge needs upgrading in both amenities and management ! read more

ROOMS NEED UPDATING. For $300+ a night sleeping on a sinking broken mattress is unacceptable. Worst night of sleep I've ever had. Bathroom was covered in a sticky substance splattered all over the wall. Absolutely disgusting. Furniture was beaten up and scratched. Get it together !! read more

This place has seen better days. Suncadia has only one thing going for it--the location, which is picturesque. Had a good time because we didn't focus on the deficiencies. Stayed two nights at the Inn (a smaller version of the Lodge), and the first room was dirty, had torn drapes, and broken cabinet door. Got a $50 credit for the inconvenience. The second room was the same, only less obvious. Torn curtain again and bathroom door kept sliding open. Dust everywhere--on the Keurig, the mantel, baseboards, and the carpet hadn't been cleaned. We tried to get cleaning over on the next day, but the schedule didn't work. Nonetheless, Holiday Inn is cleaner and better maintained. Not much attention to details like bubble soap for the bathtub. Coffee mugs were oversized for the capacity of the Keurig so I was always guessing how much water to use. No USB charging. No hotel directory--to connect with guest services or restaurant, I was having to call the front desk and they would transfer me, which was inconvenient. They were very helpful, and responsive to texts however. Because of COVID, only one restaurant was open and we could only receive in-room dining service; however they had a limited menu (7 breakfast items) and didn't advertise that they charged $5 for delivery (you'd think they would waive that considering the circumstances). Plus to find out their menu, I had to navigate their online site (not friendly). No printed directory or menu in the room, no taking breakfast orders until the next morning. Coffee was crap; they forgot the toast. Mushroom omelet wasn't bad though. No food tray, we had to eat on the bed and spilled everywhere until we got towels down. McMenamins by comparison has it nailed for in-room dining service. Next, the entertainment. Since most places were closed, we stayed in the room or walked around and looked at the scenery. Nice architecture, mountains trees and streams. Wineshop not open. TV was out of date--most of the menu items were useless or missing. $20 PPV movies and $10 for music doesn't cut it. There were NO streaming services (Youtube, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon), which is like living in the 80's for hotel service. I would definitely reconsider going again. I was here with a group approaching 200 people. Suncadia tried pretty hard to make it a smooth event and does have some good large group spaces. Banquet dinner food was better than average. Our bar bill that night alone was about $120 per head though so that seemed extreme. Rooms were nice. Breakfast was a choke point. Not enough restaurant capacity in the lodge. Sure wish I had a better review but our experience is similar to the many others I have read. We spent two nights at the Suncadia Lodge this past weekend. The lodge and surrounding area were beautiful. Where they fall short is cleanliness and attention to detail. The minute I walked in the room I noticed deep scratches on the floor (most likely from pets). Our wooden coffee table had large crack running all the way through it. We had a nice stainless steel microwave mounted in the cabinets but it didn't work. They set a second off the self microwave on the counter to use. The bathtub had black mildew under the caulking all around the tub. The bathtub did not drain. At the end of your shower you are standing in a tub of water. After the first night we stopped at the front desk to see if someone could check the shower drain. She was very pleasant and said she would try to get an engineer to come by. That didn't happen. We paid just over $600 for the two nights. We enjoyed the surrounding area but were disappointed by the lodge. Sure hope they can get their act together... it has the potential to be fabulous!! read more

Came with the family & kiddos during the covid period and hoping some of our pros & cons may be useful for others. Recos - for a family with toddlers, make sure to rent a larger room. We grabbed a deal on one of the 2 bedrooms. Bring your own food, snacks & plenty of bottled water as food & beverage amenities are minimal at this current time. Also bring plenty of bug repellent as you're in the mountains & likely wi be spending plenty of time outside. Pros - Excellent service, clean rooms, & insane views with plenty of space for kids to run around & play in a socially distant manner. Bike rentals & boats are great options as well. Pool options are great for the fam. WiFi is great as well during those times you need to enable remote learning & logging into work. The outdoor activity options are epic and spacious and you can honestly unplug as a family. Cons - Mold on the dishes, coffee cup & pots. I had to run a bunch of dishes thru the dishwasher before I could use. This was inconvenient as I expected everything to have been freshly washed (& I was in a hurry to cook). The pots & pans were also too small for family meals. If you're not planning to cook much, this may not be a big deal. Given there were not much food options on site, the kitchen stuff was important to us. The outdoor pool water was absolutely freezing and nearly all families opted for the indoor pool just because the other pool temperature wasn't tolerable. We would totally come back as we had a great time overall. Just would be prepped a tiny bit better in the future now that we know what to expect during this covid period. read more

Not sure how to even explain this . Worst customer service ever. EVER. I don't think I have spoken to one friendly person . We had a room booked in March but with COVID we canceled. The original lady said I couldn't get my money back but could put it on hold and use in future. Just booked for this upcoming Thursday with a very rude lady that explained "ugh she shouldn't have even done that for you ". That shoulda been my red flag. Didn't find out till today (2 days before) that we need reservations for all the winery/food. Which surprise surprise it's full but I can't cancel our stay because it needs to be 7 days. It's our 10 year anniversary and we'll be spending the night in a room with 2 beds because apparently it's over 100 more to stay in a room with 1 bed?! This is garbage. We have visited multiple times before but this forced visit will be the last . Oh! And all the spa services are the same amount of money but shorter with no showers or hot tubs. Don't bother . This place is not romantic It's over priced. People are RUDE and just.. NO. read more
