A no frills, clean room with the standard amenities. The staff are just-enough friendly without the typical hospitality over-load I get at the chain hotels. I had an issue with Expedia and they were very understanding and accommodating to fix it on their side - and make sure I still had a room. (Probably my last hotel booked in Expedia - but that's for another review) My two "not happy abouts" here are 1) the old school, metal-key-in-the-knob for a room key that has probably been copied over and over again - not a Safe or comforting feeling. And 2) no coffee (or breakfast) ready when I was leaving at 6am on Sunday. If the lobby is open 24x7, I expected the coffee would be too. I'll come back again. read more

Filthy, black mold, ceiling peeling off in shower, beer can and used pepperoni wrapper behind nightstand, gobs of dog hair, stained mattress, old pillows that are like dead weights (office told me that owners haven't changed them out for years!), tattered towels and ancient, would not give me a different room for the second night, everything is dirty, broken stuff all around outside, heater unit bangs and office said they all do that! Let's start on the steps..horrible to step on as they were full of debris and uneven. Then the bed, mattress a little thicker than a cot mattress and a slab of concrete. Pillows were concrete also. Place is dirty, not well cleaned rooms. Some of the staff is rude beyond words. I had to bring down and replace my filthy/moldy shower curtain myself, after repeatedly mentioning and sending pictures to one of the receptionists and they still had the nerve to charge full price. I get it, times are tough right now and they are having trouble finding staff but that doesn't make it right. Regardless of the price of the rooms should be clean and the staff more responsive. The night receptionist was nice, but the morning girl was not, she couldn't care less about any of our concerns. The halls smelled bad, the room smelled bad, and was dirty- we had a sliding glass door that had a broken lock so we asked the evening staff for a stick. Dust and grime on everything. Water in the room was only hot.... No cold. If we weren't so tired we would have left... plus we would have been charged for the room. The bed was the stained and was the most uncomfortable bed we have ever been on, the box springs were broken and the mattress was completely compressed from over use. Broken furniture on the outside. We had our dog with us, so maybe the non pet rooms would be better? We will NEVER stay there again.... would rather sleep in the car. read more

Honestly I would not even give one star but you have to post a review! We stayed there 1 night in December, the parking lot had debris everywhere, the stairs had not been swept in a very long time, the ac units leaked outside the units, the carpet had not been vacuumed and the room was still dirty with sticky rings on the nightstand and dusty furniture! Thread bare towels and to top it off there was NO hot water we couldn't even shower! Breakfast was Quaker instant oatmeal and the coffee pot didn't work. No inroom coffee. The bed was hard and I almost left within minutes of arriving. Don't waste your money here. read more

This is the best budget motel in Cle Elum. It's a nice family-friendly facility in a great location. Our two-queen room was huge, and more like a suite with a sitting area by the TV. Bathroom was large and very clean. Front desk folks were friendly, and breakfast was continental and a good start to the day. WIFI worked just fine. Traffic noise was not as bad as the previous yammering yelper stated. That said, if you don't travel with ear plugs--or drive a few blocks to the grocery store to get some--you absolutely deserve a lousy night's sleep at ANY hotel/motel you stay. This place is really bad in terms of cleanliness and safety. The staff were all really friendly and helpful but holy smokes!! To start, our room had stains on on the carpet, the bed spread had huge tears in it. The mattress was comfortable. The smoke detector was gone and only wires were hanging down. The locks to the doors were not fixed, instead they put the slide over and push down kind. Our sliding door had no screen, it was off and thrown in the bushes. The dog area was overgrown with weeds as well as the non existent grass anywhere else on the property. The lobby sitting area was filled with furniture, and there were large piles of furniture along the building covered with sheets. The roof had big gaps with missing shingles. The "free" breakfast was toast, fruit and coffee. Don't believe the internet pictures!!! It's not worth any savings believe me! read more

We stayed at the Timber Lodge this past Friday & Saturday night. At $75 per night, including a small continental breakfast, it was good value for the money. The purpose of our weekend was to go snowmobiling at Salmon La Sac, which is a good 20 mile drive from the hotel. Conveniently, Hwy 903 which goes to Salmon La Sac, is just a 1 minute drive from the hotel. Even more convenient, there is a trailhead to a snowmobile trail also a 1 minute drive from the hotel. We stayed in room 205, which is on the second floor and accessed from the main lobby; it overlooks the rear parking lot. The room was pretty small, but it was well furnished. It seems our room has been somewhat updated from some of the photos posted on Yelp. The bed, a queen, was comfy and the bedding was nicer than a lot of hotels. The bathroom consisted of the toilet and shower, with the sink being next to the bed. There is a small fridge inside the dresser, as well as a microwave on the desk near the window. Breakfast consisted of waffles, toast, cereal, milk, juice, and fruit, as well as coffee and tea. It wasn't remarkable (and I wished there was eggs), but the waffles were really good. We've had the same ones at other hotels, and you won't regret eating them - unless you're gluten sensitive. Hotel staff was on the average end of friendly. On our last morning (Sunday), we were eating our breakfast in the lobby and overheard/saw the front desk lady coughing. No big deal, but then instead of washing her hands, she went straight to replenish the breakfast area. I'm all for a well stocked breakfast area, but doing it without washing hands after coughing? Gross. We discovered motels closer to Salmon La Sac and the Sno Park, so it remains to be seen if we'll stay here again for snowmobiling. That said, it was a reasonably good stay and we'd stay here again if the need arises. Important to note: *There is no hair dryer in the hotel rooms, so you'll either have to air dry your hair or stand over the heater by the window to dry *The hotel is within close proximity to the train tracks, so expect to be woken up multiple times over the course of your stay read more

At first this place seemed OK. The lady at the desk at night was nice and got us checked in no problem. However when we woke up in the morning we were greeted by bedbugs. We took one down to the front desk and showed the man who was working there. I expected him to at least address the problem. But he took our keys and said thank you and basically ignored the fact that we now have to deal with potential infestation of bed bugs and all of our luggage. If you can avoid staying at this place I would definitely do it. They should really dropped the ball and did nothing to fix it. Update: I changed my rating to three stars because we called back and talked to the right person and they made it right. Still not sure I will ever stay here again but we will see read more

This place is cheap and clean. My man and I stayed 3/29 on a spring break getaway to check out the area. The girl at the counter was polite but not in the cloying way some people expect. She suggested some eating places when we asked her and seemed knowledgeable about the area. Negatives - the WiFi was not working but hey $(%* happens and the coffeeshop a block away had it for free. Coffeemakers in the room would have been nice... though the lobby coffee was always available and pretty good. From a local roaster if I recall correctly. Oh and there was a bug in the bathroom. A ladybug. (I wouldn't have the heart to kill a ladybug either, housekeeper.) Positives - the sheets and pillowcases were surprisingly soft. Not scratchy like many cheap motels. Free parking! The breakfast was limited but FREE. My man brought me a bagel, some oatmeal, and fruit since I'm not exactly a morning person. When I wake up my hair looks like the singer from Whitesnake's but I digress. Lots of places won't let you take things back to your room so this was a nice perk. Also the place was pretty quiet. There was minor creaking from people upstairs but easily remedied by getting an upstairs room. Done. Overall this place is affordable for my broke student A*#. Maybe it has less frivolous perks than chain motels but for being family owned and supporting something that really represents the local interest I say it's worth it. It's clean and you can sleep there. That's all I really need in a motel. If that's all you need, don't hesitate to stay here. P.S. Gunnar's coffee down the block is cute, has good coffee, and a discount for staying at this motel. The sandwiches are named after guns FTW. read more

I'll be honest - the only reason we stayed at the Timber Lodge was that we got stuck with a bad water pump in Cle Elum, and had to stay the night until the local garage opened the next day. That said, it's a nice little place to stay, with comfortable beds and a good location in Cle Elum, and we'll likely be back. The staff is very friendly and happy to chat. As we were basically stuck there, they let us check into our room a little early, and let us leave our bags in the office while we waited the next day, after check-out. The rates are extremely reasonable, and the room was a good size for the price. It's also conveniently located - there's an excellent coffee shop just down the way, and a great Italian steak house right across the street. The continental breakfast is mostly carbs (cereals, waffles, bagels, etc.) but the company made up for it - we chatted with the front desk worker for nearly an hour. Timber Lodge is a nice little place to stay that doesn't break the bank, and offers plenty of local colour. If you're stuck in Cle Elum (or even just stopping along the way), it's definitely worth a stop. read more

We booked this because the website said free breakfast and passes to the pool. The breakfast consisted of toast and an apple, coffee, tea, and water. The swim passes were discontinued a couple months ago even though it is prominently advertised. I would suggest bringing a flashlight because our room was very dark, even with the bedside lamp. One person at the front desk was friendly but the other one was very snarky. The only positive thing I have to say is that is mostly clean. read more

Filthy dirty room with a pile of cigarette butts outside our sliding glass door, and completely unprofessional staff who seemed to spend their time hanging around the front desk talking. Our room was on the 1st floor, the stuff and reception were very friendly. However, be aware of the location, it's just by a main traffic road, you can tell every truck and every train with whistle passing by whole night, and the facilities were quite old, you can hear waters running through the pipe whole night, you can hear every step walk by your room, you can see bright white light come through the door and lighten your room when you turn off all lights and just want to fall into a "dark" deep sleep. We even put two pillows at the door to shade those lights. We spent $135/night on a king bed room and enjoyed zero second of sleep. The experience stayed in this inn was the worst ever. read more

Nice little hotel that is pet friendly. For weary travelers your will find a clean hot tub open until 11 and a sweet little continental breakfast in the morning. Hot tub is open until 11 and the continental breakfast includes waffles, cereal, bagels, OJ, etc...The pet fee is $15 and there is a small area to let your dog go to the bathroom. Yes, the rooms are a bit dated but you can tell this is a family owned non-chain motel and there is obvious effort at making the place clean and presentable. The price after tax and animal charge was $101 out the door for the night. I would stay here again if I necessary without hesitation. It was the first hotel I ever stayed at were i called in the reservation and they only took my name. I offered a credit card and a return phone number but the lady that answered the phone refused to take them. She said she didn't need them as she assumed I would show...odd and not normal reservation procedure and to be honest I was worried I wouldn't have a room when I arrived about 3 hours later but low and behold everything was fine and she had saved the room. The people who work here are the nicest hotel/motel staff I have ever encountered. When we broke down outside of Cle Elum, the tow truck driver recommended this place so we called them first. The lady behind the desk at the time saw us go by in the bus and was very sympathetic to our case. She was very helpful the whole time providing phone numbers and services that the town had to offer. This place is also pet friendly, so we were able to stay with our dog. It was just a $15 one time fee for the two nights we stayed there. The complementary breakfast was also very tasty and the lobby is very welcoming. Overall, this is a very beautiful motel and was just what my husband and I needed when things were looking down. read more

This is a decent place to say in Cle Elum. The price is pretty good. The rooms were clean, nothing too special though. No pool, but there is a hot tub. Service was nice. There is a continental breakfast, but it's not very extensive (about 4 kinds of cereal, juice, and bagels/english muffins/toast). Decent place for the price. read more

Yes it's right off the main road, and earshot of the trains but so is pretty much any other lodging in Cle Elum. Knowing that, plan on a clean, tidy room and a very comfy bed. Not impressed at all. I could give it no star but that's not an option. Staff wasn't very friendly and seemed like they were looking down on people. Hotel itself is older and not clean. Pets are allowed so don't be surprised when you put your things down on the floor to get dog hair all over it. Floors were dirty. My niece crawled for 2 mins and her feet and outfit was charcoal black. Bathroom are tiny and bathtub was moldy. Our sink was clogged. Rooms had some funky smell to it. Beds are pretty hard so I didn't get a good night sleep. Parking lines are not meant for SUVs it seems. Pretty small. I had a hard time getting out of my car being parked next to another SUV. Breakfast was.. well.. not worth eating.. 3 choices of cereal but definitely not the freshes. They have a little container in the refrigerator where they keep the milk. But once it goes out you have to wait for the staff to fill it back up and if she's busy then you'll be waiting a while since there's only 1 person working. Breakfast opened at 7 and we showed up at 720 and bagels were already gone. Overall you're overpaying. It's not worth what they charge a night. I've stayed at many hotels and this hotel is at the BOTTOM of my list. read more

We usually have an okay experience when we stay here but this will be our last. We are early risers and there are no in room coffee pots. The guest directory states the breakfast opens at 5:30. The only thing we waned at 6:30 was COFFEE. The girl manning the continental breakfast told us we couldn't have any coffee because she wasn't ready and she said "I don't like people touching my stuff" we waited a little while and went back for coffee. Still at 7 am they would not serve us coffee when it was clear the pots were full! We were treated so rudely we will never go back. It's too bad for them because we've been customers for a few years while we search property in the area. They are one of the few hotels in cle elem that takes dogs so we don't mind a little dog hair but we will never come back read more

I checked in on a Saturday night, thankful to find lodging. It was late, I was very tired. Sat down on the king size bed, which was nice, to be fair. I took my glasses off and nibbled on my fruit studded pound cake, oops I dropped a big crumb. So I reach down to pick up said crumb only for my fingers to tell me that was no crumb! In fact, it was a dead baby cockroach and I am not even kidding. I got out my flashlight and checked for bedbugs. Thankfully the sheets and mattress appeared free of infestation. had to stay there it was just too late for me to drive back to Seattle, although I thought about it...was met with a very large cockroach the next morning. So I brought both of the critters to the office and truly, was shocked by the gentleman's response. I get that some people accept cockroaches as a way of life. However, I am not one of those people. He suggested that I should spend another night with them and he'd knock off 100 bucks! And that there was no way to refund any of my money. Mind you, I paid 176 dollars to stay in their old gross room. The exact price I had paid for a lovely king size room at the Sno Cap across the street! Finally, I had stayed at the Timber some years before and had enjoyed the plAce. somebody needs to clean up their hotel. read more
