    Fried cheese curds
    Caitlin S.

What a great find! Debbie and her husband took over the restaurant a few years ago and are doing an excellent job. We came in for dinner and three people in our group had prime rib and said it was incredible. We had two orders of the fried cheese curds, they were a hit. Very lightly breaded and have small pieces of jalapeño that were so good. I had the cheesesteak, Debbie said they are known for it and it's clear why! It was absolutely delicious, no wonder they've sold 14,000 of them! We loved the food so much that we came back the next morning for breakfast. The French toast is great, not too sweet! A wonderful find for our snowmobiling weekend

This restaurant is under new management. Their specialty is Philly sandwiches which were very good. Also their homemade fries were amazing!

Bad service and the bloody merry was terrible. Hard to get to the bar because the tables were too close together, and way over priced.

They have outdoor dining where dogs are allowed as well as indoor dining with a bar. As of May 2026 when we went, the menu online was not the menu we received when we dined in, so I attached a photo but keep in mind it can change. The service here was great, it was out waitress Brooke's first night and she was wonderful. The manager and staff overall were fantastic and the food came out at a good pace, not too long or short a wait. For starters we ordered the grilled peach burrata salad, elk and bison chili, crispy brussel sprouts and chicken wings with huckleberry bbq sauce. Each of these were very tasty and we would eat them all again. I would argue the appetizers were better than the entrees. The wings were slightly under par compared to the other dishes, but that is just because they needed more huckleberry flavor (very light). For entrees we ordered the pan seared trout and the grilled ribeye. Both were massive portions, the trout came with wild rice and asparagus, the steak came with goat cheese mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. The trout was served as two big filets (found a few small bones, but no big deal) and was cooked well, but one filet needed more seasoning and was a little fishy tasting. The rice was a bit boring and dry, but the asparagus were superb. The ribeye was cooked nicely and tasted even better with the chipotle lime butter it came with. The mashed potatoes were great and did taste of goat cheese and the brussel sprouts were delicious, very similar to the appetizer preparation. Similar to the trout, the portion of steak was large, but a good portion of it was gristle and fat (about 30-40%). Overall a nice meal with huge serving sizes. Had we known how big the entrees would be, we may have shared one or ordered less appetizers. Great service with a pleasant ambiance.

Their operating hours...not so much: by the time we realized we were hungry, we had to book it over there to grab a table before things started to wind down (their closing time was 8:00pm, which makes the Lakeside Lodge a lunch place, in my opinion). True to its name, the lodge has gorgeous views of the water, and a welcoming, rustic aesthetic. We didn't order anything fancy or particularly adventurous: a bison burger for myself, and some surf-and-turf sturf for me wurf (sorry, the Swedish Chef in me took over there for a moment!). Everything was good, if not particularly remarkable, but it certainly did the job. Expect hearty, homestyle cooking, not haute cuisine, and your expectations will surely be met to your satisfaction. Service was present, attentive and friendly, and if it weren't for that passive sense of anxiety that comes with being the last served table in a closing restaurant (not their fault; that's my own hang-up), I would have felt more at-ease. I wish we'd had more time to check out the restaurant and the resort, but I guess that'll have to wait for a return trip, sometime in the future.

We opted for the Bison Shot Ribs and the Bison and Elk bolognese with rigatoni. Both were excellent. The Bison Meatball appt was huge and delicious. Service was fine with one exception. They gave us a basket of what was supposed to be fresh baked baguette and it was Stale bread. When the server came over I politely asked should the bread be stale or chewy? She replied, it's fresh baked every day. To which I said, this doesn't chew fresh baked. Now typically the server would say, I'm sorry let me get you another basket, Not here, she said so you don't want the bread and just took the basket away, no replacement. I know it's a small issue but it left a bad taste with me.

I arrived around 7 PM and grabbed a seat at the bar since I was dining solo. The restaurant was busy, but the atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable. For dinner, I ordered the Chicken Prosciutto Pasta with a side of bread. The pasta was outstanding -- easily one of the best pasta dishes I've had in a long time. The combination of braised chicken, prosciutto, mushrooms, tomatoes, roasted red peppers, and creamy parmesan-mascarpone sauce came together perfectly. Every bite was flavorful, rich, and satisfying without feeling heavy or dry. As someone preparing for a half marathon the next morning, it was the perfect carb-loading meal. I also ordered the Huckleberry Sundae for dessert. If you're visiting the Yellowstone area, do yourself a favor and try something with huckleberries. The ice cream, topping, and whipped cream were fantastic, and it ended up being one of my favorite desserts from the trip. One unexpected bonus was getting to chat with other travelers at the bar, including another runner who was also working toward completing a half marathon in all 50 states. It added to the friendly, welcoming feel of the place. Overall, Madison Crossing Lounge delivered excellent food, a great atmosphere, and a memorable dining experience. I don't hand out many five-star reviews, but this one earned it. If I'm back in West Yellowstone for another race or a visit to Yellowstone National Park, I'll absolutely be returning.
