Family and I were staying in the area decided to stop in for dinner when we returned to our cabin. Some of the reviews had me a little Leary but we decided to give it a shot. Nice size place with plenty of sports on tv and awesome seating. Waiter was prompt and got our orders quickly. Food was delivered in a timely manner. Those of us with burgers enjoyed them. I needed a salad so got that for my side and all the ingredients were very fresh. Daughter had the Spicy Chicken Pasta and liked it. My burger was something new for me. Had bacon, blue cheese and Granny Smith apples. Man it worked. Great food.

If you need some fuel and are feeling like some beer and pizza to top it off with this is your spot !!!

During our 5 night vacation to Yellowstone we ate at Ponds Lodge twice. The first night I had their pizza and potato skins and my friend had the bison meatloaf. The pizza was AMAZING as were the potato skins (I mean, it's Idaho, right?). My friend also enjoyed his meatloaf and even talked about it a few days after the trip because it was so good. The second night my friend and I split a pizza and also ordered the pretzels. They must make the pretzels and the cheese sauce there because they were out of this world! So tasty! What really set this restaurant apart from the rest was the service. Our server was attentive, super friendly, and took the time to chat with us when she wasn't busy. She was telling us about Yellowstone and gave us some info on her background, which was super interesting.

Ordered a burger for takeout that was awesome! Would order again for sure. Super quick wait time.

Piece of plastic found in the pot pie. Horrible experience all around!

I'd be lying if I told you I wanted to go here on a Friday night. A quiet town, a small bar, random…read morelocals. In my head it was a recipe for awkward, but in reality, it was the best decision I made on my trip. While visiting Yellowstone and staying at a local weekend rental, my friend and I decided to swing through Shotgun Bar on a Friday night. We expected live music, but were met with the quiet tone of the jukebox. Apparently, the live music happens during the summer and winter. However, that didn't matter. A couple locals sat at the bar and a friendly bartender immediately welcomed us. As a tourist, I wasn't sure whether to pretend to fit in or play it off and not bother the locals. It wasn't long before we were sniffed out. It is a small town of 250+ after all. What happened next would change the course of our journey. We ended up meeting some of the friendliest, funnest and funniest people of our lives. They embraced us and before we knew it, we were all buying each other drinks. I will warn you, the sake jelly shots we were encouraged to chug were a struggle, but the experience left us holding our bellies with laughter. One of the owners of the bar, Katie, really made the experience special. She told us stories of the locals, gave us Yellowstone tips and history, showed us around and invited us to her home. She introduced us to other locals and genuinely made the experience once in a lifetime. By the end of the weekend we didn't just have drinking buddies at a bar, we met kind-hearted, genuine and incredibly funny people that we now consider friends. On top of all that, the beer selection was superior. As we prepared to leave on the final night, the other owner, Jessica, gave her own bottle of bear spray to us so we wouldn't be mauled walking home at night (Uber isn't quite prevalent here). Luckily, we didn't need to use it. These people are the real deal, these people are genuine Americans. This experience made Yellowstone feel like a tiny morsel of awesome in the grand scheme of things. As they say, sometimes it's not about the destination, it's about the people you meet along the way. Definitely meet the people of Shotgun Bar.

I would say though that bison meat is on the drier side, so the veggies on the side of the plate and my drink (just water lol) were quite useful. The onion rings I got were crispy as well. The restaurant is nicely decorated with taxidermied animals such as moose and a bison head. If it hadn't rained we could have potentially sat outside where the outdoor seating is riverside. The waiter also checked in every now and then making the service great. The Jalapeño Chicken Sandwich I took a few bites out of. It was also great and I liked that the jalapeños were fresh not pickled.

Decided to stop in on a whim as we were not feeling all the touristy dinner spots in West Yellowstone. It was a weekday and we arrived an hour before closing without a reservation... it was packed, but a few tables looked open. However, they told us they weren't sure if we'd get a table since there were other parties waiting. We decided to take a flier and wait anyway since it was late. 20 minutes later, we were seated. Our server was very chipper and friendly, gave recommendations, and was proactive about letting us know what they'd run out of. (In my opinion, a place that runs out of some ingredients is a signal that they serve things fresh or not at all, a green flag.) My partner and I each got a variety of the chicken sandwich, while our friends shared the steak. Portions were large, chicken and steak was cooked appropriately, and the fries were some of the best any of us have ever had. All in all, we were glad we decided to forego the tourist traps closer to the park entrance. Anglers Riverfront was wonderful. We were even lucky enough to glimpse the sunset across the river while we ate, and we left happy with full bellies just before they closed up for the night. Would definitely stop by again next time we find ourselves in Island Park. Thanks so much for the hospitality, Anglers team.

They have outdoor dining where dogs are allowed as well as indoor dining with a bar. As of May 2026 when we went, the menu online was not the menu we received when we dined in, so I attached a photo but keep in mind it can change. The service here was great, it was out waitress Brooke's first night and she was wonderful. The manager and staff overall were fantastic and the food came out at a good pace, not too long or short a wait. For starters we ordered the grilled peach burrata salad, elk and bison chili, crispy brussel sprouts and chicken wings with huckleberry bbq sauce. Each of these were very tasty and we would eat them all again. I would argue the appetizers were better than the entrees. The wings were slightly under par compared to the other dishes, but that is just because they needed more huckleberry flavor (very light). For entrees we ordered the pan seared trout and the grilled ribeye. Both were massive portions, the trout came with wild rice and asparagus, the steak came with goat cheese mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. The trout was served as two big filets (found a few small bones, but no big deal) and was cooked well, but one filet needed more seasoning and was a little fishy tasting. The rice was a bit boring and dry, but the asparagus were superb. The ribeye was cooked nicely and tasted even better with the chipotle lime butter it came with. The mashed potatoes were great and did taste of goat cheese and the brussel sprouts were delicious, very similar to the appetizer preparation. Similar to the trout, the portion of steak was large, but a good portion of it was gristle and fat (about 30-40%). Overall a nice meal with huge serving sizes. Had we known how big the entrees would be, we may have shared one or ordered less appetizers. Great service with a pleasant ambiance.

There were only two waitresses when we sat down to dinner and that was not enough for the number of tables they have. It was hard to get a waitress to place our order and the food took forever to come out and when it did, everything came out at once (appetizers and entrees). We had hoped the soup or salad that come with the entrees would at least come out quickly, but it did not. We tried the bison burger (pretty good but nothing special), trashcan nachos with chicken (delicious) and I got the bison short rib which was exceptional with the chicken noodle soup (I liked that it had a few pieces of potato in it, we were in Idaho after all). The bison was cooked nicely and came with a generous portion of mashed potatoes and zucchini. I really enjoyed it and would happily eat it again.
