As others have noted, the food is pretty great, the service less so. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor tables with a nice view of the lake. There is also a bar downstairs that had a live band. It is a very casual place, they serve your water in disposable plastic cups on the table. The portions here are large and each entree comes with a soup or salad so you won't leave hungry. There were only two waitresses when we sat down to dinner and that was not enough for the number of tables they have. It was hard to get a waitress to place our order and the food took forever to come out and when it did, everything came out at once (appetizers and entrees). We had hoped the soup or salad that come with the entrees would at least come out quickly, but it did not. We tried the bison burger (pretty good but nothing special), trashcan nachos with chicken (delicious) and I got the bison short rib which was exceptional with the chicken noodle soup (I liked that it had a few pieces of potato in it, we were in Idaho after all). The bison was cooked nicely and came with a generous portion of mashed potatoes and zucchini. I really enjoyed it and would happily eat it again. The prices are reasonable given the portion, but they need to work on the timing of the food and getting more help or more attentive help. read more

Gas hours no longer accurate in 2025. Fuel deck gas now closes at 5pm on weekdays 6pm on weekends (even busy holiday weekends). If you show up at 6:02pm they're happy to sell you a $50 gas can you can haul up and down the steep ramp to the parking lot gas pump. Your arms will be jacked after the workout and you'll smell like gas for a week after using the eco-friendly lid. Just make sure you have a credit card on hand. No tap pay with cellphone. Gas hours are not posted anywhere. "It's subject to change" according to employees. At least the employees were super friendly. I'd just rather tip them for working hard than give this place another $50 after already spending $1000 with them this week. We still made the most of our night and enjoyed a nice view at the restaurant. Overpriced as you would expect at a remote lakeside restaurant, but the live music and sunset were great. Our experience was one unfortunate incident after another. After a long day in the park we wanted to sit down to a good meal with a scenic view. The lodge definitely has a great view. It's hard to beat a meal while overlooking a lake. The food and the service is where things took a detour. When we arrived there were 4 tables seated and two waitresses working. We walked up to an empty podium and waited to be seated. A woman who would soon be our waitress noticed us and continued processing the cards she received. No big deal. She took the cards to the table and then grabbed another card to process while we still stood there. Seating was taking so long two women came up at different intervals and told us they would find us a waitress. After close to 10 minutes we finally got seated. We should have taken the hint and left but we were tired and just wanted to eat and go rest. Anyway back to the story. Our waitress dropped off water and then took back off to tend to a few other tables which had now grown to five between the two waitresses. Table number 5 came in after us. Our waitress didn't come back for almost another 10 minutes at which point we just ordered food and drinks to speed up the process. Food ordered; chicken fried steak, western burger, bison burger on a gluten free bun and marmalade on the side, classic burger and fettuccine alfredo. Two of the meals had side salads. Our food came out and the waitress had to be reminded of the salads. As she was addressing the salad issue, we noticed the marmalade on the bison burger was not on the side. Again given the delays my daughter just decided to try it and ultimately ended up scraping off the sauce. By this time one salad made it to the table with the statement that another one was being made. Long story longer, the salad never showed up. A quick call back to table number 5 that came in after us, they got their drinks, food and left while we were still dealing with our struggling waitress. If you've made it this far, I'll wrap up by offering maybe it was just a bad night and not common for the dining area. It was unfortunate our experience was so bad. If you happen to go, I hope your experience will be better than ours but I can assure you, we won't be back. read more

The outdoor seating area is nice with plenty of seats and covered and uncovered options. Great views! I got the bison burger, my better two-fourths got the chicken club. One of our friends got the jalapeno burger and the other also the bison. We got the Cajun shrimp/ shrooms appetizer to round off the meal. The food was not bad but the burgers were on the dry side, all around. The accompanying sauce was needed and together made for a good meal. My onion rings were pretty good and the kettle chips wich was another side option were awesome. The Cajun shrimp appetizer was really good. Shout out to the staff for great service and friendliness. Views are amazing. The menus are greatly reduced from those posted. No pasta. Service was okay (we had to ask several times for them to bring my grandson's meal which finally arrived with the bill). Food was okay (the fries are seasoned well and my chicken fried steak with Yukon gold mashed potatoes and sautéed squash was the best entree; my husband's steak salad wasn't good; the trash can nachos were bland; the supposedly regular Coke fountain drinks were flat and diet; my son-in-law liked his bison burger but not the tater tots). Lots of places close early or are closed for the season, so we were so lucky to have found Lakeside Lodge still open at night. We arrived just before closing and they were able to help us with a take out order. A friend recommended Lakeside Lodge to us, and we are sure glad we listened. Consider me your friend, and take this as a recommendation! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the hostess, Michelle, who has the most beautiful smile! Checkin process was smooth and quick. We got to our spacious 1 bedroom cabin, and were pleasantly surprised how nice it was. After getting settled, we went back to the main lodge for dinner. Who would've guessed we'd get five star dining on a lake in the middle of nowhere in Idaho?! The food was amazing, the service was fantastic, and the view over the lake was stunning--until a crazy stormed whipped up from out of nowhere, and the staff quickly helped us move inside. Katherine was our friendly server, and chef Rick is a cool guy who came around to the tables to make everyone feel welcome. We ordered the trash can nachos, stuffed mushrooms, and bbq buffalo wings for appetizers. For main course we had Bison NY steak, seared ahi (sorry didn't take a pic), and bison fajitas. Lakeside Resort and Restaurant is a gorgeous place, sitting right beside the water. Staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The food was brought out fresh and hot. Our only issue was everything we ordered was terribly under seasoned. We had the Prime Rib Grilled Cheese, Buffalo Burger, the Mushroom Swiss Burger, the Kid's Cheese Burger, and an order of Onion Rings. We wanted to like the food so much, but most of us only ate about half of our meal bc it was lacking seasoning. Otherwise, a beautiful and welcoming experience. read more

Horrible experience! We reserved a specific Rv camp site in person and they subsequently without notifying us move us to a site we didn't choose or want. When we did find out what they had done they refused to remedy the situation. After several feeble attempts over a two day period to talk to a manager and without receiving a call back, we asked for a cancellation. We were told they would only refund 85 percent of the purchase price. Our printed receipt promises a specific site and they failed to meet reasonable expectations. Never again! I would suggest saving yourself potential headaches and spend your money elsewhere! They put us in a very precarious situation and caused an extreme amount of undo stress as we were attending a family reunion and we only found out about the switch by chance last minute and not by any notification provided by Lakeside Lodge! The lack of integrity from this business is now obvious! Imagine renting an apartment having your moving truck loaded and ready and on move-in day you discover the apt you have documented proof you rented was given to someone else and you're expected to take another apartment you did not want and would not have chosen ...and then having a portion of your deposit retained as an inconvenience charge by the rental company! read more

We came here 10 years ago on our honeymoon and returned for a 10th anniversary dinner tonight. Firstly, the menu photos on Yelp are out of date--there's a different menu now with fewer choices. Changes don't appear to be for the better, unfortunately. The first time we were here (in 2009), the staff was pleasant and I had blackened rainbow trout with delicious mashed potatoes and country gravy. That's no longer on the menu. The staff is still nice, the view of the reservoir is pretty, but the food tonight was a huge bummer. We ordered the Greek salad ($12) and the albacore tuna salad ($15). Both salads had spring mix, roasted red peppers from a jar, kalamata olives, and red onion. Evidently, you make it a Greek salad by adding feta cheese. You make it an albacore salad by adding capers, dill, and a plastic cup of canned tuna mixed with boiled egg and mayo. Sigh. The $4 side of "whipped potatoes" was (I kid you not) one or two cooked potatoes, smashed into large chunks with a blunt object. Served completely plain. No salt, no pepper, no gravy, no butter-- just potatoes in a bowl. I'm all for enjoying the simple things, but this was just...insulting to pay for. I don't know what happened in the last decade, but hopefully they can backtrack and improve their food. read more

Avoid this place. Great views, but the people running it are a bunch of rude people that treat paying customers like crap. Reserved a cabin for a weekend getaway with the family. Arrived Friday night to a front desk person that acted like I was putting her out or that I inconvenienced her by asking about the restaurant. I remained very polite because you never know the day someone is having. Come to find out, there is a wedding this weekend and if you aren't part of the wedding party, the rest of the resort is off limits... no restaurant, no bar and the staff must have orders to treat you like you are unwelcome. This would have been nice to know as I would have stayed elsewhere. The next morning tried to rent a boat, met with even more rude behavior. The guy acted like we were asking for his wallet or keys to his truck. Being very short, unhelpful and then he broke the cardinal rule by throwing a pen on the counter.. that was enough, instead of spending the rest of my weekend in jail I walked away. Never staying here and will be sure to let every person that asks. Do not stay here either. read more

I don't know that I've ever written a review for a restaurant, but I felt compelled to do so this time. My wife and I were headed back to Driggs after a long day in Yellowstone. We were looking for a restaurant somewhere on the way. She found the Lakeside Lodge on Yelp, and we decided to give it a try. OMG. What a treat. We couldn't have asked a nicer setting and/or a nicer meal. Our server, Christopher, was fairly new to the area, but not new to knowing steaks, and to knowing how to engage with people and make them feel welcome. His recommendations were spot on. My wife and I both had ribeye steaks, but slightly different cuts. Christopher was very knowledgeable about the differences and seemed invested in us having a great experience. Both of our dinners were incredibly delicious. And the beautiful sunset over the lake was dessert (we couldn't have eaten another bite of actual dessert!). Just a huge shout out to Christopher and the chefs at Lakeside Lodge. Our stop there was one of the more memorable parts of our trip. read more

Let me begin by saying the food was excellent, the drinks were tasty, and the view was gorgeous. My group and I thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. Let me also say it was clear they were short staffed and tensions may have been running high. However, none of this could excuse the bizarre and appalling behavior we experienced from the staff. The weirdness began with the bartender denying me a drink because I did not have a physical ID, only a government ID phone app. That was fine- lots of states don't have the digital ID app yet. However, the tone changed when the bartender threatened to call the cops on us if she saw me take a sip of a drink...we felt this was a pretty extreme reaction, especially considering I'm of a drinking age and once the cops arrive that would be proven immediately. The bizarre hostility didn't stop there. We were seated by the hostess, who seemed to be an incredibly kind person during our earlier interactions. We asked if we could push two tables together because our group was larger (7 people) and she said no, which we were perplexed by but ultimately fine with (there was another party who had done the same thing). She then launched into a strange, unhinged speech saying we could push the two tables together, she doesn't care what we do, bring the tables down to the lake for all she cared etc. We were...so confused. She then accused someone in our group of calling her ridiculous. There were five of us standing around while this happened and not a single person heard anyone in our group say that she was being ridiculous. We didn't even have a reason to say that- we weren't upset or anything. Needless to say, we were confused and disappointed by the behavior we experienced from the staff. read more
