Host was extremely rude and unhelpful. She did not even acknowledge us being there she was too busy speaking with another gentleman that seemed to be another employee. After asking for the menu she rudely told us to scan the bar code for the menu (like we had to know about it). When we asked for a table with her unpleasant attitude she told us to stand by counter and then to sit wherever, it wasn't much on what she said but how she said it to me, truly i felt discriminated. I can understand why there were no customers they most likely received the same treatment as my group. While traveling I would like to have a relaxed time but she added frustration to my trip. The advantage this place had over the other airport digs is that it was right in front of my gate (gate 25). Trendy decor with options of counter and full table seating and where you can order your meal from a tablet and feel like you are in the future. From the breakfast menu, I ordered the breakfast sandwich (fried egg, bacon, lettuce, tomato and cheddar). It arrived with a side of potato. Tasted pretty decent. The bagel sandwich was well toasted. This place sucks. The food is at best average. I find the use of the IPAD menu order system odd at best and totally lacking of interaction at worst. This has got to have the absolute worst service of anywhere I've ever been. All of my of my other reviews have always been 4 or 5 star so in order for me to give this place 1 star says something. I ordered a cheeseburger with bacon and a beer at 6pm. I received the beer immediately but after receiving that beer it took them 50 minutes to even acknowledge me again. I had to ask them where my food was at more than once. The last time i asked I said to the server, "excuse me, they must have forgot about my burger" the servers response to me was "i was wondering who ordered that for a while now." So that means it was sitting under a lamp for who knows how long. The food was nothing special and service made it taste worse. You would have more satisfaction from the food court and would at least get your food on the spot. read more

Last time I flew through JFK I got breakfast here and remembered (accurately) that the potatoes were bland and starchy. Was very close to my gate and I was starving so I checked out their posted menu and decided to give it a try. Okay so I'm a "millennial" but this whole "order on iPad" felt so very impersonal. I don't like it and if I had realized, and had not been so jet lagged, in realizing the process I probably would have walked a bit further and found somewhere else to eat. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and it was unfortunately one of the worst I have had =[ but the potatoes were good. Perhaps I just ordered the wrong thing, and just wanted to make mention it took a while for my meal to be served. Even the bottled water I ordered took a good 15 minutes to get to me even though the place had very little customers. Could I recommend this? If you're pressed for time and your gate happens to be right in front of it, ok sure, but be prepared for impersonal service and ridiculously high priced meals even for an airport (guacamole $13). I don't really like the idea of ordering through a tablet. It seems as though it's efficient but I had problems trying to order a small breakfast before our flight. I wanted something that wouldn't negatively affect my stomach since I was going to be heavily medicated for the majority of the flight. I only wanted turkey bacon and toast. After waiting for a minute and finally getting assistance, I received my correct order with a side of jam which was perfect. Hubby had a bagel with cream cheese and kept it simple. Once an actual person helped us place our order, everything went smoothly. We could have just spoken our order to a person and that would have killed a lot of time. Nice place for breakfast if you're flying out or coming into JFK. It's located between gates 22 and 26 in the airport. Very modern decor with fancy technology to place your order. The server assisted us in ordering on the IPad as I asked a lot of questions. He even provided recommendations based on our food selections. We ordered the Best Breakfast which included 2 Sausage links, 2 strips of bacon, 2 sunny side up eggs, 2 pancakes, Bowl it fresh fruit and Orange Juice. This was plenty of food for the 2 of us. Everything was warm. I prefer my pancakes Hot but I have no complaints about our breakfast. They even had it set up so you earned points with your order. I played a slot game while I ate breakfast. After a long uncomfortable red-eye flight I was feeling pretty low energy and rolled right off the jet bridge and into Loft for breakfast to try and recoup some gumption for the ground transportation from JFK to northwest CT. Yeah, actually I was hiding, lol. Loft was a great hide-out. Service was impeccable, decor was contemporary, food was good and reasonably priced. You can't get anything this good in the airport in Hawaii. Eggs Benedict $13 and big Latte $4. The unusual touch to the Benedict was that it was served on a soft southern style biscuit instead of a tougher muffin. My only criticism would be the eggs were just a tad harder than optimal. Walking further to the heart of the terminal there were many more breakfast options but the Benedicts there ranged $17 and up compared to Loft, which is further out in the gating area. You order via iPad and the gratuity is pre-set at 18% but you can edit it up or down easily as you choose... I loved the hostess' warm welcome at 7 am so I bumped it up to 20%. However I do see the logic that adding a tip should be done post-service and not pre-service, since that's the whole point of a flexible gratuity. In my case service was excellent from start to finish so it was fine. read more

I cannot rate the food or drinks, because I didn't get any. I walked past the chairs that were sort of lined up, as I questioned whether it was even open. But I saw a man at the bar with a beer in front of him, so I walked up to the bar. There's a tablet there so I tapped it. There were some other people in the corner-- I didn't know if they were customers, sort of assumed they were. One of them got up and walked over to me... with her mask on, I didn't understand what she said at first. So I just looked at her and said "I'm sorry? What?" And she was laughing at me and said "it's closed!" Waving her hand toward the row of barstools. To be fair, I did think it might be closed and so even though she was hard to understand as she scoffed at me--- I picked up her message. My bad, walking in and trying to order when I should have known by the row of chairs that it was closed. By the look of it being all automated (tablets at every seat or table), I didnt think it was weird that no workers greeted me. They didn't have to greet me or give me service while closed, but I think they should have had it roped off better, and the way she laughed at me was rude. If I had trouble understanding her due to language differences, it might have been impossible to understand what she was saying, and the added laughing was added rudeness. I am always surprised at how people who work in tourist spots, hotels & airports don't slow down their speech and enunciate so that people can hear and understand them. A culture of respect and consideration is definitely NOT taught to the employees of this "restaurant." read more

This place has all the makings of a rather perfect airport eatery. It has little ipads on each place setting that allow you to google while you eat - brilliant if you're on a long stop over and are bored and on your own. You also have to order your food and drink through here, and / or you can plug in your own devices and use them. The ordering of the food and drink is a bit of a novelty at first, but then can become a bit weird as there's no real contact with any staff until you've already placed your order. On the one hand, this makes ordering a little difficult as if you have any questions, there may be no one around to answer them; however on the other hand, the staff are a total nightmare - super vague, unhelpful and generally not-giving-a-%*&@, so perhaps the lesser interaction the better? Then there's the food. Ah the promise, such promise. I took some snaps of the menu card vs the real thing, to properly support my disappointment when it arrived. Think of a real Big Mac vs the picture, then forget to add the big mac sauce, stand on it, and deliver it in a surly manner akin to a death row inmate's last supper served up by his victim. Now you've got an idea of how my experience was. My pancakes arrived hard, without most of the toppings displayed, slammed down on the table. I ended up sending them back as they were inedible. I got a chocolate cake instead (yeah I'm good to myself, so what!) The chocolate cake was not quite stale, but only cos it was pretty much frozen. Yuk. We wanted a soft drink and a bagel and somehow this ended up taking 15 minutes. I get all the bad reviews. And agree with most of the comments (especially the one about tipping before you actually eat!) however lets keep in mind that it's an airport restaurant. Not that I'm making excuses - but there are some pretty bad places in airports. Cool decor. Modern and clean. Ordering food via the iPad - paying at the table - all that is pretty cool. The beer selection on tap is pretty good - till you find out that half of them are out. The foods not that bad. Asian chicken salad, Philly cheesesteak egg rolls and the buffalo burger were surprisingly good. The service bites. No one seems to care. They look to bored to give a crap about you. Just poorly managed. If they fix that - it could be a really cool place. One of the better airport places for sure. I wish I could give less than a star! First of all, there is zero direction as to whether you should seat yourself or wait for a host/hostess to seat you. You order from an iPad, which was fine. What i did not appreciate was them automatically adding a 25% tip! For what exactly??? After placing our order, the "waitress" came to our table and told us that they were out of the drinks we ordered... how does a dining establishment run out of lemonade and iced tea??? "Waitress" came out to bring the food and a napkin with a real fork and a plastic knife. She quickly disappeared. After waiting for a good 10 minutes, I finally walked over to the bar to ask for water. She said she would bring it over. 10 minutes later, she finally makes eye contact and remembers that I asked for water. Later, I ask for a to go container... 10 minutes later i start walking over to the bar again because she forgot again... she asks, "can I get you something?" At this point, I'm exasperated and I was pretty short with her. Food was mediocre at best, we ordered a Reuben. After I packed up our food, I quickly turned the iPad on and changed the tip to 0%! An interesting experience. The atmosphere is cool, it doesn't seem to get too busy, and there is a lot of room. Ordering from the iPads is easy, and payment as well. But tipping when you order? At least it is adjustable.... I ordered the veggie burger, which left me wanting. It was bland, and about half the size of the massive bun. The flavor itself was very plain. Moist, at least, but it really lacked flavor. The "caramelized" onions look like they sat on the grill for a few seconds but nothing more, which made it a waste of the extra $1 for them. It wasn't bad... But it wasn't good, either. The service was mediocre, as others have pointed out. I received my drink and food in a timely manner, but the attitude of the staff was one of boredom. I guess it could be the types of customers in an airport, but better service would make this a 4 star place. Overall, it was average for an airport experience...
