Lofty quickly became one our favorite places to get coffee and breakfast in the San Diego area. The sausage, egg, and cheddar croissant was delicious. My fiancée and I have been to many restaurants for brunch in San Diego, but Lofty is one of the only breakfast stops on our must-visit list when we're in the area. The Cloudy with a Chance of Cold Brew drink was also excellent. While we were only in the area for a few days, we made several trips to Lofty just for this high quality coffee. We've also ordered beans several times now. Every time we've visited, the team at Lofty has taken great care of us and the lines have moved fast. The decor is also very tasteful, and we had no trouble finding a comfortable spot on the patio. We always look forward to visiting and just wish there was a location in Northern California! read more

However, the thing that really put a bad taste in my mouth was the cashier was very snobby. I think the initial impression was very unwelcoming. I really didn't want to write this because the past experiences I've had with Lofty in Encinitas were great, but this experience was really bad. I spent $23 on a lukewarm, watered down london fog with zero flavor and a really pathetic looking assortment of avocado, eggs and gluten free toast that was supposed to be put together like a normal breakfast but instead they were just kind of strewn in the box, and missing an ingredient. I was also late for work because it took 34 minutes for them to make me a small drink and a box of ingredients. It's a bummer, but I won't be back. read more

I love this place. Their service and food are excellent. Every time I come here, the employees are polite. I'm not sure I understand the complaints about waiting so long-it's not fast food and it's not a coffee shop with mobile orders! I have been coming here for lunch about once a week since they opened. I typically get the hummus and avocado toast. It costs $1 more for gluten free bread which isn't too bad. It formerly came with 2 pieces but today it was only a half order. I understand there is some inflation but to change and not forewarn the customer is lame. $14 for one piece of bread with hummus and avocado is not a good value. So disappointing! read more

I've been coming to Lofty Coffee for a few months now and I've always had a great experience! The staff is always friendly and willing to go above and beyond regardless of how busy it gets. Shoutout to Tiana and Olivia as they're always on top of their work and provide superb service. The restrooms, condiment area, and seating region have always been clean throughout the various times I've visited. In regards to the coffee, I've had their freshly brewed coffee, the Nola (my favorite), and a handful of others which have not disappointed. Business has picked up since I've been coming here but I applaud the efforts of the baristas as they work tirelessly to deliver impeccable service and great coffee. Keep it up! read more

I never write reviews but can't resist this time. My expectation of employees these days is very low, but today I can't help but write one. They have a stupid "glass policy" after 3:00 and if you request one instead of a cup, your not treated like the "customer" you are who pays the employee's paycheck. Rather are told it's "policy". This employee finally gave in, but didn't make me feel good about it. It's a glass! What's the profit margin on my drink? Aren't customers important to business? And to think was about to buy $100 gift card for someone. We'll THAT sale was lost. I stilled tipped my generous 20%. I'm not sure why I rewarded the unpleasant interaction. read more

Although the food and coffee taste great, we are displeased with the service here. A few weeks ago our coffee came out quick. However, the sandwich we ordered took about 20 minutes. Only a few other customers were there so it seemed a bit ridiculous. When I asked the employee at the front about the status of our order, I was told it was still being made.....20+ minutes for eggs and toast? Common. Today we came back to enjoy a pleasant morning and received very similar service but in the reverse order. Food came out quickly but coffee took 30 minutes!! It's a damn Tuesday morning. There were only about three customers in the store at the time and no more than 3 customers came in after us. The staffing seemed fine so we weren't sure what the hold up was. I mean the food came out quickly so what's the reason this time? I don't want to get up from my seat four times to check on the coffee wondering if it was sitting on the counter when I was told it would be brought out to us. The employee who finally brought our coffee out was trying her best to accommodate us and offered us a baked good but then seemed stumble to come up with an excuse for the delay. Apparently the coffee bean machine was down, despite many other coffees being consistently made for people who ordered after us. To this employee, you tried your best. We appreciate you. You were very nice and accommodating, but please don't try and cover for your fellow coworkers' failures. With that being said, I don't know when we will be coming back. This place is a nice treat but $30+ for two coffees and one breakfast sandwich and service like this?! No thanks. To the owner, Ive seen several other similar reviews like this. When the issue is resolved, we would love to come back but in the meantime, we'll save some coin and head over to the evil empire (Starbucks) where we know the service is better than here. read more

I love Lofty Coffee and my family does as well. The drinks and food are a level above our other local shops. It has beautiful indoor and outdoor seating and great airflow throughout. Updating my positive review from last year as I've noticed a steady decline in service and taste in the past year. Today I ordered my usual of ice latte with honey and was asked a question I've never been asked the 2 years I've been ordering this, that they can do iced americano or cold brew. So I just said americano cuz I thought the cashier was asking what kind of coffee I wanted for my iced latte with honey. When it comes out it's black so told the baristas I ordered a latte with honey where is the milk? They said I could add creamer myself? Why would I do that when I came for an iced latte that was supposed to come with milk. I just looked up latte in gas I'm crazy and the definition is it is espresso with steamed milk. I may have missed that the espresso machine was broken but when they finally did add milk it wasn't even sweet at all which is why I get this drink. They used to get this drink right a year ago but haven't gotten it right since plus don't appreciate being told to add creamer myself when I came in to have the milk steamed and added or just added in at all! Wont be coming back which is a shame because I used to come here once a week for years. Plus I think the location closes early. Even the state st location I noticed doesn't taste as good. I have loved Lofty, but this review is specific to a change in their Matcha recently (it's what I always order everywhere). They now have added mint to their matcha latte and it is incredibly off-putting. Instead of Matcha & Milk it's Matcha, Mint and Milk. I know mint is likely cheaper but i'm already spending $8 on my drink, and now it's undrinkable. PLEASE go back to the original formula! read more

Coffee, tea, pastries and food I've had are good. The main reason I knocked a star is because they are SO slow! When I don't order ahead, to prepare one coffee one tea can be 15-20 minutes. I've been there at 8am, 10am 11am and even 3pm. The 3pm one was ridiculous because there was one person ahead of me and it still took like 10 minutes. I just moved from SF and I've been looking for a coffee home. I really wanted to love this place. Yesterday was my second time coming to the Lofty's. On the first visit, I ordered the chai latte. I was flavorless. Most coffee places struggle with chai's so I didn't want to hold it over their head. On yesterday's visit, I ordered the cardamon latte and a croissant. The latte was okay. I liked that I could taste the cardamon but I didn't love the drink. The real issue came to the croissant. It was so hard, crispy, and flat. I'm not sure who made them or when they made them, but they must have left them in too long and management decided to put them out anyway. I only ate half and which is unheard of for me. The decor is tasteful and the outdoor seating is perfect for enjoying the sunshine. I spent $21.00 on one cardamon latte, one mocha latte, and two croissants (plain & almond). read more

I am absolutely in love with this place. I discovered it right before everything happened and they had to close (like all other places). I honestly cannot WAIT to go back. The inside is completely adorable and clean and chic. The drinks are beyond amazing and the juice is so fresh and served in a mason jar. I showed up one rainy morning before dropping my daughter off at day care before work. Everyone working was incredibly kind and so smiley. I loved it. I really was excited about this location opening, but sigh, didn't have the best experience. 18$ for a latte, eggs and sausage. A little much. The latte itself was super foamy, however the taste was of burnt coffee. Eggs were underdone and sausage was cold. The saving grace was the bread that came with the eggs. Design is just as charming as all the rest, however ALL the tables were full of empty cups and plates, with no patrons. Had to clean off a table to sit down. Staff was friendly. read more
