First off, I took the pics of the atmosphere here and all cuss it's my first time trying, but deleted all and decided not to upload. Such a bad experience here. First thing I wanted to do when I got out is to post this. It was not busy at all, but these 3 ladies working were just done for today or something. Took about 20 minutes to get mine. Once I did, I had to go to corner for the lid and I almost slipped and spilled my coffee. The floor had syrup and so dirty even the counter was dirty. She did say sorry but didn't seem like sincere. They are doing too much chatting and not doing what they are suppose to do because the owner or the manager is not there?! I came out of the store so aggravated. Had high hope for this place, but I was wrong. I don't recommend this place. read more

We love the food and coffee at lofty. But for the third time we have had terrible wait times. The first time we came to sit and eat, the food took almost 30 minutes and we were already done with our coffee. Today we came in and food came out right away, but it's been over 30 minute wait for two cups of coffee. At this point our food is cold and no site of coffee. This is not the place to come for a quick bite and coffee. They could really work on getting their timing down. We would love to keep coming here, as our dog loves it and we live close, but the food is overpriced and the wait times make it impossible. read more

Excellent caffe mocha espresso and sea salt chocolate chip cookies with large chocolate chunks. Croissant egg sandwich is also very good (although don't bother asking for ketchup - this place doesn't have any). Very healthy, all fresh and organic ingredients used in everything. Great spot to get something to eat and drink while you charge your Tesla at the superchargers on site! Nice place. Good vibe. read more

Just left this location, second visit and second bad experience. I came in just at closing looking for a cup of black coffee. The rudest girl ever in the history of Lofty coffee informed me that she would NOT sell me the coffee without ice or she would have to charge me more ???? I even suggested that she not fill the cup all the way to the top with the coffee that she was getting rid of anyway if that would help since I did not want an iced coffee. She insisted it must have ice. I left with a $6 cup of ice with a splash of coffee. I'm still unclear as to the logic behind this but had she at least been kind I'm sure I'd not be writing this. The food, coffee and service were all good; however, the cashier made me feel like I was a burden for not tapping the card. My card doesn't have a tap option. I would expect to be treated a little better especially after spending over 50 dollars. read more

I can no longer recommend this place. I was charged $40 for two coffees and a salad, they left my French toast off and charged me anyway. When I asked about it they said it didn't get rang in but they can ring it in now? Wtf? They don't care clearly. read more

Most times they get things right here but today when I went in the three stooges were working. In the time that it took them to take care of peoples orders they managed to make cups of coffee for themselves and make fun of customers. I always thought--" customers first". I regularly visit the solana beach location. All around the excellent. I visited this store (La Costa) for the first time this morning - Significant difference. Doesn't even seem like the same brand. Staff were curt, bordering on rude. It seemed a burden to them to have customers visiting. Unfortunate how the fine Coffee/pastry that lofty is know for is made bitter by these difficult people. read more

I'm gonna start with great coffee, very lovely employees. However if you are looking for a quick cup on the go at a reasonable cost, THIS IS NOT YOUR COFFEE SHOP. Which for me is a mega bummer bc I work across the street. I have yet to have an experience where I get in and out in under 30 mins. Honestly, 30 mins, every time, it doesn't matter what time of day! Also have never once had my order done correctly. I not the type to make changes or substations, just a latte and a breakfast sandwich... the sandwich never comes. Maybe it's my fault bc I keep trying despite the fact that the only employees there, are again very polite, but also 16... so they really have no idea what's going on. There will be at any given point, 6 employees up front and one poor individual stuck in the kitchen cranking out an overly complicated menu. As a previous back of the house employe myself, it's really sad to see the struggle. My advice is if you're retired and have nothing but time, this will be a great experience for you. If you are a regular 9-5, shit to do, mover and shaker such as myself, look elsewhere. read more

This place was recommended by a friend but really nothing special. Americano was luke warm and watery. When mentioned to staff got attitude. Second time was better but for the price you pay for their products you'd expect better service. If you want a proper coffee just make the trip to Whole Foods and leave the Lofty attitude and prices for the tourists.. read more

Usually if a place has gross-tasting coffee it can be forgiven if there's plenty of power outlets and a decent atmosphere. This place has no power outlets and gross coffee. Employees seem either stoned or nervous. The cold grey walls decorated with an oversized gold plaque emblazoned with a vague mission statement make this truly a nihilistic cafe. I guess they're somewhat unique in that regard. read more

This was my first time coming here and I was honestly looking forward to trying a new coffee spot. But, it was not the best experience. I walked in and the ambiance was just off. When I got up to order, the guy's personality was stale and felt very off when I asked a couple questions about the coffee. I just ended up getting a basic iced nonfat latte but it came out hot instead of iced. The girl ended up making it over again but she seemed bothered by it. I also ordered a croissant but had to end up reminding the guy that I ordered and paid for one. This experience as a whole was just a turn off and I don't think I'm going to return back. The reason I ended up giving two stars instead of one is because they have decent coffee for decent pricing. But other than that, the experience I got was not the best. read more

I came here with a few friends to have coffee/tea and lunch. Very clean and tables placed at a good distance. However, the servers were a bit rude and the food was way overpriced for what you get. I got the side turkey sausage with my salad and it was two small round Jenny-O type breakfast sausages you find in your freezer section. The chai tea was horrible...tasted like watered down chai. The salad dressing was delicious tho! Won't be going back to this location unfortunately...maybe the servers were just having a bad day? read more

Lofty always delivers! Gorgeous new space; lots of natural light and high ceiling... outdoor seating as well. Very clean and friendly staff. Only downside is some constructionn in the plaza so need to enter/exit on La Costa. read more

This place is very poorly run. I've ordered online multiple times but whenever I go in nothing is ever ready on time. You have to let them know you are in the coffee shop in order for them to get started on your order. When I asked why I had to wait all the time the manager said it's for quality assurance. This Lofty is A-mazing! First of all, I love the service here. The staff are always really friendly and helpful, despite all the chaos of a pandemic. Secondly the coffee is delicious as is the food. I don't quite get why others complain about the cost of food. It's typical for this area. It's also really high quality and I don't mind paying higher prices to support a local business, especially during these times. So, time and again I want to give them another try...no longer! In the past, orders take forever and it's expensive, but good quality and convience kept us coming back. Today, we walked in 2 minutes after 3:00 for a cup of coffee. Waited in line, before we were told they close at 3 (on a Saturday.) Who could tell, by the way all the doors were wide open, music up, and they were still taking orders? Starbucks is across the street. read more

They need to hire. I waited 35 minutes for a turkey sandwich and 25 minutes for a coffee that was incorrect. Totally ridiculous. Coffee is too sweet tasting somehow. I'll stick with Leap and La Costa Roasters from now on. read more

I come here a few times a week and have had some bad experiences but today was unreal. One of the things I often notice is the girls gossiping about customers right there in the open which is just wild to me. I ordered my coffee and food ahead of time and my food was ready when I came in, the guy said my name loud enough for everyone to hear and look at me. Then, for the next 20 minutes I stood there (only person by the way) as more coffees were made and no one was showing up for them. There were three girls working and gossiping and frequently looking over at me. It was so obvious I was waiting on a coffee, not once did any of the girls say "have you been helped? Are you waiting on something?" The guy also came out of the kitchen, saw I was still standing there and just gave a weird look and said nothing. I just could not believe the complete lack of professionalism and lack of care. I finally walked up and asked where my coffee was and sure enough my name was printed on a receipt that they just kept passing by, the girl told me I need to click on the app for it to be made ASAP if I want it ASAP....what? So if I don't click ASAP I wait 30 minutes for my drink? Ordered on the app at 11:15 and did not have my coffee in hand until 11:45. I don't know how I can possibly continue to support a business that clearly could care less about regulars or anyone else for that matter. read more

The manager, Taylor, is always on his A-game. He is always kind, says hello, is on top of the orders and the staff. The staff has been such a mess over there, mostly young kids, a lot of mistakes get made. Lofty is known for excellent food and coffee, but this location has seen some struggles, it's nice to see that some of the managers have stuck it out. Tried them for the first time. Loved their coffee & pastries. Why 3 stars? What an uncomfortable atmosphere! They keep both the front and back doors open causing the wind to rip through there. It's like a meat locker. They say they keep the front doors open because they "are new and want people to know they are open." Then market better. Don't make your customers pay for it. But why keep the back doors open to cause a wind tunnel? So IF we ever return, we'll have to bring blankets. What a shame. (And we even say employees working with coats on.) If it were not for the fact of good coffee & pastries I'd give it one star. And if I could go in and be comfortable, I might give 5 stars. I called and asked and they said one could request the doors be closed but why should that burden be on the customer? read more

Typically when I get here, the service was always amazing and the staff always made me feel welcomed. However, this day wasn't the case. Instead of going to place an order, I decided to place an order online this time as I was in a urgent need to be on the road. When I placed an order, I didn't want my drink to be made immediately since I had other places to stop before heading to Lofty Coffee so I placed it to be made at a specific time which is 9:15 am. I arrived a couple minutes early and it was super crowded and my drink wasn't made which was understandable. I assumed that they were super busy and they were backed up with orders. 9:15 am came around and still no drink which is still no problem with the current foot traffic. However, five minutes after I saw the staff to relax a bit, even goof off which I started getting confused. I decided to wait five more minutes and still no drink. When I saw there were no more drinks coming out to go, I decided to ask. It turned out my order was just sitting off to the side which puzzled me. Then the person said if I wanted my drink immediately, I should've chose ASAP on my online order which wasn't the case. I explained that I wanted my drink at 9:15 am and specifically chose this time as I'll be on the road and didn't have time to wait and I needed to hit other places on the way. I'm typically a patient person when waiting, but it was the response from the staff that made me feel bad for ordering a specific time. I wouldn't mind if the staff responded by sincerely apologizing for the inconvenience or checked in on me while I was waiting a long time, but instead I was met with an attitude and a "sorry" that didn't feel that it was real. I left 15 minutes later than I had intended to and a staff that made me feel bad for ordering differently. read more

Not the place to order a mobile order. I submitted an order online and then came 10 mins later only to stand outside for over 20 mins. Good coffee but if they are going to have the mobile option it should come with the caveat that it doesn't come before all the other orders behind it. read more
