Went in with a family of 5 on a Saturday at lunch. Was told we would be seated at a small table for 4. Went to the table and the fifth chair was blocking a walkway. We asked for another table and were basically brushed off. We would've been ok with waiting, but we felt like we were putting them out. So we left. Very disappointed in the service. I can't say that I am a fan nor will I return here. You can hardly move between the tables and the service is mediocre at best. WOW!!! First time, out of towner, and ordered the chicken friend steak after reading reviews and seeing their video of how it was made..and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! In a word, "YUM!!" White gravy on the side was wonderful, and it also came with a side salad (note: the avocado ranch dressing tasted homemade with chunks of fresh bacon bits in it..get it!!) AWESOME! When you first walk in there is a near little " market" area where you can buy the most delectable food this side of I -10. Our go to spot when visiting Ruston. They have a variety of meals on the menu. The baked fish, Mexican food, Ribs, and steaks are worth trying. I am sure the other items a just as tasty. There is essentially no room for waiting yet one must wait to be seated. Once seated we soon placed our order and waited for our dinner to be served. We waited. And waited. And waited some more. It seemed like an eternity had gone by yet our food NEVER arrived. The waitress kept our glasses full but she NEVER served our food. The final straw occurred when we saw that the people at the table behind us, they arrived well after we did, received their complete dinner while we were yet waiting for ours. I spent the first few moments after receiving my meal trying to figure out why the shrimp looked so good but smelled like burnt rubber. Then I remembered the one time a recipe I was making called for "liquid smoke" and after smelling the stuff I vowed never to use it. I'm 99% sure that the shrimp was saturated in liquid smoke. I was starving because I'd been on the road seven hours (NOLA to Lumberton to Ruston), and managed six bites before I completely lost my appetite. Good thing I had the float before the meal. My boyfriend had a burger. The waitress said they could only make it well done, but that it was still good. This should have been a huge red flag, but he agreed to it and was equally as disappointed as I was. My brother had a mediocre poboy and couldn't finish the beans. So, I'm very sad that my family didn't try this place sooner. We had dinner here last night (10-10-18) and it was delicious; the service was great, and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. The menu is huge and has so many wonderful sounding dishes to choose from. We loved everything we ate, but there were a few standouts. My husband ordered the sirloin. It was cooked perfectly and had a delicious smoky/grilled flavor. It definitely wasn't just thrown on a flat-top. I ordered the pork chops. Wow!! I'm so glad I did. Some of the best I've ever eaten. They also had a wonderful smoky flavor and were so juicy. Pork chops can be a hard thing not to over cook. These guys do them perfectly! I ordered the potato salad as my side and it was very good too. We also ordered 4 desserts: turtle cheesecake, the exploding brownie (brownies with ice cream), bourbon pecan pie, and Oreo bread pudding with ice cream. They were all exceptional but the bread pudding was my favorite by far. In closing, let me just say, we can't wait to go back.
