It's been kind of rough finding a place to enjoy food that is fresh and not overpriced. I avoided this restaurant because I don't go out to eat Italian food being Italian. I'm super picky and I make enough Italian food at home that I like to go out and eat things that I don't normally make myself. But a friend of mine wanted to go there so we did and I'm so glad! I walked in and saw the black tablecloths and thought well it's probably gonna be overpriced and like most Italian restaurants I'm not gonna like the food but I will enjoy the company. The menu is filled with so many non-Italian options. Watching the food come out of the kitchen and go to different tables. It was hard because everything looked so good and presented so well. I hadn't had fish tacos in about a year other than the ones I've made at home and mine are not the greatest! Haven't figured out the sauce yet anyway these were unlike anything I've ever tried before, but definitely delicious. I ordered french fries because it came with chips which I thought was kind of weird. It still is kind of an odd option to go with fish tacos, but my girlfriend across the table for me got these homemade chips so much that she had to take them home and they're delicious! French fries were fine. They weren't anything over the top special but they were good dipped in their homemade blue cheese! So good! After everybody got there first entrée, I was so hungry and watching her eat her side salad I ordered one. It's not huge, but it's fresh and it's four dollars! Seriously I couldn't believe how good it was. I love blue cheese and when she told me it was homemade I was skeptical. Definitely delicious. All three of us really enjoyed our food. Our waitress was real attentive. The restaurant was not overly full, but it was busy. The inside is clean and beautiful. I found another gem! There's not many of them here, but this is definitely one of them! Looking forward to my next date night I'm gonna get my hubby to try it. He's gonna love this place.

It was our first dinner spot on the trip (plus a few repeats) since then. The service is always great, food is always hot, and the kitchen/restaurant is always clean. The dishes are made differently from other restaurants with an influence from southern Italy where the owners Grandmother was from. The baked pasta is a mix of savory, well seasoned, and yummy pasta and a hot dish. Perfect for after a ski trip or rainy day. I am also a fan of the antipasto salad. It has a great crunch, tastes fresh, and is cold (feeling like they prepare it and bring it out right away). Honestly, I ate too much because it was so good . This last trip, Heaven, was our waitress. She was friendly, personable, and had an excellent memory for our experience. All of our food came out hot and together. The restaurant was packed full of people. Highly recommend for anyone staying, stopping, or existing in town.

That said, for an Italian restaurant, the appetizer menu felt a little confusing. Seeing items like a baked potato and chicken tenders listed alongside the Italian dishes threw off the theme. Classics like bruschetta, arancini, or other traditional starters would fit the menu much more naturally and elevate the overall experience. The lasagna itself was delicious -- rich, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The only challenge was the presentation. Serving it in a ramekin made it harder to cut and enjoy. A plate would make the dish much easier to eat and let the layers shine the way they're meant to. Overall, it's a lovely restaurant with great service and strong potential. A few thoughtful tweaks to the menu and presentation would make the experience even better.

Either the bread, the condiments, the temperature (what's with heating the sandwiches) something is always wrong. Originally I am from northern New Jersey so I am used to NYC style delis, which consistently speaking, are the best in the country. That's how sandwiches should be. Anyway, ole girl and I were doing a road trip, this place had good reviews. The sandwich was absolutely delicious and made with LOVE! I would absolutely go back, and absolutely highest recco! I certainly did not expect to find morels or lion's mane mushrooms! I got two sandwiches and a pickle from the deli. The pickle had a good snap and wasn't overly salted or spiced. It was refreshing on the trail. The sandwiches I picked out were the Gratiot River and the Brockway Mountain. I liked the Gratiot River more as the avocado gave the sandwich good moisture, while the Brockway Mountain was rather dry. They were well packaged for portability. The bulk foods section is extensive, and they have a good variety of snacks and frozen food that punches above its weight given the smaller size of the store. If you're in town, definitely stop by to pick up something new!

The place has been around for decades, and the experience reflects that kind of stability and familiarity. On the food side, I ordered the Lasagne Dinner, which is a verified menu item, along with garlic bread. The lasagne is exactly the kind of old-school Italian-American comfort food that works best in a place like this. The layers hold together properly instead of collapsing into sauce, the cheese has a rich baked texture without becoming oily, and the meat sauce has a slow-cooked flavor that feels consistent rather than rushed. The garlic bread also deserves mention because it comes out with a crisp edge and soft center that actually complements the heavier pasta dishes instead of just sitting on the side untouched. Service is one of the restaurant's strongest qualities. The pacing feels experienced rather than scripted. Staff know how to handle regulars, larger dinner rushes, and slower tables without making the room feel chaotic. Refills, check-ins, and food timing all happen naturally, which gives the place a much more relaxed rhythm than newer restaurants trying too hard to feel upscale. The ambiance is a huge part of why the restaurant works. The interior has that older Italian restaurant warmth with dimmer lighting, darker furnishings, and a dining room that feels lived-in rather than renovated for trends. It is comfortable in a way that makes people stay longer than they planned to. The atmosphere feels personal and local instead of corporate or interchangeable. Overall, this is one of the more complete dining experiences in the area. The food is deeply consistent, the service feels experienced and natural, and the atmosphere has enough character that the restaurant stays memorable long after the meal is over.
