This is my favorite eatery in Houston. It reminds me of so many things that make me smile. First dates, takeout when I just want something good to eat, regardless of the meal, breakfast lunch or dinner and any day of the week. The sisters do a great job of making food to order and the prices are great. The place just makes me smile because it's welcoming and my whole family loves their brown gravy on everything we eat. This place is deep an a neighborhood in acres homes so you might think you're lost when you're going to it. The exterior doesn't look like much either as it appears to be a hodge podge of buildings and add-ons. If it's early enough, the lobby won't be open (opens at 10am). For a place that serves a lot of breakfast, I was surprised it opened up at 9am and not earlier. Their menus are posted on the wall around the ordering window and honestly, I couldn't make sense of them. I needed help. And it seems like a guarantee your food is cooked to order and is going to come in a styrofoam container unless many of you eat in the lobby. All that to say this food was delicious. I had a protein they called "big Mike" which were little tender nuggets of fried pork that was light and tasty. My grits were well salted and cooked. My hash brown reminded me of the classic one from McDonalds but way better, clearly hand made. None of it was greasy at all. This place gives me greasy spoon vibes in the best way. read more

Each plate is made to order, a definite off the beaten path kind of place but the 2 pork chop dinner was served with a generous portion of okra (a slight up charge but great value) & a nice small salad to lighten the meal. Dead set in the middle of Acres Homes, and tucked away in a neighborhood, Log Cabin is one of those places you have to know about, to know about. It will absolutely be visited on EVERY Houston trip. We went for "breakfast buffet". And apparently they just raised their prices, but for $7.. shit, I'd have paid at least $10 for this in Austin, and have gotten no where NEAR the quality and taste I got here. Its not your traditional buffet line however. You are seated, and they come to you. Once you order your buffet, they cook everything you want from the buffet options, and bring it TO you. All of your sides/meats come out first. Normally, that'd send my OCD into overdrive, but after consuming the amount of food I did, I only could handle ONE pancake @ the end! LOL Buffet plate came with biscuit, eggs, fried pork chop, sausage, bacon, grits and coffee. Water or anything else to drink was extra. Cooked however you wanted! You could get endless eggs, pork chops (which were DAMN good too, I might add) Towards the end, they bring out the pancakes which also happen to be the size of your plate. Sweet Jesus, they were delicious cakes. Breakfast was ON POINT. I grabbed a few of their cakes for $1 each on the way out, and we were set!! Its a dive. Its an establishment that has been making bellies happy for what looks like 30 years, and never once stopped to consider interior design. Its NOT needed. There are houses nearby on the same street. Lots of these residents have horses in their yards as Log Cabin did. Great customer service. Very personable staff. It was 2 twin sisters cooking and their niece as the cashier. Their combos are a reasonable price and have a good amount of food. The owner came out from cooking and smiled as she said, "hello!". It looked like her son or nephew possibly was handling the cash register & he was so polite.
