Lokey Kia earns it's low ratings. I took my car in because of a check engine light. There are also recalls on the engine and I bought the car used so I asked them to first ensure the recall updates had been performed and confirm the issue I'm seeing is not related to the recalls before doing further diagnosis. Before going in, I pulled the kia diagnosis and repair procedure from Alldata so I had a good understanding of what the likely solutions were and I was prepared to spend a good chunk of money on an engine repair. If I had the tools and an appropriate place to work, I might have tried doing it myself but, in this case, decided to go with a professional. I decided to try the dealership to ensure my issue was not recall-related and because the repair would require a partial teardown of the engine and could get a bit complicated. However, I found the service advisor, Horacio Lomas, rather obnoxious, condescending and dismissive. He is likely used to dealing with people who don't know anything at all about working on cars. At one point, he began throwing around random technical jargon as if he knew what the words actually meant but he clearly didn't comprehend the questions and concerns I presented him with. I thought about asking to speak with a mechanic instead of a salesman but figured they probably wouldn't let me. I decided to leave and find an independent mechanic. Not a complete review because we looked at cars here, but didn't buy one. Interestingly, the people were very nice and accommodating. It was also nice that Lokey Kia offers free oil changes for the life of any car they sell. However, we were looking at a Kia with a $17,000 sticker price and it also had a dealer "add on" sticker for an additional $3,000 in "Lokey Market Adjustment" -- i.e., additional dealer profit. Is a Kia Forte such a hot car that they can charge an extra $3k OVER sticker? The salesman acted like this was not really negotiable... I find that a litlte insulting. I can buy a $50k BMW for thousands under the sticker price. I am not going to pay a 15% premium over sticker price on a Kia. UPDATE: We purchased a Hyundai Elantra (a little bigger than the Forte) across the street. The initial asking price was $2k UNDER sticker. Kia and Hyundai are sister companies, and the cars are very similar with identical warranties. Is the Kia worth a $5k premium? 30% more? I like the people at Lokey Kia and I hope they get their fees down and sell cars at sticker price like the rest of the world. SECOND UPDATE: I appreciate the kind response from the dealer. When you buy a car there you get complimentary oil changes but the hassle is barely worth it. I had a 130 pm appointment. I needed my oil change and whatever else they need to do at my scheduled service. I have to ask for washer fluid to be topped off every time or they don't do it even though it's in the system check off list. Same with windshield wipers they told me they were fine the time before but I was getting streaky mess every time I used them. They told me I didn't need them this time as well. I had them change them. Luckily though they did check My battery and it didn't pass after 4 years so they did replace it. The only good thing that was done today. Oh and I didn't get out of there until after 4 pm!! They knew I was waiting for the car there. Every other dealership I've been to tries to do the cars of those waiting there first but not Lokey Kia So I would say the service could be much better read more

2018: Worst car buying experience I have ever been through. My boyfriend and I both bought brand new 2018 Kia Optimas. We each spent several hours at the dealership, over several days, being mostly left in the dark as far as what was being done by the sales/finance managers, behind the scenes, but being promised that everything would be just what we wanted. Then I was told my financing terms would be one thing, but when the final paperwork came in the mail, the terms weren't what they told me they would be would be. When it came time to pick up the cars, both were promised to be ready by the time we got off of work, but my boyfriend ended up waiting around the dealership another 3 hours for his car to be detailed. My car was delivered to me with a slice in the steering wheel. I was told I'm going to have to miss work in order to bring the vehicle in to have it repaired because Lokey will not offer a loaner car. Then after all the paperwork was signed and cars were delivered, it mysteriously took them almost a month to send the payoff check for my boyfriend's trade. He had to provide documentation more than twice because they somehow lost it. In the meantime he was getting notices advising that he was late on his payment. Whenever we called, emailed, or texted to inquire as to what was going on, most went unanswered and unreturned. My boyfriend had to actually drive to the dealership to actually talk to someone about the payoff for his trade and he was told it would be sent within 3-4 days (this is after it had already been over 2 weeks). They actually did not send the check for another 11 days. This is quite possibly the worst customer service we have ever received from a car dealer. We will never purchase cars from Lokey again. --------------- Update 11/16/19: Lifetime oil changes are not a perk! Please save yourself from the aggravation of the service center! Each time we have taken our vehicles in to have either oil changes or warranty work done something has happened. My windshield had to be replaced because they put a big, deep scratch in it. I was quickly put into my car and told my service was done. When I sat in my car and started to move forward, I immediately saw the scratch. I went back and said something to the service center and of course they acted like they didn't know anything about it. How did they not see that it was right in the vision of the driver? They did replace the windshield without hassle, so I will give them that. My boyfriend took his vehicle in for an oil change, and a detail, when we got the car back from them we noticed that there were black marks all over the front end of his white car. We tried to wipe them off,w by they could not be wiped off. I emailed the photos to the service center, they told us to bring it back in. Honestly we haven't taking it back in because, it's not worth the hassle. Today I went in for an oil change and ask them to vacuum my car. I was rushed to my car and told my service was complete. When the service advisor opened the door I noticed that the car had not been vacuumed well. They vacuumed the floor mats, but not underneath. I opened the back door and immediately realized they had not even touched the back floor boards. read more

We bought our new Telluride from Lokey the end of September. We have zero complaints about the vehicle itself. It is an amazing suv. However, there were bad scratches on the passenger side panels and the new suv came with only one key. Our salesman promised a new key as well as unlimited details for the Telluride. We were also assured that the panels would be replaced immediately and that we would be called when the key and the replacement parts came in. Two weeks passed and we never received a call on either. I finally called the dealership only to be informed that my salesman had the key in his car. I tried calling him but never received a response. I dropped by the dealership twice but he was never in and neither was our key. Finally I asked the dealership if they could have him leave the key at the manager counter. They did, and on my third stop at the dealership and after more than two weeks of getting the run around I finally received our second key. The replacement parts for our Telluride were even more frustrating. I kept calling Kia to check on parts and finally I was informed that they had come in. We booked an appointment with service. I dropped the Telluride at Kia, ubered to work, received a call telling me that the work on the Telluride was complete, ubered back to Kia, and then discovered that absolutely nothing had been done. The service manager was baffled by my discovered and inquired of his department what had happened. He then informed me that not all the necessary parts had come in so we would have to come back another time. "We will call you when the new parts come in." For more than two weeks I waited on a call but none came. Finally I called them again and was informed that the parts had come in. I booked an appointment for Tuesday afternoon, November 19 for the Telluride to be worked on and I scheduled a detail to follow. We never received a call on Tuesday that the work had been completed. So we came back on Wednesday morning to find that the work had not been completed. It would seem that the salesman lied about "unlimited details," that there is extremely poor communication between the varied departments, and that the objective at Lokey Kia is just to get a sale. read more

SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES ALERT! I came in for recalls on my car and NOTHING ELSE and wondered while I was driving away WHY I had a 78.00 bill since everything was supposed to be covered under the warranty. Maybe it was some odd service fee? Nope. They gave me an oil change I never requested for (no signed authorization) or was even spoken of even one time. When I say NOT ONCE I mean NOT ONCE. I drove back and the nasty dwarf was lying through his teeth about me saying I requested it TWICE... and he lied about an antifreeze smell as well even after I refused the car inspection to begin with. I just got back from getting the system fully checked (sabotage anyone?) and flushed out by my super honest mechanic David at Mavis on Gulf to Bay. Result? Nothing wrong with the system and no leaks... and 18k miles too early to be done to begin with... and their "brutal loser of a lifetime" mechanic left oil all over the drip plate that my guy had to clean off. These guys have tons of bad reviews (I read them before going) especially over the last 6 months and it's WHY I wanted to get out of there financially unscathed. There's nothing worse in this life than people trying to take advantage like that. U got a quota to fill? Well, I just don't give a rodents fart about that. I just contacted Kia National to alert them of this dealership's lack of business ethics. Service takes FOREVER! The customer waits 2-4 weeks for an appointment. Somebody needs to tell KIA that we cannot predict when our vehicle malfunctions and waiting many days for an appointment is ludicrous. The service folks on the phone are zero help; in fact, they manage to infuriate the customer more so with the lack of help. KIA sells the car with good service but seems completely unable to service the car afterwards and cannot offer that service in a timely manner. I'm currently going to sell my KIA and buy from another manufacturer with better service - it is that painful dealing with KIA service (my fault for not investigating KIA service before buying the vehicle). read more

No pressure and quite knowledgeable about the products, warranty, etc. I had done a lot of research on prices and availability and not once was he snarky about it! In fact he helped me locate the color and features I desired. I also wanted leather seats (I keep a car for 10 years) and he made it happen. If you need a car, go to any other dealership that does not have Lokey in the name. I had a three year lease for a 2015 KIA Soul that I had gotten from Lokey Kia, and the lease was at its end. I came in and explained that I was either going to buy out the car or buy a new car depending on the deal that the dealership could give me on a new car vs buying out the current lease. I explained the price range that I could pay per month as well as how much I would be willing to put down on either the new or now used car. I was told by the Sales Manager after going back and forth with negotiating price that, if I bought a new car with them, my excess mileage charge would be waived as well as the disposition fee on the lease because I'm buying a car with the same dealership that I leased from. The Sales Manager had guaranteed me a monthly payment under $220 on a new 2019 Kia Soul. I thanked him and said I would purchase the car and then was left to wait for the next hour to speak to the finance department. When I finally got into the finance department, I was told by the gentleman that I would be paying a monthly payment higher than what was agreed upon on the sales floor. I told him that was unacceptable and that I was promised monthly payments of under $220, which was physically written down by Lokey Kia's own sales manager. I was told by the finance department that they are the "finance" part, not the "sales" part of the Lokey Kia dealership and therefore there is only so much he can do and that he can't deliver on what the "sales" department promised. I explained that that was unacceptable. I don't care who is in which department, you are all representing Lokey Kia so the deal that was made on the sales floor needs to be honored. After going back and forth with "finance" they magically were able to give me the price that was promised, love that I had to argue for a full half an hour with someone who was clearly lying to my face about his "inability" to honor the deal from the sales floor but then can magically produce that deal once pressured. Great customer service you have there, Lokey. So after purchasing the vehicle for the promised and agreed to price that took 6 hours out of my day and over a half hour of arguing about something that was already promised and done, I then get a lovely bill from Kia Motors Finance for $1200 dollars. This $1200 dollars includes the excess mileage charge (that I was told by Lokey Kia sales and finance would be waived since I bought a car from them) and the disposition fee (that I was told by Lokey Kia sales and finance would be waived since I bought that new car from the same place I leased from). I called Kia Motors Finance to dispute this only to be told that they are a completely different company than all of the Kia dealerships in the country and that I leased the car with them, not with Lokey Kia so therefore, I owe them money because those charges are not something that the dealership can just waive (how convenient). I explained that, you are all part of Kia. They're Kia. You're Kia. Enough with the "we're not with them" BS. You all work for Kia. So I called the dealership, explained the situation, and told them to pay their finance company. They made promises to me that they clearly had no authority to do, therefore they owe Kia Motors Finance $1200. I got a new bill from Kia Motors Finance today for $750. They credited the excess mileage but still want to charge a disposition fee. Again, I have to now go to the dealership and figure this out 3 MONTHS after the lease has ended. Bottom line: I will never do business with any Lokey dealership ever again. I'm done. I will also never lease or buy another Kia. Save yourself the hassle that both Kia and Lokey are making me go through so that they can suck every penny from their customers, and go to another manufacturer and dealership. read more

I was then approached by a guy I believe named Don and he first wanted to argue about the price of the car they have posted online. Then he was looking at the wrong model car. Then when I told him I just wanted to drive one today he said I should come back on another day when they weren't so busy even though there were at least 10 people working and just standing around. I tried to leave and he insisted that he wanted to look at the one I saw online when he found it he took forever trying to fine it and then couldn't. Just bought a certified pre-owned Vehicle from Jack Ekberg and it was a very good experience. Everyone in the process was very patient to answer all of my questions about finances for the car, maintenance schedules, warranty options, and were very generous in the negotiation process. They didn't pressure me into a new car, as I was adamant on a gently used car with one previous owner. It was a great circumstance they had exactly what I needed - plus the car had UV tint on the windows, which I expected to have to pay extra for after the sale, so I knew I had to snap this car up. They stayed late to make sure the sale was all set, they detailed the car and they even bought me lunch. I know there have been some bad reviews about the service department, but I look forward to being able to just do a quick drive up the street if I need service on the car versus having to drive about 45 minutes away, which I've been dealing with the past 5 years in my previous car. READ THIS REVIEW! I was coming to the end of a lease with KIA Finance and wanted to purchase the car. Unlike other states, in Florida you are required to do this via a dealer. The original lease was not with Lokey, rather with that "Friendly" KIA dealer in New Port Richey. Unlike the "Friendly" dealership, Lokey had made no money on my lease. "Friendly" and other dealers had tried to add various bogus and, frankly illegal (per the federal Consumer Leasing Act of 1976) charges to the buyout. At Lokey, Brandon Riggins and Ryan McMahan were courteous, efficient, and honest, even though the dealership would make no money on the buyout. The buyout was simply per the original lease contract and per federal law. No BS, no added charges. Just integrity, honesty, customer service, and good will, all qualities that put this dealership head and shoulders above any others that I have experienced in this area! read more

They completely wasted my time, they did the typical back and forth between the sales manager skit, and wouldn't give me a price, kept trying to distract me by focusing on the monthly payment, even though they jacked the MSRP up $7K. The seats they have you sit while going through this 2nd grade theater performance are NASTY... looks like they are 40 years old. Then they have you facing AWAY from the manager's "pit" so they can do their fake show without you seeing them faking it. This is an absolutely terrible dealership to work with. After test driving a Seltos, the salesman Ryan made an initial offer that was more than $10,000 above MSRP. I had already spoken with two other Kia dealerships in the area and was able to receive approximate out the door prices from both that were significantly more reasonable, although they were both waiting for shipments of the new year's model. When trying to negotiate, Ryan was rude, condescending, at at times outright insulting. Ultimately, I received a written offer from Friendly Kia later that day that was more than $6,000 better than Ryan's "best" price for the same exact car. Save yourself the trouble and make Friendly Kia your first stop and avoid this dealership. I doubt I will ever deal with any member of the Lokey dealership family again. read more

Buying the car was a great experience. After buying the car....not so great. My car ended up being totaled due to someone else's neglient driving and I was sent on a wild goose chase to get the service contract and maintenance extra garble that GAP doesn't cover canceled and have gotten the runaround from KIA twice. At first I was told that GAP would collect the amount for the canceled warranties, which turned out to be FALSE! I then contacted KIA again and was met on the phone by some overly empowered self-proclaimed manager who said his name was "Mark Richards". Doubtful that was his real name. He was unbelieveably rude and impatient and not at all helpful. Today I went to purchase a 2014 Kia Optima with my partner, we had previously been to one of their competitors and the experiences between the two dealerships were night and day. Ricky (our sales person), he was caring and forward upfront but did not use the same annoying high pressure tactics that you come to assume from a dealership. He was knowledgeable and really had concern that we left in the car we wanted. The entire process took one half the time that we were getting from their competitor, and the entire time all the Lokey staff were warm and treated us like friends. Not to mention that the prices were phenomenal; in the end before walking away Ricky made it a point to introduce us to the service area and the parts area... and finally we were seen off in the BEAUTIFUL BLACK 2014 Optima EX by not only Ricky but one of the managers as well. Amber Lobman was my sales associate from the minute I found a vehicle online that I was interested in. She immediately text me and was so friendly and flexible about meeting. When I went to test drive the car she let my four year old son play with a storm trooper and had the vehicle that I wanted ready and waiting for me. I test drove three vehicles that day and finally decided which one I wanted. Amber was so nice and helped me get the payment to a number that was affordable to me. I would recommend her to anyone who is looking to buy a vehicle. Not going to lie- I totally snapped at the finance guy because he was trying to up sale me on coverage, was pushy and wouldn't take no for an answer, but that's what they do so it was nothing personal. They had me in a 2016 Kia Sportage the same day! When I got home I realized that only one of my faabs worked for the Sportage, Amber had me bring it back the next day and they took care of it for me. Extremely slow service, my car has been in there for 3 months so far for the engine problem, my car is a 2020, only two years old. Every time I call I feel I'm brushed off. The people at Lokey Kia blame a higher department in Kia as this cycle is under warranty and before they can replace an engine they need ok from the higher department. I guess the higher department is telling them things to check and change before replacing the entire engine, which is fine, however 3 months and waiting is completely ridiculous. Also I was originally told the problem was pest related as there was a nest in the hood so insurance would cover it. I got a rental car. Turns out the problem wasn't pest related and now insurance won't cover and I had to pay $900 for the rental. I'm being told the warranty should cover some but this shouldn't have been a problem in the first place. It feel unorganized, hectic and that they don't really care. read more

Just went up and talked to "Jeff". He gave me a Soft quote on the phone of about 15.4k for a new Kia Soul that was listed as 13.3k on their website with current rebates. He knew I was not a Kia customer since we discussed the Mini Cooper I was driving. The price after their ridiculous back and forth scribbling on paper to the manager went from 18.5k to 16.5k because the Tag and Title were going to be $700 on a new tag. Just called the DMV, it is $225 for that vehicle. It is sad the games people play with people's time. Do not play their games. I physically can't express how good my experience was at Lowkey Kia. The salesman that sold me my K5, Robert, is incredible! He was so accommodating, friendly and helpful from start to finish. As a first time buyer, I knew nothing about the car buying process and he never hesitated to answer a phone call or text to help with a question I had. There wasn't one point in this deal where I felt unsure, worried or pushed to make a decision. When the time comes for an upgrade, I will hands down go back to Robert and I'd recommend every and anyone to do the same. read more
