I have been to their Santa Barbara location. I was not aware that they have another location. I am glad that I found this hidden gem. I had a great experience in this location too. For service, I would say that staff are nice and friendly. They answered all of our questions and made suggestions to what to order. For food, I would say Baklava was amazing. What a nice surprise this ended up being. On top of the decadent pastries, starting with the pistachio roll that I had to try, I could've spent all day in here, trying samples. I finally tried real Turkish Delight and...yep, I totally get why Edmund sold out his siblings for it. (Forgive the Narnia reference, but it had to be said.) Lokum offers fresh, handmade Turkish Delight in in a cafe type of setting. Sold by the slice, you can build your own box similar to how you would in a chocolate or candy shop. There are so many different goodies to choose from not only traditional Turkish Delights but also various flavors of baklavas, which we were more than happy to indulge in. Our favorites from the baklavas included the chocolate and walnut, while for Turkish Delights, we really enjoyed the Kadaif Covered Pistachio Cream and Walnut and Fig Covered ones. My only regret was not realizing after we paid, we had gotten so excited over our order that we totally skipped over the original Turkish Delights, which warrants a small facepalm. That just means I'll have to return to try them next time I'm in the area! Service was friendly and patient, allowing for small samples and taking their time to explain their different flavors and recommendations. Knowing I was coming to town and love a good coffee, I quickly fixated on Lokum--a big fan of Turkish delights, it seemed like a natural fit. Firstly, it's gorgeous inside. You can get lost in the various chandeliers and other lighting fixtures. The various culinary offerings are their own bejeweled displays. The Turkish delights are fantastic. Because it was so late in the day, I did not get a coffee and am kicking myself now because it's not like I live in the area! Downsides are thus: service is not personable, and I went mostly ignored. It's very warm inside and they could benefit from a fan or two to keep some air moving. The Turkish delights are expensive--worth it, but I couldn't make it a regular stop if I were a local. I'm not 100% sure if I actually like Turkish delight. I definitely think Narnia overhyped it for me! But I was excited to try the Turkish coffee. I ordered the Ottoman style, which had some different flavor notes, and it sounded interesting. The woman behind the counter said that I could sit anywhere and she would bring it out to me. The coffee comes with a small Turkish delight and a glass of water. It was beautifully served on a tray. I think there is an option to get the coffee sweetened, but I went for it without that. What I really like about this place is they offer trial samples since the variety can be so unique and the desserts are often things you may have never tried before. A surprising find in downtown SLO, Lokum offers traditional Turkish delights in a beautiful cafe / store. It really feels like you are transported to Turkey from the moment you walk in with the lighting, decor, and music. Staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They will provide small samples of any of the Turkish delights. The Turkish delights are similar to fudge, and sold by about 1/2 inch slices that are charged by weight (~$3-4 per slice). They have many different flavor and texture profiles ranging from chocolate to fruit to nuts. They also serve breakfast, cakes, and other Turkish pastries. Wide selection of Turkish sweets, each piece can range from $3.75 for a pistachio baklava to $5.50 and higher for individual pieces. It went really well with the apple flavored Turkish delight since the coffee wasn't too sweet. Saw this place pop up on social media and was always curious to try it. I've been to Turkey before and loved their baklavas and tea, so I wanted to see if this place was similar. The interior of the shop was really cute and had a lot of Turkish artifacts (chandeliers, tea cups, etc) for sale. When we were walking in Downtown San Luis Obispo, I noticed a beautiful store with colorful Turkish lanterns, so we went inside and found LOKUM.
