Update: Had my first bad experience with lola bells pet grooming!! My baby went to get groomed and basically she was sent home with this ! I wasn't gonna post at first but when I took her back to physically show them I did get an apology with no future resolution or discounts ( not that she will be going back ) she whined to stay for doggy daycare which I obliged but that will be the last interaction with them. She basically said she used the wrong blade and what she was given was a schnauzer cut and basically stated thats what it was supposed to look like ! It was uneven and all. Think they offered a discount on future service or I received a follow up call ? Nope ! And paid 100.00 . The groomers literally do what they want to do. I took my 9month and a 12 week old toy poodles for a teddy bear cut she asked if I wanted to cut some hair? I said a little and leave the tails that lady shaved my puppies all the way down in the middle and left all the hair one their legs and butt and arms this is by far the worst hair cut I ever seen on any dog. I'll be back with an update on how they choose to fix the issue. May I add I googled every teddy bear cut thats offered nothing looks like what they have done to my babies it's terrible. read more

My husband's coworker recommended this place to us because our vet has had so much trouble keeping groomers on staff. I took my dog Maggie today, which they very quickly fit in, and I have nothing but very wonderful things to say. The ladies who worked there were very sweet and communicative, both before and after. They also put bows in her hair, which I wasn't expecting, but amusing nonetheless! The prices were also great, which is definitely a plus. The weird part about all these negative reviews is that if you go in, they have signs of all the Nappies they've won, even as recently as 2020. Anyway, highly recommend them. Below is my response to Lola Bella's rude response to my review on Google. First, I would like to say that I did not leave a negative comment. I personally called them to explain my issues with my service. I did not expect to receive a rude response from them on this review. I have taken my Yorkie to them for 3 years. I have never made a negative comment or left a review. I have repeatedly given them the benefit of the doubt even when they cut my dog's nails so short that he bled all over me and my car. I gave them the benefit of doubt because I know that my puppy can be difficult. I no longer feel that way because of the negative response from Lola Bella's. Here are the facts of what really happened. I requested my dog receive a haircut as short as possible, but I stated I wanted him to keep a short skirt. I repeated this three times because the last few times they did not cut his skirt. When I picked my dog up he was shaved with no skirt. I called and expressed my concern about how awful he looks. The groomer stated she over heard me talking to the secretary and just took it upon her self to shave him with out calling me to clarify. If she thought she had misunderstood me she should have called instead of shaving my dog. In the rude message they sent me they stated I should have communicated to the secretary better but the the truth of the matter is that the groomer over heard half of the conversation and took it upon her self to do what she wanted and then became rude when I left them a one star review. I have been using Lola Bell's for my Cocker Spaniel for about a year now. I've always been satisfied with his cut until now. I get him a short full shave summer cut around this time every year. They did his last time and it was fine. I picked him up from this past hair cut, he was squirming to get out of the woman's arms and get back to me. He acted very nervous and anxious and was shaking. To top it all off they ruined his hair. I can't even let him stay outside long now due to fear of him getting sunburnt, they shaved him so short in some places it is bare skin. These people are dangerous to pets! I had a problem where they cut my shihtzu's dew claw almost off! I picked her up and they said nothing but when we got home there was blood everywhere in the car. She had to be rushed to the vet and had to have emergency surgery to remove the dew claw and stop the bleeding. They never said I'm sorry much less pay anything towards the surgery! They told me they didn't have any insurance to cover that! I have never been back. They need to be closed down!!! If there were a way to give them negative stars, I would give them 5 negative stars. Lost a dog that was boarded here and never left a VM or sent a text. No FB post of the lost dog! How do you lose a dog if you are a pet motel "standing outside watching the dogs?" I have been by this place many times and have never seen anyone outside. Clearly, they don't have a fence that is deep enough and staff that is reliable. Over priced and rude staff. They told me he wasn't allowed back because he was "really difficult", we didn't plan on returning anyways. My cat was literally so upset when he left and they claimed he bit them. He has never bitten me or anyone else while bathing or cutting his nails, so something must have happened that wasn't said. The fact that they are still in business is either a testament to their business smarts or a testament to their current customer base being very naive. What a disappointment. I took my 10 month old cavapoo to Lola Bells today because we couldn't get in with our regular sweet groomer. The lady at the front asked what I wanted. I told her there were a few mats on her ears and she said I only feel a few on her back we will make sure she gets a cute cut! picked her up 3 hours later and she was COMPLETELY BALD. no one called me once to ask if they could completely shave her and then they charged me $120!!!!!!! The shampoo and delicious smell were great! My Charlie looked beautiful! He was so white and so so so soft! But when we got home and I looked at his cut, his belly was so jagged up! I do understand that a large dog is a challenge, but for $115 I do expect a smooth and decent cut. His underside is long in some spots and short in others and shaved in other spots. Under his arms were left totally long, which adds to matting (which I constantly fight daily). The staff was super nice and I am not trying to be ugly, just honest. My life was threatened, with a gun, because I inquired about a price discrepancy. I want to recall this incident so that people can make informed decisions about where they spend their money. On 7/16/2020, my partner, Tempey, & I dropped our yorkie-poo, Kujo, at Lola Bell's for a haircut. Upon arrival, Tempey was told that she could not receive an exact price as pricing varies based on multiple factors such as if the dog is matted & the dog's behavior. Our appointment was at 10:30am. By 2:45pm, we grew concerned & called for an ETA. A staff member hastily reported Kujo was not ready & they'd call when he was. After that interaction we'd agreed that we would not be returning due to the poor customer service. Upon arrival, we observed a sign that indicated only 1 person was permitted inside at a time. Two women (with two separate transactions) were inside of the establishment picking up their pets. The front desk associate motioned for us to enter. The associate reported that Kujo's behavior had been great & that he did not have any matts or fleas. She reported our total as $45. I inquired about the pricing system & base price. The associate stated the groomer determines the price & it is based on the factors mentioned. When the groomer appeared, we again asked what factors were used to determine the price given & what was the base price. The groomer stated, the behavior, the condition of the dog, the size, & time it takes for the haircut. The indicated factors of increased pricing did not apply to Kujo. The groomer continued to repeat, "It's $45, period." I advocated for the importance of having a base price so that customers know what price to expect. The owner then put her finger in my face & shouted, "You need to calm down!" I matched the groomer's tone, & told her not to put her finger in my face. The owner repeated the gesture & stated that she was going to get help. Two additional employees, a man & a woman, emerged from the back to record the incident on their cell phones. In disbelief Tempey said, "Wow, they're recording us." The man exclaimed, "That's what y'all do to us!". Tempey requested to speak with a manager. The groomer asserted that she is the owner of the establishment. The owner then told us, "I could have charged you $55." Tempey indicated that we wouldn't have paid for the service at that price. The owner addressed me again to remind me she already told me what I needed to do & began telling me to leave because I was not supposed to be inside, per the sign on the gate. I continued to request my dog. The owner continued to antagonize me; the man recording started to verbally engage by taunting me. The man told me to Shut the fuck up, pay, & get out of here. Tempey then directed her attention to the man, matched his tone, & demanded that he not speak to me in that way. The man then stepped to Tempey's face, removed his face mask, & screamed for us to leave the property. The man was, at most, two inches from her face. Simultaneously, the owner called the police. The man asserted that we'd be arrested for disorderly conduct. I requested my dog and encouraged them to call the police. The man aggressively approached me forcing me out of the front gate. I remained outside of the gate demanding my dog. The man returned to Tempey's personal space & exclaimed that he was going to get his gun. Tempey stated, "If you feel that is appropriate, go get your gun; do whatever you feel is appropriate." The man told her to get off of his property so that he could show her what he'd do with his gun. The man continued taunting us about calling the police & being arrested for disorderly conduct. The man continued to antagonize us with name calling & threats. He questioned if we were familiar with Mobile County Metro Jail. The man boasted that his grandfather is a Warden. The associate retrieved Kujo & returned him to me. As Tempey attempted to exit, the man followed & harassed us with insults & hackling. read more

I love this place! I bring my dog here to get his nails done and Leslie always takes such great care of him. He doesn't like his nails being clipped but he comes out afterwards happy and tail wagging. I couldn't ask for a better groomer. Great people wotk there. Not happy with their service. Did not like the cut. And, although I paid for a flea bath, it didn't appear to have been done, he was still covered with fleas. In addition, they should have plucked the hair out of his ears, and didn't, so I had to pay my vet $25 to do it. When I told my vet about the bad experience, she actually laughed out loud because her team had already guessed that this was where I had gone. Long story but it must be told: Today we encountered BLATANT RACISM. I have been a satisfied customer of Lola Bell's Pet Inc for months now. I was referred by my family who have other puppies that patronize this place also. I am very particular with how my Max is groomed especially seeing that I cut hair myself for a living. So each time he goes, I am very thorough with what I want him to have. (Trim only, cut a half of an inch off his body, cut nails and a face shape) I have had no problem up until today, when the male worker showed his real self! I dropped him off at 8:30a.m and picked him up at 4:30p.m because that's when they told me he was ready. I go inside and the front desk person tells me what they did to him, which was what I originally asked for so that was fine. I proceed to pay, and even leave a tip. This is before I even see him because I'm confident from their previous work. My Max comes out and I couldn't recognize him because they had cut him so low! I'm shocked and speechless at this point. Other patrons are raving how cute he is, but I say he is cut too low. None of the workers even acknowledged my complaint. I go outside to the truck, and tell my husband to look at Max, and how short his hair was. We know the hair is gone at this point and can't be replaced, but my husband goes inside to see could they compensate us for this mistake, basically acknowledge my dissatisfaction. They in turn tells him, he was matted and they had to cut his hair low. Also that he moved too much while cutting his hair and for his safety and theirs they were basically forced to cut his hair all off. Not true! My dog was not matted, my husband tells me I brush him too much as a matter of fact!! So I called back inside instead of going in because I just wanted to let them know, you should have made contact with me before and informed me of this drastic change. The male worker which was SO rude and disrespectful to me then says " well ma'am your dog peed all over us the entire time, you should have walked him before your brought him in ". I stated I walked him before I brought him to you all and he peed four times to be exact. He goes back and forth like a kid "no you didn't, no you didn't, no you didn't". At this point I'm just outdone.It gets worst. My husband goes inside because the male worker was disrespecting me horribly over the phone. When my husband walks in the male worker is sitting down drinking a beer, during business hours. He then tells my husband several times " the fat boy is off the clock".... what?! Ok. Then says "BOY YOU BETTER LEAVE MY PLACE OF BUSINESS " and then he calls my husband a NIGGER!!! My husband steps outside of course ANGRY, but he KNOWS how to respond to this situation. Then the guy called the police on us and lies to them saying " my husband was trying to fight him". We all know this could have been a horrible outcome. My husband did not try to fight him, and the three ladies standing there could testify to that. This could have all been avoided if the guy had better customer service and all around people skills. Lola Bells had me arrested over a $65 pet grooming fee that i did not approve of in advance. It was a disputed debt and I was treated like a criminal and sat in a jail cell for 4 hours. My cat was shaven too close, had pink scratches and whined for days after that. What happened was a major injustice to me and my cat. I have removed all details but the public has the right to know, I was arrested for this and treated like a criminal over a disputed pet grooming fee. This is a small claims issues, not a criminal case. No one should ever be arrested for something like this and I pray it never happens to another customer again.
