Four of us searched for a place to eat lunch yesterday after a maddening experience in Commiskey Indiana. Seymour was suggested and we searched for a place with good reviews. Lola's had the best record, so on we drove. The outside gave us pause. We decided to turn around upon seeing the industrial location with skeleton 'decor', but as we turned the car around we saw the back side of the sign. It said something like 'ignore the appearance, judge us on our food.' Soooo, we parked the car. Even worse than the freaky decor, the parking lot smelled AWFUL! A huge stench filled the air. AHA! I told my friends not to worry, because I figured we must have happened upon a restaurant my son had raved about not too long ago. A co-worker had taken him there for lunch and I remember him saying that it looked bad, smelled atrocious, but inside was sparkling and odor-free (except for good food aromas).. Even better, he'd said the food was great. Sooo...we went inside, and were quickly greeted and seated by a smiling waitress. The menu was heavy on burgers and Mexican, but had a child's menu, starters, salads and some good sounding sandwiches as well as desserts. My partner and I opted to share a pork tenderloin sandwich with a side of fries. Our friends had beef tacos and buffalo chicken tacos with sides of various chips and aioli mayo). The Buffalo chicken tacos were the clear winner according to one of them. I couldn't eat all of the pork tenderloin (half) on my plate; I should have done what my partner did - he set the bun aside and concentrated on the tenderloin. Good plan! That tenderloin was the best I've had. So tender, your toothless great grandpa could probably handle it easily. Yum! In addition, the service was excellent / a perfect counterpoint to the place we'd departed not a half an hour earlier. Just what we needed to restore our faith in dining out! Our friendly, sweet and helpful waitress got a generous tip. I highly recommend Lola's Modern Kitchen. read more

Lola's Modern Kitchen in Seymour Indiana is a great place to visit. Unique atmosphere with plenty of menu options. I had fried green tomatoes and a Buffalo Chicken wrap. Both were awesome. They also offer free retro video games like Pac-Man and Atari. Give them a shot if you're in the area. read more

We headed to Seymour to check out some stuff at Home Depot and then looked for a no-chain place to eat. YELP helped us find this place and we decided to give it a try even though it only had a few reviews but they were all pretty high scores. When we drove there it seemed like our GPS was sending us in the wrong direction but it all worked out. It's near the airport in what looks like an old run down industrial area. Some funny signs out front with parking in the rear. This place has GREAT character! Diner-like with lots of odd stuff to keep yourself busy looking around. Overall a great menu with lots of variety. I got the Deep South chicken sandwich and my wife got a salad and the rib special. Service was great and the food was original and fantastic. I loved my deep fried chicken sandwich and my wife enjoyed her choices. For dessert we had a peach cobbler cheesecake that was great. We are very happy we found this place that's situated way out in a rural area but worth the drive to try it out. We also played a few of the old school video games on the way out. I heard about Lola's and about their tenderloin through the small town Indiana guy who drives around rating breaded tenderloin sandwiches all over Indiana. Lola's got a favorable rating so me and a coworker tried it out. I agree with the rating with the exception that the tenderloin was cooked just a little too long but still very tasty. They had a lot of other things on the menu as well. The service was good and prompt. I'm not a big outer space person so all the alien things were a little off putting but some of the old arcade games and memorabilia were pretty cool. It's a little out of the way in the middle of Freeman Field but we plan to go again sometime. read more

This place is amazing! Best wings I've ever had. I love the Honey BBQ, garlic parm and Korean. They are perfection! Their Tacos are unique and so flavorful. Last night we tried the jalapeño corn bread and wow!! It was magical. We had to get extra to take home. Everything they make is wonderful and definitely get dessert! The owners and staff are friendly welcoming and helpful. The location is kind of unusual- in an industrial area, but just go! It will become your favorite place! read more
