I saw someone post about this place on instagram and decided to grab a breakfast taco from them when driving from DFW to SA. Just a couple minutes off Hwy 35 and well worth it!! They have a private parking lot and drive thru window. Since I was on a time crunch, I went through drive thru. You order at the window and it does take them time to make your food fresh. I appreciate that! The gentleman at the window was very nice. I got bacon, egg, cheese on flour and it was excellent!! Flour tortilla was pillowy and fresh. Eggs were plentiful and topped with thick cut bacon and shredded cheese. Very pleasant cashier who talked to us about the Badass Texas race. Was able to adjust our order after the fact. They brought our plates out to our table. They gave me ranchero sauce on top and on the side if I needed it. I love that they had diet Dr Pepper. They also had bakery cookies and cakes for sale. The food was great. Recently ate here for the first time, first impressions were very good had high hopes due to the high volume of customers. The staff was very respectful and environment was very welcoming. Now about the food... came in expecting authentic Mexican food given the name, menu, decor, and crew. Revived our food in a timely manner, given the high volume circumstances. And was not pleased with the look and taste.. Now this is not about race but the food tasted like it was catered to the elder America population, the food was unseasoned, over cooked, and the "papas" "potatos" were what I believe to be, frozen bagged French fries. Ok, I am picky about my breakfast tacos. They are one of my favorite foods. I have tried them from up and down Texas. I think I had the best breakfast taco I have ever had. 1. Fresh flour tortillas 2. Full piece of thick delicious bacon 3. Chunky potatoes 4. Fresh pico by request 5. Warm, tasty salsa. I am always on the hunt for Drive thru breakfast tacos and this one in Waco will now be a permanent stop on my morning drives from Austin to Dallas. I had zero ideas for improvement. I hadn't been to this place in several years, and it had completely slipped off of my radar for solid Mexican food, including breakfast and lunch offerings. Met my daughter and a friend of hers for a late breakfast. I had two sunny side up eggs, along with two sausage patties ($1 extra for the 2nd patty) and fries, and some really good queso that my daughter had ordered before I arrived. The chips could be better, they were a little on the greasy side. Food was served pretty promptly, friendly service, the prices were fair, and the sausage patties were good size and very tasty as were the fries. Eggs cooked appropriately too. Solid breakfast place, modestly furnished, but clean, with good food at reasonable prices. I will need to stop in sometime soon for lunch. read more

You might not get an answer more than half the time you call to put an order in, and you might not get great service once you're in there, but they do have some of the best breakfast tacos in Waco, and they do put whole strips of bacon in those breakfast tacos, unlike the crumbled/crumpled bacon in a lot of Waco Taco Spots. And despite the sporadic service, eating inside was enjoyable the few times we've decided to eat inside instead of ordering takeout. read more

New favorite as we drive through! I got the Bacon, Egg, & potato! So yummy! We will definitely be coming back! We went through the drive through and love this option! The whole Covid ordering process is not well explained. We pulled up to get some breakfast tacos to find the dining room closed. I asked for a menu and was told to go online to find it. They won't take orders except over the phone. If we weren't starving on a Sunday morning I would have gone elsewhere. I finally found the online menu. Then called to get a busy signal. Finally got thru. The tacos were good and the ones with bacon were made with nicely cooked bacon. But they forgot the cheese on one of them. read more

I have been coming here since I was a child and to this day will make a visit anytime I am in town. It is a Waco staple that has been around for years. If you are looking for a breakfast taco that is not minced ingredients then this is your place. The salsa here is more of a garnish (but is delish on a taco) then an appetizer so don't plan on your traditional tex-mex salsa portion. It is full of flavor and kick! Seating is limited on the inside and there are a few tables outside on a patio but it does fills up easily especially during high breakfast and lunch times. If I'm not eating in I typically call in my order to beat the line. Expect some great service and food...this local gem is a must! read more

Full of gringos so I know it's gonna be full on Tex-Mex. Confusing ordering system. You walk in and there's nothing that makes it clear that you order at the counter. I go to the counter and she immediately asked what I want. I say I'm eating here, thinking I'd be led to a table and she just distantly states "you order at the counter." I say ok and she asks again, "what can I get you?" Well geez I had just walked in the door and was obviously confused by your system so can I have a minute to look at the menu? I went with migas, paid, she gives me a number, and she tells me the coffee is behind me and "they'll find you when it's ready." I had to ask another customer if I just grab a table where I can. I mean the place was packed, with customers standing around. It wasn't clear whether they were waiting to be seated, waiting for to-go orders, waiting to pay or what. I'm writing this part as I wait for the food, and hoping the food itself is worth all the chaos and confusion. So far 2 stars for service. The food was meh...certainly not worthy of standing in line and sitting in a packed restaurant. Maybe I'm spoiled by living in Houston but this was nothing to rave about. Decided to try these guys for breakfast because we were looking for some menudo. My friend was not super impressed with the menudo. I ordered the chorizo with eggs and barbacoa plate. It was not crazy about the barbacoa, but everything else was ok. The service was good. We arrived, were seated right away and our food didn't take very long either. Although my taco's were good they were overpriced. I came from Corpus Christi where taco's are available everywhere and are much cheaper. At $3.25 you even beat Whataburger. Having to order via phone is lazy on your part. A once a week, if not more, stop. Needed to shout out more since my last review here. This place is almost addictively evil, what a blessing here in Waco! I cannot emphasize enough, this is a Waco must stop place. Looks like an ordinary tin building from outside but the kids and Lolita (their mother & Father) have made it a castle inside. You can smell the salsa cooking on the other side of town. Everything is made right here, fresh quality ingredients, original & tastes the same as it did when I would fight for the one table that Papa Lolita had in his original tiny building 30 years ago! I'm sitting in the $rive through now & omgosh!, the cars are taking for ever in this line but my food will be worth every second I wait here. Best part about Lolita's is how punk rock it is. Does the name refer to a scandalous novel or is it someone's name? Who cares? Could the drive through be faster? Oh, positively. You order at the same window where you get the food you ordered, so it's several minutes after waiting in line for everyone else to have their several minutes. You don't like it? Go somewhere else. Or turn up the NPR on your Subaru. They have the same cookies and confetti cake every dang day. Are they good? Probably. And then the food. Are there day old French fries in their signature breakfast burrito, the Elefante? Absolutely. Do I order it every time? You know I do. Was it George W's favorite? How could it not be? Is their hot sauce completely pedestrian and bite-your-face-off hot? Would I mention it if it wasn't? Lolita's is the place you take your kids for breakfast just to show them how little their bourgeois tastes affect you. Or where you take your parents to subtly tell them in a way they won't understand, why you live in Waco instead of their crappy suburb. They'll smile at you and wonder why you're not at Magnolia Table, and you'll smile back thinking: oh, I'm well aware. And when you're an old man and the kids take you to breakfast praying you choose something with a vegan menu, you say "let's go to Lolita's" and they inwardly groan and you inwardly smile, knowing that this little game never gets old, no matter how old you get, and next week you'll probably die of a massive coronary, but you won't die disappointed because Lolita's never disappointed you. read more

Being from San Antonio, I've been struggling to find my kind of Mexican food in Waco. I tried Lolita's on a whim, and was not necessarily disappointed, but was also not necessarily pleased. I order the menudo and two barbacoa tacos. The barbacoa tacos were not very greasy, which is good, but they were also not very flavorful. If you've ever had HEB's barbacoa, it taste pretty much the same. The menudo was INCREDIBLY GREASY! I order my food to-go, I was happy I did because I was able to scoop out about an inch of grease, but there was just no way to get it all out. There were a lot of bones in the menudo, my guess is porks feet, and, if you're familiar with menudo, just looking at the tripe you can tell it's cheap, definitely not honeycomb. I had about two spoonfuls of the menudo and then threw the rest away; I could feel the grease in my mouth. I had about a five minute wait, in the drive thru - not surprising, as most restaurants already have their menudo and barbacoa ready. You get what you pay for; it came out to $13.53, so I'm not really disappointed that I ended up throwing the menudo away. read more

This place is about 5 minutes off the freeway and it was worth the venture in. It is a small family owned establishment with a few tables inside and a few outside. The crowd ebbs and flows as it got really busy right after we ordered around 11:45am on a Saturday. The menu is a bit confusing as it is all over the place with breakfast items, small and large sizes of things, and oh ya combination plates. Their burritos come with just meat and the tortilla, which was great for me. Everything else is an add on for a fee. They have two sizes of burritos, with a 10 inch and a 6 inch. They also have housemade horchata, which is super cinnamonny. Combination plates come with chips and salsa. It is a get your number and find a table kind of place, but then the service after that is pretty good. They brought us extra chips, salsa, and pico de gallo, upon request only. The decor is quaint and there is one small bathroom. The food is a bit salty, but at least it is not Tex-Mex! read more

OMG can't believe in all my years in town I haven't been here and I've probably driven past it countless times. Packed on this Saturday morning, Mom enjoyed huevos rancheros and I had the Elefante, their huge breakfast burrito with everything for $5.00, loaded with eggs, sausage, beans, thick bacon and the best potatoes. I also had to try a chicken fajita taco which was delicious and a small bowl of menudo. We will definitely be back!
