YOU CAN GET VEGETARIAN TACOS HERE!! I felt the need to scream this first because if you're vegetarian and looking at the menu, you won't see anything besides quesadillas available. When we asked about veggie tacos, the lady taking our order said "yes, we can do that" then proceeded to list out all of the vegetarian ingredients available which gave my husband the ability to essentially "build his own taco". He chose all the ingredients: rice, beans, pico de gallo, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado and cheese. He loved them!! I was being boring and chose a cheese quesadilla, but ordered chips and salsa so I could dip the quesadilla into the salsa. This combination was delicious! Final tip: their "indoor seating" is actually an enclosed patio, so it's not very cool in hot weather. It looks like they have the ability to open up the patio when the weather is nice, which I bet would be a great ambiance when Texas feels like behaving! read more

Had the worst experience ever.... Went to go order some tacos since it's been a while and the people were very rude and unprofessional. Not only that I get home and find a hair in my food. Simple food that gets the job done! My Waco friends recommended that I check out this place, and the food was really good. I mean just look at that cheese pull from the quesadilla! The highlight was for sure the al pastor quesadilla and the barbacoa tacos. I got a combo of corn and flour tortillas for my tacos, and you really can't go wrong. The corn tortillas hold their shape really well, and the flour tortillas were nicely toasted. My only complaint was that the chicken and our limes were a bit dry. Definitely love the sauces that came with the meal. My spice tolerance is pretty good, and the spice was noticeable. Really good to add onto your food! Stopped by on Christmas Eve. A friend and I went to see the tree at Zilker Park. It was late (midnight) and her being pregnant we were in the mood for tacos. Our usual spot wasn't open but we kept rolling and saw the light and a pretty long line at this food truck. People don't wait in line for unappetizing food! The menu was simple but after looking around I realize they have a hidden menu. A few people were ordering plates and side items. We ordered street tacos. Everything is made to order. Our food was fresh, hot and AMAZING! I didn't have to use my translator app but it is helpful if you know some basic Spanish. I loved the green sauce and from the looks of other people s food the quesadilla is my next menu item to try. read more

I live in Austin so I was in Waco for some Business. It took longer than expected so I was hungry and on the way out I found this Taqueria after searching through yelp reviews. I'm so glad I stopped. The menu online didn't have what I wanted but there was a picture on yelp which had a sign for Birria tacos. And my friends, that is the only reason I went. The tacos can be ordered in Quesabirria (sp?) style Or simply with the consumer as well as the tortillas and all the other accompaniments. I love the variety of meat options for the tacos. However, the cabbage they serve on the tacos is really distasteful. I'm from South Texas, so I grew up eating tacos. Another great experience at Taco Z! I tried the fajita beef tacos this time and they are my new favorite. I ordered 2 large melon agua frescas and drank both, could've had a third, it's sooo good! This place started as a food truck & moved up to a brick & mortar with a drive thru. In Waco for 26 years. The birria combination with the white cheese is the best I've ever had. Yummy! We drove all the way from Bastrop texas to get some authentic Zacatecas food cuz that's where my family is from well my dad. There was not much to eat besides tacos but who don't love tacos. I give this place a 3 of 5 due to the meat being over cooked. as well as the person taking the order just clearly looking at me and laughing at me thinking I'm just a white girl not known when I want. I was taking the time to read the very small options of meat selection they have cuz I haven't had food from my grandma In a few years and I wanted my mouth to bring me back my childhood. I'll really miss this place when I leave Waco. The tacos are so dang cheap, authentic, and always come with all the toppings (cilantro, onion, lime). The toppings are always fresh and the limes are juicy. I always order the al pastor tacos even though I'm usually a person who prefers variety. I highly recommend those and the elote (corn in a cup). It's pretty simple with corn and some kind of cream and also cheeeap. You add in the mayo, butter, and cayenne to taste. The drive-thru is a little strange since they take your order at the only window they have and then you have to loop around the drive-thru to pick up your food. Not a huge deal because the food will be done by the time you make the quick loop. read more

Back when I was a student at Baylor University, I LOVED Taco Z. I always ordered the 3-4 beef fajitas with all the works (cabbage and onions) and add cheese. It comes with a side of salsa and limes. They have never charged me extra for adding cheese-- gracias ! The drive thru is awesome because I frequently crave tacos but have no desire to walk up to the cashier. However, depending on the time of day, the drive thru can be incredibly backed up due to the fact that they ask you to "please, go back around" once you've placed your order and paid. At that point, other cars may have driven up to the drive thru and thus, your wait is longer. Nevertheless, the beef fajita are juicy and I love the fact that I can choose between flour or corn tortillas. Reasonably priced. Nice people. Great food. read more

Average at best, I would not call this authentic by any means (I am Mexican, so I know what authentic Mexican food tastes like) . The Al pastor is nowhere near authentic, looks more like seasoned ground pork. The carnitas lack flavor, the amount of grease that comes out of these tacos is excessive. Also who puts cabbage on their tacos? It's not even pickled it's just plain chopped cabbage, onion and cilantro work just fine. The horchata tastes likes it's made from a package.
