A friend, Lori, recommended this place and I'm glad she did. The restaurant has a nice rustic atmosphere and the service is friendly and helpful. We had the cheese curds (cubes). They were not like Midwestern style cheese curds, but they were very yummy with bacon and hot honey. The cottage pie had a nice flavor although a bit dry. We asked for a side of the poutine gravy and that did the trick. I'd never heard of a pickle chicken sandwich. Yes it sounds weird. See pic for menu description. It had very moist chicken, but I did not get a ton of flavor. After I added a side more of the chipotle sauce it was more tasty. The shoestring fries were nicely seasoned. And we liked their Scotch Ale better than the Cold Smoke. We'll definitely be back to try more things up from the menu. read more

I went to Lolo Peak Brewing as my trip to Montana was towards it's end. Lolo isn't too terribly far from Missoula but it didn't make my hit list about a year ago when I was getting in the breweries there. So I am glad I made it back to check it off of my list. The brewery is situated on a hillside and you get a great view of the mountains from the east. There is even an outdoor seating area to enjoy this when weather allows. Inside the brewery it's charmingly rustic and relatively spacious and you still can get the views in. It escaped me that they made their own house made ginger ale otherwise I would have gotten some. But instead I got one of their beers which was the primary purpose of stopping by. What I got was the Horse With No Name Rice Lager. I do like rice lagers as they are nice and light. This one wasn't bad in that regard. Flavor features with it are crisp, a bit bitter with a dry finish. I was in need of getting something to eat and so I pursued that as well but wanted something light as I often do while on a long road trip. I got a very crisp and fresh garden salad which was excellent and what really gave it the extra "pop" was some ginger vinegarette dressing. We were visiting Montana and my sister in law suggested we ate here for dinner. Staff and service were really good. Place was packed but it did not take long for us to get seated. I had Greek salad and it was delicious. The portion was really but and I could not finish it. My husband had a sandwich and he really liked it as well. The skinny fries were fresh and crispy. The thing that could be better is the style of the seats. I believe it could be a little bit more comfortable. The style of the chairs and tables are not made to be seated for to long After a while it became uncomfortable. Was looking for a great lil spot to get some brews and burgers after my work trip to Missoula Montana. Just about 20 minutes away I found this little gem in the lil town of Lolo! James was by far my favorite server with the best knowledge of beer and things to do in Lolo! I was happy I got to taste a lil flight from this brewery. I've been to this establishment several times over the years, as they are close to the home I own. Their food is mediocre at best and over priced, service is ok. What is rather concerning is the fact they have no shame in insinuating that someone is trying to hog and jog after a meal when they have paid and left a tip. This might be understandable If the place was busy, but since there was only a few people in the restaurant on a Tuesday afternoon, you would think they would have a better handle on open tabs etc. To be approached by a staff member and asked if you have paid for your food when you are trying to leave is offensive! Not even the decency to apologize after approaching a customer in such an accusatory manor is not acceptable. I don't get it. The first time we went and got hamburgers ;perfection! The second time, not quite as good, but it was ok. Third time, the burgers were so over cooked, it was like leather between the buns. The beer is always good, but I definitely will try something other than the burger. Stopped in for lunch on our way out of town. The patio was super cute, lots of shade available, and the view was amazing!! I got the huckleberry saison and the summer IPA and loved both. The huckleberry saison was very fruity and refreshing. For lunch I got the BLT chicken Caesar wrap with fries. The wrap was loaded with filling and had nice grill marks making it crisp on the outside, the fries had a nice seasoning on them and were hot and crispy. This place has definitely improved since last time we visited. We went for late lunch on early afternoon and the place was pretty busy. Put our names on the list and went for a drive around the neighbourhood. Total wait was about 20min for our party of four. We were seated at one of their bench tables - bench was wobbly but we managed. Was pleasantly surprised to see that their menu choices have increased. Since we were starving, opted for their nachos, pulled pork burger, buffalo salad and Buffalo Mac and cheese. The nachos were super tasty and love that they used cheese sauce instead of just cheese which made eating much easier than traditional nachos that clump up once cheese is cold. My husband loved the pulled pork once he removed the jalapeños - they were spicy! The buffalo chicken was pretty spicy as well and the crumbled blue cheese offered no relief but if you like spicy, you will love it. Looking forward to trying other dishes on their menu! read more

Good food, drinks and service. The Chicken BLT Caesar Wrap could have had more Caesar flavor, but overall not bad. Sweet potato fries were very good, as were the regular fries that came with my husband's Lolo Burger (not pictured). He said the burger was very good, too. We had the pear cider and 3 Needles IPA, which were both delicious. I think the waitresses were a little overwhelmed (probably understaffed) but still did a good job. Been going there for years and quality of food has seriously declined. Took our little Grandson for dinner as that was where he wanted to go. Got a couple chicken strip meals and fish and chips. Waited FOOORRREVER for our food. Other tables that came after us were getting there food. Poor little grandson kept staring at the window where the food comes out . Wasn't complaining, but clearly losing his excitement about being there. Apparently in Montana, they give you tickets to keep track of the number of beers you've had -- good idea! It's so that people drink responsibly and can get home safely. We had good service and our waitress was friendly. She said she was originally from California and moved out to Montana to go to college.
