On our way back from Las Vegas, we decided to stop in Bakersfield and give this restaurant a try, and it was a great decision! Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. I ordered the shrimp, chicken, and steak fajitas, and they were really good. The alambres were also delicious. You can tell right away that the meat is good quality, and everything was very well seasoned. The only thing I would suggest and this would have made it a 10/10 would be homemade tortillas. I must say I have not been wowed in a while. I was craving ceviche and we were passing through Bakersfield. Well. Not really but we did not mind the going out of our way. I was so impressed I want to come back and try more of their food. My daughter has the tostada de Ceviche. This ceviche is like homemade. This is not your regular minced fish. You get actual chucks of fish. It was fresh and the ratio with the veggies was perfect. I had the enchilada plate. It was seriously scrumptious. Another fellow yelper described this place with this word. I thought it was an exaggeration, but he was right. The mariscos poblanos were also so good. Went to nestros Mexican restaurant the one downtown for some reason I like it better then the other one I guess it's seems more not as plain and out there the one downtown is real quaint and small don't get me wrong both spots the food is on point but the one downtown seems like it's more authentic that's the word I haven't been since 2020 since covid and the food is still on point that is never changed the services always on point and I will definitely go back again I definitely got to go back more than I do if the Margaritas are on point and I would definitely suggest to anybody who loves authentic Mexican food read more

We visited Nuestro Mexico for the first time tonight and had a wonderful dinner. We started with the Aguachiles Negros, which had a wonderful sauce with a perfect balance of lime and spice. For my main plate I had the Enchilada Trio. There was one enchilada each of chile verde, suiza, and beef ranchero. I really enjoyed all three. My wife had a dish recommended by our waiter called Mariscos Poblanos, which was a plate of shrimp and fish in a poblano cream sauce. She absolutely loved it. On top of the food the restaurant itself is great. It's a small, warm, and colorfully decorated little restaurant with a nice looking front patio along the street. Everyone who worked there was very welcoming and our waiter checked in on us multiple times, while also making recommendations and telling us more about the restaurant. We really enjoyed dinner and we'll definitely be back. read more

We love this place and eat here often. We attend church downtown and appreciate that Nuestro is open on Sundays. They are so welcoming. Some of the staff date back to La Costa days and are so familiar to us. The food is very good. My typical choice is the flautas, shredded beef and sometimes chicken. I can't stop eating the chips and salsa and their margaritas are decent. My husband always orders the pollo en mole. He says it is the best. Seriously, he never orders anything other than the mole. The restaurant is quaint. You feel as though you have stumbled on a hidden gem. Some may call it a hole in the wall. They have worked to provide a comfortable place to enjoy a meal. This is a very charming little treasure on the East Side. The moment you walk in, you are struck by all the beautiful Mexican art works on the wall. The owner is an art collector, he enthusiastically showed off his art collection to me. What a sweet guy. The waitress was sweet and kind as well. The food came very quickly. I am a massive fan of Mexican seafood. I started the seafood ceviche appetizer. It is light, tangy, refreshing, delicious. With the waitress' recommendation, I had the chile verde seafood as the main course. It is a mixture of shrimp, fish, and scallops. The seafood was tender, soaked up the delicious chile verde sauce. I don't even know how to write this without getting emotional again. We came for dinner and left with something I wasn't expecting. I'm from Mexico, and something about the taste just took me back instantly to my grandfather's restaurant in Culiacán. Stopped in for a Saturday afternoon lunch. We had the chips n salsa which is complimentary, normally the salsa is great but today it needed salt. We ordered our regular which is the trio fajitas. The fajitas definitely were missing seasoning from both my wife's and my plate. The drinks we got were margaritas but didn't taste any alcohol, it was a miss kinda day I guess. At the end we were ready to pay but the waiter mixed my bill up with another bill after noticing it, it got refunded and corrected. Wow. What a treat. A trip that started from Colorado and heading to Monterey CA my son and I found ourselves in Bakersfield CA at lunch time and hungry. Relying on my fellow Yelpers we decided to try Nuestro Mexico restaurant. We were extremely pleased. From the outside you see a cute multi- colored building that was probably a small house long ago. Being the adventurous type we entered finding an almost completely full restaurant. I was surprised as it was just noon. A lovely affable and gracious hostess greeted us with a big smile. So far so good. We were seated at a nice two top and almost immediately greeted by our server. Water delivered ( no, the the usual "sparking or still" ?) and chips and salsa, menus. I took pics of the menu and they are attached. So many choices it was hard to choose. I got chili verde enchiladas and my son got ceviche. Both were outstanding. Look, anyone can throw rice and beans on a dish, but both were made with love. No pasty, starchy lifeless beans here. These were the real deal. The enchiladas were excellent. If doing again I'd have done chicken with verde sauce. Just preference. The ceviche had tons of seafood in the dish. Maybe a more traditional sauce? Anyway, go. Had my eye on this spot for awhile now! Hubby and I finally stopped by for lunch and drinks today, and we sure are happy we did. . . We ordered the enchilada trio combo, the chicken taco combo, and a few Cadillac Margaritas, lol. Chips and salsa were immediately brought out and were very yummy.  The salsa was on point! Loved the flavor, heat level, and texture of the salsa, and the chips were warm and delicious as well. Food was freshly made and tasted so good; the chicken from the tacos was chunky, super flavorful, and tender; all three flavors of the enchiladas (salsa verde, chicken, and beef) were all outstanding.  Rice and beans had that authentic taste and were equally incredible. Everything was just cooked to perfection. The shots were generous and the margaritas strong! Really enjoyed those! The dining area was clean, but it's definitely on the small side; maybe 7-10 tables overall? I can imagine this place filling up quickly on the weekends! I also ordered an iced tea, which tasted watered down... But overall, we had a great time here! Parking can probably get tricky if it's busy in that area. Dry food. Horrible service. Cannot believe I called ahead 15 minutes before said they were not busy and to come right in to disgusting and over cooked food. Super disappointed as I expected a nice atmosphere here and it was loud children running around unattended. The ambiance was horrific as well as the food and staff. Nothing is clean here either I had to have them wipe my table before even sitting. Super disappointing and do not recommend to anyone who enjoys authentic Mexican cuisine. Finally got to try this place and it was pretty good. The beans and rice were delicious. I ordered a shredded beef taco as well and unfortunately, the shredded beef did not taste fresh. It tasted reheated and like it had been around for a few days. The chips and salsa were delicious, the salsa was very tasty and a little spicy so that was good. Not sure if I'll go back I feel that there are other places that I like better. The restaurant is cozy and is located in downtown Bakersfield. After seeing the reviews of this restaurant and even though I was in Tehachapi, I chose to make the 45 minute drive because I was really in the mood for some good Mexican food. This place absolutely did not disappoint. Inside was very clean and inviting and the Staff were just absolutely lovely and very friendly. I ordered the queso and chorizo appetizer, which was amazing. For my main meal, I ordered the garlic butter shrimp with a side of rice and beans. The shrimp were cut into little pieces which I appreciated because it made eating these tacos easier than when other establishments put whole shrimp in the taco. The quality of the shrimp was exceptional, and the butter garlic sauce was not over the top with garlic flavor, but suited the shrimp well. I have to say the best bite I had was taking a bite of the queso, the rice and beans and the shrimp. If you're in town or close enough to make the drive, I would say you would be very happy with the service and the food at this great Mexican restaurant read more
