On our way back from Las Vegas, we decided to stop in Bakersfield and give this restaurant a try, and it was a great decision! Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. I ordered the shrimp, chicken, and steak fajitas, and they were really good. The alambres were also delicious. You can tell right away that the meat is good quality, and everything was very well seasoned. The only thing I would suggest and this would have made it a 10/10 would be homemade tortillas. I think that would take the experience to another level. Just a little recommendation! Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and would definitely come back.

First time eating here and absolutely loved it! The drinks and food were both amazing. Our server was very sweet and attentive. I was raving about it while stills in the restaurant! Will definitely come back for more good food and drinks.

I must say I have not been wowed in a while. I was craving ceviche and we were passing through Bakersfield. Well. Not really but we did not mind the going out of our way. I was so impressed I want to come back and try more of their food. My daughter has the tostada de Ceviche. This ceviche is like homemade. This is not your regular minced fish. You get actual chucks of fish. It was fresh and the ratio with the veggies was perfect. I had the enchilada plate. It was seriously scrumptious. Another fellow yelper described this place with this word. I thought it was an exaggeration, but he was right. The mariscos poblanos were also so good. On top of the food being just fenomenal the service was outstanding.

This is great spot in downtown. We were quickly seated. I felt like this is a hidden gem. Not a bunch of frazzle. Just great tasting food. The food was great. Full of flavor. Both entrees were hot. No cold food here. The waitress checked on us several times and was very polite. I highly recommend trying this place out if you're looking for great authentic tasting Mexican food.

Nuestro is delicious... always sumptuous and full of savor. our favorite Mexican sanctuary in bako... from the mole to the hard shell beef tacos... every bite precise with spice and soul. the flavors resonate... vivid... generous... unforgettable. mexican culture carries such warmth and vibrancy... it nourishes the spirit as much as the plate. javier is exceptionally kind... gracious... and welcoming. cada visita es un verdadero placer... siempre delicioso.

On our way home from Paso Robles, we stopped in Bakersfield for lunch. So glad we chose Nuestro Mexico restaurant! Exceptional staff welcome you in immediately and give you top notch attention, bringing you extra salsa and napkins without even being asked. The posole is the best I've ever had in a restaurant! My husband really enjoyed the steak fajitas which included nopales in the grilled vegetables. The chips and salsa were tasty as well! My husband's Cafe de Olla was so delicious, accompanied with a yummy Conchita pan dulce. Highly recommend!!

We visited Nuestro Mexico for the first time tonight and had a wonderful dinner. We started with the Aguachiles Negros, which had a wonderful sauce with a perfect balance of lime and spice. For my main plate I had the Enchilada Trio. There was one enchilada each of chile verde, suiza, and beef ranchero. I really enjoyed all three. My wife had a dish recommended by our waiter called Mariscos Poblanos, which was a plate of shrimp and fish in a poblano cream sauce. She absolutely loved it. On top of the food the restaurant itself is great. It's a small, warm, and colorfully decorated little restaurant with a nice looking front patio along the street. Everyone who worked there was very welcoming and our waiter checked in on us multiple times, while also making recommendations and telling us more about the restaurant. We really enjoyed dinner and we'll definitely be back.

We love this place and eat here often. We attend church downtown and appreciate that Nuestro is open on Sundays. They are so welcoming. Some of the staff date back to La Costa days and are so familiar to us. The food is very good. My typical choice is the flautas, shredded beef and sometimes chicken. I can't stop eating the chips and salsa and their margaritas are decent. My husband always orders the pollo en mole. He says it is the best. Seriously, he never orders anything other than the mole. The restaurant is quaint. You feel as though you have stumbled on a hidden gem. Some may call it a hole in the wall. They have worked to provide a comfortable place to enjoy a meal. Not a lot of frills, but it's colorful and you are well cared for.

Yeas later still consistently delicious and authentic. Nuestro makes the patron feel at home and transports you to Mexico with its use of color, texture, and depth throughout the establishment. The food is amazing, we know this, but it's the quality service and ambiance that stands out after so many 5 star reviews, awards, and authentic cuisine. Thanks Nuestro. We will always come back.

This is a very charming little treasure on the East Side. The moment you walk in, you are struck by all the beautiful Mexican art works on the wall. The owner is an art collector, he enthusiastically showed off his art collection to me. What a sweet guy. The waitress was sweet and kind as well. The food came very quickly. I am a massive fan of Mexican seafood. I started the seafood ceviche appetizer. It is light, tangy, refreshing, delicious. With the waitress' recommendation, I had the chile verde seafood as the main course. It is a mixture of shrimp, fish, and scallops. The seafood was tender, soaked up the delicious chile verde sauce. It tastes shockingly like bouillabaisse to me. Overall loved the food. Need to come back and try more dishes.

This is a great place to go before an event in Bakersfield. Service is fast and food yummy. I wasn't hungry before our show at the Fox, so I got a kids meal with a cheese quesadilla. I only ate two strips of it. My friend enjoyed their enchilada meals. Our drinks were filled as soon as they were empty. Great customer service! 6/23/25

We had heard all the buzz about Nuestro Mexico, so we stopped in for lunch on our way to back to LA. The service was friendly and the food was very good. I wouldn't claim the tacos are the best I've ever eaten, but I will definitely be back next time I am in the area. We ate plenty of churros, chips and pastor tacos.

Is your Sunday brunch all you can eat?

    Yes

Is the patio area dog friendly?

    Yes it's dog friendly

Do they have breakfast or brunch options?

    Yes we have breakfast options

I have a food allergy to Canola/Rapeseed oil. Does Nuestro use this oil in the foods? Can I eat tacos and rice with my allergy?

Yes we used it in some items

What's full of flavor and filling?

Everything is filling if you order enough of it... but you're not going to walk out spending less than $10-20 on yourself just to get "full". I ordered their rack of lamb, spent way to much and left hungry, never again will I return to this place…

Are the lunch specials from 11-2 available on the weekend too?

No they are only available monday to Friday

Is there mariachis on Saturday nights?

None, when we have been there on Saturday nights.

The chilaquiles with any choice of meat is incredibly flavorful and one of my favorites on the menu. We finally decided to try Huevo House, and with a name like that I was expecting both cuisines, but I wasn't expecting the Mexican flavors to be this good! The menu was a decent size--one side for breakfast and the back for lunch. I didn't look at the lunch side, but the breakfast options were great: plenty to choose from without feeling overwhelming. They serve pozole on Fridays and Saturdays and menudo on Sundays. The pozole was full of flavor and honestly one of the highlights of our visit. Thank goodness we finally found a place that satisfies us both! I ordered the Country Benedict and he ordered the Brunchiladas--both dishes were delicious and came in generous portions. We also tried the Abuelita Latte and the Mazapán Latte. Both were very good, just on the sweeter side, so if you're not into sweet coffee definitely ask for half sweet. Our server was attentive and informative. She took great care of us and even made conversation, which added to the overall experience. Overall, such a good visit. We'll definitely be back!

SMITTENS STAPLE IS THEIR ABILITY TO MISS THE FLAVOR IN EVER SINGLE DISH…read more Update: coming back after some palate development... smitten is one of the most tasteless restaurants in town. Their hype was definitely due to the 'aesthetic'. Nothing is really outstanding to me. The drinks are such a let down, the coffee is borderline yuck.. do not recommend. Everything is quite unmemorable. Service is whatever, sometimes mid, sometimes bad. Nothing outstanding. Ambiance.... well... this one has been replicated one too many times. The food is heavily missing flavor, the hummus is disgusting. I can't believe they call that thing hummus, it's an insult to actual dish.. it's almost like it was trying to imitate the real dish, but failed terribly in even attempting to. Their pizza tasted like play-doh and looked very pale. Smitten is at least consistent with one thing, which is their staple: no flavor. One of the breaking points for me was being served food that had someone's HAIR. The restaurant is very expensive for the poor experience they have to offer. I stopped recommending them a long time ago.
