After losing my husband, the love of my life, we sought Joe Lombardo's funeral expertise. From the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted with the utmost compassion and warmth. Joe and his staff, primarily Amy, made us feel comfortable and less anxious about our loss and the tasks ahead. Everything, from planning the wake to the funeral, brunch and priest recommendations was seamless. Amy tended to every phone call regarding changes immediately. The wake was so nice. It was extremely crowded but the "hostesses" welcomed visitors, served water and cookies throughout. What a nice touch. The funeral ran smoothly, even when I made last minute changes. Wow! What a difference a year makes! I attended a friend's funeral at their Abbott Road location. It did not seem as welcoming as before. Apparently a Corporation out of Texas bought them out and flat-out fired the best of the best people they had. Even the staff was complaining " they know nothing about Buffalo." They don't put a penny back into the business. The prices nearly DOUBLED! Joe and Gordon and I think Debbie are gone. There was no one at the door, no golf cart and some lady who refused to make cookies when we asked nicely. She said " we've had enough and we close soon." It seemed unkempt and run down. Even the coffin! They could only afford to rent one but it looked all banged up and scratched. What used to feel warm and homey is now just worn and neglected. The staff was even complaining how "they" ( Some out of state company,) ruined the business and the " call volume?" had plummeted. It's so sad. You can see they are unhappy working there. You could cut the air with a knife. Not only because such a great person was lost but the complete opposite of everything Mr Lombardo stood for. I hope Joe and Gordon and Debbie and everyone who quit or got fired, open a fresh new funeral home somewhere nearby. read more

Lombardo Funeral Home, 103 Linwood Ave, Buffalo, NY. Know that it has taken me one month to write and post my comments because I had to release as much ANGER & PAIN as I could and not distort the facts as they occurred. And this is the short version. September 17, 2021: How does this funeral NOT send a family car to pick us up and take us to the church September 20, 2021: When office mgr John B is questioned about it, his sniping remarks are: 1. I thought I I already explained that to you? 2. Well, I gave your brother a refund for the family car and took $1K off of the bill, what else do you want? 3. Why did he even bring you here? 4. We had 4 services that day and your SIL was one of two that we missed. 5. Did I tell you they gave us a last minute notice for the day they wanted the funeral? 6. I wouldn't want your business, anyway. After twice calling him an ASSHOLE, for his lack of customer service skills, in this matter, he asked me to leave his office. I did. So, when my niece, the daughter of the deceased, contacted the owner to apprise him of the incident, he did the patronizing thing he should have, he offered his apology and to get John B to give one AND a meal for both my niece and I, with himself to talk and show us his new location on Main St, in Buffalo, in order to alleviate an already sad and horrible situation. In that very same conversation, I asked Mr. Lombardo why did funeral home not make arrangements for the cemetary as well?, only to be told: "Here in Buffalo, the cemeteries prefer the families to meet with them personally, especially since Forest Lawn has so many differently priced areas and we wouldn't want to pick the wrong one". It is obvious to me, he thought he was speaking to someone who didn't know how to plan a funeral. REALLY, JOE? Is that what you tell all of your customers? Well, needless to say, the last two, never happened. Definitely no meal and I have yet to receive an apology from John B, even when I saw him face to face, TWICE, again at that same funeral home location, while in attendance at the service of a family friend, on Oct 9, 2021. However, John B did speak to my sister about an online review, he attributed to me, which I did not write. So now I am. And in KNOWING I am not the only person John B has treated so heartlessly rude, in this year of 2021, NO, I would NEVER give LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME in any of its locations, for me or any family member, whose services I assist in planning, the privilege to touch our remains. EVER. THEY ARE NOT WORTHY!!!! What ever happened to CARE, CONCERN & CONSIDERATION TO A GRIEVING FAMILY AND ITS MEMBERS questioning an issue regarding a failure in the service they paid for, only to be grossly lambasted for doing so? A one star rating is still TOO HIGH, in my experience with this business. A MINUS 7 is the score they get from me. They did get the remains to the church. Wooo hooo. read more

Two parents in two years, and each time I used Lombardo Funeral Home. It might seem kind of silly, but I like the Linwood avenue location better that the Niagara Falls Blvd location. We sat down with John (who is a cross between Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper) and he explained every detail to us. He made the process of my moms service as easy as possible. He also took care in trying to save us money whenever possible. The day of the service, John and Jennifer provided whatever we needed (except for the sub tray from Wegmans :) - as it is illegal to eat inside a funeral home in NYS). Parking is limited, but people worked it out. Don't let the parking scare you away. This facility is great for those on a budget. Professional, helpful, great facilities. My mom passed 6/23/19 buried 6/28/19,arrangement was at Lombardo,Linwood ave.I think back now 9/19 all the staff was so pleasant,from the limo driver to the office staff.The most thanks to John, he is real,mild manned,and business.It was just like my mom had pre-planned ,she looked so beautiful,it helped me to control her passing.The cost was so reasonable .I recommend this business for anyone in the western Buffalo,NY area.I live in SC,born and raised in Buffalo,NY.I tell all please call Lambardo he will do you right,you will be so proud,my mom had the pre-plan. They have their own parking lot which was sufficient but you can also Park along the street. The facility had plenty of space for a large family and the bathrooms were downstairs. The bathroom area also had a little seating area for you to wait and they had a mini fridge with complimentary bottled water. I think they also had a water fountain down there. Plenty of boxes of tissue if you needed to shed a few tears but overall I felt comfortable and welcome. read more

I used to work for a large competing firm in the area. That being said I think Lombardo is the best in WNY. They are very compassionate and will work with different budgets. Their pricing is much more reasonable than a larger firm in the area. Even though I worked for a different place I did my pre-arrangement through Lombardo a few summers ago. read more
