I haven't been to Lombardo's in a few years but like stopping by when in the area. The food is decent and the vibe is cool. This visit was an overall pleasant one. Emily at the bar was friendly and on top of things as the place started to fill up while providing wonderful service to all guests. There was some great conversation between the staff and guests which always makes for a comfortable environment. (Cheers to the 91 year young gentleman whom the staff all seemed to recognize) As I made it for "happy hour" I opted for the bacon wrapped artichoke hearts. They had a nice flavor and hit the spot. Now why the lower star rating you might ponder? While I was sitting at the bar I noticed a woman (might be the owner) walk up to the well behind the bar and scoop ice from a glass while the bartender was taking care of another customer. For those who have ever worked in a bar/reataurant, we KNOW that this is a HUGE "do not do!!!" It's restaurant 101 for a reason! Glass can chip and shatter into the ice. Guests can potentially consume ice and the glass chips. No bartender ever wants to "burn the well." I don't care how long you've been in business, please lead by example. read more

Been going here for years and it used to be excellent. Now there are much Smaller portions with ridiculous prices. On most Recent visit chicken came out undone. It was taken back and reserved, this time overdone. We were offered wine which tasted very flat. No compensation for the expensive undercooked and then overcooked chicken. If you must spend an unexpected night adjacent to Lambert Airport you must spend it at the Drury Airport hotel! This is where you may dine at this Lombardo restaurant. St Louis is famous for toasted raviolis but the Lombardo version is different. This ravioli is a miniature version of a Calzone! It is served with a chunky marinara which is delicious. The service is great. The food is great. (Try these raviolis if you think I am kidding.). What a great overlooked place! read more

Our flight was cancelled so we got a hotel near the airport. We checked at the front desk and the clerk highly recommended Lombardo's. We took the shuttle and we were pleasantly surprised. We went around 5:30 for dinner. The hostess, who turned out to be our server, was cheerful and delightful. My husband has Celiac disease and has some pretty big dietary restrictions. Our server made note of his allergies. The prices were $$$. We ordered drinks and waited for our orders. Lombardo's had gluten free pasta! My husband ordered chicken Parmesan. He devoured it! Our server brought a small side dish of penne with Alfredo sauce. He loved it! I ordered the Fettuccini Alfredo with chicken. I've never had Fettuccini Alfredo THAT good. The sauce was so smooth, so creamy, I wanted so much more than I could eat. The Alfredo sauce was light, not a heavy cream sauce. If you're ever stuck in St. Louis and staying near the airport, you have GOT to stop in to Lombardo's. I'm in luck. I have our receipt from Lombardo's. We came here when we were in the area, followed by our hotel stay. We came on a super crazy, busy night, and they had the back rented out. Although it was very loud, and it was hard to hold a conversation because of the music, the staff did the best they could to accommodate everyone. I would say this is more of a finer dining restaurant. There is a bar area that is separate from dining that I think would be OK for casual, but most of the people we saw were dressed up and in jeans. All the staff members were very pleasant. We had the bartender as our server and she was very kind and built a report with us. We also enjoyed the customers in the bar area. Everyone was super engaging and we actually made friends with someone sitting at the bar area . It's such a great time when you can go into a restaurant and make friends as well as great customer service If we lived closer, we would definitely be here more often read more

Had a terrible experience. They could not find our reservation upon arrival which is always a bad start. We stand there feeling like idiots while they look up and down the computer trying to see if we're legit. After they confirmed us, we were seated at a nice booth. The bread they served was weird and the wine was just ok. Upon ordering, my husband & I just were not very hungry after a long day snacking. We asked if we could split an entree and they said yes. Many of their entrees contained mushrooms & we both can't eat them. We asked if they could not add mushrooms to the rigatoni dish and the waitress said no. They are too busy and cannot remove the mushrooms. To us, that seemed odd especially if the dishes are freshy made. In fact, it seems like we'd be saving them a step, but maybe it's all pre made?? We ended up ordering the ravioli and it was mushy & buried in cheese. It was like eating one big plate with microwaved cheese on it. Gross. I could tell thee server seemed bugged even though she "smiled". And, it was my birthday dinner. We will not be back. read more

Lombardos by the airport in St. Louis is such a great find!! Last month I was in town and at their location downtown. We started with a few cocktails and their iconic toasted ravioli. I don't know how they did it, but they were even better at this location. You HAVE to get these if you stop. We shared a salad which was fresh, but the ranch dressing was horrible. I wish high end places like this would have homeade dressings. We split the shrimp Lombardo which was AMAZING, but opted for the white sauce on our pasta. The white sauce was a big, tasteless letdown. We added mushrooms, and some leftover red sauce from our raviolis... it was still not enjoyable. However, the staff was attentive, timely, and knowledgeable. It's no wonder this place has been around for generations. I absolutley will go back. I'll just choose other dressings and stick to the red sauce! read more

I recently had the pleasure of dining here while on a work trip. It was a prodigious culinary experience. The service was incredible, I didn't have to wave anyone down for anything. What really made the experience; was it felt like I was in a classic restaurant. No gimmicks or hyped up menu. They know who and what they are, which is a traditional Italian eatery. The wait staff are clean and professional. They can speak to the menu and tell you their favorite items. Do yourself a favor and try the toasted ravioli, the breading was light and the meat was flavorful and not dry. Then order any of the dishes. I had the chicken lucciano. We eat here 3-4 times a year when we travel. We always made sure to stay at the neighboring hotel just to eat here. June 24th we were traveling with another couple who had never eaten here and we were excited to show them this fantastic restaurant we have bragged to them about. Upon arrival we were immediately seated by the older gentleman that is always there and is the restaurants manager. Our waitress who was only on her third shift there came over and took our drink order. When she brought the drinks back we placed our dinner Oder of 2 scampi Lombardos w pasta in garlic and olive oil and house salads, 2 chicken entrees, one with veggies and 1 with red pasta and Caesar salad. The waitress brought out 3 Caesar's salad and I said we only had 1 and 2 house salads. She said she was sorry and would go get our salads. 40 min later she FINALLY brought us our salads. Already being there for an hour and 30 min she finally brings out our entrees with all red pasta. Again said sorry and 15 min later finally brought our 2 pastas in olive oil and garlic. By this time we have been in there for 2 hours and watching other tables come in after us, order, eat and leave before we have even gotten our food. Trying to stay calm I asked to speak to the manager that sat us. He only made things worse by 1) laughing the entire saying ya she was new and 2 waitresses have moved so they are short staffed. 2) when asked not for our meals to be free but could he atleast take the salads off that we waited 40 min for. He laughed and was like ya I can't do that. The owner already left for the day and I'm not going to call her. I'll give you a coupon for a free appetizer on your next visit. No thanks. When I told him we won't be returning he pretty much said cool. The waitress comes over and ask will it be 1 check or 2? I said 2. She leaves for 3 min and comes back with 2 checks! ‍ I don't know if it was lack of training on the restaurant or she just had a very short memory. Either way we will not be returning to this restaurant with how the manager had no cares about his guest and would not do anything to make our experience at that time better, except laugh. First time visiting this location with my parents for their 39th wedding anniversary. Had no idea this gem had been here for almost 30 years! My parents frequent the Lombardo's downtown location the most. We arrived right a little earlier than the restaurant opened, but we're allowed to seat in the dining room. Had an early morning flight, so I stayed at a nearby hotel and used their shuttle to get to Lombardo's. Since I'm vegan, I ordered the linguine primavera, which came as a very generous serving. The pasta was perfectly cooked to be al dente, and the vegetables were not soggy. With some crushed red peppers on top, the dish was very balanced without the garlic becoming overpowering. The fresh bread was good with herb infused olive oil and balsamic vinegar. While the interior looked a bit dated, the ambiance was pleasant. What really made a difference was the attentive level of service by the staff. We were looking for some where to go before our show at the Fox and we hadn't been to Lombardo's in a while. We are so glad that we did. We had to have the toasted ravioli which IS the best in STL. It's homemade and not the frozen crap. Service was outstanding and our food came out at a balanced pace. We followed the ravioli up with salads. You can choose to have anchovies on your Caesar salad which are a salty deliciousness. Our main course was their fish special, grouper over risotto with a creamy sun dried tomato sauce. We love finding new restaurants and we love staying true to our favorites. We definitely are well known in many places. This review is about improvement and being aware of your customers...starters were a house salad with blue cheese dressing, seems it was fully prepped earlier. Be curious to have ordered that dressing on the side. Salad was very wet and over dressed in the blue cheese dressing. Bread came appearing like a store bought loaf of sliced bread, underwhelming, where's the crusty chewy Italian bread? They said it was from a local baker. Entrees came...I had ordered the Gorgonzola/mushroom steak. Medium rare. It should have presented with the Gorgonzola apparent and fresh sautéed mushrooms. What it was, was some kind of a cheese sauce and mushrooms somewhere in there, like a sauce you'd see poured over a burrito, but in a bad way...made no sense. The steak was raw...I mean rare. We had been traveling, and we were tired and so hungry. To save the chef from doing this all night I mentioned this. Someone came to the table (she never introduced herself, so had no idea who she was, not dressed to be in the kitchen cooking, so who knows)....she said "I would have cooked that for you, I explained we have no time and hadn't eaten in a very long time, and were traveling and had to go, no time to spare, She said "can I get you desserts", no, I don't like sweets. She left. Check came, was thinking maybe she took a few dollars off since we declined the sweets...no. Desserts at cost are a buck, they didn't value the customer to put that over to menu price desserts offered or any type of I'm sorry for the bad meal. Heard that loud and clear. They need to hit the refresh button on the menu for sure and be more consistent with dealing with customers with poor experiences that even they agreed was bad. On a recent business trip to St. Louis, attempted to go out to dinner at Landry's (after 15 minutes of being ignored, we left). Found ourselves across the street at Lombardo's ended up sitting at the bar. Our server and bartender was Chris. She was fabulous and really brought us up after a bad experience across the street. Had cocktails, and a fried ravioli appetizer. If you go here, definitely get this. Followed by steak with Gorgonzola and an order of veal...OMG...yum! They refunded our meal. It was not to our liking. It was classy in appearance, but the atmosphere had a stale grease odor. If you like sugary pasta sauce with no option for whole grain pasta, then this is your place. I make Chicken Marsala at home, and our order was a couple of pieces of what tasted like salty processed chicken in a goopy sauce with only a few mushrooms. My $7 salad (yes $7) was a handful of wilted and soggy lettuce with two half bad cherry tomatoes. Service was okay but we waited 20 minutes for water and never got bread until we got our appetizer. Then had to all but beg for 2 more slices of white sandwich bread for our meal. There were only 5 other tables with people at them in the entire place on a Saturday night at 7 pm. This was very nostalgic for me to visit Lombardo's tonight. It was my parents' favorite restaurant and they passed away more than 14 years ago. It is still excellent. I am visiting from LA and was dining alone so the waiter let me have one oyster rockefeller and one toasted ravioli for a starter. The ravioli is homemade, plump, delicious - puts frozen ones to shame. I had the filet Gorgonzola and it was so good. My waiter was so friendly and welcoming.
