The Ft Dodge location needs to update their air conditioning system. It must have been almost 100 degrees. That's bad enough but made worse with over a 90 minute wait for the food. Waiter spoke little English and rarely came back to see if our drinks needed refilled. The food was good but definitely not worth the long wait. Very disappointed read more

The salsa is the best! If they would bottle it I would keep my frig stocked. The food, I had the enchilada plate, was also very good. It was my first trip but it won't be my last. The night before parking lot was full which I took as a good sign. Decided to come back the next day when there was less traffic. 2 PM and they still had a half full restaurant. Overall, Lomitas is about middle of the pack when in comes to Mexican food. Perhaps I've been spoiled by living in San Antonio, Texas for so long. I had the quesadilla and was a bit confused when it arrived. The menu says it comes with guacamole, peppers and onions. All mine had was beef and A LOT of cheese. The best thing about this place is their margaritas!! They taste good and are STRONG. They have great chips and salsa too. Their food is ok. Nothing really sticks out as amazing. They have a lunch buffet sometimes so you can try everything they have. The staff are really nice and quick. I've never had a bad experience here. Went in, got seated, but no one ever came to our table. No menus no nothing. Got tired of waiting and left. Service is terrible.

I walked in and they told us to take a seat we waited for at least 30 minutes no menus nothing and had to stop one of the waitresses to get menus and the tables that came in after us had there food before us. Well honestly the first time I went I thought it was amazing just cuz I hosted moved from cali and it the first place I saw that was authentic.... let me say tho the more my husband and I have gone the worst it has been....... today we made a To-go order and I ordered chicken soup not spicy and they made it spicy.... like what if you ask them not to put something in the soup they shouldn't put it.... As good as any Mexican food I have had outside of Texas. Nothing compares to authentic Tex Mex and, don't ask me why, but you just have to be in Texas to get that. But who would have thought that in the middle of Iowa I would be able to have a delicious Mexican combination platter with beef taco, cheese enchilada, refried beans and rice? As good or better than what I get on a regular basis in North Carolina, And, btw, the margaritas are delicious and huge. Busy on a weeknight, but didn't have to wait. The wait staff is severely less than helpful. The food was bland and overly mushy. When drinks needed refills an explorer had to be sent in search of the absent staff. After a 40 minute wait for our plates off the menu it was apparent why you would order the cold buffet items, it's the only way to be eating in a timely manner. The cleanliness was lacking as well tables were left with filthy dishes for over 30 minutes at last count. When the supposed "super friendly" staff was made aware that the items on our order were wrong it was "sorry" and then that walked away. No offer to correct it or make it right, just well tough deal with it. The only reason for a one star rating is because I couldn't give negative stars. In traveling through town we stopped based on "good reviews". I would strongly rethink stopping to eat here . read more

I'll give this place 2 stars only because everything tasted good. I got the chicken and beef fajitas and only had enough meat to make 2 fajitas and the rest was onions. Never even got a refill either but whatever. I'd recommended asking for more meat if you're gonna get the fajitas :) read more

My husband and I are Iowa transplants from Houston, Texas. We lived in Des Moines for a few years and never found a Mexican restaurant that we liked because it just was not like home. We moved to Fort Dodge last Summer and just avoided any and all Mexican food because we assumed we wouldn't like it. We broke down a couple of weeks ago and tried Lomitas and were pleasantly surprised! The salsa is fresh and has a little kick. The entrees were both good- my husband especially enjoyed the sauce that came with his fish tacos. We are excited to go back and try other things on the menu! read more

They charge a Carry out fee... without telling you. They do not itemize receipts so you have no idea why your bill is so expensive if you order more than 3 things. It's frustrating being an essential worker, having had to work thru this whole COVID 19 pandemic, and when you think you're going to finally be able to enjoy some of the perks of days gone by, without risking the lives of the elderly ppl you care for, only to be penalized for being cautious and caring. .. and not being informed about unless you question them. They tried to charge me $3.00 more than my bill for some reason until I asked , and then it was still more than it should have been because of carry out fee. That's bull sh*t. No one else charges for carry out... I am going to start going to Tres Amigos... their chicken entrees are better quality and and so are their margaritas! read more

What can I say? It was food. I don't know that I would call it mexican food, but it DID resemble it. So, if you like to eat rather bland food that resembles mexican food and like to watch hispanic soap-operas while listening to mariachi music, then this is the place for you! Oh, and that's also if you don't mind waiting while the rude waiters decide whether they want to wait on you or if they'd rather talk to their friends while watching hispanic soap-operas and listening to mariachi music. Although the place was basically empty and the waiter was standing near us talking to his friends. AND although he could see us come in and sit down in the very next booth, he glanced our way a couple of times and continued to chat with his buddies. We waited and waited and waited. We were able to get his attention at one point and he brought us over some complimentary fresh-made tortilla chips and some decent salsa to go with them. The chips were pretty good... of course, hunger is the best seasoning and since we still hadn't even been able to make so much as a drink order, we were all rather hungry. When the waiter finally decided to wait on us, he was rude to my wife, my eldest daughter, and my son. I slapped down a dollar for the chips we had consumed while waiting the 30+ minutes he took to get to us (not exaggerating!) and we left. We had been to this Lomita's before and gotten shoddy service, but figured it had been because they were busy. This time, we deliberately came after the lunch rush had dwindled. We certainly did not expect nor deserve the treatment we received this time. Needless to say, this place is not on my list of places I would hurry back to. read more

Title . . ."Mexican food for gringos" This restaurant is mediocre at best. Lunch twice and the buffet is pretty lame. Fried taco shells, Americanized meats, strange "Mexiroll" type things (again fried) lettuce was fine, but the topping were a little under cooled for my taste. Deserts? If you like rice in cinnamon water you`re in luck. Prices were in line with the food. Environment was over filled with tables and chairs, dingy (bad carpet and paint) average lighting, but gets darker the further back you go. I have eaten here a couple times and have not left satisfied. Yesterday I ordered the beef nachos because all I really wanted was a vehicle for the guacamole I was craving. Big mistake! Lomita's is the best place in Fort Dodge to get Mexican. I have been going there regularly for many years and only had one time where they messed up my order, and they fixed it. They bring you out 2 kinds of salsa with your chips and mild and a hot. During lunch they have a pretty good buffet that includes the yummy cheese dip out on the line. There is also a desert table with cinna-chips and then something with fruit in it. The regular menu has many different options and I have yet to get a meal I didn't like. The Margaritas aren't bad either! The only bad thing about this place is that the businesses on the left and right of it have blocked in the parking lot. So, I recommend just parking at Earl May and walking around the bags of wood chips and potting soil to get to Lomita's. read more

Staff is always courteous and wait times, if any, are very short. I'm a fan of their fajitas(any kind). I also love their ceviche, margaritas and cheese sauce! Chips are given when seated with two salsas; One is mild with cilantro and one is a little on the spicy side. Both are very good, but if you are a spicy food lover they have another upon request that should get your eyes watering. I haven't had anything that I wouldn't recommend so take a look at the menu and dive in. read more

This is my entire family's favorite restaurant in the area! The food is ALWAYS fresh, the employees are always very polite and work in a very timely manor. They have a menu to order from and they also have a buffet where you can build your own meals including authentic deserts. They have comfortable seating arrangements, cute decor and honestly, I would recommend this place to anyone who loves mexican foods. read more

Extremely disappointing! I have eaten there before and liked it, but something has changed. Chips were stale, salsa was watery, guacomole was smothered in pico d gallo then when served plain it was way too salty. Could not eat it. Entree was no better. Meat was over cooked, partially burned. Hardley any rice and the the beans were pathetic. Very runny with hardly any beans. Service was so so but hostess did not even ask us how the meal was when we paid. I am going to Storm Lake for Mexican. read more
